Why did you pick him/her?: I love him. He's adorable and I want him here mostly to add more interesting characters. Since spongebob has such a long history, I'm just gonna go by the first movie and end it there.

SpongeBob is immensely fun-loving, sweet, optimistic, curious, friendly, easy-going and dedicated to the things he enjoys. He is loyal to the core, absolutely refusing to abandon those he cares about, which is a lot of people. Unfortunately due to his trusting, child-like nature he can be easily manipulated and comes across as a bit of a doormat due to not wanting to hurt anyone's feelings. He's a sweetheart through and through, always speaking highly of others, even if they don't speak highly to him in return. He's modest most of the time, but when praised he tends to let it go to his head due to wanting to seek approval. But he makes up for it by usually having the noblest of intention when he seeks fame, attention and whatnot. He usually wishes to benefit others and be kind to others, as he is relatively positive to be around. He also can be quite emotional and sensitive, due to being quite soft-hearted. He tends to take things personally as he cares about what others think so deeply. He tends to also take failures, struggles and the suffering of others quite to heart, which causes him to be quite anxious. However, he's quite inciteful, skilled, wise, thoughtful and immensely generous.
History:
SpongeBob was born in bikini bottom, the son of Harold and Margaret SquarePants, a kindly couple who raised him quite well. While they tended to coddle him a lot, they also encouraged him to follow his dreams and ideas even if people didn't agree with them. SpongeBob adored his parents and they adored him, and while he was their only child they practically thought of his as good as gold. Due to his sensitive nature however, it was quite easy for kids to bully or push him around. Thankfully his parents encouraged him that he was always better than them by just being nice. He got a couple friends here and there throughout the years and went to many activities he enjoyed in spite of the bullies. He took cooking, art, music and all types of performing arts classes which made him as well-versed and talented as he is. But he never was concerned about that, doing it mainly for fun. Then in middle school he met his best friend Patrick star and they had been buddies ever since, even both of them going to the same high school together. The two of them separated as they went to different colleges, but Patrick dropped out while SpongeBob graduated with a culinary degree, wanting to be a successful cook.
SpongeBob then moved out of his parents home at eighteen, living near both his best friend and a relatively grumpy neighbor by the name of Squidward. SpongeBob then, not long after, adopted gary the snail from a animal shelter due to always wanting a snail as a pet. He then applied for the fry cook job at the krusty krab, a job he had dreamed of getting ever since he was a teenager. The krusty krab was a famous fast food restaurant but was not as popular due to not having a good fry cook. SpongeBob tried out and succeeded with flying colors, earning the respect of the owner by the name of Eugene Krabs. He became immensely popular with the population and krabs valued spongebob's talent. He then went on many slice of life adventures with squidward, Patrick, Mr. Krabs and even a new friend by the name of sandy cheeks. He also tried constantly to learn to drive, but would always fail, but he made up for this by being as talented as he was on the grill. He tended to sometimes be taken advantage of by sandy, patrick and squidward but they all would make up for it due to their friendships with him. And despite mr. krabs manipulating him or using him sometimes Mr. Krabs adored spongebob and vise versa. SpongeBob however had one enemy: And that was Sheldon Plankton, the owner of the chum bucket a restaurant that was the enemy of the krusty krab.
One day plankton decided to use a master plan to frame Mr. Krabs for stealing king Neptune's crown, around the same time Mr. Krabs opened a second krusty krab. SpongeBob was hoping to be manager after loyalty to Mr. Krabs but was devastated when Krabs instead made squidward manager. When spongebob asked why, krabs told him he was too immature and he needed to be a 'man' to run manager-hood. SpongeBob went to sulk alongside Patrick at the goofy goober, his favorite ice cream parlor where he became hungover from sugar. He went back to the krusty krabs, where king Neptune confronted krabs, and due to being somewhat drunk still SpongeBob made krabs out to be a awful person. But then he became immediately sober when krabs was assaulted by the king and even sentenced to die. SpongeBob, despite his resentments, adored krabs and refused to see krabs killed. Neptune's daughter mindy also stopped Neptune from hurting krabs. Neptune, under the guise of mindy's compassion, gave spongebob seven days to find his crown or krabs would perish. While plankton enslaved bikini bottom, both spongebob and Patrick went to find the crown. And despite immense difficulties and being confronted by plankton's assassin dennis, spongebob and Patrick succeeded in getting the crown. Only for plankton to cheat and mind control king Neptune to corner the two and mindy. SpongeBob then confronted plankton who told him that he won because he was a genius and spongebob was just a stupid kid.
SpongeBob, realizing that being a man wasn't really about ignoring his child-like qualities, outright admitted that yes, he was a kid compared to many others in his life. But that was okay. Because that was who he was and his journey made him realize that being himself was the most mature thing anyone can do. He then embraced his childishness by being a 'goofy goober' and rocked out with his guitar to destroy plankton's mind control helmets, freeing everyone including Neptune. Plankton was then imprisoned for his crimes and spongebob was rewarded by both Neptune and krabs. Neptune called him a honorable member of bikini bottom and krabs declared him the manager of krusty krab 2. SpongeBob happily became manager and had many more slice of life adventures, helping mr. krabs run his second restaurant whenever possible.
One day though squidward went missing, and spongebob went to find him. Only for he himself to awaken on land. He would've nearly dried up and died were it not for both Mira Nova and Baxter Stockman giving him a water necklace to help him breathe and live on land. Grateful for Mira and Baxter saving his life, he vowed to help them in whatever trouble they gotten into. He can only hope to be helpful and eventually return home.
