Matt's Personality: loyal; protective; friendly; headstrong; compassionate; loner at times; adjusting to his newly adopted family especially given Myotismon was a former enemy.
Gabumon's Personality: Shy, timid. He is very loyal and protective of Matt. He tries to stop him from fighting Tai and be a voice of reason.
History:
Matt grew up in Highton View Terrace with his parents and Tk. The other 6 digidestined lived there in that town. And one night when they were still very little kids they witnesses a digimon fight. Tai and Kairi were the ones who helped Agumon defeat Parrotmon before they returned to the digital world. Years later the monsters were forgotten with time as they often wondered if they had dreamed it up.
At a summer cap Matt was now 10 years old. And in his camp cabin were his brother Tk, Tai, Sora, Mimi, Joe, and Izzy. They were planning to meet up with the others at the camp when it started to snow. And then strange lights flew out of the sky and flew at them. Each of them took one as it formed into a digivice. And then pulled them into a river in the sky and into the Digital world separating them. Once they they each found their partner Digimon and reunited with each other. Not realizing they were in another world at first they fought off digimon trying to attack them and slowly each of their digimon began digivolving into champion form. And despite their best efforts at lookg around they soon realized in another world.
Devumon then showed up. He'd been using black gears to infect digimon and force them to attack them. And scattered them and File Island into parts hoping to destroy them separately when they were weaker> Matt ended up with Gabumon, Agumon and Tai in a frozen piece of land. Matt and Tai fought at first until their digimon snapped them out of it. And after defeating a Frigimon and returning him to normal they headed off in search of the others. Eventually they reunited with the rest of their friends at Primary Village and Devumon attacked. Tk's partner Patamon was the final digimon in their group to digivolve to Angemon and he destroyed Devumon. Angemon using up his energy turned into a digiegg as they learned of Server and a message from Gennai. They reluctantly went with the help of Whamon.
Once there they were given crests that would glow when they found the tags that had symbols that matched a positive trait of theirs. One by one, Matt and the others found their crests while fighting off Etemon and his minions. His powers when he sung were able to make the digimon dedegivolve into their rookie forms making it harder to fight him. Finally after rescuing Sora Tai waas able to activate his crest and Agumon digivolved into his ultimate form and destroyed Etemon. But in the process Tai and Agumon were sent back to the real world. Matt and the others got separated looking for Tai thinking he was still there.
Tai returned from the real world with Agumon and slowly began to gather the group together again. Matt was tricked by Demi Devumon into thinking Joe just wanted to stay there. Until Joe sacrificed himself for Tk getting hit. And Matt realized he was wrong and Gabumon digivolved into his ultimate form for the first time defeating Digitamamon. They temporary split up finding Izzy and Mimi and reunited to get Sora. Sora had also been tricked but helped the others in little ones like stopping Agumon from eating bad mushrooms, giving Mimi confidence, and so forth. They convince her he was lying but then Myotismon attacks them intending to finish them off. Sora realizes her mother and Biyomon love her and she is capable of love and her crest activates as Biyomon digivolve into her ultimate form. Myotismon retreats now weakened.
Now having all their crests and 4 ultimates at their side they meet up with Gennai. He tells them of Myotismon and cards that could get them to the real world. They break in and eventually make their way to the room but they're too late as Myotismon and the digimon get inside. They're able to reopen the door knocking 8 cards correctly but there are 10 as one is fake. Using the wrong one could send them to the wrong world. But Tai guesses correctly as they head back home. They pass out along the way and wake up without their Digimon. At first thinking they were alone but then their Digimon returned just having gotten something to eat.
They learn meet the rest of the campers who closed camp early cause of the snow so they head back home. They split up from the group along the way and get separated fighting off various servants of Myotismon and even Myotismon himself a few times. And during this times Mimi and Joe's digimon finally digivolve into their ultimate forms. Myotismon traps many people at the tv station including Mimi and Sora and turns Lillymon to stone. Sora escapes with the two digimon but leaves Mimi and the otheres behind. The others team up with Sora and Lillymon is restored. And they learn Kairi is the 8th child that can help them defeat Myotismon. Kair gives herself up to save everyone and they go to stop him. Myotismon puts everyone to sleep and plans to get his revenge. Mimi's crest wakes her up and she reunites with the others. Tai gives Kairi her digivice and Gatomon is revealed to be Kairi's digimon and digivolves into Angewomon. And together they supposedly stop Myotismon.
Until he returns as Venom Myotismon. The others are still asleep and they have to defeat Myotismon for good to wake them up. They are able to use a legend and have Tk and Kairi's angel digimon shoot lights of arrow at Tai anD Matt making their digimon digivolve to mega forms for the first time and defeat Myotismon for good. This wakes up everyone up as everyone is reunited but then the sky is disorted showing the digital world. And they realize they have to go back to save it. Kari and Gatomon go with them this time and they say goodbye to their friends and family.
Once there they meet the Dark Masters and despite their best eforts are nearly killed. Piximon shows up and dies while sending them to safety. They hide out but Whamon dies protecting them and they're able to defeat the first Dark Master Metal Sedramon. Matt is tricked by Cherrymon and Puppetmon into fighting Tai again. Afterward, they get tired of fighting and began to split off. Matt and Garurumon go off on their own. Mimi has grown tired of fighting and doesn't want to do it anymore. Joe, Palmon and Gomamon stay with her leaving the core group down to five digidestined. Matt returns briefly after Tk is captured and helps destroy Puppetmon. He then leaves again with Gabumon.
Tai's group defeats Machnidramon next but nearly lose Kairi to being sick. They're able to find some medicine to cure her and learn the dark masters orchestrated everything. They stole the crests and 8th digimon hiding them. While Gennai hid the original 7 on File Island. They reunite with Matt and Joe and fight Piedmon and one by one they're all turned into keychains leaving only Tk, Kairi and Patamon. Tk hears Matt's voice telling him to never give up hope as Tk's crest digivolves Patamon to his mega form. He retrieves the keychains and cures them. Mimi shows up with all their digimon friends and together they are able to destroy Piedmon for good.
They think the danger is over as their friends back back home leaving the digidestined and their partners. Gennai apepars and tells them of the final evil Apocalymon and the original digiestined who once protected this world. They go to face Apocalymon and despite having two megas and 6 ultimate digimon they are defeated and deleted. But they refuse to give up hope as their digimon redivolve into their strongest forms restoring them all back to life. And together destroy Apocalymon and bring beace to the worlds. But the digidestined are forced to say goodbye to the digimon as the worlds will now become separate. Matt and the others reluctantly say goodbye and return to the human world.
A few days later Matt disappears and wakes up in another world at a circus and finds Gabumon and Myotiswon. A collar is around both of their necks. And Myotismon tells Matt he is going to be his new son. And he has a brother named Kal and a nephew named Connor now. Matt is about to protest but finds he can't make Gabumon digvivole. The collars prevent them from attacking Myotismon so he reluctantly agrees to keep himself and Gabumon safe.
