Why did you pick him/her?: For yet another friend for Simba to rely on.

Personality:
Rafiki at first glance is a bit scatterbrained, easily distracted and overly excited. But he's immensely wise, thoughtful and kind-hearted. He has immense awareness of the things around him and despite his easily cheerful self, he does know how to help and take things relatively seriously. He's protective of those he cares about and goes above and beyond to help. He's comforting, fatherly and charming. He's also quite spiritual, making things calm and collected, influencing others to take the time to appreciate things.
History:
Rafiki's early life is not well known, but Rafiki was raised by many baboons and was a shaman for a long time. He befriended musfasa when he was a late adolescent and always assisted Mufasa whenever he could. He became like a family member to Mufasa and was at every major event in his life, including his marriage to Sarabi, and the birth of his son simba. He baptized simba and was there whenever musfasa asked, but he didn't become too close with the young cub, knowing he was not ready to meet Rafiki yet. But unfortunately Rafiki would not meet him until many, many months later. Mufasa's death was a huge blow for Rafiki's spirit and he nearly considered losing all hope for the pridelands, knowing scar was destined to ruin it. He then learned that simba was alive and Rafiki went to find him. He found the cub no longer a cub but a spitting image of Mufasa himself. Rafiki met simba and showed him the right way, telling simba it was best to confront his past head on and not be afraid.
He assisted simba in defeating his uncle, protecting him if need be. He then became Simba's high shaman, just like he was for his father and went out of his way for simba's family as well. Including the birth of his daughter Kiara, baptizing her to be the next heir to the pridelands throne. One day though zazu informed him the whole royal family was no where to be found, kiara being the first to disappear. Then her grandmother, then her mother now simba. Rafiki had a suspicion something was magic but wasn't able to figure it out until he himself disappeared. He was found alongside timon and was imprisoned by dark nella for his usefulness and to make simba obey his own master mechakara. Timon and simba were mechakara's slaves while he was forced as Nella's. Rafiki is taking it in stride though, more focused on simba's suffering as his uncle and aunt are here pestering him. Alongside scar's children. Rafiki can only hope to escape.
