Spotted Past (Dark Heart, Insano)

[Penny]

Penny nodded listening to her. She smiled as Dark Heart said she'd have to go through her first.

"It's nice to have a friend here. Someone else besides Patch in the army to care about me." said Penny.

She paused looking at her. Dark Heart said Facilier was merciful. Penny looked at her confused.

"I don't think he's merciful. I think he just doesn't want you and Mechakara to get upset. After all the only people who seem to like my brother and me are you, your sister, and your father." said Penny.

She smiled as Dark Heart said she could keep her old collar and she smiled.

"Thanks. I don't know if I'll ever return home or if they'll all come here. But at least I have you and Patch." said Penny.

She wagged her tail as Dark Heart began petting her head as she grinned. She would like being Dark Heart's friend and pet while she was here. Although part of her hoped it wasn't that long as she was a bit homesick.

"Of course I care. I may be a villain but I have a heart... Or something similiar" DarkHeart joked. She smiled glad that Penny called her a friend. It felt nice to be called that instead of enemy or hated or something like that. She then frowned slightly and her head started to really hurt at Penny's response to Facilier "You... You might be right. Ah, blast it. My head hurts" She clutched her head before breathing "This headache nonsense is getting out of hand. I'll have to ask Insano about it" She then smiled slightly to Penny and responded "I don't know about your future but I know this. I swear to be a good owner for the time being and that your brother and you will be safe with me. I swear this as your friend" She kept patting Penny's head and scratching her ears happily. She now had a pet!

[Penny]

Penny smiled at her.

"I know that now. You're nice. Especially your smile. You should smile like that more often." said Penny.

She paused as Dark Heart frowned when she mentioned Facillier and said her head hurt. Penny looked at her concerned.

"Are you alright?" asked Penny.

Dark Heart said she'd talk to Insano about it which relieved her concern a little. At least she would be talking to a doctor. She looked up at Penny as she spoke again.

"Thank you. I don't think Patch and I would survive without the kindness of you and Mechakara." said Penny.

When Dark Heart patted her head and scratched her ears she grinned. That felt nice. She was beginning to like Dark Heart more and more.

DarkHeart smiled wider at the compliment Penny gave her, no-one really commented about that at all, the very idea of Penny being her pet was enough to make her happy but Penny's comment just made it all the better. DarkHeart tried not to show her pain to Penny, but her head was starting to pound, and she didn't understand why and the very thought of Insano caused a sense of worry. Worry that he was in danger being here, along with Penny and herself. But she would not admit this, especially to penny who already seemed to be concerned about her being, so she forced a smile to assure the poor puppy. DarkHeart sighed and rubbed her head, wondering all the while what was wrong. She kept petting Penny also, seeing it was making the dog grin and be happy. She responded kindly "It is no trouble Penny, your brother and you are family to us now. I do not know what Facilier would do but I can agree that he has been mentioning facts of not needing cargo. Though I am sure he means something else, because you and your brother are most certainly not cargo"

The thought of facilier saying that, caused some sort of inner anger, and not just because of the magician saying that but because DarkHeart was starting to have doubt of being here. Maybe that was why her head was hurting. Suddenly a sharp pain went not only to her head but her eyes as well, so she groaned as her head pounded but rubbed her eyes with a free hand. "What... What is this nonsense?"

[Penny]

Penny smiled as well seeing she'd made Dark Heart happy. But then she started to look like she was in pain. But she seemed to be trying to hide it. She paused as Dark Heart spoke again.

"Thank you. I already like you. I know you'll feel like family in no time." said Penny, grinning.

Penny watched concerned as Dark Heartgroaned and rubbed her eyes.

"Maybe you should go see Dr. Insano now. What if you're sick or one of your parts isn't working right?" asked Penny.

She knew Dark Heart looked part robot but didn't know if she was a robot who looked human, or a cyborg. All she knew was she needed some help.

DarkHeart was in quite some pain. She knew something in her system wasn't working right. It had to be something related to Facilier that was for sure, and as much as DarkHeart didn't want to admit it Facilier wasn't always a man of his word. DarkHeart saw the puppy worry for her safety despite her assurances that she was fine and DarkHeart knew she couldn't hide her pain from anyone especially one of her now recent family members. DarkHeart sighed and responded "I have to agree with you, dearest Penny. I'm afraid our pleasant talk has to be ruined by my accursed system not working right" She growled, hating the pain she was going through, she was trying to have a nice talk with Penny only for her head to be hurting. She had to complain to Insano about this. She turned to Penny and responded with a hint of sadness "This is what happens when you're a cyborg penny. When your system is hurting anywhere, your whole body feels like it is in pain. I'm afraid something's not right. I'm afraid your fears are true"

She then turned to Penny and asked politely "Do you wish to come with me to see Insano?"

[Penny]

Penny nodded. She paused as Dark Heart told her this was what happens as a cyborg. She needed help.

"Then let's go. The sooner you see Insano the sooner you'll find out what's wrong. We could talk some more later. I don't want you to hurt anymore." said Penny.

She smiled wagging her tail trying to cheer her up as she walked out with her.

Penny walked into the lab with Dark Heart searching for Insano.

"Dr. Insano? Are you here?" asked Penny.

[DarkHeart]

DarkHeart was relieved to have the pup be concerned with her, it was nice having a little "sidekick" to be there to help you or give you advice instead of simply telling you what to do. The robot was ok with talking more with the dog by herself later, for now, the robot had a headache and something was wrong with her mind or programming. DarkHeart smiled as the dog wagged her tail as she walked in front of her down to Insano's lab. She smiled apoligetically to her humanoid friend, hoping she wasn't causing a fuss. DarkHeart responded to Insano "Apparently my systems are causing me a headache. Can you assist that?"

Insano had to find a way to get out of this trap. How to get Mechakara and the others out of this trap. How to inform the others out of this trap. It was hard to play it cool and play it safe. If any of the robots had problems, he couldn't fix the mental problems without completely reprogramming them to return them to themselves. It had something to do with magic or even deeper reprogramming. The doctor's mind was full of worry as this progressed. Suddenly a person went in and a worried look came over only to be relieved when DarkHeart and one of the puppies, Penny, was there. "Yeah I'm here. You need anything?" When DarkHeart answered his question, Insano felt that it was Facilier's magic going wrong but he had to "cure" it to prevent suspicion. He nodded "Yes. But if it repeats I may need to look deeper into it at another time. I apoligize, I've just been busy"

[Penny]

Penny smiled as she followed Dark Heart to Insano's lab as she remained silent. She listened as Dark Heart explained her symptoms as Insano said he could help.

"But if you can fix it then why should it repeat?" asked Penny.

She was confused. If Dark Heart was malfunctioning and he could fix i. Then shouldn't she be cured of the problem?

[Dr. Insano]

Insano turned to the pup and softly sighed "Because DarkHeart's brain is very complex. You see, a virus can be destroyed but a new one can always come back. It is like a sickness for human beings, only less related to cells and only with a loose wire" He quickly helped DarkHeart up and opened up a small side of her head, making it look like Insano was digging inside her brain. Well, he was but not to a drastic scale. Insano got a wrench and screwed on certain bolts and fixed certain wires. "Hmmm. This is really interesting. The wires and bolts are loose but when I tighten them they get loose again. I'll try to tighten them a bit more"

DarkHeart was about to defend Insano but the doctor pretty much spoke for her, and the robot looked down at the pup assuringly. "He is far more complex with science then the both of us, dear penny" DarkHeart suddenly shuddered as Insano started fixing her mind and she raised an eyebrow when he commented it got loose every time he tightened it. DarkHeart growled "That is beyond strange and I am not liking it Insano. Please fix it" At that last request, her voice sounded frightened, as if she was scared of what was happening. She turned to Penny and smiled to the pup, and beckoned the pup to come over near her. She hissed as Insano tightened her screws more "Damn. It hurts"

[Penny]

Penny nodded remaining silent. The technical stuff went over her head. She was just a puppy after all. She watched as Insano worked on her trying to fix her. She paused as Dark Heart said to fix it as she started to get frightened. Penny went over to her and touched her hand with her paw. She saw she was scared and in pain.

"Back on the farm when one of us would be hurt we tried to be there for each other. To make them laugh or distract them. Maybe I can help you out too." said Penny.

[DarkHeart]

DarkHeart felt Penny's paw and the robot felt less scared, and she petted the dog's head as she began speaking. The dog apparently had stradegies to this issue of fear and pain that DarkHeart was handling as they spoke. She smiled kindly and responded with a hint of sadness but care "That is extremely helpful Penny. You can indeed help out in that way if you wish. Your company makes this far less nerve-wrecking" She scratched the pup's ear and the robot turned to Insano who was still working on it but seemed to be smiling too, as if he liked Penny being around. The robot then asked her new pup "Tell me Penny. What type of distractions are you most fond of?"

"I'm sorry DarkHeart. I'm doing everything I can now. Don't worry" Insano assured as the robot frighteningly demanded him to fix the problem. He felt terrible for lying but he had no choice and he knew it. The scientist smiled as Penny spoke and he continued tightening the screws and bolts. He admittedly was getting frustrated though, while some were finally staying some were not, but he was determined to fix the issue. Insano then heard DarkHeart's question to penny but he interrupted anyway "Personally I heard jokes distract the pain but the question was given to Penny so I'll leave it up to her to decide" He turned to give a smile to the dog before continuing on with his work.

[Penny]

Penny grinned glad to help. She just had to think of something. She heard Insano said he was doing everything he could and said jokes distracted from the pain. But she wasn't really good with jokes.

"Well we usually hold each other's paws or watch tv. Or tell jokes. But my jokes were pretty bad so I stopped telling them." said Penny.

She smiled as Dark Heart scratched her ear. That felt nice. Wait. Now she was being distracted. She looked up at Dark Heart and chuckled.

"Hey. I'm supposed to be distracting you. Not the other way around." said Penny.

She paused thinking of Dark Heart's question.

"Well watching tv always helped take my mind off things. Especially watching Thunderbolt. But I guess he's not on a tv show here." said Penny.

She paused with a grin.

"What do you normally do to get distracted?" asked Penny.

[Dr. Insano]

The robot chuckled as Penny admitted to not being very funny, as well as object to the fact she scratched penny's ears. That the pup was the one to distract her, not the other way around. DarkHeart gave a teasing look but it was caring and patient with the fact Insano was working on her mind at the moment. DarkHeart pondered as Penny suggested TV at first before realizing that TV wasn't really around and Penny's favorite tv show wasn't existent here in this universe. The robot pondered a bit longer before grinning "Back when things were less... violent. Mechakara used to tell me stories. Of any kind really. He usually made the heroes and villains up on the spot. When I need a real distraction from it all, I just think up of a story to tell to a friend or to myself" She turned to Penny and responded "Perhaps if you told me a story or something special about yourself, I will be more cheerful"

Insano kept working on DarkHeart's mind, despite his apparent annoyance to the fact the brain was just not cooperating. He got rid of his small wrench and decided to use a medium sized one, and went slightly deeper into the brain. It seemed to be working better though. At that thought, Insano smiled, and he paid attention to the conversation both the puppy and DarkHeart seemed to have.

[Penny]

Penny listened to her.

"A story huh. Hmm. I could try to tell you my story. But I guess you've already seen it. Patch told me it was a film here." said Penny.

She paused trying to think of something.

"Well Thunderbolt has had tons of adventures. I could tell you one of them. Well Thunderbolt's only an actor in a tv show. I even met him and he helped save us from Cruella and her henchmen. Patch and Lucky are like Thunderbolt's number one fans so we were always watching Thunderbolt at home." said Penny.

She grinned as she thought of one of his adventures.

"Thunderbolt was chasing after a man who robbed a bank. The crook was named Joe. Joe was a big scary man who wore a mask but he looked like he was out of a western. He got on a train and was making his get away. But Thunderbolt was too fast and got on the train and was chasing him through cars. But Joe kept getting one step ahead of him. Even tried threatening some of the passengers. But that didn't stop Thunderbolt. He tricked him into letting his guard down and he caught him and the money was returned." said Penny.

She paused with a frown.

"Guess the story was shorter than I thought." said Penny.

She smiled seeing Insano looked like he was still working. She didn't know when he'd be done so she thought of another story to try to tell her.
