All Alone And Feeling Desperate

Rolly was sitting in the family room all alone. Ever since Patch had left he was a wreck. But, the one he was worried about way more then himself was his sister Cadpig. If things were bad before when Cadpig felt depressed on not being able to rescue Patch, this was about 20 times worse. She just locked herself in a room and sometimes wouldn't come out for days, sometimes weeks at a time. And when she did, she didn't look like herself at all. This was not the Cadpig he had known so well. He wished there was something he could do. But, after a few days of trying to coax her out of the room and coaxing her to talk to him. Rolly had to give up just a little.

There was only so much that he could do and so much that he could say.

"Poor Cadpig, why did you have to do this to her , Patch? She loved you" Rolly said softly

Freckles walked out into the living room. She was looking for Darla and Pepper. She smiled at seeing Rolly. She was glad to see her brother. She hadn't talked with him much since she got here. He looked at little upset as she walked over and hugged him.

"Rolly! It's so good to see you. Sorry I didn't try to talk to you sooner. But I'm glad you're up. You want to talk? Or play?" said Freckles.

"Freckles, am I happy to see you" Rolly said giving his sister a really big hug back. "Sure I would love to play a game with you, only one thing, do you think maybe you could help me , maybe convince Cadpig to play with us too? She's been taking things way too hard, and maybe all she needs is to relax and have a fun time. You wouldn't mind terribly if she joined us would you? I mean if she wants too, so Freckles, I was wondering what game did you have in mind, cause you know I'll play anything" Rolly said getting into a play bow with a wag of his tail.

Freckles smiled at Rolly and nodded.

"Sure. I'd love to play with Cadpig. You think she'll come out though? I know she was happy to see me and there's Pepper and Darla here too. There's five of us here. Although I do miss Patch and Penny but at least Patch isn't alone over there." said Freckles.

"Exactly and Cadpig isn't alone over here. Maybe we could".... Rolly started but just then he heard a bed room door open and Cadpig comes out. She looked like she was trying really hard to put on a brave face. But, the pain looked very evident on her face. Rolly scooped up Cadpig in a great big hug.

"How are you doing Cadpig"? Rolly asked concerned now realizing that was probably a very stupid question.

"Hi Freckles" Cadpig said with what was supposed to be a brave smile but looked somewhat forced like she was trying to hide how she felt to protect her family from finding out how she felt.

"Me and Freckles, were about to play a game. Maybe you'd wanna play with us? You totally should. I'll even let you and Freckles choose the game" Rolly said wanting both his sisters to be happy.

Freckles nodded but then looked up as Cadpig came out. She smiled glad to see her out again. Cadpig smiled at her and she replied back.

"Hey Cadpig." said Freckles.

She was worried about her sister just like Rolly was. She hoped Darla and Pepper showed up soon. The five of them hanging out would help Cadpig she was sure. But for now it was just the three of them.

"Yeah. You want to play with us Cadpig? we could play tag or hide and seek. Or anything really. You got any ideas?" asked Freckles.

Cadpig just had to smile, she had such caring friends here. Why should she let it eat her up if Patch was happy where he was at? At least she assumed he was happy, and Cadpig wasn't gonna take away patch's happiness. They were both happy where they were at, after giving Freckles a big hug and turns to Rolly and for the first time in what seemed like months her tail begins to wag. "Let's play hide and seek, Rolly you don't mind being it first do you"? Cadpigasked.

Rolly smiles. He loved to see Cadpig more than anything in the world, and seeing her tail wag made him happy. He hoped darla would show up real soon to make Cadpig Even happier, and plus he loved darla with all his heart..

"Of course I don't mind being it" Rolly said happily.

[Pepper]

"Did someone say play hide-and-seek! LET ME IN!" Pepper charged, interuptting the scene that previously was quiet. The pup was always game for a hide-and-seek playtime chance. Since the war was depressing, Pepper was the only one who seemed to be in the highest of spirits. Pepper then responded "Heya Rolly and cadpig! Finally, I get to see you guys. I'm so glad. Let's start playing!" Pepper then heard Darla and wagged her tail "Bout time the gang's all here now!"

Darla was not sad for once. She heard the conversation between cadpig, Rolly and Freckles and was happy that both Rolly and cadpig were allowing themselves to have fun. Especially rolly. She really was nervous in what she wanted to say to Rolly so maybe today she would finally have the chance. If today allowed her. As she went down she heard Pepper comment the gang was all here, but Darla focused on Rolly and her heart started to sing. "Rolly's it? Sounds great!" Darla wagged her tail and tried not to stare completely at rolly

"Pepper? Darla?" Cadpig Said and launched herself at the hoping to tackle them both down in a glomp. Rolly hadn't even noticed Darla staring at him because he was trying hard himself not to stare at her. Rolly had never felt this way about any girl before And the minute he got a chance he would tell Darla exactly how he felt about her. How he always felt about her. "Hi, pepper , hi Darla" he said trying and failing to hide a big blush as he said Darla. " I am really happy you both showed up especially you, Darla" Rolly said and then clears his throat nervously." Now that we're all here let's play." He said happily turning around to start counting whenever they were ready.

Darla and Pepper both laughed as Cadpig piled on them. The two helped the young pup off and turned to Rolly. Pepper spoke first, leaning and wagging her tail "Alright Rolly! Start counting with your eyes closed! This is great! We haven't played this game since forever" She then went over to Freckles and whispered in her ear, giggling a bit "I know the best places to hide here. That's why I was gone, cause I was exploring. Just follow me, twinie and we'll be fine" She then turned to Rolly who was talking to Darla for a second "Come on rolly! We're ready!" Pepper exclaimed impatiently, she then saw him turn and the pup turned to Cadpig, Freckles and Darla mouthing Alright! Let's go!

Darla's blush luckily wasn't that noticeable, but she was especially glad to hear that Rolly was glad to see her. Darla wagged her tail a bit and responded "Of course. I love hide and seek. Hope you can find us. Well, of course you can. You're great at---" Pepper's loud interruption caused Darla to cringe a bit and chuckle nervously. She then saw rolly turn and curse herself for not being able to finish what she had to say. When she saw Pepper mouth out let's go, Darla nodded and responded "Ok! Rolly, start counting, we're ready" Darla then nodded to the three girl pups before running into a living room couch, one that Rolly was nearby too.

Cadpig quickly tiptoes away making sure to not make any noise at all. She looks all around for a place to hide and then quickly hides in a nearby closet.

Rolly faces the wall and covers his eyes with a paw and begins to count. "Ready or not here I come" he said counting to sixty and then begins his search. He walks over to the couch Darla was hiding behind.

Freckles smiled seeing Darla and Pepper arrive. She grinned as Cadpig tackled them into a hug. The five of them were together and now she hoped they could have some fun. She turned to Pepper and grinned.

"Then lead the way. Although it won't be much fun if we hide together. The game would last longer if we hid separately." said Freckles.

She smiled running away with Freckles, Darla, and Pepper as Rolly began to count. She went into the kitchen and saw a cupboard door was open on the ground She jumped into it as she crawled in.. She didn't think Rolly wound find her in here.

Darla tried not to move but she couldn't help but scoot slightly as Rolly came near to the place she was hiding. Although she wanted him to find her first, so they could talk alone while trying to find the others, she still wanted to act like she was completely participating. She let her heart begin to pump loudly in her ears out of how nervous she was in what she wanted to say to him, not to mention how close he was to finding her. Darla looked to see the others gone and she smiled at that. Maybe with games like this, things would be easier to deal with

Pepper nodded and whispered, seeing Rolly count "I know that it'd be better if we seperate, I just don't want to get caught so quick! Just hide whereever you can near this room since Rolly will think it's too obvious, I'm going to hide downstairs someplace!" Pepper as she said that ran alongside Freckles and smiled as Freckles went to the kitchen, cleverly hidden in the cupboard. Pepper giggled as she went down the basement and behind a wooden staff. Rolly will never find me! And if he does, it'll take a while before then. This is the best hiding place

Rolly playfully growls as he sniffs. He knew he was super close to finding someone. He could sense it. Rolly hopped up on to the couch hoping and praying that who found was Darla.

Cadpig moves backwards in the closet until she saw something in the back of the closet just big enough for her to fit in. Rolly would never find her in there now.

[Darla]

Darla smiled as Rolly did succeed in finding her. Darla's tail wagged as she got out and saw Rolly's face looking at her as she was looking at his. The puppy giggled and responded "Yay. You caught me. Now let's go find the others huh?" Darla didn't regret that, it sounded natural but there was the underlying hint of shyness still in her voice. She now had to help find Cadpig, Freckles and Pepper

Elsewhere, Pepper was still hiding, although it was boring for the hyperactive pup Pepper would not leave for a second. She would stay all day just so she would win. Hopefully Rolly took forever in finding her, it would mean she successfully was hard to find.
