[Richard Hughes]

(OCC: August 8th, afternoon. Bonding thread between Richard and Evan)

Richard was aware evan was afraid somewhat. He understood why. It was hard for someone to be in a new place with barely anyone you knew. Not to mention he was so terrified of being treated as a monster by his appearance. Richard felt sympathy for that. Evan seemed absolutely sweet and adorable. Why would anyone be afraid of him? Besides, his appearance wasn't that frightening. Even if it was, Richard never felt it was right to judge a book by it's cover. He knew evan wasn't deliberately avoiding him, he was more or less avoiding confrontation.

So Richard felt it best to push the issue. Because Richard was a bit stubborn like that. He felt that if he could show evan he was no threat, maybe there would be a understanding between them. Richard noticed evan sulking a little picking at dandelions. Richard got a instant flashback to when Casey would pick at grass when she was upset. Richard took a breath, shaking his thoughts away as he smiled over to evan. He replied "Heya stranger. Glad to see you're---" He then was a bit surprised as evan seemed to panic and hide in the bushes. Richard replied hurriedly "Wait wait! No don't be afraid! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to scare you" He then noticed evan peak out a bit and he smiled warmly "It's only me. I know, I got a ugly face but I won't bite. I promise" He then offered his hand for evan to take "It's okay. I won't hurt you. I just wanted to talk"

Evan had been avoiding everyone since his "bath" the previous day. He still didn't know how to swim and he was nervous. Although one of them was quite nice to look at. Perhaps someone he might have flirted with if he wasn't stuck in this form. He then heard a voice and jumped into the bushes.

"Maybe if I just stay here he'll go away." thought Evan.

He paused seeing who it was and blushed purple.

"It's the gorgeous man who saved me earlier." thought Evan.

He then laughed at his words.

"You're not the ugly one. That's me. You're probably the most beautiful man I've ever seen." said Evan.

He then blushed again.

"I don't know if I want to talk." said Evan, still a little nervous.

Richard was relieved evan seemed to respond positively to his efforts. But it was still clear to him that the new frost giant was frightened still. Richard smiled some more as evan admitted he wasn't sure still to chat. Richard smiled more at the praise evan gave him. He blushed a bit "Aw thank you" He then replied honestly "You know you're not a bad look yourself" He then recalled from smith he didn't like this form and replied honestly "I know you find that hard to believe but I mean it"

He then listened as evan was unsure to talk. He nonchalantly shrugged "Then I can sit by you and we can murder weeds together" He pointed to the dead dandilions with a amused smile. He sat by and picked some grass and replied "I can't really imagine how you feel. Tons of people, tons of new sensations, you're in a form you're not comfy with. I don't want to push you to do anything you're not comfortable doing. But I thought you could use at least a friend" He then smiled again, leaning against the tree a bit "I'm Richard. Richard hughes. What's your name?"

Evan smiled.

"Your welcome." said Evan.

He shrugged and shook his head.

"You don't have to be kind. I know I'm hideous in this form. Not that I was great to look at as a human either. But I was slightly better." said Evan.

Evan sighed.

"Gardening's never been my thing. I'm likely to destroy the weeds with the flowers. " said Evan.

Evan shrugged.

"People keep staring at me. Some like a monster. Others like they want to study me like a lab experiment. And some may just want me dead. Or just hurt me. That's all everyone's ever done to me is hurt me, leave me, or both." said Evan.

Evan paused as he introduced himself.

"I'm Evan. Evan Thompson." said Evan.

Richard was a little taken aback as Evan assumed he was being kind and not being sincere. Richard made a hurt face replying "Hey, I don't say stuff I don't mean. You're not hideous. I think you're good looking. I know it's hard to believe what people tell you but I'm being honest" He didn't want evan to feel so down on himself. Considering what little he knew of evan's past, he knew evan had some people tell him he was ugly and undeserving of certain things. Richard felt no one deserved that kind of pain. Ever. He just cared about evan. He didn't know why but he just did.

"Hey I'm not a gardener either. Let's be bad to the environment together!" Richard playfully replied. He hoped his efforts to befriend would work and evan would come a bit closer. At least trust richard enough not to run away. He then frowned sadly as Evan explained why he was behaving the way he was. He was used to being hurt, in more ways than one. Richard replied "Well I'm no scientist, I'm not here to cause any trouble and I certainly don't think you're a monster. I don't want to hurt you. I honestly want to get to know you. Everybody needs a friend"

He then smiled as Evan introduced himself. With a big smile he replied "Evan huh? Nice to meet you" He then looked back at the sky, before looking back at evan and he replied "I like being outside. Gets my mind clear. Helps me think of what to do next" He then sighed, replying gently "I know you're scared but I think things will work out for you"

Evan raised an eyebrow.

"Well I don't know you. I've been burned before. I'm not going to let someone walk all over me again or trick me." replied Evan.

He chuckled at the other's jokes.

"You certainly have an interesting sense of humor." said Evan

He paused at his words.

"I had a friend once but he abandoned me. Everyone does." mentioned Evan.

Evan smiled.

"It does. I've gone camping when I can." replied Evan.

He shook his head.

"That would be a first. Things never work out for me." said Evan.
