Why did you pick him/her?: for more drama, maybe something to help bond Mikey and Raph over even temporarily.

History:
Donny grew up in New York with his brothers and Splinter. Things were about the same as his regular counterpart. Until one day on a way back to the lair he was ambushed by Shredder's goons and captured. And they took his bandana and staged an accident to make it look like he'd died. He didn't think his brothers would fall for it and be on their way to rescue him soon. He was dragged to a cell and at first, he thought they'd just keep him locked in a cage. But they began to drag him into a lab and experiment on him. He was surprised to not see Baxter Stockman there who was busy on another project. Instead, it was another scientist Shredder had hired. Someone who had once worked with Bishop.
He had been cured of the mutation virus and they'd defeated the mystics and the evil demonic Shredder. He thought the danger was over. Until Shredder's goons had grabbed him. He wondered if this was Karai to avenge her father. Only to meet Shreder himself. He had survived and was now back with a vengeance. And the first step was to use Bishop's old scientist to experiment the mutagen on. He wanted a powerful army of warriors to help him conquer the planet. Donatello was reinfected with a form of the mutagen and it was a success. Donny mutated into his monstrous form once again but only at night. During the day to everyone's surprise he turned human. The mutation had turned him into a wereturtle at night and human during the day. The now human Donny tried to escape but he was unaccustomed to his new human form and Shredder easily defeat him. He was recaptured and taken to his cell where the guards beat him a little as payback for their many failures. He thought all hope was lost until Sunny approached him. Giving him a deal to be his servant and he would save him from the wrath of the Foot Clan. Not even Shredder or Karai would hurt him if he was his servant. At night he would still serve Shredder as his monster but during the day he would be safe with Sunny. Reluctantly, Donny agreed to the deal knowing he would need to train more in his human form to fight off anyone else.
To his surprise, Sunny became his sparring partner and he soon learned to his horror he had been there six months. That his monstrous form was named Ravage and Sunny had renamed him Boi. So no one would mention his turtle name and people think he was alive. That his family thought him dead. And then something awful happened. He began to remember more of his time in his monstrous form and during one of the attacks, he killed Master Splinter. Splinter had recognized him and tried to reach him but had failed. His brothers had been there that day but hadn't seen him. They thought the Foot Clan had killed Splinter and blamed Shredder. They buried Splinter keeping his walking stick as a reminder of what they'd lost. The years went by and Boi was surprised hie was still a teenager. Something about the mutagen kept his body at the same age so he would be Shredder's perfect weapon. He began to lose track of the years after a while and feared his other brothers must be dead too.
But then he heard sounds of a rebellion and turtles and realized they were alive. He then did something risky and tried to break out. He made it to the entrance only for the night to fall and turn into his monstrous form. He was of an attack on the rebellion and this time the rebellion lost a few people including Casey Jones. Although Boi seemed to recognize Casey enough to take him with him destroying the building as everyone thought Casey died just like Boi with no body left behind. A now human Boi was going to bury Casey but Sonny found him and revealed he was still alive. Boi went with Sunny giving up his chance to be free to save Casey. Casey was also made Sonny's slave a punishment Boi knew was more for him than Casey. Casey had lost his left arm completely and had a cybernetic one. And a few scars on his chest. Hearing about everything Boi went through, Casey didn't blame him. And was there for him. Boi felt like he had regained a part of himself and Casey became one of his sparring partners. And feelings had developed for Future Casey. He learned Casey and April had broken up years ago as the war against the Shredder hadn't gone so well for them. Casey had wanted to run with April into hiding and even the turtles had told them to not wanting them to end up like Splinter. But April had made her choice to stay and Casey had left at first. Only to come back and help but their relationship was fractured and eventually, they broke up realizing they both had to focus on the war and not on each other. And over the next few years, Boi and Casey had fallen in love.
Unfortunately, they were discovered one day. And this time they were strong and trained enough to try escaping together. They made it outside to watch in horror as his brothers fell before Shredder's army seeing another version of him and April finishing Shredder and Karai for good. The war was finally over. The other Donatedllo disappeared. Then The Foot Clan survivors charged. Boi fought alongside April and Casey doing his best as they defeated the rest of the foot clan. When Boi revealed who he was April was overjoyed to have him alive after all these years. But learning of his mutation they broke into the lab to find the scientists had erased everything and destroyed the lab seeing Shredder defeated. Boi was angry as his family was all gone. All he had left was April and Casey and a mutation he couldn't control. He wasn't even a ninja turtle anymore.
April, Casey and Boi began to rebuild the worldd until what it once was. April becoming the new mayor of New York while Donny and Casey settled down in the old lair having rebuilt and restored what they could of it. Then one day Donny vanished and woke up in another world. This time with a collar around his neck and once more a slave. And in this army there was a different Shredder. Keeping his identity quiet for the moment as the collar blocked his nightly transformations to his relief. He just had to find a way to get away from the army and destroy the collar. But maybe design something similar for his own use so he could block his Ravager side and not risk hurting anyone again. He still missed his family and especially his boyfriend Casey and his friend April.
