(OCC: Wanted the dessert to be free due to the reservation making it so, despite the restaurant normally having free samples only. Sorry if this is so short. Hal's just too polite for me XD)
Hal then showed his own confusion, that this was some type of scam Elisa assumed. Gene told him only about the dinner but this was a surprise thing, Elisa could have a point. Hal turned, thinking it would be rude to leave and then made a decision of his own. He then responded patiently "I feel it best we stay and wait to see what the waiter's point of all this is. If he comes back I will ask if if this is truly free" Hal turned to see the waiter indeed come back to state something but hal interrupted him "Pardon me sir, but my maiden and I have a question. Is this truly free? The only, apparently, thing free here is samples"
The waiter paused but then looked in realization and nodded "Apoligies. I was too fast to answer this dilemma. Oui, the dessert is free but only for people who order reservations for this restaurant, so if you just came out of the blue as some of the people here say, you do not get dessert. Does this answer your questions or do the both of you have more? I assure you, you do not have to pay. If you want you do not have to have the said dessert and I will cancel it"
Hal was glad he recieved an answer without offending the waiter, even if Elisa could've been right and it might of been a scam, but he knew that it still might of sounded fishy. He turned to Elisa, absentmindedly holding her hand out of his concern, and politely asked "What do you think Elisa? Do you wish for this still or do you wish for the check to be delivered? It is entirely up to you"

Elisa nodded agreeing to wait until they talked to a waiter. She listened as the waiter and Hal spoke before he left. She paused looking at Hal as he asked if they should stay.
"Well I've never heard of a free dessert before. They give free samples in stores. But the only think free you get is free refills. Well unless the restaurant has like a coupon for free food. It just sounds too good to be true." said Elisa.
She sighed before looking at him.
"I'm sorry. It's either a scam or really bad business practice. But I guess it wouldn't hurt. But I will be looking at the bill. If they try to add it I'm suing this place." said Elisa.
She was cynical by nature as she was a reviewer after all. Something she couldn't help. But if they were really offering free food she supposed it couldn't hurt to at least try it.

"Oui miss. I understand your worries and frustration. I will let the people know to make sure you do not pay. The reservation should be able to take care of pay for you. Forgive this suddeness. I shall return with the dessert and the bill" The waiter left, and walked quickly and without a word. Hal turned to see him tell the other waiters something and it looked like they were nodding. Hopefully he was right about coming here.
Hal felt terrible now. He didn't want to have made Elisa or himself pay more. If this, which apparently to the waiter it didn't, had more pay it would be Hal's fault and the date would be ruined. He turned to Elisa who seemed to be alright with it for now but Hal was determined to set a good mood once more. Hal held her hand and said apoligetically "Please forgive me my dear. I did not know what the restaurant had to offer for free or not. Gene said it was alright but you were right for checking the prices here" He shrugged sadly "I really hope it is free. I wanted this to be the best night you ever had. It seems it's at a high stake of failing though. If they make us pay for it I will get Gene and myself to fianance it" He said this in a determined way. He then breathed, trying to make light of the problem "I suppose I should of been more careful. You are just so lovely, you deserve nothing but the best"

Elisa relaxed a little and nodded as the waiter left. She looked at him and sighed.
"It's just people are tricked all the time. I did not want to be one of those people. A free dessert just sounded too good to be true. I guess I'm cynical and distrusting by nature. But this war hasn't helped that." Said Elisa.
Maybe she should have kept quiet. She paused as he asked her to forgive him. She smiled and shook her head.
"You didn't do anything wrong. You're the one who arranged this date. I guess I overreacted a little. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to ruin our night." said Elisa.
She felt awful now for speaking up. She smiled though as he said she was lovely and deserved the best.
"You don't have to spoil me Hal. I know you were a king once but I want you. Things are nice but they can get broken. They can get replaced. I'd be happy if we just had dinner at home as long as I was with you." said Elisa.

Hal nodded in understanding, it wasn't a big deal that Elisa hesitated to believe it. Hal had a tendency to by cynical towards things himself, though due to coming here he tried to stay as positive as possible, despite it falling under the cracks of it. He nodded again "War changes a lot of people. It takes many years to create a man, and yet only a day of war can destroy him" He turned and heard her assure him and that it wasn't his fault. He was relieved that she wasn't mad at him but he still felt terrible. He then gave a slightly shocked look at her apoligy of ruining the night "Not at all lady elisa! You made this one of the best nights of my life! Yes it has a few things wrong but I would not change it for anything!" He said this with such devotion, one would instantly believe anything he said. He held her hand slightly tight and smiled profusely at her response that she didn't care about the desserts or the dinner here. She was happy with him and that even though he was previously a king, that didn't matter and all that mattered was Hal himself. That made him feel so much relief. Not even catherine admitted to only wanting hal instead of appreciating his status. He finally felt he didn't need to prove to her as much. Still, he would do his damn best to make Elisa feel like the best woman in the world and be a good love to her.
He responded with a gentle tone "Elisa, no jewel or castle could replace you. You are just so gracious and kind as well as lovely. You have such a fantastic personality that the greatest story-teller could fall short to a mere sentence of yours" He smiled letting out a breath of relief "Let us continue to enjoy ourselves now. Let us continue to be happy with each other. I know I shall"

Elisa nodded listening to him. She hope this war didn't change her too much. But in the end she'd just hoped she could change back at the end of it. She paused looking at him as he said it wasn't her fault. That this was one of the best nights of his life.
"You really mean that? I haven't dated in so long before now. I thought I was screwing this up." said Elisa.
She paused as she held her hand and she could sense he loved her. That he was telling the truth. And she felt the same. She smiled.
"From now on maybe we should skip deserts. Well unless it's ice cream." said Elisa.
She chuckled and then he spoke again. She blushed and smiled at his compliments.
"Thank you. You flatter me." said Elisa.
She grinned at him.
"I enjoy your company too. You're handsome, intelligent, brave, funny, and a gentleman. And I hope to get to know you even more over time." said Elisa.
She grinned smiled he felt the same way wanting to get to know each other better. The waiter returned giving them the desert and she grinned. She thanked the waiter as he smiled and left. She took a bite and grinned. It was delicious.

"Of course I mean it, darling. If I did not, I would not say it. You really are a pleasure to be around" Hal said as he still held hands with Elisa. He saw that she believed what he said and vise-versa with him. He chuckled at the desserts joke, he recently learned ice-cream from the children eating it and he tried it himself and so got her joke. He nodded "Most likely we should skip desserts. They can be unhealthy otherwise" He shrugged at that. He then grinned as she blushed, glad his words flattered her, he was definitely trying to make her feel special. He then looked humble as Elisa called him handsome, intelligent, funny, brave and a gentlemen. He took pride in those things. "Of course Elisa. The more time we spent together, the more we shall enjoy said time" He kissed her hand again as the waiter came and he nodded his thanks as well when the waiter left. He looked at the dessert curiously as Elisa ate it, and when she grinned he knew it must of been good, so he took a bite and smiled also. It was very good indeed. He responded "Very nice. This is delicious"

Elisa grinned at him.
"Thank you. I'm glad to hear that. Perhaps our next date we should just have a picnic somewhere. Just the two of us to avoid distractions. It'd be fun and more intimate." said Elisa.
She grinned as he agreed to skip deserts.
"Well we don't have to skip them. I do feel bad I overreacted. You were just being nice and so was the restaurant. It's like the saying goes "if it's to good to be true it usually is". But I guess this wasn't one of those times. Besides it's cheaper to have deserts at home anyway and where you can have more of them. After all Mrs. Potts, Brock, and the others make such great pies and cakes and other things. We don't really need to eat deserts on dates much. Unless you want to." said Elisa.
She grinned as he felt the same way and she smiled glad he liked her compliments about him as well. He kissed her hand as she noticed the waiter had left the bill and true to his word the desert wasn't on it. She sighed feeling foolish and next time she would ask about any specials or offers before they ordered something. She grinned as she kept eating her dessert.
"Yes it is. So do you have anything planned after this meal? I mean we could just go for a walk or something. I just don't want this night to end so soon. Especially when we don't know the next time we can go out again. After all we have tons of couples here and they deserve time off to themselves too." said Elisa.
Post by Henry V/Hal on Nov 5, 2013 10:49:53 GMT -5
Hal was a bit confused to what a picnic was but he grinned at the idea of doing something private and with elisa only. No fancy clothes or anything, just the two of them. "Yes. I would quite enjoy these picnics you speak of" He continued to eat the dessert and nodded as Elisa talked to him about the dessert and that they didn't have to skip it all the time. He figured that anyway but it was nice to hear that she was considering to do desserts sometimes. Hal liked sweet treats. He responded "I understand. I can relate to this issue. I used to be like that with my subjects. Some of them were honest with me but many spoke behind my back, assuming me as a scoundral. So I can relate to why you felt suspicious with a generous gift such as this." He saw the bill and was relieved that the dessert wasn't on it. He felt slight suspicious but dropped it for the sake to cheer Elisa up but it seemed she did that enough already. He then replied gently and responded, holding her hand "Let us go on a walk. I quite like that. Especially since this may be the only time for this to happen during this harsh time"
Post by Elisa/Maven Of The Eventide on Nov 12, 2013 16:59:00 GMT -5
Elisa grinned at him.
"Then I look forward to our next date. A private picnic for two." said Elisa.
She grinned as they kept eating. She was really enjoying this and would probably come back some time even just for the desert. Although the meal had been nice too. She smiled at him.
"I'm glad this hasn't ruined our evening. I was just being too paranoid and cynical about it. Let's just pretend that didn't happen and enjoy the rest of the evening together." said Elisa.
She smiled as she soon finished the desert as he held her hand saying they should go for a walk. She looked at the bill.
"Sounds good. So all we need to do is pay the bill and then we're off." said Elisa.
(ooc: forgot of hal already paid or it if he's going to pay it. or if they're splitting the bill.)
Post by Henry V/Hal on Nov 16, 2013 10:23:29 GMT -5
(OCC: Hal;s gonna pay for it. Thanks to the power of gene's magic XD)
Hal smiled, sincerely looking forward to the idea of a picnic between the two. He heard her respond to forget about what just happened and he grinned happily "Absolutely. I do not even remember what went on my dear" He eventually finished eating, reminding himself to come back here again soon. He then heard Elisa mentioned paying the bill. Good thing Gene helped him figure out how to pay in this world also, instead of pennyworths and shillings, the people here paid with dollars and coins. Admittedly it was similar to his economy back in his time but it had some differences such as the dollars being green paper. He quickly got a lot of money out, and went to the cashier and spoke very kindly and thanked him. Once the pay was set and the tip made, Hal looked to Elisa and offered his arm once more "Shall we?"
Post by Elisa/Maven Of The Eventide on Nov 18, 2013 11:59:14 GMT -5
Elisa grinned glad they could just drop the subject. She watched as Hal paid and she took his arm as they headed out of the restaurant.
"Is there any place, in particular, you'd like to go? Or are we just going to just walk around town?" asked Elisa.
She didn't mind them just walking around but she would eventually get tired. She knew she wouldn't get bored with Hal's company but she did feel like they should go somewhere.
Post by Henry V/Hal on Nov 19, 2013 19:25:44 GMT -5
Hmm. Where to go was a rather good question. He turned around the area, curious to all the fancy big buildings and whatnot. He had a bad feeling that if he simply said go anywhere, elisa might get bored and so would he. "Perhaps we go to the middle of the city. I wish to know more about all these buildings and perhaps you can start teaching me about your time by teaching me about these buildings" Hal suggested politely. If she objected he would try to think of something different but for some reason this was all he could think about walking to. He wanted to take advantage of this time but this was the best option he had.
Post by Elisa/Maven Of The Eventide on Nov 28, 2013 11:35:04 GMT -5
Elisa grinned as he said they should head to the middle of the city as he wished to know more about the city. And she could start teaching him about this time. She smiled.
"Alright. I didn't expect a history lesson on our date but this could be fun." said Elisa.
She grinned as they kept walking deeper into the city.
"I'm not sure the idea why people starting making them but they take up less space. You can have several tall buildings with several floors. Where you can have offices, or apartments, or even hotel rooms. Apartments are just smaller homes and hotel rooms are just places where people can stay if they pay the owner. Usually you pay day by day unless they have some special rate for the week or something." said Elisa.
She smiled seeing they were passing a bakery and grinned as she could smell the delicious bread, cakes, and other things.
"Mmm. I'll have to remember to come back here sometime. The food smells great." said Elisa.
She turned to Hal and grinned.
"Well what would you like to see first? Anything you want to really know about?" asked Elisa.
Post by Henry V/Hal on Nov 28, 2013 21:30:39 GMT -5
(OCC: This is Hal wishes to go to in case I'm not specific enough, since he has no idea what this place exactly IS: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_Theatre)
Hal was glad to learn and was even glader that Elisa was more than happy to teach him. He then listened to her as they walked much deeper into the city, looking around the huge buildings as if he was a child once more. He was excited actually. He didn't step outside Critic's house to see this place so this was quite new to him and he liked it. He then turned to hear her express pleasure over a bakery, now THAT he knew about at least despite it looking quite different. He made a mental note to one day buy something from there as a little gift or something of that kind to her. He then turned to hear her ask where he wished to go first. He pondered before responding shyly "One of your friends was talking to another about this strange area called a theatre. I wish to know something about that place. I heard yours in chicago, according to your friends, that it is very successful and popular. Once we get there perhaps you can teach me more of what it does?"
