Why did you pick him/her?: For Ursula to finally confront/meet her, be motivation for eric, maybe if we get ariel to have mother daughter bonding. Or maybe we get a triton we have grandfather-granddaughter moments.

Melody is a combination of both her parents. She has her father's adventurous, determined, thoughtful side, as well as her mother's spirited, stubborn, brave and curious side. She has a lot more bluntness and opinionated behavior than both her parents, resulting in her being more impulsive and emotional than either of them. She's hot tempered and gets quite verbally aggressive when angered. However, she is also a lot more honest, empathetic, friendly, generous and cunning also. She is socially awkward but makes up for it by being immensely sincere.
History:
Melody was born the only daughter of Ariel, the daughter of King Triton, and Prince Eric of Glowerhaven. She was born when ariel was 23 and eric was 24. At first her parents were planning to have her be the princess of both glowerhaven and alantica and it seemed like it would go well when Melody had her christening day. She met her grandfather at her christening, being naturally interested in him and the ocean heritage she had. Things went horribly wrong at this meeting however when morgana, Ursula's younger sister, kidnapped her threatening to kill her if triton didn't surrender. Thanks to her father and her grandfather's power, melody was fine. But ariel was traumatized by this incident and was even more scared when morgana was no where to be found. Ariel admitted to her father he was right to be overprotective to her and decided to do the same type of thing for melody. Until morgana was found it was best to keep her mermaid side a secret, which meant she couldn't go to the sea. And for a while the plan worked, melody was a quiet child who listened to her parents teachings.
But things changed when melody was seven, she became interested in the sea quickly and as such would go to it. Due to her mother not approving, she did it always behind her mother's back, as she was a admittedly creative child. She did however engage with Sebastian, the only sea creature ariel conversated with and melody. Melody became good friends with him but ignored his warnings to abide by her mother, annoyed with her overprotective behavior. Despite her annoyance, she was quite close with both parents, her mother especially. She and her mother got along quite well, having a lot in common, including feeling outcasted by other people. When she got bullied, ignored or shunned, ariel would always support or defend melody, going out of her way for melody. This caused melody to feel SOME guilt for lying to her mother but in the end she would always choose the sea. The sea was the only place that felt welcoming, right and comfortable for her. But ariel would tell her it was too dangerous and it angered melody as she didn't understand why. It came to a head one night, on the celebration of melody's 12th birthday. She hid a amulet with her name on it, unknowing it was a gift her grandfather hid away to protect her and awkwardly went to her birthday party.
The party went horribly wrong, melody didn't know how to engage with other kids and got overwhelmed when they laughed at her embarrassment. She ran to her room to cry and was comforted by ariel, only for her to find the amulet and confront melody on where she found it. Melody explained she went to the sea, as she felt uncomfortable at home. Ariel was angry and told melody off for disobeying her. Melody snapped, saying she just didn't understand the sea, believing ariel never went on it. She ran off, running away from home. Resentful and believing her mother just didn't get it, she went off to find out about the amulet. She then found a fish named Undertow who claimed morgana had the answers, so she met morgana who manipulated her into believing morgana would give her anything she wanted. Melody wanted to be a mermaid and morgana gave her a spell to temporarily turn her into one. Then morgana lied to her that her trident was stolen by a evil mermaid king by the name of triton and it can only be taken by someone of mermaid blood, and in exchange for the trident she would make melody a mermaid forever. Melody agreed, befriending a walrus named dash and a penguin named Tip along the way who helped her get the trident. She then was about to give it to morgana, only for ariel to try and stop her. This lead to morgana proving that ariel lied about certain things, particularly that both ariel and melody were of mermaid blood of their own. Angered by her mother's lies, she gave the trident to morgana, motivated by her own personal spite. This lead to morgana capturing ariel and stealing the trident to defeat triton. Melody then learned triton was no evil king but her grandfather, and ariel only did the things she did to protect her from morgana.
Feeling shame melody was at a loss of what to do once she was captured and imprisoned in a water cage. Unfortunately the spell wore off in the meantime, causing melody to nearly drown, only to be saved by Flounder, Tip and Dash. Feeling responsible, melody confronted morgana as her father was unconscious, ariel and triton were overpowered and her people couldn't do anything. Melody grabbed the trident back, giving it back to her grandfather and managed to help save the day. She then reunited with her parents, apologizing to her mother and was somewhat shocked when ariel apologized to her. Explaining she was wrong for what she did but was just trying to make sure melody was safe. Melody then explained she did the things she did because she felt that she was just a bad child. Ariel explained that she was her perfect daughter and wouldn't trade her for anything else. Triton then came and both melody and he bonded, triton than offered her a gift: A choice to live with him or live with her parents. Melody then explained she wanted both. She then united both sides of her family and ariel completely gave her the blessing to visit her grandfather's kingdom whenever she wanted. Even ariel and eric sometimes would turn into mermaids alongside her to visit triton. Things became much more happy, melody visited the sea and her grandfather often while also finally becoming accepted in her human kingdom, even enjoying spending time on land.
One day though her father disappeared and melody was terrified morgana was responsible again. Then she herself disappeared, and she learned of a sea witch named Ursula who she knew was the sister of morgana thanks to ariel explaining that to her some time ago. She agreed to stay on atg's army, afraid to go anywhere else, and she can only hope her father is found and that her mother is okay.
