Personality:
Quasimodo is optimistic, cheerful, pleasant and overall is a kindhearted and sweet individual. However he's immensely trusting of others, a bit too much so, and tends to rely on superiors instead of his own instinct and intuition. He is brave, noble, compassionate and loyal but he is also insecure, needy, lonely and easily emotional. He is hard to anger but once angered he is a unstoppable rage machine. He has a reliance on being pacifistic but will fight if it is needed. He's intelligent, creative, charming and quick-witted.
History:
Quasimodo was born to a gypsy family, but he never got to know them, his mother murdered by Claude Frollo. He was doomed to die but the archdeacon of the church nearby saved him by guilting the religious frollo. He told him god would punish him for harming the child of someone frollo cruelly murdered. As such, he was raised out of obligation and brainwashed to believe he was abandoned as a baby. He was raised in the belltower and claude financed his raising by the church. The church cared for him as a infant and toddler but around his childhood frollo did do his part and fearmongered quasi to NEVER leave the tower. Quasimodo, having no family, felt frollo was just trying to protect him and obeyed and as the years went on he became very lonely. Despite his desire to please his master, he loved the city and the world, he wanted to see the people, smell the food, appreciate the art. However he was forced to stay here. His friends Laverne, Victor and Hugo arrived to meet him when he was at least thirteen and would insist he try to explore but Quasimodo.
One day, at twenty one years old, he grew extremely disillusioned that, yet again, he would miss the festival of fools. A yearly celebration of fun and excitement, where people could break rules and do the opposite of what was expected. He attempted to ask frollo to go, to which as he expected frollo said no. Quasimodo decided, for once in his life, to not obey. He snuck out and enjoyed the festival. And even won a contest. But the people eventually started to tease and bully him, fortunately a young gypsy woman named Esmerelda saved him and managed to get the crowd distracted. Quasimodo never forgot this moment and as Esmerelda was forced to claim sanctuary at his church, befriended her and assisted in getting her to escape. As a thank you, she gave him a necklace which she claimed to be a map of sorts. He then started to realize he had a crush on her and he awaited for her to return. Weeks went by and frollo hunted her down like a common criminal and eventually Esmerelda did come, only to give Phoebus, a captain who betrayed frollo, to be healed and to hide from frollo. It was here he realized Esmerelda and phoebus were developing a romance much to his sorrow.
However, he eventually learned to let it go, considering frollo's next move was to kill the court of miracles. He helped phoebus find them, which unintentionally also got frollo to find them as well. To his guilt and shame, he was chained to the bell tower. His home... was now a prison. Or at least he finally realized after all these years his home was always a prison. He felt his guilt eat him but he saw Esmerelda be sentenced to a burning and Quasimodo REFUSED to see his friend perish. So he escaped and declared her his patron of sanctuary and risked his life to protect her. He stood up to frollo, calling him out for the years of emotional manipulation. He then learned then, by frollo, that he also lied about his mother. And lied about everything. He then managed to defeat him and was rescued in the nick of time by phoebus. He became a hero and a beloved figure in Paris.
As a couple years passed he became a public friend of the town. Everyone knew and loved him. He was good friends with Esmerelda and Phoebus, even becoming the godfather to their son Zephyr. He still lived in the belltower though, enjoying it. He then one day saw a circus come into town with a young woman by the name of Madeline, Quasimodo had a even bigger crush on her but at first avoided her. She tried to confront him once but was frightened by his appearance. But once she got to know him, they began to bond and they proceeded with a romance. Unbeknownst to him, madeline was engaging with him at first to steal La Fidele. But as their time increased they fell in love with each other. Sadly, during a raid and realization that madeline was involved in la fidele being stolen and assisted the ringmaster Sarouch, Quasimodo felt betrayed and used, allowing phoebus to arrest her. He then learned that Zephyr was missing due to the boy being curious and hunting down Sarouch and he let both Esmerelda and phoebus know. Madeline managed to convince them all that she was repentant and wished to help them, and she did, they managed to find sarouch but he used zephyr as a bargaining tool. If they did not let sarouch go, he would kill the boy. Madeline convinced Quasimodo eventually to let her go as she had a plan to get zephyr, thanks to madeline's tight rope skills and quick thinking they saved the boy and sarouch was arrested for his crimes. Then Quasimodo and madeline continued their romance. Things then got a bit quiet, until madeline disappeared. Worried, Quasimodo made a personal mission to find her. Only for he himself to get missing. He found madeline at a place called Ask Thatguy's and stays for her but is not exactly pleased with this outcome.
