Why did you pick him/her?: One of my favorite characters.

Personality: greedy, manipulative, loyal, charming. But getting to know Anya made his greed fade away as all he cared about was her as he fell in love. He let her go thinking he was unworthy of her and risked his life to save her from Rasputin multiple times. And he was surprised she returned to him. He still doesn't want to be poor but he tries to do things more honestly when he can.
History:
For the first 10 years of his life he grew up as a servant in the kitchen. Helping to cook and clean in there. During a party he snuck out to look and was grabbed by one of the chefs and put back to work. But that night Rasputin attacked cursing the family saying they would all die that night. And using his new dark powers he incited a riot within the people who attacked. Dimitri helped Anya and her Grandmother escape. Anya droped her music box as Dimitri took it. The rest of the family died that night. Dimitri fled as well and thought he'd likely never see the duchess again.
He then heard stories that Anastasia had been separated from her grandmother and was missing. She had offered a reward for the girl and as he grew up he befriended Vladimir and they started working on a con to find a girl to play Anastasia. And they finally find a girl named Anya who looks similar enough. She needs to get to Paris so they ask her to come meet them to meet Marie. If she's not Anastasia she still gets to Paris. But if she is she's found her family. So Anya agrees.
Along the way they take a boat, and a train and on foot to get there. But end up going through several near death experiences thanks to Rasputin but they are unaware as his green magical bats cause chaos and they always disappeared before anyone can see them. Anya nearly drowns before Dimitri stops her from sleepwalking off the boat and the tracks blow up forcing them to jump from the train. After making it to Russia they meet Sophie who quizzes them. Anya reveals a boy opening a wall but she thinks she's remembering wrong. And Dimitri realizes Anya is the real Anastasia as he was the one who saved the real Anastasia. He keeps quiet not wanting to alert her.
He has also started to fall for Anastasia and she has for him. And he knows he has no place in her life once she returns to her royal life and grandmother. So he's trying to let her go. They meet Marie who doesn't believe them and reveals Dimtiri is a con man. Anya is furious and leaves and apologizes to Marie. Until they actually talk and share memories. Anya finds Dimitri's music box with the key around her neck as they both realize she's Anastasia as they sing Once upon a December together. Dimitri declines the money and decides to return to Russia leaving Anya and Vladimir behind who's become a member of the court and is dating Sophie.
Dimitri goes back for Anya and finds her under attack by Rasputin. He tries to help but gets knocked out leaving Dimitri to kill Rasputin by destroying his reliquary the source of his powers. This sends the green bats after Rasputin killing him and ending the danger. Anya leaves a goodbye letter for her grandmother and returns with Dimitri and Pooka to Russia. One day Anya and Pooka disappeared leaving Dimitri really worried. He searched Russia and sent letters to Paris but Vladimir, Sophie and Marie hadn't heard from her either. And then Dimitri disappeared and woke up in another world. Joining Critic's army he heard Anya was there and couldn't wait to reunite with her.
