Android 16 may appear to be a brute due to his large size, but he is the very definition of gentle giant. He is peaceful, calm, kind-hearted, loyal and usually believes in being good for goodness sake. Despite this he is no pushover, and will use violence when he deems it needed. He believes in pragmatic and strategic fighting, which is why he does not like to kill but will if the enemy is considered too evil for his liking. While he prefers to be merciful, just, morally honorable and compassionate, he is not above taking people down to benefit the situation. He's relatively friendly, but is quite soft-spoken and shy, having a hard time being social. Still once he trusts someone, he fights to the bitter end for them, being unquestionably loyal. He is also has zero tolerance for cruelty, sadism and pain, which is why he absolutely despises evil behavior.
History:
Android 16 was made as a attempt to revive the lost son of Dr. Gero, Dr. Gero programmed 16 as a attempt to kill goku but felt at a loss of what to do when he was successful with inventing 16. Unable to relive the memory of the death of his son, he locked 16 away never to be seen. One day 17 and 18 released him, activating him to life, befriending him and vise versa. Due to the programming in his system, and less about his own personal desire, he encouraged 17 and 18 to find Goku to kill him. Due to mostly being bored, the other two went with him to search Goku and the three had a fun road-trip causing their friendship to genuinely blossom. Eventually the two went to Goku's house, only to not find him there. Then they went to Kame House, only to find him not there either. Instead they found a confrontational Piccolo who offered to fight 17 in the meantime.
16 was feeling less and less comfortable with his fated mission but went with it anyway as he felt it was his purpose. He saw 17 fight piccolo, and realized that piccolo was even matched with his friend. As he watched the fight happen, he realized another presence by the name of cell. He learned Cell was stronger than 17 and 18, also learning cell's plan was to absorb them to reach a perfect form. He tried to warn 17, only to be ignored as 17 felt that cell was no match for him. Worried about his friends, he tried to get 18 to also escape and even got involved in the fight with cell when he saw the creature mercilessly beat down Piccolo. He unfortunately failed to save 17, so in his desperation he made himself a body shield for 18, escaping with her. While injured, he did buy 18 some time but unfortunately cell found her and absorbed her. With Krillan's compassionate help, he was fixed up by Bulma, who unfortunately got rid of the nuclear bomb in his chest as a means to be safe. New and improved, 16 offered to help with the fight, only to be mercilessly taken down.
In his final moments he befriended Gohan, telling him to let go as it was okay to be merciless with the merciless. If it meant keeping the world safe, Gohan had a right to be violent. 16 encouraged Gohan, being the chain event to cause Gohan's super saiyan 2 as his head was cruelly smashed down by Cell. He was supposed to be dead, only to awaken in a new world that wasn't his own, with the lack of programming to kill Goku in his head. He found himself in a circus, lead by a man named Facilier. After realizing his close friend 17 was here, he agreed to stay, realizing his new purpose was to be beside his brother-in-bond
