Personality:
Phoebus is well-meaning, noble, easy-going, sardonic and compassionate. He has a sense of humor and tends to use it when it comes to certain conflicts. However, if a situation is dramatic, he will face it professionally and be a calm and serious leader. He does have moral standards, believing people should not be mistreated or abused for any reason of any kind. Hence why he refuses to engage in prejudiced or pointless violence. He believes in a peaceful environment and goes out of his way to be accepting and understanding of others. He's brave, going out of his way to do the right thing even against many odds. He does come across as stern and will put on a polite face to keep things in order, as he does believe in order and rules. However when it goes too far and hurts others he will take a stand. Despite sometimes focused on just getting things done, he means well and does what is best for others. He tends to get mixed about what is socially right and morally right sometimes. He wants to do good but can come across as a bit too logical and callous when faced with a dilemma. However, when it comes to being morally kind and understanding, he will put his logic aside as he does have a overall positive disposition.
History:
Phoebus was born and raised in the outskirt of france, raised by his quiet but fun mother and well meaning but strict father. Like his father before he became a solider and spent at least two decades helping out in a war. He returned to his beloved home thanks to Judge Frollo hiring him as his captain. He got lost and stumbled upon a fight between a gypsy girl and two of frollo's men, phoebus seeing the girl do nothing wrong helped her in his own way by stopping the men. He then got the men to take him to meet Frollo. Despite not really agreeing with frollo's mindset of the gypsies being the main enemy, he agreed to do the job if only to gain a good paycheck and reputation as he felt his life was in fact being a soldier. He joined alongside frollo to the festival of fools, making sure to prevent the peace from being disturbed. A young man named Quasimodo entered and won a contest for ugliest face, making him the 'king' of fools. Some guards, finding it funny, bullied him and publicly embarrassed him. Phoebus was disgusted by it and wanted it to stop, but was told by frollo to hold as a 'lesson' needed to be learned. Before phoebus could protest, the same girl he met at the town square stood up for him and called frollo out for his hypocrisy. Phoebus was then ordered to arrest her, which he attempted and failed to do.
She escaped and phoebus was under orders to find her, which he agreed to do. He did find her and met her at a church, wanting to get to know her as he was fascinated and impressed by her. The two engaged in a relatively nice conversation, getting their names and he learned her name was Esmerelda. Frollo interrupted their conversation but phoebus lied that she claimed sanctuary to protect her. Despite some mistrust here and there, the two became relatively good allies. He snuck in the church again to see her only to be confronted by the young man from the festival who had a admittedly different appearance. He would eventually learn this man was named Quasimodo and he was just as loyal to her as he was. Phoebus however was trapped in his job and could only help so much.
One morning frollo decided to hunt Esmerelda down once she had escaped the church she claimed as sanctuary. He searched every crook and nanny, capturing every gyspy he could find as a prisoner. The more paranoid and angry frollo became, the more disgusted phoebus was. Eventually it came to a head when he confronted a baker and his family for hiding gypsies. Despite claims and proof to the contrary, frollo found them guilty and wanted them burnt down. Phoebus however saw this as too far and refused to follow the order to burn the building. Frollo did it anyway and phoebus deliberately saved the family, causing him to be labelled as a traitor and was penalized to die. Phoebus, thanks to Esmerelda saving him, managed to escape but got a wound in the shoulder by arrows shot at him. He was then taken to the church to be healed and hidden away, this caused phoebus and Esmerelda to express their romantic feelings for each other. Frollo eventually came to the church to visit Quasimodo, phoebus was forced to hide and he heard frollo claim he knew where the court of miracles was. The court of miracles was a main land of gyspies and a hideout for them, and knowing frollo, phoebus knew this spelled disaster. He went to go find the court and asked Quasimodo to come with him and was appalled when he said no. Phoebus called him out, saying he was ungrateful for Esmerelda's compassion and then went to leave. As he was leaving Quasimodo came to help him and worked alongside him to find the court. They eventually did, but got confronted by Clopin as spies, fortunately Esmerelda saved them both and called them allies. They managed to warn them but it was still too late as frollo baited them into a trap to lead him to the court of miracles. Phoebus was arrested and forced to watch as Esmerelda was sentenced to a public burning. Thanks to Quasimodo she was saved and phoebus rallied the citizens to protest and it resulted in a huge but successful fight. He managed to go up the church to save Quasimodo from a firey death, reunited with Esmerelda and it resulted in a peace at last.
As the public finally accepted Quasimodo, phoebus and Esmerelda got married. Not long after that Paris got a new judge, a kinder one, to keep justice and phoebus was rehired as captain. They then had their son zephyr and things went relatively quiet for a time. Then a well known circus group came to town around the same time as the festival of love was about to begin, phoebus grew suspicious as they were active in crime. He began to judge them and assume them as thieves, which included madeline a girl Quasimodo was interested in. He tried to make Quasimodo mistrust her but Quasimodo, along with his family, was disgusted by it. Phoebus, feeling guilty, went to just search the circus and ignored madeline for the moment. Only to realize Sarouch, the leader, was attempting to steal the biggest bell and he nearly succeeded. Madeline was confronted for her assistance and, with a heavy heart, phoebus arrested her. Not long after her arrest sarouch captured his son as a bargaining tool. Madeline convinced him, Esmerelda and Quasimodo she had a plan to help him and they agreed to let her help. Sarouch though threatened to hurt zephyr if phoebus refused to let him escape. Worried for his son's safety, he agreed to let him go, terrified to lose his only son. Thanks to madeline and Quasimodo however, zephyr was saved and phoebus realized the error in his misjudgment. He then celebrated the festival, pronouncing his love to his wife and continued his easy life.
One day though, his son, Quasimodo and madeline disappeared. He managed to eventually make a search party and as he did, Esmerelda also disappeared. Scared to lose his family, he was hellbent on finding them. He then was found here, seeing a army with Quasimodo and madeline in it. He agreed to stay for them and his son but has his doubts of the army. Thankfully it seems some members are also distrustful of the army he was in, and phoebus will go wherever his family does. So he will keep his mouth shut for his friends, wife and son's sake.
Allies: Esmerelda, Zephyr, Quasimodo, Madeline, Defiant Army
Enemies: Frollo, Sarouch, ATG and Facilier Army
Plans: None so far. Except bond with Esmerelda and Madeline and his son.
