Max is someone who tends to take things to heart, as such he is determined to impress people, particularly to gain approval. Because of this he appears more tough and confident than he is, he tends to have a bluntness to him that tends to be harsh when he is confronted. He is easily anxious, especially about failure and letting anyone down, because of this he's a perfectionist and tends to do anything he can to seek approval, even if that means lying or doing wrong things. However, he is very kind and very well-meaning, going out of his way to overall do the right thing. He's a bit mischevious, cunning and sneaky, tending to have ambition to succeed in what he enjoys such as sports. He is incredibly clever, talented and creative but lacks confidence and tends to be quite insecure about it. He also has a bad temper, causing him to lash out when angered. He is however IMMENSELY loyal and will not abandon any of his loved ones or friends and can be very sweet and romantic.
History:
Max Goof was born in america and proceeded to live there most of his life. he never knew his mother, only raised by his father Goofy. When he was younger he was a bit unashamed of his father and who he was, but as he grew into a teenager, he became awkward. Because of his awkwardness he got bullied, it caused max to want to gain approval. This lead to him being completely embarrassed by his father's more loving and overprotective ways, causing a slight strain in his relationship with Goofy. As he progressed in high school he developed a crush on Roxanne, and vowed to earn her approval and affection. He tried some schemes such as the powerline dance in his auditorium in school, and while the dance was a hit with the students, he got in trouble with his principal. The principal told goofy that if max kept his behavior up he would be a criminal and get himself hurt. Unaware of the principal's overreacting, goofy got nervous causing him to force a summer vacation with them to bond. Angered and hurt by his father, Max got into a very bad attitude... at least at first. When they met up with Pete for fishing, he and goofy finally got to genuinely bonding after a chaotic hijink with Bigfoot. Max even started to reconsider his lie to roxanne about really going to a concert which was why he could not go a party she invited him to. However the temptation was too strong and he made a new path for goofy to take him to the powerline concert.
He felt a bit guilty about the whole thing, so he chose not to say anything to his father, causing them to go all over to places they wanted as if nothing changed. The road trip started to become fun, until goofy became wise to his scheme. Goofy's anger caused max to once again be upset by his father's insistence to control him. Which lead to a fight started by the car engine being released. The two finally let out their feelings, max in particular. Max explained he was so upset and mad at goofy because he wanted independence and felt like a baby, but goofy explained to him that he wasn't trying to control max's life, but that he was trying to be PART of max's life. Guilty and saddened, max finally, finally started to look at goofy's side and realized his father overall meant well and loved him, and that max loved him for who he was despite everything. The two began a conversation and finally agreed to no longer hide feelings but to talk to each other. Which lead them to finally go to the powerline concert to disprove the lie. But Max felt it was still quite hollow so he decided to tell the truth, and let roxanne decide. He told her the truth and she replied she was fine with who he was, and the two began a romantic relationship. And they did date for a while.
At least until roxanne got accepted to a college VERY far away from him, and roxanne felt overwhelmed with the idea of a long distance relationship. Because of this, the two broke up. Max blamed himself for it and vowed that if he was to romance anyone again, he was to be absolutely perfect. Old habits die hard, and max still tried to gain approval. So he went to the best schools, he couldn't apply to the one roxanne went to because it cost too much money, so he went to a college just as good. A college that was pretty darn successful. Particularly for one thing and one thing only: The College X-Games. Max loved sports and with his friends Bobby and P.J, applied and succeeded in getting in. He graduated high-school and went to the college, much to his father's sadness. He was relieved though, finally wanting some life of his own. He unfortunately got in trouble with the Gammas, due to refusing their invitation to join them because they only wanted him and not his friends. Despite wanting to be well-liked, he did not want to abandon his friends so he risked it and then made a bet with Bradley Uppercrust about winning. The loser would be towel boy for the whole semester. Max felt like he could handle it, until his father came along and tended to be a bit smothering. The intention was good but goofy just was in denial of his son's age. However, thanks to max’s meddling, goofy let him go after he romanced the librarian and joined the gammas. It seemed to work out until the gammas managed to cheat their way to giving them less points in the qualifying round, and managed to have goofy qualify more than they did. Angered by the failure, he took it out on his dad who explained he didn't care about the games, he only agreed to be closer to max. Max though demanded that goofy was pushing him to his breaking point and to leave him be. Goofy later though tried to warn him about bradley's cheating, but max wasn't going to listen due to anger.
However bradley was not only a cheater, he was a dangerous cheater. He was more willing to harm others, especially if it meant winning. Max realized his errors and apologized publicly on camera, begging for his father's help. The two became a team and once again came to a understanding. Max finally realized his father was just going to be the way he was and that even though he got a bit smothering, overall Goofy DID respect him as a adult and DID want max to have his own life. Because of this max became supportive of goofy as his team member and even helped him win. Unfortunately bradley activated a rocket in his skateboard and caused both him, and one of his members named Tank, to crash into a building. Max helped tank and eventually did win but it wasn't worth it, due to just wanting to stick it to Bradley. He eventually was pleased to see his father graduate and gave him the trophy as a present. He then proceeded to start his second year, alone. Until he arrived here, thanks to a strange storm he entered the critic's army. He saw his father's friend willie and agreed to stay.
