(ooc: Apparently wikipedia doesn't know where it is either. XD)
Elisa smiled as they kept walking.
"The Chicago Theatre? Sure that sounds like fun. It's where we put on plays and concerts here. I'm not sure if there's anything go on today but we could at least see the place." said Elisa.
She paused wondering if he had something similar to a theatre in his time.
"Do you have something like that in your time? I mean world." said Elisa.
It was hard to remember that he wasn't just from the past but from an alternate past similar to their own. For all she knew his world was currently in that time and it wasn't the past there.

"If there is nothing going on at least we do indeed get to see it" Hal responded "I am extremely curious" He continued walking with Elisa through the city. He then nodded to the concept of something similar to a theatre "We do in fact but nothing as big or tall as yours is. It was rather small. Similar to what you think about a hut would look" They continued to talk and walk to the theatre. Hal was just really curious about her world but she was probably curious about his too. "We had men only perform. Women were not allowed. Which was strange to me but father said it was traditional for men to be actors, women had to watch" He said with a disliking look coming across his features.

Elisa grinned.
"Yes. I'm sure we'll at least get to see it. I've been to Chicago a few times but I haven't seen the theater before. Now I'd like to. Let's keep going." said Elisa.
She smiled as they kept going as she listened to him.
"Smaller? Sounds almost like a private theater. That sounds nice." said Elisa.
She nodded as he spoke about men performing in theatre.
"It was like that in our world too. I admit it probably would be goofy to see men dressed up as women in plays like that. Sadly women weren't allowed to much originally. But at lot has happened over the years in this world. We can vote, get jobs, even hold political offices like being a mayor. They're like a ruler of the town." said Elisa.
She grinned as they approached the theater.
"Ready to go in?" asked Elisa.
(ooc: I've never been to this theater so i have no idea what it looks like. xd)
"Very well! Let us go! I am quite enthusiastic myself!" Hal said cheerfully as Elisa told him about how interested she was to also see the chicago theater since she didn't really get to see it either. This would be a new experience the two of them would share. When Elisa said that the theaters he had were smaller and sounded similar to private places he nodded with a smile "It was pleasant but it did have the tendency to be quite crowded and we did not have restrictions with speaking, if the play said something many people did not like they would express disgust and throw things. I myself did it once or twice, mostly because some plays were really poor" He shrugged, he wasn't ashamed to admit that he was quite rude but he had a sore feeling it was really different in elisa's world, that people weren't allowed to do it or something like that.
"Actually young boys played women or girl parts, so yes it was extremely amusing. Though it caused their parents to crowd up the place so it was annoying sometimes" Hal said with a shrug once more. He didn't mind it because it was a part of his time but he didn't mind actual women acting either so it was a so-so situation for him. He then beamed positively as Elisa told him that while orginally women didn't do much, now they could with voting, have jobs similar to men and even become a government figure such as the mayor. Hal had no idea what a mayor was so he cocked his head in confusion before Elisa explained it was a person in power of a certain town. "Ah. Splendid. Sounds quite like a equal opportunity for your people. Interesting!"
He then saw the size of the theater and widened his eyes, shocked of how big people took their entertainment. He turned to Elisa who asked if he was ready and he nodded quickly. He went inside with her and was shocked to see it was just as big as it was on the outside, maybe even bigger. "So this is what it looks like. I have to admit I am impressed of how large it is"

Elisa grinned at Hal's cheerfulness. He just had a way of making her happy when he was so cheerful and smiling.
"Yes. Let's go." said Elisa.
She listened as he spoke about the old theaters.
"We don't do the throwing things at people anymore. People still complain or boo if something's bad though. Or if they're a critic post it the newspaper or online. Or they have a tv show or review show online like my friends and I do." said Elisa.
She paused as she listened to him.
"Gee I suppose it made romance scenes very rare or awkward to watch. I can't imagine many men wanting to kiss each other for acting back then." said Elisa.
She smiled as he seemed glad about equal opportunites.
"Yes. We've come a long way since those days. A woman can even become the President of the United States. That's the leader of our country. No woman has yet though but they have tried." said Elisa.
Elisa walked in and was in awe at the size of the theater.
"It certainly is pretty big. I'd love to come here sometime for a concert or a play. Maybe we can find a schedule we can take with us. Or I can look up something online when we get home." said Elisa.
She smiled as they kept walking around as she grinned.
"Want to look at the stage? We could probably see the whole theater from there." said Elisa.
She grinned running down the aisle towards the stage as she made her way up the steps and was soon on the stage. She grinned as she looked at the place in amazement.
"It looks even bigger than I thought from here. When this place is full I bet it can get really noisy with the applause and laughter. This would be a great place to perform." said Elisa.
Post by Henry V/Hal on Jan 30, 2014 18:05:02 GMT -5
Hal's cheerfulness apparently lightened the mood quite a lot, as seen with the two of them now happy and cheerful. He smiled as she said her compliance to go inside and nodded in understanding as Elisa explained that today people were not allowed to do stuff like he did. That they just booed or complained about it in private. Or, if they were like elisa, review it negatively "Ah. Very interesting. Much more... well-mannered I suppose"
"They didn't really exist. We spoke romance, but never did anything otherwise. Sadly they implied tons of different things which still made it awkward" Hal said with a hint of awkwardness in his tone. It was a uncomfortable thing to admit.
"That is very good! A woman leader seems very good indeed!" Hal said positively. Again, due to certain opinions, hal was fine with the idea of women leading. Why not? Women were people just like men were.
"It is beautiful. It would be lovely to see a play in here with you. We can arrange it another time then?" Hal suggested in agreement. He really adored how big and amazing the place looked. The stage was probably the biggest thing about this place.
When Elisa asked if he wanted to go to the stage he was about to object but nobody seemed to be around and elisa already ran off. Almost as if feeling young again, hal began to laugh and follow elisa to the stage. He turned to her and listened to her say that it looked even bigger than she assumed and hal nodded. When elisa said the place might be noisy with cheers and laughter. "You would be a fantastic performer. A successful one too I feel. You could be a performer if you wanted, dear elisa and millions of people would cheer for you. I know I would"

Elisa nodded.
"Well people still do it I suppose. There's no law against it. Most people just find it rude though so it's not done very much in public anymore." said Elisa.
Elisa paused listening to him.
"I see. Well that's interesting. It might have been amusing to watch though." said Elisa.
Elisa nodded.
"Yes it would. We've had women in the other branches of our government. The Senate and the House of Representatives. Basically they make the laws and the President would sign them. They were created when our country was founded so one person wouldn't have too much power. We used to be part of England and well King George wasn't a dictator I suppose. But he was close enough. We eventually broke free and even had a war between America and England and eventually we won our freedom and started the United States of America. There was only 13 states at the time but now we have 50." said Elisa.
Elisa paused changing the subject as she looked at the stage. She grinned at his words.
"Yes. I would. Maybe we could invite some of the others. We all deserve to have some fun once and awhile." said Elisa.
Elisa blushed at his compliment.
"I think you're right. It might be fun to act on a stage.. Although I don't know if I'd feel much like performing with this war going on though." said Elisa.
Post by Henry V/Hal on Mar 17, 2014 15:02:57 GMT -5
"Ah I see. It is not illegal but frowned upon, I can understand that. It makes sense. Such development your world has made" Hal responded softly, smiling in satisfaction as Elisa continued to teach him the ways of the modern world. So if he threw anything, people wouldn't like it but he probably wouldn't get in trouble. Still, he wouldn't do it. He wanted to be considered polite after all.
"It was amusing. Just a tad awkward for my tastes. It made me feel sorry for young boys, because I feared they would get teased for playing girl characters. Yet it was amusing, especially if the child had a high-pitched voice, it was rather cute" Hal shrugged, his tone not defensive in any way and instead rather calm and pleasant.
"Well that is good. And your country's history is immensely clever and interesting. I am impressed. Very impressed. I believe your country is a sight to behold" Hal said, a proud smile across his face. During his time, America wasn't even considered possible, for King George wasn't born yet but the fact this happened after in his life made him feel more aware of how times changed. Both for the good and for the bad.
"Of course. Everyone deserves to allow themselves to relax and not be stressed from the war. Inviting them would be splendid. Besides, if we can see a play, why not others?" Hal agreed whole-heartedly to the idea of inviting others. The idea of inviting Thor and his girlfriend came to mind, as did inviting Joe, Critic and Chick and many others.
"Oh. I see. Well I just suggested. Well, once this war is over, perhaps you will feel the need to perform again. I still feel you would make millions cheer for you, and you would be most fantastic on the stage" Hal said, seeing Elisa blush made him blush himself. He took her hand and responded "You would make a fabulous actress. You have the personality, intelligence and beauty of one"
Post by Elisa/Maven Of The Eventide on Apr 11, 2014 16:43:19 GMT -5
Elisa smirked.
"It's just bad manners. Although it might be considered disturbing the peace and you can get arrested for that." said Elisa.
Elisa paused listening to him.
"It might have been fun to see a play done back then. See how different it would be from plays put on now." said Elisa.
Elisa grinned.
"Well England hasn't done that bad either. It is known as one of the superpowers of this world. And a lot of popular things came from England including a sci-fi tv show called Dr. Who. Ace comes from that show. Not sure if you've met her yet. That tv show's was canceled but then brought back over many years later and is still a popular show. They celebrated the 50th anniversary of when the show began all those years ago. I haven't watched much of it but I know it's popular. Half of my reviewer friends watch it and many of them reviewer it on their shows." said Elisa.
Elisa grinned as he was glad he wanted to invite others.
"We should find out ticket prices to see how many we could bring. I know some would need to stay to guard both houses. Perhaps we should definitely invite some people from Roses's house. They're stuck over there watching kids and our injured. They deserve a night out too." said Roses.
Elisa smiled at his words.
"Thanks. I might try acting one day but for now I'm focused on this war. Besides I kind of already act in my review show. So I don't need to be on a stage to perform a different role." said Elisa.
She blushed at his compliments.
"Well thank you. So would you like to see more of this place? Or should we go see more of the city? Without a show to see there's not much else we can do here." said Elisa.
Post by Henry V/Hal on Apr 13, 2014 14:04:05 GMT -5
"Oh. Well then. I suppose people take theater much more seriously then" Hal said, honest shock out of his voice. People did get kicked out but it was only if you were incredibly drunk, if you disturbed the peace at all in this world, you were considered someone to put to jail. That was something Hal was honestly surprised with. "I am sure it would be for you and myself. To see different ways our times have changed with theater and the way the did plays" Hal said in agreement, as Elisa showed clear interest to how his times were back then.
"Really? Then maybe I should learn about this so-called "Doctor who" if so many people are interested" Hal said, his curiosity peaked as news of england brought on this little factoid. Hal still had no idea of TV or shows yet but maybe Doctor who would be interesting to get into. After all, it was made from British producers and it was apparently good enough to last for so long.
"Indeed they do. It sounds like a plan to me. We shall find out ticket prices and see what we can come up with for the others and ourselves!" Hal said, his cheer increasing with every second. He enjoyed elisa's generosity towards the others, and she WAS right. The people who did babysit and protect their safe haven were people who deserved a break just as much as they did.
"I understand. I just thought about how fantastic a performer you could've been. But being a reviewer sounds like a lot of dedication and hard work and you are rather busy with the war. As am I. It was only a suggestion" Hal said, a soft smile on his features. He wanted to be so understanding so he wanted to let Elisa know that his response was only a mere suggestion to what he believed. He did beam more as Elisa accepted his compliment then suggested touring more of the city "I would love to see more of this city. Do you have any suggestions?"
Post by Elisa/Maven Of The Eventide on Jun 2, 2014 16:43:49 GMT -5
Elisa nodded.
"Yes. Some people do. Of course some are just jerks or just want attention and don't care if they're ruining a play for the rest of us." said Elisa.
She nodded.
"Yes. I suppose much has changed between when plays were told in your days and now. I would have liked to seen a play back then. But no one's invented time travel here. Which seems almost normal compared to a cross-dimensional machine that started this war." said Elisa.
Elisa grinned.
"Well the show's been over for over 50 years. Well on and off. There was like over 10 years it was off the air. It had been canceled but they brought it back in 2005. Well after a failed movie to continue the series in the 90's. A lot of the others know more about Dr. Who than I do. Especially Nella and Linkara. You should talk to them about it." said Elisa.
She grinned as he agreed to bring others back here for a play.
"Good. Although we can always come here by ourselves sometime as well." said Elisa.
She blushed at his compliments.
"I'm not sure if I'm fantastic. But I have fun doing reviews. Maybe one day I'll could do some theater acting but I'm happy with what I'm doing now." said Elisa.
Elisa grinned as he wanted to see more of the city.
"I'm not sure where we can go. But can we avoid the park please That's where we fought Malachite and where Ma-Ti... I just don't want to go back there." said Elisa.
She hadn't been there for their adventure but she'd seen recordings of it. She paused wiping tears away as she grinned.
"How about we grab some coffee and think about what we want to do next" said Elisa.
Post by Henry V/Hal on Sept 16, 2014 20:15:39 GMT -5
"Then they should be ashamed quite frankly. It is plain rude to talk during your plays, I would think they'd understand that" Hal responded, starting to understand Elisa's culture the more she spoke. She was teaching him so much, more than just the modern age but how the modern culture was. It was important now that he was during this time. He didn't have much intention of returning to his time. Since he had nothing to return to, he felt his needs were right here.
"It is strange, your enemy's invention, but it has lead me to you and I feel that is very miraculous" Hal said, with a sincere tone and a very affectionate grin. He had successfully wooed her but he still felt the need to please her with compliments and the like, which was why he was constantly praising elisa's every move.
"I shall talk to them indeed. This IS rather confusing, but it must be successful since it has been going on for this long or be talked about for this long" Hal's face showed interest but his eyes had a slight sliver of confusion. It was on and off? What did that mean? Well like elisa said, other people were experts and she wasn't so he didn't want to embarrass her in anyway whether be deliberate or not.
"Of course! We can come here whenever you wish!" Hal immediately agreed to being here with just elisa. Time with her and her alone was something he felt he was going to cherish the more he did it. He was rather awed by her by this point.
"Nonsense, of course you are. Whether being a actress or a reviewer, you are fantastic to me" Hal said. OK, maybe he was bias but Hal was being sincere. He did find it rather cute that she was flattered and flustered from his praise. Her blush made her face look even more beautiful than it already was.
Hal immediately frowned though as Elisa began to cry at the mention of the park. He immediately understood why when she explained. It was very bad memories or the fact that one of her good friends was killed there. He went closer and said softly "Dear elisa, we will not go anywhere that displeases you. My only wish is to make this a pleasant night for you. Do not worry about the park, I do not want to go anywhere you do not want to go" He offered his hand and held it against one of her own and gently kissed it to try and cheer elisa up again.
Hal grinned excitedly at the mention of coffee. Ever since he tried it he really enjoyed it. Thanks to Elisa, he learned one of the best drinks he personally tried "That sounds wonderful. I would really like that"
Post by Elisa/Maven Of The Eventide on Dec 23, 2014 13:35:10 GMT -5
Elisa shrugged.
"Some people have no shame. At least for certain things." said Elisa.
Elisa smiled at him.
"Yes. If it wasn't for this war well I wouldn't have met you. It also brought so many people back to life. I think it would be cruel to send them back especially if they wouldn' get another chance to live in those worlds. Or if they did people would think they were ghosts or they faked your deaths or something like that. And just cause problems." said Elisa.
She nodded.
"Yes it was. Basically it's about an alien traveling through time and space meeting aliens and humans alike. Some go with him and are called companions. But we soon learned his species are called time lords. And when he dies he regenerates into a new body with all the memories. But his personality changes with each incarnation. he usually changed his clothes as well. Currently, there are 11 incarnations of the doctor. He's just called the Doctor on the show but we tell them apart by putting the number he is. Like you wanted to talk about doctor number 8 you say the 8th Doctor. He was only in the tv movie though. At least so far. I do know the basics but you'd have to talk to Linkara, Diamanda, and the others for more information." said Elisa.
She paused at his confusion.
"I mean the show was canceled. It had ended. We thought it was over. They tried to bring it back with a movie featuring the 8th doctor but it bombed. Then in 2005 they brought the show back with the 9th doctor. Two doctors and 7 years later and it's still going strong." said Elisa.
She smiled as he agreed they could come back here.
"Hopefully next time there will be a show here. It's nice to see this place when it's empty. But seeing a show here will be more fun." said Elisa.
She smiled at him.
"Thanks you are a bit biased. You haven't even seen me act yet." said Elisa.
Elisa smiled as he comforted her and said they don't have to go to the park.
"Thank you. If you wish to go there yourself you can. But try not to bring anyone from this world. Especially Ma-Ti." said Elisa.
She grinned as he agreed tot he coffee.
"Then let's go." said Elisa.
She grinned taking his hand as they headed off to the coffee place.
- Time Skip -
Elisa grinned sipping her coffee as she munched on a bagel. They'd gotten their orders and were now sitting at a table all warm and cozy.
Post by Henry V/Hal on Jan 19, 2015 13:23:03 GMT -5
Hal nodded as Elisa explained to him that people just had no shame. That admittedly disgusted Hal. Had they no pride to shame themselves with? Did they have too much time on their hands? What was it about certain people? It reminded him somewhat of Falstaff. Falstaff was always unashamed of what he did. Normally Hal would understand but Falstaff tried to get away with EVERYTHING. It was just not right.
Then Elisa continued to explain the story of Doctor Who. All about it. The concept was basically a alien from a species called "Time Lords" travelled everywhere to meet all types of people and go to all kinds of places. Which sometimes included having a companion of sorts. That the alien regenerated when dead and while having memories of the past, always had a different look and personality. Hal's expression showed a lot of interest yet a lot of confusion. Hal didn't know what to make of it. He then listened as she explained it slightly more and more "It sounds like quite the program. I will talk to your other friends about it another time. This is quite the story"
He then nodded with delight, as Elisa agreed that it'd be more fun to come when a show came. Although a empty theater was nice, it was better with a show. "I completely agree. A show would be quite fun" He replied cheerfully. He was glad she and him were getting along as the night went on.
"Ah yes. You caught me!" Hal replied as Elisa said he was biased about her. He raised her hands in defeat playfully. He laughed eventually and responded "I still stand by my case. Regardless of experience or not. I mean every word I announce"
He then kissed her hand a little more as she expressed that she appreciated his support. "I can go to the park by myself at any time. But I am much more preferring to enjoy my time with you. You need not worry of going there ever again. Neither shall Ma-Ti. I will not bring him there either ever" He then smiled as she thanked him "There is no need to thank me. Where you go is where you go"
He then nodded at the promise of coffee and went along. Leaving the theater
*Time Skip*
While elisa had a bagel and her own coffee, Hal had a cookie and a coffee of his own. When asked of his coffee, his face lit up with delight "This is a most wonderful treat. I enjoy it very much. I should drink coffee more often. It is most delicious"
Post by Elisa/Maven Of The Eventide on Mar 29, 2015 20:54:37 GMT -5
Elisa grinned as she kept eating enjoying Hal's company.
"I'm glad you like it. We have coffee back at the house but not every brand is different. So if you like what they serve here you may not like the kind at the house." said Elisa.
She sipped her coffee and grinned. She looked at her watch seeing they still had some time before they had to head back.
"I've really enjoyed today and I'm glad I got to show you some of Chicago. I'm hoping we can stay here just for a little bit as we have been walking for a bit. But maybe afterwards we could go somewhere else. If there's anywhere else in town you want to see." said Elisa.
