Where is this character from? Brother Bear 1 & 2
Why did you pick him/her?: Koda needs his brother, and he's one of my favorite, yet sadly underrated characters.

Personality:
Impulsive, mischievous, playful, friendly, protective, selfless, heroic, brotherly. He's very protective of Koda and Nita. And he still regrets killing Koda's mother. He knows no one blames him not even Koda anymore. Since then he tries to get the full story and all the facts. He doesn't want to make such a big mistake like that again. He's grateful Nita is there to help him as well. Twice his mistakes cost the lives of his brother and Koda's mother. He doesn't want anyone else to suffer because of him.
History:
Kenai grew up in a normal village. He was the youngest of three brothers. Sitka, his eldest brother was the leader of the village and Denahi was the middle child and peacemaker between the brothers. When he gets a bear totem from Tanana, he's disappointed viewing bears as monsters. He forgets to tie up the nets properly after a salmon catch and a bear steal the salmon and attack the village. The brothers try to fight it off but Sitka dies protecting them as the bear gets away.
He gets into an argument with Denahi at Sitka's funeral. Denahi doesn't blame the bear but Kenai does. In a rage, he goes after the bear and after tracking it down kills it. But the spirits are angry he did this as the bear was only protecting itself. Denahi had followed Kenai and believes the bear killed Kenai finding Kenai's clothes. Kenai tries to talk to him but he can't speak human anymore and flees to safety.
Tanana tells him he must go to a place where the northern lights touch the earth to be human again. On his journey meets several animals including Ruut, Tuke, and Koda. No one believes he is a human turned into a bear. He soon learns Koda is separated from his mother so Koda helps him try to find her. Unaware he was the one who separated them. they hitch a ride on some mammoths to shorten their journey.
Denahi finds them and attacks but manages to escape and find a group of bears doing a salmon run. Kenai has no idea how to do it so the other bears teach him how. Although puzzled about how he can be fully grown and not know how to did it. When they swap stories Kenai soon learns to his horror he has killed Koda's mother. He tells Koda who is furious and runs away. Kenai goes on his own to reach the Northern Lights but Denahi finds him again.
Denahi's about to kill Kenai when Koda shows up and saves him. He tries to turn himself human again but sees Denahi is going after Koda. He jumps in front of Koda to protect him just like his Koda's mother had done before. Being brave and selfless he passed the test and Kenai is turned human once more. Denahi is horrified to realize he nearly killed his remaining brother as the two brothers are reunited with a ghostly Sitka. And Koda reunites with the ghost of his mother. Kenai realizes he can't leave Koda alone and when Koda tries talking to him but neither can understand each other. Kenai asks to turn into a bear again to be with Koda and in doing so Denahi tells him he has become a man.
Kenai leaves but occasionally visits his brother when he can. Even though Denahi can't understand him in his bear form he enjoys Kenai and Koda's visits. But they meet away from the village to not startle anyone. The village knows Kenai is a bear now and keep their distance not wanting to startle either of them.
A few months later, Kenai and Koda are met by Nita. She was granted the gift to speak with the bears so with Kenai they can burn an amulet so she can marry her new love Atka. They were old friends but she had moved away when he was younger. But the amulet bonds them so she can't marry another while it exists. They take the 3-day journey to burn the amulet. They burn it and she can no longer speak to bears. But an avalanche happens and they nearly get killed but Kenai manages to save them.
Nita reluctantly heads home but finds she can't marry Atka as she's fallen in love with Kenai and Kenai has fallen in love with her during the journey. Koda goes to bring Nita back but gets attacked by Atka. Kenai rescues Koda and Atka attacks them. Nita follows trying to stop them but Kenai is injured and thrown off a cliff. Nita runs to Kenai as she regains the ability to speak to animals as Koda revealed he asked the spirits to turn Kenai human again. But Kenai can't abandon Koda so Nita asks to turn into a bear so they can all be together. Nita is turned into a bear as the three head off into the woods. A broken-hearted Atka returns to the village realizing he has lost and realizing he nearly killed Kenai.
One day Kenai found Koda had vanished. He searched for him asking his animals friends and even Tanana and the Great Spirits for help. All they could tell him was Koda was gone and they weren't sure where. The only comfort he got was Nita being there with him until she disappeared one day. And Kenai was alone again. Returning to the great spirits he pleaded with them asking to return Nita and Koda. If someone had to be punished to send him away. Instead Sitka's ghost came to inform him they've learned of a war going on in another universe. A war that has pulled people from many different worlds including Koda and Nita. Sitka doesn't know much of the details but Nita and Koda are there and alive. Before Kenai can learn more he finds himself in this strange new world. He doesn't know how he got here but he knows he has to find Nita and Koda.
