Awkward But True

[Nostalgia Critic]

(OCC: January 5th. Open to only Nostalgia Critic and Chick)

The Nostalgia Critic sighed in depression. He was failing. Not just as a reviewer but a leader of this war. He did wish for something new but this changed things entirely. He felt so upset, everything was at the worst for him. He was close to a emotional breakdown, not in anger but in sadness and depression.

He really did miss one of his most trusted friends, he did love Patch and Lilo and Nani and everybody else. He was afraid to love them though, he was afraid he'd lose them to. He didn't know what to love anymore. He just leaned againest a tree and soft tears did spread on his face.

Chick spotted Critic and felt uneasy. He looked really depressed. She hadn't seen that since Ma-ti's death. She'd seen it briefly during their last meeting with Cinema Snob, Linkara, and Linksano. But it had quickly been masked by anger. She knew very few people saw him this vulnerable. She slightly wondered where Rob was. If he didn't know what was going on and Ask That Guy found him first. She decided that night she'd alert Lupa, Rob, and everyone else mentally questioning why she hadn't sooner. Even if they didn't show up to aid them they could be prepared in case their army failed to stop Ask That Guy. She focused back on the Critic jogging over to him.

"You okay Critic? You look like you're sweating." said Nostalgia Chick.

She could tell he was crying. But she wanted to give him an out and she didn't want to push him. If he wanted to vent or talk to her he could. If not she'd just be there for him.

Critic was shocked enough to calm down but his tears still showed. He wanted to sob and hug her but he controlled himself, he wanted to be tough and strong. At least for the chick's sake. Regardless he just kept his voice soft and heartbroken "Ma-ti's death really got to me more than I thought. Ask Thatguy's on his way, the kids are in danger, Cinema Snob keeps trying to butt in and I'm a f****ing failure" He wiped his tears and looked at her again. He had to admit this was awkward to admit but he had no one else to turn to

"He saved our lives Critic. We all miss him. But I know how close you guys were. I still wonder how he got here. I mean he's was here for nearly three years Critic since he popped up in your Captain Planet review. And Dr. Insano's only invented that device a few weeks ago." said Nostalgia Chick.

She paused hearing his other questions.

"You think you're the only one afraid? My best friend got possessed by an quasidemonid intergalactic entity again and wants to kill me. Sure it looks bad but we've got Morpheus, Splinter, and Maleficent on our side. They've trained us and we're going to do the best we can. I'm also sure Linkara and Linksano are whipping up some cool gadgets as we speak. And Snob... well he'll come around." said Nostalgia Chick.

When she paused thinking of his last statement she frowned shaking her head.

"You're not a failure. Critic you led us in a brawl against Angry Video Game Nerd. You led us to victory over Molassia. You got us to look for the blasted glove in the first place and helped us get Ma-ti in place to stop him. You assembled all of us together to help out Nani, Lilo, and everyone else here. Sure things haven't always been perfect. But there's no point in giving up before it's over. Ma-ti wouldn't want you to give up and neither do I. You've got a home full of reviewers and fictional characters who are ready to follow your lead. We can do this Critic." said Nostalgia Chick.

She held out her hand to shake it.

"Millions will die or be enslaved. We, our friends, and our families will be wiped out. And Ma-ti's death will mean nothing but one year of peace. Unless we stop them. Unless we fight. So are you with me?" asked Nostalgia Chick.

She inwardly thanked herself for watching Lord of the Rings for inspiration last night. It wasn't the best motivational speech but she had to snap him out of his funk. He was their leader. They needed all they help they could get against Ask That Guy, Dark Nella, and the others.

At the subject of Ma-Ti, it hurt but it did confuse him in order to agree with her. How did he come here? Aw well that didn't matter since he was dead. He just pouted a bit at that memory though

On the subject of the team however, he couldn't help but doubt only about Snob. He didn't say it but Snob wasn't the most patient of people and was always in Critic's way well except Suburban knights but regardless he was a douchebag.

On the subject of him being a failure, he was shocked to how quickly Chick reacted. Normally she would sarcastically agree or even laugh at how low his confidence was. Now though she was telling him all the accomplicements that came with his failures. He couldn't help but stop crying and smile. As her hand gave out, it made a child-like part of him want to hug her, but also his adult-side wanted to hug her too. Either way he just simply shook her hand, in a very grateful fashion.

He looked at chicago though and his depression turned into determination "By god, you're right. I have to keep going, for the kids, for chicago, for the world.... And for you" He added the last part quietly

"I'm glad you agree to fight. It's not going to be easy but we can win." said Nostalgia Chick.

She smiled genuinely although pausing when she swore he said something after world. She shrugged as a thought struck her.

"We've got Ask That Guy, Dr. Insano, Rita Repulsa, Dark Nella, and who knows what else over there. Maybe we should tap into the portal for more help. If we can't send people home we should bring in more help. But then again we might bring in more villains too. What do you think?" said Nostalgia Chick.

[Nostalgia Critic]

"We get Linksano to maybe try to capture Insano for information at the battle. That'd be helpful to know if they can get home" Critic replied. He was somewhat glad that she didn't hear his last statement cause he wasn't sure if she would handle it. He took a deep breath and replied kindly "Thanks for the encouragement"

[Nostalgia Chick]

"That's good. Not that this hasn't been fun but the sooner we get everyone back the better. I guess if we have to we can put them on Linkara's ship for awhile. But I don't think we should keep the two doctors alone in a room together. Linksano may be on our side now but he is an alternate version of Dr. Insano. Who'd have thought we'd end up with two villains on our side." said Nostalgia Chick.

She smiled hearing his thanks and nodded.

"You're welcome Critic. I guess it was perfect timing for me to show up." said Nostalgia Chick.

Suddenly without warning Casper appeared in front of them.

"Timing!" shouted Casper.

Nostalgia Chick jumped back falling over surprised at his appearance. Casper just laughed and flew away.

"Uh oh. Does that mean ever meme we've ever said could pop out at us?" asked Nostalgia Chick.

"Yeah if I hear one more fact of crystal pepsi or Star Trek I'll go batshit nuts" Critic agreed chuckling a bit. When casper showed, Critic jumped accidently bumping into Chick a bit. He groaned and replied "Apparently so. Hopefully no more memes will pop up... Anyway we have to prevent Ask Thatguy from taking over the world"

"OF COURSE!" The voice of M. Bison shouted

Nostalgia Chick had stood up only to jump at the booming voice coming out of nowhere.

"At this rate we'll be beaten by the memes." said Nostalgia Chick, half jokingly.

She turned glancing around the place.

"I really hope we can minimize the damage. If even one building gets destroyed we could have the police scouring the city. Or worse the fbi, the army, everyone would be here. Maybe we can try to use the woods as a battlefield?" said Nostalgia Chick.

"I threatened to use that he said fine. He's just really determinded to kick my ass" Critic bitterly commented. Looking to Chick he got up, then he held his hand to help her. If she wanted that was he shrugged while he handed his hand out as if to say "hey I'm holding my hand no biggie"

Chick took his hand as she let him help her up.

"Thanks Critic." said Chick.

She smiled and felt a bit uneasy. The two of them hadn't really been alone together since her Bratz review he'd forced on her and they ended up drugging each other. They'd really come along way since then. She couldn't remember when that had happened but somewhere down the line they'd stopped their bickering and become friends.

"So you want to grab a cup of coffee or something?" asked Chick.

Critic too was impressed by the maturity the both of them grew to. They have grown together as allies and even friends since this war and many other situations began. He did feel uneasy as well, strangely though that made him more pleased with himself.

When asked to go out with her he didn't really hesitate "Sure. Wanna go out to town or go back to the house? I got some nice stuff but it's up to you"

"Let's go into town and pretend everything's normal. Even it's just for a half hour. Linkara, Snob, Splinter, and Morpheus can hold the fort while we're gone." said Nostalgia Chick.

She smiled before turning to the critic.

"So where's a good place in town? Starbucks?" asked Nostalgia Chick.

"Yeah besides Morpheus said something about loving kids and Splinter handles four turtle boys" Critic replied chucking again. Looking around the town he nodded happily at the suggestion of Starbucks "Starbucks is indeed the best. Has really good coffee" He was getting ready to walk as he said this
