“Oh, trust me, you would know if you had magic blood in your veins,” Maleficent replied with an amused smirk. “When magic is not properly controlled, it can manifest itself in other ways.”
By “other ways,” the fairy meant unchecked destruction. She herself had experienced it when she had first been learning how to control her own magic.
She raised an eyebrow when Jasmine started talking about changing and becoming good and forced herself to suppress a sigh.
“I do hope you’re not going to get your hopes up about me changing my ways,” she drawled, lifting a hand as though examining her nails. “As I told you before, I’m only here because I refuse to be a slave.”

Jasmine sighed in disappointment. Learning magic would have been useful. She guessed she'd have to stick to regular training. When Maleficent said she wouldn't change Jasmine smiled at her.
"You say that now. But who knows? Maybe you'll stay the way you are. Or maybe you'll turn good. I guess only time will tell." said Jasmine.
She paused wondering if she could change the subject.
"So there's only yourself and the three fairies from your kingdom? So magic isn't as common there as it is in my kingdom. And magic even seems even less common here." said Jasmine.
“There’s no need to wait for time to tell you anything,” she said scornfully. “I’m telling you that it’s never going to happen. I’m known as the Mistress of All Evil for that exact reason.”
Jasmine changed the subject then, and the fairy nodded in agreement.
“Yes, magic is quite uncommon where I come from. As far as I know, there’s just myself, Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather.” She frowned, thinking of the previous day. “Even more so here. The people don’t know how to properly react to evil here.”

"And that's a big problem. If this battle goes on for awhile people will start to notice. At least in my kingdom there's Aladdin, a magic carpet, and Genie to help us out. The palace guards were no match for the monsters and sorcerors who attacked. Even with modern technology and weapons I doubt any armies here will be a match for the technology and magic from Ask That Guy's army. We have to find a way to keep the public in the dark for their sake and ours. But I don't know how long we can do that. Hopefully Critic and the others might have some ideas." said Jasmine.
Maleficent had given no thought to how the citizens of Chicago would be affected by the war between the Nostalgia Critic and Ask ThatGuy, and so she was surprised when Jasmine brought it up. Like the princess, she had little hope for their chances – in her experiences, humans without rarely did well against those that did.
Unless they happened to have three little old ladies to do the dirty work for them, the fairy thought bitterly, her grip on her staff tightening. At the mention of keeping the citizens in the dark, she raised an eyebrow.
At Jasmine’s words, Maleficent tilted her head in thought. While she was not aware of any spells that could alter one’s memory, she did know a fair amount about hypnotism, which she supposed would work just as well. After all, it had gotten Aurora up in the tower with the spinning wheel. Maleficent allowed herself a brief smirk before addressing the Arabian princess.
“Not directly,” she replied. “However, there is quite a bit of potential in the idea of hypnotizing the citizens of Chicago – are you familiar with it? I myself used it on Princess Aurora. It was most effective.”

"Hypnosis? That could work. Maybe you could make them think they were dreaming. It's easier to brush off something strange if it's in a dream. I've have a few weird dreams that didn't make sense. When I woke up this morning I almost thought this was all a dream too." said Jasmine.
“Could work?” Maleficent raised an eyebrow and gave Jasmine a cold look, as though she had been offended. “Princess, if I say it will work, then it will.”
The fairy scoffed at the mention of having the citizens of Chicago believe that it was all a dream. It sounded like the sort of thing those foolish Good Fairies had done back in her kingdom, to keep everyone from finding out about their blunder. She would not reduce herself to using a tactic that they would.
“Are you suggesting that we put them all to sleep? Because that’s the only way to accomplish what you’re suggesting, and such petty things are beneath me.”

"I'm sorry I don't really know how strong you are. That's right. You're a specialist in dark fairy magic. Guess that would seem hardly worth it to you." said Jasmine.
She paused wondering what to do as her thoughts returned to an earlier part of the conversation. People here probably hadn't seen real magic. She turned to Maleficent now a bit concerned.
"We said people here have probably not seen real magic. Well, what if it doesn't exist here? Can you use your powers? I mean they're not weakened in any way right?" asked Jasmine.
She was beginning to think if they got discovered it would be nearly impossible to cover it up. She just wasn't sure how to anymore.
Maleficent smirked, pleased to have her greatness acknowledged. When Jasmine voiced her concerns regarding how magic might work in this world, however, she felt the tiniest trace of fear enter her darkened heart. She gave no external notice of this, carefully making sure that her expression didn’t change.
“I hadn’t given that any thought,” she admitted grudgingly. “Why don’t we find out for ourselves, hmm?” She gripped her staff a little tighter. “You may wish to stand back,” she advised. It wouldn’t look good for her if Jasmine got hurt.
The fairy pointed her staff at a nearby armchair and fired a bolt of lightning. The armchair was fried in moments, but it did not burn because of Maleficent’s spell.
“Well, I suppose that answers your question, Princess,” she remarked in a smug voice. “I do hope the Critic wasn’t horribly attached to that chair.”

As Maleficent decided to test out her magic, Jasmine took the fairy's advice stepping back. Well at least way they'd know either way. When Maleficent incinerated the chair she gasped in amazement.
"At least we finally have some good news. You still have your magic. Well I'm glad you're on our side and we don't have to fight you." said Jasmine.
She smiled. She glanced at the remains of the chair. If she was back home she would have replaced it easily but she didn't really have any money with her.
"Well I'm sure he can replace it. It didn't look like an antique chair. But that was incredible. Is your specialty in fire or can you do other things?" asked Jasmine.
(OOC: Oh my gosh, I’m SO sorry it’s taken me this long to reply to this. I don’t even have an excuse other than I thought I’d already replied.)
Maleficent smirked, her ego fueled by Jasmine’s gasp.
“Indeed,” she agreed when the princess remarked that it was a good thing they didn’t have to fight her. Silently, she looked the younger woman up and down with the intensity of a predator seeking out an easy meal. She didn’t appear to be the fighting type, but Maleficent had been wrong more than once tonight. “Well regardless, I doubt the Critic will be too angry about his chair. He seems to be too afraid of me to take action at any rate.”
The fairy paused at Jasmine’s new question.
“That display was but a glimpse into my talent, though I do tend to prefer lightning and, ah, transformation,” she replied, deliberately putting emphasis on “transformation” in the hopes that the princess would ask about it. “I can also cast various spells.”

(ooc: I was about to reply in the We Need You thread actually until I saw this. xd Don't worry about it. That's happened to me before too. Just glad we can do more again. This friendship or future friendship is fun to rp. xd)
Jasmine nodded silently. She wasn't really sure what to say. She did feel bad about the chair being destroyed but Critic could always get another one. Besides Maleficent was right. Jasmine thought she was probably the only one so far who had stood up to her. She was afraid of her that she hadn't let fear stop her from fighting off Jafar, Mirage, or anyone else who had attacked Agrabah. At least Maleficent was on their side. She turned hearing Maleficent mention her powers she was curious about transformation.
"What kind of transformation? Like transforming people into toads?" asked Jasmine.
Maleficent shook her head, blood-red lips stretching into an amused smile.
“Oh, no,” she replied with a small chuckle. “Certainly not. Something much better than that, actually.” She toyed with the gold-and-onyx ring for a moment before continuing, “I can transform myself into certain things. A will-o’-the-wisp… and a dragon.”
She paused, allowing this to sink in, and asked a question of her own.
“And you? How is it that you managed to fight off the attackers in your home if you have no magic?”
