Personality:
Bunnymund at first glance is a no-nonsense, workaholic, strict and somewhat irritable creature but that is not the true him. Bunnymund just takes his job as a guardian and his job working as a holiday character very seriously, dedicating his life to bringing hope and happiness towards others. He does adore children and is a sensitive, caring, sweet soul. He's adventurous, ambitious, determined and is quite brave. He is also stubborn, egotistical, competitive and can hold a pretty good grudge. It takes a lot for him to trust, but once his trust is gained he usually goes out of his way for the person who gained it. He has a dry sense of humor, using sardonic jabs and usually uses sarcasm to express himself. But he's noble, well-meaning and is unapologetic about what he's passionate about
History:
Bunnymund was born Edgar Aster Bunnymund and raised in a species known as Pookas, a large mythical rabbit who could move around and communicate with humans. Bunnymund was the only son of the leader of the pookas, who was ready to make his son take his place as leader. Bunnymund had a fun, easy childhood and was prepared to take his father's place when he became of age, but just before his coronation as leader Pitch Black surrounded his species with darkness. This forced the pookas to scatter where Pitch Black had his shadows kill them all. Bunnymund was the only survivor out of the entire pooka race and was absolutely devastated. He then was comforted by the man on the moon, who chose him to be a guardian of children. Guardians of children were dedicated immortal creatures who would give children happiness and good tidings through certain positive traits and gifts. Bunnymund became a incredible expert in giving children candy and eggs during Easter time, therefore being assigned as the legendary easter bunny. The man on the moon chose him to be a representative of hope, due to easter being about hope and new beginnings. Hope was also bunnymund's center as a guardian, as each guardian had a positive trait as a center. Bunnymund was inspired by his new job and became extremely dedicated to his job, loving the idea of giving kids a new better life.
Bunnymund became a expert at his job, being stealthy, athletic, quick-witted and skilled as the years went by. He met and befriended other guardians such as Nicholas St. North(Santa Claus/Guardian of Wonder), Toothiana(Tooth Fairy/Guardian of Memories) and Sandy(The Sandman/Guardian of Dreams). Together they handled Pitch Black's multiple attempts to destroy the happiness of the children and even more adventures in keeping children content throughout the year. One year in 1968, there was a terrible blizzard so bad that it cost Bunnymund easter, which caused Bunnymund to resent the person responsible who called himself Jack Frost. Even though he was quite powerful and skilled, Jack was not believed in by the children and so he wandered around as a immortal discontented spirit. Bunnymund did not trust jack and did not really like him as jack was too rambunctious and crafty, but was forced to bring Jack to the north pole at North's request thanks to Pitch Black doing another, more dangerous attempt at destroying the happiness of children. By making them no longer believe in the guardians. Bunnymund was shocked and irritated as north felt that Jack should be a new guardian. He did not want jack involved and was in constant tension with Jack but eventually became much more open to jack as the newest guardian was actually useful and helpful. Pitch used his shadows to steal all the children's loose teeth to prevent them from believing in Toothiana but thanks to him, jack, north and sandy they succeeded in giving the kids coins to remember her.
It seemed they would defeat pitch, only for pitch to cause extreme nightmares causing Sandy to be captured and killed. At a loss of what to do, they found themselves stuck with a young girl named sophie who liked the easter bunny the most. While bunnymund developed a genuine friendship with sophie, he realized he had spent so much time working for children he hadn't really spent much time WITH children. Bunnymund used to do that but became so consumed by working his job he became less and less in tune with children. Spending time with sophie made him remember why he enjoyed his job so and he really connected with Jack as Jack did enjoy children himself. Unfortunately the budding friendship was tested as Pitch distracted jack from his guarding post, causing pitch to successfully destroy every egg bunnymund made leading to people not believing in bunnymund. The whole chaos against pitch caused most if not all children to not believe in them, weakening them all in their own way. Bunnymund was turned into a regular bunny and was tempted to give up, but then met a young boy named Jamie, who turned out to be Sophie's older brother. Bunnymund then realized that jack managed to convince Jamie to believe in all the guardians, including bunnymund. Bunnymund, feeling hope once more thanks to jack's efforts in causing Jamie to believe in him, he assisted as best he could to get more kids to believe. Jack made a plan, realizing his center was fun, and encouraged the kids to dream up fun things to fight the nightmares. The plan worked, causing bunnymund to return to his normal form, and for the guardians to get much stronger. They became so strong that they managed to resurrect sandy, who defeated pitch at long last by using dreams. The children became more happy as jack used snowtime to have fun with them. Pitch was eventually exiled and bunnymund finally came to a understanding with jack, becoming a friend of his. Things then resumed normality as bunnymund resumed his job as easter bunny, he did always make sure to visit Sophie as he grew fond of the little girl.
One day though bunnymund awoke to a new world, and bunnymund could tell it wasn't his world by look alone. He tried to look for his burrows but only found nothing. He felt a bit discontent but regained his hope after he found the critic's place, who explained his situation. Determined not to give up and get back to his job, he agreed to work for critic.
