Seto is a pompous, self-centered, arrogant, snobby, condescending and manipulative person. But he is also extremely intelligent, quick-witted, ambitious, compassionate and not above doing the right thing. He's a tough-minded, callous individual but he is anything but heartless. He's extremely doting and protective to others, especially his younger brother. He can also be quite mature, and a good leader, when the situation demands it. He's extremely competitive, going above and beyond to win a game. However, if given the chance, he will sacrifice his ego for the sake of saving people. He will never admit it, but he does have a merciful disposition and usually tries to do what is best for others, especially his brother. He always has strong respect for others when they have talent, power or a strong character.
History:
Seto Kaiba was born and raised by rather kind parents, having a strong relationship with them. However, not long after his brother's birth, they both died from a car crash, leaving them penniless and orphaned. For a few years, Seto and Mokuba were on their own. Mokuba was all Seto had, and the eldest brother refused to leave his brother behind. In fact, he made a vow to take care of his brother regardless of what happened. He stuck by his brother, protecting him and spending a lot of time with him. One day, he and his brother met KaibaCorp's CEO Gonzaburo. Seto immediately made a plan to stake his claim into a safe, providable home. He placed a bet with Gonzaburo, if he won a chess game, he and his brother would be adopted. Seto won, being a gifted chess player and studying the man's moves. He and his brother were adopted but the CEO despised being tricked by a child. However, seeing Seto's immense talent in business, he decided to make Seto his prodigy instead. He forced the boy into laborous studying, determined to make this boy a excellent weapon to make him more successful. Little did he know Seto had his own plans, studying not for his adopted father but for himself and his brother. Gonzaburo forced Seto to focus only on competing, business and making money, forcing his activities and games to be forbidden until he completed what he needed. Mokuba managed to sneak Seto off to play games, particularly card games, giving Seto the love of Duel Monsters. Despite the man's efforts, Mokuba managed to help keep Seto's humanity and passion for fun. Though despite Seto's best efforts to get better, his adopted father saw lack of potential and felt it was unacceptable, and forced him to be homeschooled with tutors to prevent distractions. Seto improved if only to get even with his father for forcing him to a difficult childhood.
As the years went by, Seto became more and more successful, even more than his own father. Even going so far as to make his father buy back a company he bought from shareholders. He developed video games, having a genuine interest in making children's lives more fun, but his father tried to declare war, killing people to make more money and it was then Seto had enough. He was fine with being punished but having others get harmed was where he drew the line. With his brother's assistance, he tricked Gonzaburo into placing a bet on who had more money in the company. Whoever won would be CEO permanently. Seto, thanks to Mokuba's manipulation, managed to get 51% and win the company under his father's nose. In disgrace, Gonzaburo lost the company and Seto was the new CEO. At only twenty one years old.
A few more years went by and he challenged Yugi's grandfather for a Blue-Eyes White Dragon, a special card that Seto had special fondness for. He then fought, and was defeated by Yami and Yugi, forever causing a powerful but complex rivalry. He also gained many enemies after taking their stakes on the company, as well as gaining more power. He created many game complexes and a amusement park for underprivileged children called KaibaLand. He joined Pegasus' game to rescue his brother as well as defeat his business rivals. He fought Pegasus and eventually won, and got into many duels alongside Yugi and his friends. He even made a tournament of his own at one point just so he could successfully find Legendary Cards. He had fought Joey, Tristan and their gang a few times while also alliancing himself with them to defeat greater enemies. His rivalry with Yugi was unquestionably unmatched and the CEO couldn't help but respect the spirit the boy had within. When his enemies were missing from tournaments, he became concerned and the concern grew worse when rumors of previous enemies were coming back. He went to search for Yugi and his team, only to find himself in Ask Thatguy's corner. He agreed to join them for the chance to capture and defeat his enemies. Little does he know, that defeating your enemy meant they were doomed to die.
