Why did you pick him/her?: He's a fun bumbling idiot and be fun for him to reunite with his former genie ally Jafar.

History:
Abis Mal is a leader of a band of thieves. He's always looking for a new way to get rich or get some treasure. After some recent heists, Aladdin, Abu and Carpet broke in and stole their treasure including a jeweled flower. The thieves gang were furious after they got away. They planned to kill Abis Mal but he was saved by finding Jafar's lamp in a well. He tried to clean it freeing Jafar as the gang of thieves fled in terror. Jafar tricked Abis Mal into using two wishes one to find a treasure underwater and the second to return him to the desert. They then team up to get revenge on Aladdin.
They capture Genie, Abu, Jasmine, Sultan, and Carpet and frame Aladdin for Sultan's murder. Unfortunately while they're rejoicing their plan in the throne room, Iago betrays them and frees Genie. Who rescues Aladdin and the others. They then go after Jafar and Abis Mal. Abis Mal gets stuck on a cliff hanging on while the battle between Jafar and the heroes rages on. When Jafar's lamp is set into the lava killing Jafar, Abis Mal is upset he can't use his third wish. He forms a new gang and gains a new second in command in Haroud. They aren't always successful as Jasmine, Aladdin and the rest of their friends constantly stop them. One day Abis Mal ends up in a new world and finds a circus. He joins it upon learniing Jafar is there as he feels he still owes him a wish not aware Jafar's no longer a genie.
