Swallowing His Pride (Open)

[Nuka]

(ooc: July 30th. Morning.)

Nuka saw the attack coming and all he could think of was saving his mother. He knew his family didn't care for him. The only one who probably did was Kovu and he'd insulted him and pushed him away. Now he was in another army and he found he did miss him. But for once he could do something right as he rushed forward. He pushed Zira away from the attack but wasn't fast enough to save himself as he was hit in the side as he fell over. He was in pain, bleeding but he smiled seeing Zira was okay. As she got closer he smiled.

"I'm sorry mother. I tried my best. Looks like I finally got your attention and did something right." said Nuka.

He then passed out as everything went black.

Nuka woke up with a start confused.

"What happened? Am I dead?" asked Nuka.

He paused in shock seeing Scar laying on the floor next to his bed.

"I survived? Oh great. Now they're going to hate me for that to." said Nuka.

He winced sitting up hoping to run and hide in some corner for a while until this all blew over. There was strange white things covering his wounds. They felt nice so he left them on as they seemed to stop the bleeding. As he began to walk away he was shoved to the bed. Expecting an attack he looked up surprised to see Scar concerned.

"I'm sorry. I don't know what you want me to do." whispered Nuka.

Nuka paused hearing his father's words and he shook his head.

"No, you didn't. I'm the failure. I'm not strong. I'm weak. I get it now. Why you chose the little te- I mean Kovu. " said Nuka.

When Scar spoke again Nuka shook his head.

"I must have been hit harder than I thought." said Nuka.

When Mano and Zach came in, Mano hugged him to his surprise and amusement of Scar. Hearing Zach's words he frowned.

"I got to be stuck in bed for a week? Not fair." said Nuka.

Scar had been so worried about both Zira and Nuka in the last battle. When Nuka had returned barely alive, bleeding and unconscious Scar had nearly bolted from the room to kill the person who hurt his son. It was only after seeing Zira and Vitani that he realized he couldn't leave them especially if Nuka didn't make it. He'd fallen asleep here taking his turn to watch Nuka and he saw Nuka finally wake up and try to sneak away.

"NO!" said Scar.

He rushed forward pushing Nuka back towards the bed. But as he saw his son's fear he sighed. Nuka was so much like him that he'd took out his own frustrations and anger out on him.

"I failed you. My own son hates and fears me. I wanted respect, not this." said Scar.

He paused turning back to Nuka.

"But I will do better. I almost lost you and Zira both today. I'm not sure where your mother and sister are. They must still be sleeping or bringing in breakfast. But they will be glad you're okay." said Scar.

Scar shook his head.

"Which clearly was a mistake. Kovu has practically abandoned us for another family and army. I focused so much on one child, that I forgot about you. And you may be weaker now but so was I at first. I got stronger. Although I wasn't really a match for Mufasa or Simba that's why I had the wildebeast and my hyena friends to help." said Scar.

Scar had come to care for Mano as a friend of sorts. Seeing him be so nice and protective of Nuka made him like the young boy even more. Hearing Zach say he would be okay he sighed in relief.

"So he should recover safetly?" asked Scar.

Mano was walking in with Dr. Smith.

"Will Nuka be okay? That was really brave of him to save his mother like that. He's got a lot of heart. " said Mano.

Mano grinned at Zach's words and then saw Nuka awake.

"I'm glad you're okay Nuka. We were all worried." said Mano.

Mano then hugged the lion before Nuka could react as he grinned.

"No one's ever going to hurt you again. Not while I'm here. " said Mano.

Zach nodded.

"He should be walking up any moment now. " said Dr. Smith.

He then spotted Nuka awake and Scar trying to coax him back to bed.

"Nuka you should lay down. You're not recovered enough to be walking around." said Zach.

He turned to Scar and nodded.

"Yes. He will be fine in about a week or so. He just needs to rest, eat and relax. To not overdo it." said Zach.

[Vitani]

Zira wasn't nearly as injured as her son was, but her guilt more than made up for it. While she had a couple bandages it was mostly to prevent infection. She insisted to scar that she would get their son food. But now as there was news he was awake, zira was now going to see her firstborn with some food in tow. This event further enhanced to both scar and her of how much they favored one son too much and not enough for the other two. Sure, there was love underneath but they genuinely were too focused on kovu's potential and didn't even give nuka or vitani just as much chance. They had potential too. Perhaps kovu's betrayal zira should've been grateful for. Perhaps if and when she saw her youngest son again she would thank and forgive him. But for now she had to set things right with her eldest. She nearly lost him. She wasn't going to take this second chance for granted.

Dr. Smith and Loki's news relieved her. Nuka was fine, but only with recuperation. Exactly what she wanted. Zira went over, quietly before turning to her eldest son. The sight of him reignited motherly tears in her eyes. She replied, with evident guilt "Oh my brave, noble son. How could I have been so blind to you?" She went over, giving into her emotions a little and nuzzled nuka's face a bit. She then replied with evident pride "You are a incredible son. And after all my mistreatment" She replied again "I know I failed you my son but it will not happen again" She gave him a steak in a bowl and replied kindly "Eat my son. You'll need to save your strength" She then turned to vitani with a soft smile, relieved her youngest was here. She then replied to vitani "Yes my daughter everything is fine. Dr. Smith is telling us your brother will recuperate"

"Nuka! Mother! Father!" Vitani rushed downstairs, finally allowed to see her brother. She saw her father and mother briefly but only during late at night. Some staff members held her back to avoid the worry of seeing her parent and brother injured. But vitani insisted and managed to get through. She didn't believe it but her brother actually pulled it off. He actually managed to win a fight and save zira from one. That was a lot from someone she didn't think have the ability to. But there was much more horror than disbelief. She lost one brother, she didn't want to lose another. Sure they had problems in the past, one being she believed in kovu whereas he didn't. But the main was that they weren't in favor and whereas vitani was comfortable nuka wasn't. But now that she saw his loyalty nearly cost him his life she hoped it was all worth it. She raced down and was relieved to see her brother alive. She then turned to scar but then saw Zira and replied "Mother! Is nuka going to be okay?!" She then saw nuka and her relief and fear erupted ten fold.

She replied insistently "Nuka! I heard everything! You saved mother!" She then replied to nuka, trying to cover her worry "Don't do that again! You could've been killed! Do you have any idea what we would've done if we lost you?" Some tears threatened to stream but she wiped them away "Just don't do that again!"

Loki grabbed some papers he managed to pull as he too came to check on how nuka was doing. Like mano loki had began a friendship with the lions, Nuka in particular. When he heard of nuka's attack, blind determination set upon the trickster god and loki put a majority of his magic into saving nuka's life. He was attached to this army and it's subjects, loki was not going to let anyone on his watch die. Especially a friend. Loki grabbed the papers and replied "He should recover safely and with speediness as long as he rests" He then turned to nuka and patted his back, chuckling as the teen felt it wasn't fair. He replied "Indeed. It's not fair. But it's the best way you'll get better" He then replied softly to nuka "I really am glad to see you well. What you did was something a lot of people wouldn't do. Take comfort in the fact that you accomplished the impossible"

He then turned to smith and nodded at his words "Also we need to give him monitored checkups every other day to see how he progresses. Make sure the wounds do not get worse" He then turned to mano and replied "Do not worry mano we will make sure he will recover"

Alex had volunteered to come visit as he was in the battle too. He was also injured but he was also amazingly stubborn. Despite bill and smith's advice he was walking around. He had his bandages on, no shirt as it felt a bit too hot. But he did have a black hoodie jacket to overall cover his upper half. He also had jeans on and some stitches on his face. Alex went over and replied "So doc, how's Nuka?" He then turned to see nuka awake and replied with a smile "Hey nuka. Wanted to check on you pal. You gave us quite a scare"
