Quote: "Who am I? WHO AM I?! I am the guardian of lost souls! I am the powerful, the pleasurable, the indestructible mushu!"
Name: Mushu
Age: Thousands of years old due to being somewhat immortal
Where is this character from?: Disney's Mulan and Mulan II
Why did you pick him/her?: Because I've caught word Mulan has been claimed and she needs her guardian after all. Plus he's a fun character
Picture:
Personality:
Mushu is a diva, front and center. He's socially open, he's outspoken, he's charming and full of life. He's also selfish, egotistical and has a tendency to come across as overly obnoxious due to his incredible energy. He's mostly so energetic because he tends to want to prove himself that he is immensely useful. Despite his ego, he hates making mistakes and is a bit of a perfectionist, believing his way must go right or not go at all. He overall means very well, he is genuinely always looking out for others for their sake and their sake alone. He's loyal and unbelievably empathetic, he always tries his best to be helpful and kind. He also has a tendency to be protective of those he cares about and will sacrifice himself for the sake of helping others.
History:
Mushu was once a all-time powerful guardian, always assisting the Fa family and their problems. He screwed up big time however thanks to his lack of knowledge for Fa Tang's war-time. He failed Fa Tang miserably, causing him to die in battle by beheadment. As such he was fired and demoted to guardian waker, one who basically calls upon the guardians for meetings and be the alarm clock of the group. This demotion did wonders to mushu's spirit, knowing he was disliked and frowned upon. Granted the guardians never liked him but he got away with it thanks to being a guardian but now they deliberately made fun or insulted him thanks to this job. One day though, the descendant Fa Mulan ran away from home to save her father from being killed in battle himself. Mushu, seeing a chance, tried to convince the guardians to help protect her. They of course said no and told him to awaken the great stone dragon. He of course failed even THAT and had to grasp at straws to prevent the others from knowing. He managed to go undercover and become Mulan's fated guardian.
At first it was hard, for both of them, he had no idea what he was doing but he knew he did not want to fail this girl. So he did his absolute best to be her cheerleader, and his advice helped her as well as comfort her. She managed to pull through the army ranks pretty well and even assist the whole squadron to not be killed by the huns by avalanche. She got injured however and it revealed her true gender to the soldiers, who of course due to the laws in their country were going to kill her because women fighting was punishable by death. However, thankfully, their captain now general, Li Shang refused to kill her due to her saving his life. She however was greatly shamed and was banished. Mushu, devastated, confessed to her that he was to blame, due to lying himself about being her guardian. They were going to return home but Mulan noticed the huns return and head for the emporor's palace, mushu not wanting to abandon her went with her. At first the squadron refused her help but after seeing she was the only one who was aware the emperor was going to be kidnapped, finally decided to LISTEN and join forces with her. Mushu helped in any way Mulan asked him to and was witness to Mulan successfully saving all of china. She was honored for her efforts and even offered many jobs in the emporor's court. She refused of course, wanting to return to her father. But the emperor made it clear that she would always be offered it again should she desire to. Mushu then returned home with her and the guardians reluctantly gave him back his guardian title. He officially was her guardian.
Many, many months passed and Mulan commenced a warrior job in her village and was one of the few women to be a soilder for hire. She was a celebrity, well-loved and respected. As for mushu? Well he was living pretty, having the guardians wait him head to foot. That was until Shang proposed to her. You see, they've been dating ever since then and shang wanted to marry her. Mulan accepted and at first mushu was THRILLED. His favorite girl? Getting married? That was great! But the guardians ruined his fun due to making him realize that martial laws declared that once a couple was married, the husbands guardians were to be the child's guardians which meant mushu was fired again. Mushu did NOT want that to happen, so he decided to work his way into breaking the two up. Especially since the two didn't really have much in common. While that was going on shang and Mulan were to escort the emporor's three princess daughters to be betrothed to the allies three princes. Mushu wasn't really focused on them that much but he found their rebellious nature be crucial to his plan. Shang was a law-abider, wanting to please his kingdom while Mulan was a free-spirit unbothered by tradition. Seeing the princesses rebel and romance Chien Po, Yao and Ling would cause shang to be upset and Mulan to be upset. He did some things to cause them to argue and fight, along with reveal the princesses' romances and it did genuinely cause them to consider breaking off the engagement.
At first mushu found this good, his job was in place, but then the guilt seriously weighed him down. Especially due to seeing Mulan so angry and hurt. He confessed eventually, naturally Mulan was angry with him but mushu felt a sense of relief in being truthful. Only to be part of a bandit attack costing, allegedly, the life of shang. Not wanting to fail the alliance as well as relieve the princesses from being forced to marry, Mulan sacrificed herself to marry one of the sons. Absolutely devastated for Mulan, mushu decided to genuinely stop it by disguising himself as the golden dragon of unity. He succeeded in not only stopping the arranged marriage but forced the king to release his demanding vow against the princesses, allowing them to marry their man of choice. Mushu felt more relieved than he had in a long time. Yes, he lost his job, but he gained a lot more by making Mulan happy. And much to his surprise, he was NOT fired from his job. Due to shang and Mulan combining the guardian rights for their possible child. Which meant mushu would also look over the Fa descendant alongside shang's guardians. And things seemed right as rain. At least until Mulan was no where to be found. Mushu was terrified, Mulan never wandered off, that was one of the few traditions she kept, to always let a family member know where she was going. So he searched and found her here. Ever faithful, he stayed and will stay for her.
