The young female had been walking around aimlessly for quite some time now, tired and hungry as old memories of a similar time flowed back to her. "Hallo?" She cried out weakly from exaustion and fear. Tired, in the sense she had been walking for nearly a day, and fear as in she had no idea where she was currently and now sign of her brother Switzerland anywhere. "I hope Bruder isn't worried." She thought with concern. "Who knows how he'll act if he finds me here." If. That was the word, if she got back home. The thought caused a pit of despair to form in her stomach with concern. "No, big Bruder would want me to be strong." She said outloud, glancing up at her favorite bow in her hair and her signature white barrett rested on her hat, giving her the appearance of a younger female version of Switzerland.
Lili then looked around at the suburban houses that stood in place as the grey clouds hung like ghosts over the afternoon. She might've been living in Swiss security for some time, but she had done her research well enough that this might've been somewhere near Mr. america or Canada's house. "Maybe, if I can find them, they'll help me get back home." She concluded as she walked, eyes trying to be confident in her belief.
Steve needed to get his mind off of war. He decided getting some fresh air was sure to help him out a little. That's what he kept telling himself. As long as he got some air and looked at the scenery, it would keep his mind preoccupied. Keep him from thinking about how he had to fight in another war, from wondering if anyone else of the few friends he had would show up. He wore a brown leather jacket over his white tee, figuring it would be fairly chilly, especially considering it was February.
His slow pace came to a halt. He could hear somebody. Considering that several members of the Critic's army were talking animals, Steve wasn't entirely sure if the voice belonged to a human. Species wasn't keeping his good heart from investigating. The voice sounded exhausted. Captain America wasn't going to stand around. It seemed highly likely that whoever this was, they were lost. Kinda like him in a way. He resumed walking at a quicker pace, now on a search for this girl and moving towards the voice. He wasn't entirely sure if it was a good idea the more he thought about it, but that wasn't stopping him. He didn't take an agonizing amount of time to find her. He was walking behind her, and clearly she was the only other person around.
"Hey, you lost out here?" Steve called out. Finally, he'd managed to find the girl who appeared to be lost. She seemed to be a teenager, though he remembered he wasn't exactly the tallest young adult either. Once, he was thin and short. Those days were so long ago, it felt odd to think about it. He had to shake it off and pay attention to the situation at hand.
A sudden voice caused Lili to look up, snapping out of her train of thought. Talking to her now was a young man with a strange accent, whom she could only identify as an American one. Jersey maybe? It wasn't like she was an expert.
"Ah, y-yes I am." She started off nervously in her German accented voice, teal eyes glaring back at Steve. Maybe he knew where she was. "Uh, excuse me but , uh d-do you now where this place is?" She asked the male, before continuing. "I know it might sound strange, but I woke up here, and know I don't know here I am." The girl finished nervously, hoping Steve held the answer she was looking for.
(ooc: Sorry if I'm going too fast, I wanna experiment with this girl a bit.)

Steve hadn't quite heard the accent in her voice the first time around. Now he could hear she must have been of German descent. Being in World War II, Steve was fairly good at recognizing german accents. Ethnic background didn't matter too much to him, though. Listening to her story, it sounded pretty familiar.
"You're in Chicago, Illinois." the blonde male responded to the question. "I got here the same way. I finally got to go to sleep, just to wake up here. Maybe I should just stop sleeping." Steve couldn't let the girl run around without a bed to sleep in, a shelter, a something.
"You need a place to stay? I'd hate to see you running around freezing in the winter. What's your name?" Steve decided he should be friendly towards the poor kid. This kind of situation had to pretty bad for kids and teens. Waking up, having to adjust to a whole new world, everything you ever loved gone, it had to be a lot worse when you're younger.
It was a feeling Steve didn't want to think about. He could sympathize with her at least, couldn't he? That was a luxury he used to not have.
Lili's eyes just lit up with even more confusion. "Chicago?" She repeated. Wasn't that one of America's cities, what was she doing all the way out here? Either way, it didn't seem like she would being seeing her brother or friends anytime soon. Her heart sank a bit at the thoughts of home, a sheltered life in the European mountains, protected by her brother, would she ever see them again.
A sharp bitter wind then blew against her small form as she remembered how cold it truly was. "Y-Yes, I do." she replied, rather cold and uncertainly, slowing walking over to the young man mostly because she felt it was rude if she turned down his offer. "My n-name is Liechtenstein, y-you know like the country." She introduced herself, questioning whether Steve had heard about her or not. She was just a tiny little thing in the Alp mountains. She then glanced at Steve's eyes, she had never recalled ever seeing him before, which probably crossed out the fact he wasn't a fellow country, perhaps just a normal citizen. "A-and who are?" She asked, pulling her coat a little tighter to evade the nippy air.
Steve listened to the first that she uttered. Chicago. It had an eerie, familiar feeling. When he woke up in New York, he was in total disbelief. The captain pushed aside the memory once a viscous wind blew against him, slightly ruffling his blonde hair. It was called the 'Windy City' for a reason, clearly. She needed a place to stay? He figured as much. Surely he could make arrangements with the Critic for that to happen.
Her name did stun him a bit. That name was familiar. Steve was almost sure he'd seen it somewhere back in the 40's, maybe from looking at a map. Wasn't it a German country? Considering her accent, he was pretty sure it was a German country. What perplexed him the most was why she was named after a country. Sure, he was Captain America, but that wasn't his birth name. Maybe it was the same case with her. Compared to a lot of people he'd recently met, she looked like him in the sense that she seemed out of place. Perhaps she was from a different time period? Steve cast the thought aside for now.
"Captain Steve Rogers. You can just call me Steve." he replied in regards to who he was. He hesitated a moment, wondering if he should tell her that he's Captain America. He decided against it for the moment. Maybe later. "I'm in an army over here, fighting against someone named 'Ask Thatguy'. Apparently it's... an internet thing to have an odd name. The guy in charge might let you stay at his house for a while."
The captain didn't want to pressure someone so young into joining an army. He'd lost a close friend when they joined the army. He didn't want to relive a feeling like that with someone who appeared to be a teenager.
"Uh, n-nice to meet you uh, Captin Steve." The girl replied uncertainly to the man, rather skeptical to call him out casually, they did just meet. Still trying to fight the Father Winter's cold wrath, Lili blinked hard at Steve's last words.
"An army?" She repeated as if the utterance was foreign. Because she had been protected by Switzerland for such a long time, the female country couldn't even remember the last war she had been involved in. Even when those Pict aliens attacked and invaded Earth, Lili and her brother remained unharmed due to their lasting neutrality in previous world conflicts. "You mean like fighting?" She asked, truly uncertain at this particular point. She didn't want to fight, she just wanted to go home.
Captain Steve. It felt odd to hear that. Usually it was just Steve, Captain, Rogers, Cap, or Captain America. He wasn't used to Captain Steve. Now that he was back in an army, he would probably have to start getting used to Captain Steve.
Steve ignored the odd feeling of being called Captain Steve, paying attention to the girl's next words. War. Battle. Fighting. Death. "Yeah. An army, like fighting." Steve hesitantly responded to the question. His blue eyes flickered to the ground before he continued. Sky hued eyes flipped back to look at Lili's teal orbs. "But I'm sure I can get the big boss to let you stay without joining the actual army." Steve strongly doubted Critic would force a teen into war. Not unless it was apocalypse levels of war. That's what Steve would do. Although, a thought fluttered into his mind.
He saw at least one girl who wasn't even ten years old in the army. He didn't know her background, so what if she was forced into fighting? If Critic forced this girl into fighting, Steve would be forced to do something about it. Fighting was a choice at this point. Steve knew about the possible consequences in battle, and someone could do their part without endangering their lives in battle.
The teenaged nation briefly glanced away at the thought of a war. The sight of blood, death and pain. True, Swiss had been training her in the art of combat and to be prepared just in case a situation such as this were to ever occur. Even though training with her Bruder was fun, she didn't think she was capable of REAL fighting.
However, some light was soon shed in her favor as Steve spoke up, possibly arranging something for her. A smile formed on her face. "Oh, thank you sir!" She perked up with glee, before calming down a slight bit. "I mean Captain Steve." She corrected herself sheepishly.
It seemed like things were working quite well. Steve had done his good deed of the day and gave someone shelter. At this point anyway. He knew it might take some convincing to get Critic to allow it, but for now, his chances seemed pretty good to getting the Critic to see his point of view. She might be able to help out the soldiers if she was allowed to stay without joining the army. The captain could find a way to make sure she wasn't thrown onto the streets.
"Don't worry about correcting yourself so much, Liechtenstein." Steve said, taking notice of how quickly she corrected herself. Briefly, he pondered upon if she had a nickname. What would that be? Liechtenstein was a pretty long name to say, so Rogers assumed she must have had some sort of nickname. He cast the thought aside for now. "You don't always have to call me Captain Steve."
The chilled breeze in the air was little comfort to Steve. "Let's walk around a bit. Might get the blood flowing and warm us up."
The girl nodded in reply. "O-oh, I'm sorry Cap-I Mean Steve." She finished, agreeing to call him by his name casually, no matter how strange it have felt to her. She didn't say much from a simple nod as she followed the latter as he invited her for a small walk.
She walked after him, lost in her own thoughts, thinking of her own harsh past before Swiss had found her tired and broken. If Steve hadn't saved her, would she had fallen victim to the same fate? Shaking the idea from her mind, she glanced up at the young man. "Danke again for everything." She spoke up greatfully, trying to combat the February air as she paced up with him.
Steve was walking beside Liechtenstein now, eyes focused on where he was walking. A simple nod showed he had heard her thanks. "It's not a problem." he said, a reassuring smile making it's way onto his face. With every step he took, he wondered about what he could say to start conversation. What did people talk about in the modern day? Phones? Those portable music players called 'iPods'? iPhones? Steve decided that he'd try to get to know the teen a bit more by learning about her history. It's how he learned about the Avengers members, only he had the luxury of a laptop for that.
"So, where are you from?" Steve casually asked. She seemed like she came from her namesake, but Cap decided to look into it and get to know her a bit more.
Lil just glared up at Steve with slightly confused eyes. Well, wasn't it obvious where she was from? She did state her name, and did imply that she was a country. Hadn't he ever heard of her?
She then started to speak slowly. "Well, I'm the country of Liechtenstein. So I'm from the Alp Mountains in Europe with my bruder Switzerland." She paused, the thought of home getting to her. "Will I ever see him again?" She thought with worry, pondering to herself whether she'd ever see her trigger happy sibling again.
The thought had caused the girl to fall silent for a moment, disabling her from continuing to speak.
Steve had to think about that a little bit. She was a country? Or was she more like a mascot? Steve was essentially a mascot for America, so maybe she was really in character. She mentioned a brother named Switzerland, so perhaps there was a mascot for every country? That didn't make sense to the captain. "Europe. Last time I was in Europe, things... didn't go too well." Rogers mused. That was a bit of an understatement. He had to get it off his mind.
"So, you're a country? You mean a mascot of the country? I know we have a mascot for America. You could say... I know him pretty well." Steve didn't comprehend that she was a physical, actual country. A country was... well, a chunk of land controlled by a government, wasn't it? Liechtenstein couldn't be a country if she was a person. He was also still hesitating on the subject of being Captain America. The more he thought about it, the more he figured he should just tell her. She was going to be staying with the Critic's army. She'd figure it out eventually.
Despite her gloominess, Lili did feel a bit shocked at Steve's initial notion. "A-a mascot?" She asked, almost as if the word had foreign to her. In all honestly, the female had never put much thought into that idea before. All she knew, is that she was technically a country. She acted and behaved like should have in every aspect. "What does he mean by that?" sHe asked herself, remembering asking her brother a similar question when she was younger. Either she didn't remember his reply or Swiss didn't give her a direct reply. Figured. "I don't know." She simply replied with a small frown.
But at Steve's mentioning of him knowing America's "mascot", she did feel herself light up with hope. "America's mascot. Do you mean Mr. America?" She asked with possible hope that Steve knew the loud mouthed, energetic American. It could've happened, she was in Chicago after all, one of his cities. "Do you know him?" She asked, tone blended with curiosity and hope as she spoke.
