What You Want And What You Need (John Darling)

(July 28th. Morning.) Pete grinned as he walked into the tent. It was empty. Everyone was busy training, sleeping, eating or whatever else they were doing. He could explore to his heart's content and maybe try out some tricks of his own. It did seem spooky to come in here alone but he was going to have fun. He grinned and ran trying to do a cartwheel but not able to finish it.

"The kids back in Passamaquoddy made it look so easy." said Pete.

He sighed getting up and dusting himself off. As he did he thought he heard a voice.

"Is someone there?" asked Pete.

John was supposed to be with his sibling Michael, helping with the chores as was many members responsibility. But he managed to convince his sister to do it for him by bribing her to do twice the labor next week. He then followed pete to the circus, knowing the boy was going to be there due to announcing it to Facilier. He had grown feelings for the youngest Gamic. He forced them down at first, thinking it wasn't his place to fall for the second born heir of the gamics. But the more he denied it, the stronger they became. John never, ever thought he was gay but he never found interest in girls at his school. And he found himself somewhat amazed by how attractive peter pan was but he forced his crush down for the sake of awareness his sister had feelings for him.

The point was, he decided to no longer deny them. But also no longer force them. He was going to let Pete decide. If he wanted to stay friends, john would understand. He then followed pete and then went to hide in a tree and muttered to himself "Alright john you can do this. You just go to him and say...." He then heard some noise and saw pete fall down and he gasped "Pete!" He then panicked as he saw pete look in his direction and he hid at first. But then pete's voice came out and john showed himself eventually. He shyly waved to pete "Hi. Yes. It's me. I, um, I thought I'd come by and maybe hang out with you. If you don't mind of course" He decided to do small talk first, let pete welcome him into the environment. Play smart about it. It worked for him before.

Pete paused looking up seeing John and he grinned. He loved his brother but he was older and spending more time with Gi. He liked Gi but he was jealous at times. But when more kids showed up he didn't miss Olive as much as he had more new friends to meet and play with. He'd seen John around but hadn't really had a chance to talk to him.

"Hello. You're John right?" said Pete.

He smiled at him.

"I don't mi nd. I was trying to do a cartwheel but I can't do that right. I wanted to try to do an act for the circus but I guess I need to think of something else if I can't even do this." said Pete.

"Yes. That would be me. I do apologize for my abrupt behavior" John quickly defended. He was realizing a bit now how odd it was for him to hide. It filled him with even more shame that he already felt. He wanted to get on pete's good side and didn't want to be seen as odd or weird. He then noticed Pete reply that he didn't mind. That he was here to make a circus act. He then tapped on his own chin and replied "Well. I don't think giving up is a good idea. I could.. perhaps teach you if you'd like. It's not easy but once you get the hang of it it'll work out" He then did a pretty decent cartwheel. He wanted to help pete with his act and didn't feel it right for the other boy to give up. Then again john was more stubborn than pete was.

He then had a idea and smiled softly "Would you mind if I joined your act by the way? It sounds interesting to me" The truth was he wasn't really concerned about the circus act, but he wanted to help pete. And also spend time with him. So he felt volunteering to join the act would help him with both goals.

Pete paused at his words and grinned.

"Were you sleeping back there? I'm sorry if I woke you." said Pete.

Pete paused at his words and grinned.

"You think you can teach me?" asked Pete.

Pete grinned.

"Sure. Although it may take awhile before I get it to be an act. Even if I can do a cartwheel that may not be entertaining enough. I just want to think of something fun to do." said Pete.

John blushed as Pete asked if he slept there "Oh no, no--I was, well, I was--" He panicked, deciding to lie to prevent looking like a weirdo or creep "Researching on bugs. Yes, bugs, I was fascinated with them" John always liked bugs so this seemed like a likely excuse. John knew Pete probably didn't understand the feelings he had. He hoped with time he would reciprocate. But being with Pete now was worth it, even if it was simple talk. John was relieved Pete was willing to be taught, as well as have John join him. John replied with a assuring tone "Not to worry! I can do some magic tricks for our act too! Or we can do a fun swordfight! I can help you make an act" John then took Pete's hand, blushing as he realized what he did. Still, he raced to the tent, replying "Follow me, I'll help you practice"
