Quote: "She's got this world where everything's better... but it's all a trap"
Name: Coraline Jones
Age: 11
Where is this character from?: Coraline
Why did you pick him/her?: Mostly for fun
Picture:
Personality:
Coraline is independent, curious, brave, noble, creative and energetic. She's also self-centered, whiny, pessimistic, passive-aggressive and brash. She can be a bit of a snob and judgmental, but she usually comes around to anyone due to her relatively kind and open-minded nature. She's a bit pushy and abrasive, due to relatively used to being alone or ignored but she overall is quite good-natured, adventurous and pleasant. She's got a relatively dry sense of humor, usually handling minor problems or awkwardness with humor. Once she trusts someone or gets past her insecurities, she's quite friendly and is especially protective to those she cares for.
History:
Coraline Jones was born and raised for most of her life in Michigan before moving to Oregon at the age of eleven. Thanks to both her parents being forced to move for their new job as writers for a gardening company, coraline was forced to overall change her comfortable life for a new one. Coraline struggled to handle the new apartment, new neighbors and the eventual change to a new school. It didn't help that her father was too distracted, it especially didn't help that her mother appeared to not really care. Resentful towards her parents, she began to contemplate that her life was officially miserable. Until one day a new annoying kid, named Wybie who coincidentally was the grandson of the owner of her apartment complex gave her a gift of a button-eyed doll that looked like her. This doll managed to be her link to a new world made by a woman who looked precisely like her mother but referred to herself as "Other Mother". Other Mother made this new world where everything coraline was unhappy about was changed into something much better such as her neighbors being fun and a other wybie who was not able to speak. Other mother then told coraline that if she was happy she could stay forever, but only if coraline sewed her eyes into buttons. Overwhelmed and frightened by that deal, coraline attempted to flee where she met a talking cat who explained that this was a trap. Coraline eventually confronted other mother who punished her by locking her on the other side of a mirror. This was where she met the ghosts of other mother's other child victims. The children, trapped as ghosts, explained that she was actually the bedlam who used happiness to trap children into stealing their life energy, killing them. Coraline then promised to free them eventually.
She eventually escaped back home thanks to other wybie only to find her parents missing, eventually learning other mother captured them in a attempt to bait coraline back. Coraline eventually returned and made a game for other mother to play: If she found the eyes of the lost children, the children would be freed along with her parents. If she lost, she would allow other mother to sew buttons into her eyes. Despite great difficulty, she managed to successfully find her parents and the children's eyes. She escaped barely and got her parents back. She reconciled with her real parents and actually got used to her new home, even going so far as to enjoy it. She even befriended the real wybie. The bedlam tried to bring coraline back but thanks to wybie, she was rescued and the bedlam was defeated. Things became very normal and nice for coraline eventually.
Until one day she ended up here, at first she was a bit unsettled but she got used to it with time. She befriended some of the kids on critic's army and now she is determined, since she is one of the older children, to make use of her time and assist the army.
Allies: Wybie, Other Wybie, Other Father, The Cat, Her Parents, Critic's Army
Enemies: Other Mother/Bedlam, Defiants Army, Facilier and ATG Army
Plans: Make some friends, maybe have the cat here? Maybe have the other mother here?
