Cub:
Adult:
Personality:
As a cub, nala had a adventurous spirit with a opinionated mind. She had a lack of tact though, putting her thoughts out there regardless. She also was somewhat selfish, tending to childishly put her desires out first. She made up for this though by being overall loyal, kind and compassionate. Now, as a adult, she still has many of her childhood qualities, having a opinionated adventurous mind with a compassionate, sweet and loyal heart. However, she gained social awareness, cautiousness, wisdom and patience. She is extremely family oriented and selfless, as such she does what she can to put others need before her own. She tends to also reserve herself when she feels it to be best. That being said, if she feels something is wrong or someone is out of place, she will stand up and speak her mind. She also does what she can to encourage freedom, independence and personal strength. As such, while she focuses on her children's safety/well-being she also is determined for her children to speak their minds as well as be independent in their own right. She is well meaning, determined, thoughtful and kind, but also feisty, ambitious and spirited.
History:
Nala was born into the pridelands with her single mother, sarafina. Her father, a rogue male, left sarafina unaware and unconcerned of her pregnancy. Nala was quite close with her mother but was also quite close with the royal family, simba in particular. She and simba had been best friends since infancy, and even became betrothed to marry him when she became a adult. As much as she adored simba, it felt a bit off-putting to her as a child, as she viewed simba as a brother as opposed to a husband. Unbeknownst to her, she'd change her mind as a adult. But as the time passed, one day simba raced to tell her about a place he heard about. As first she wasn't interested but simba managed to change her mind and they both managed to trick zazu, who was their obligated chaperone, to lose sight of them. At least for a small while. She and simba then went to the elephant graveyard, and managed to get themselves in danger, confronted by the main hyenas Shenzi, Banzai and Ed. Fortunately Mufasa rescued them and returned them home, nala brought back to sarafina who reprimanded her a tiny bit before welcoming her home.
Not long after things seemed to return to normal somewhat, until scar encouraged them to meet him at pride rock. Scar then proceeded to tell them the horrible news that both Mufasa and simba died in a stampede accident. Nala, absolutely crushed, wasn't the same since. She had become a lot more reserved and quiet, thanks to being the only cub in the pride. She managed to survive though under scar's reign, even being a impressive hunter. However she saw her homeland become destroyed, supplies ran low and scar wasn't doing anything about it except complain. Nala, feeling desperate, left to find help or food supply. She managed to find a new land, and became hungry as a warthog was seen alone. She raced after it, only to be confronted by a rogue male. She defeated him and was surprised when the male seemed to know her. Then he explained he was Simba. After many years of mourning and grief, Nala was beside herself with joy as she reunited with her best friend from years ago. She also met simba's friends timon and pumbaa, pumbaa being the warthog she tried to kill. She made up for her mistake then expressed relief, but also hope that he would return to pride rock to claim his throne. She was shocked again as he said he was no longer earning of this title and she couldn't understand why he was being so obtuse. But she put her questions aside, realizing that it didn't matter at this moment. All that mattered now was her best friend was alive and the joy turned into a nostalgic sadness. She was so happy but the pain of his loss came back, she told simba that while it was important for everyone. It especially was a joy for her because of her feelings came back but even stronger, to the point of romance. The two bonded romantically and nala confessed that she loved him. They then talked about his past, nala curious as to why he didn't just return when he had the chance. Sure, it made sense to not come back as a child, but why not as a teen or right now as a adult?
Simba claimed he needed to escape, nala didn't like the answer saying they needed him. This slowly progressed into a fight, simba yelling that she just didn't get it. Nala though DID want to get it, but couldn't due to him stalling. This resulted in them going separate ways. Nala was tempted to just leave, angry at his lack of respect. But Nala realized that simba was far more important. Not just because he was the king, but because nala valued him as her mate and best friend. So she went to find him to apologize and maybe encourage him to talk, but then found out from Rafiki that he left to the pride lands. She told timon and pumbaa to follow her but was focused to just find simba. She then followed him to the pridelands, seeing simba clearly have a change of heart and mind. She loyally followed him to defeat scar, only for scar to make claims that simba was hiding something. Confused, nala asked what he meant and simba eventually confessed that he was responsible to why Mufasa was dead. Nala, confused and a bit stunned, stood in place but then listened as simba and scar fought. Regardless of scar's manipulation to make it seem like simba did it on purpose, nala realized that simba was in the middle of the stampede accident and didn't intend for musfasa to die. She went to try and stop the fight but was barricaded by the hyenas. She then was at a loss of what to do. Then simba rose against scar, yelling at him to speak the truth, then scar confessed that he murdered Mufasa. Motivated by rage and disgust, nala faced the hyenas head-on and encouraged the other lionesses to do the same. Then she battled consistently before the rain came down to stop the wildfire. Then there was news of scar being murdered by the hyenas, and wanting their land back, she banished the hyenas alongside her mother and sarabi.
Then simba became king, as was his right, marrying her and having two cubs, kiara and kion. They banished the traitor lions known as the outsiders while nala helped her children learn the ways of the pride lands alongside her mate simba. Her eldest daughter kiara who would be heir to the pride rock throne. Kion, her youngest son, inherited the lion guard a group of animals destined to bodyguard the king and the pride rock subjects. Things were quite easy going all things considered, but then her mother AND daughter disappeared. Nala, nervous, went to find them then disappeared herself. She found her daughter and mother, alongside a runaway outsider cub by kovu. Despite her own personal misgivings with the outsiders, she forgave kovu and took him in, even approving of said friendship/romance with kiara. Then she heard of her mate simba being enslaved by mechakara, in a army that had scar and zira there. Nala stays to protect her daughter and help her mother, but she's hellbent on getting her husband back. She lost him once, she wasn't going to lose him again.
