Making Up Lost Time(Jim Hawkins)

[John Silver]

(OCC: May 4th, afternoon. Friendship thread between John and Jim. Because we need these two badly)

Silver groaned as he fixed some parts of his cyborg leg. His arm was great, his eye was tolerable, but damn this leg could get rusty faster than he could cook an omelet. But he supposed this was his price for the risks he took at a young age. He supposed it was his form of karma. So silver couldn't help but accept it. Especially when he was lucky to be alive just long enough to see his jimbo again. When Jim told him he wanted Silver to be his godfather AND forgave him for the actions he did, Silver felt like he won a million dollars. He made a oath never to betray Jim's trust ever again. He was going to make sure his jim was safe, even if it meant risking his life again.

Speaking of which, Silver noticed Jim got busy as the war went on. He supposed it was stress of taking care of the young ones. Jim always had a potential of responsibility in him that was never noticed. It only needed some prodding to be noticed but Silver saw such progress in the boy. He was beyond proud of Jim. Silver still felt like they needed some heart to heart, just in case the boy was stressing out. He walked out to thankfully notice Jim alone finally on a chair. Silver leaned against the wall and replied "Well now, you have some time for this old man, jimbo?"

Jim grinned seeing Silver join him and blushed at the words.

"Sorry Silver. I just have more family than I ever dreamed of. And a boyfriend. I love my mother but I may never see her again. I have two new parents, and brothers. And I've been training how to use this magical ring Black Lantern Spoony gave me. But you are my family too and I'm sorry I haven't been around much to hang out with you. I want to fix that." said Jim.

He stood up walking up to Silver and hugging him.

"I'm just glad you're here. I was worried ever since we went our separate ways after Treasure Planet blew up. I knew you were out there somewhere having more adventures." said Jim.

He paused with a chuckle.

"For a while I even thought of naming my son after you. John Black has a nice ring to it. I guess two guys can't really have a kid that way so maybe I'll adopt. If that'd be okay with you." said Jim.

[John Silver]

John smiled, happy at all the support jim was getting. Silver could survive with only a few friends but Jim needed as much support as he could get. He saw what jim was like with little support. He was isolatory and very unfocused. John shrugged it off and replied sincerely "Oh don't you worry about all that, lad. I'm glad ya got yourself a new family here. Ya need all the support you can get. Just come see me from time ta time. Whenever ya like" Silver didn't mind it at all, it was just he missed the kid. After all, the reason he stayed was because of jim. But if he wanted to be with BLS or his parents that was fine too.

He hugged the boy back tightly "Oh you know your silver can't go down tat easily. Old silver was just up to his old tricks. Travelling aimlessly. Tellin' tales of the amazin' treasure planet and the boy who managed to save me skin" He winked to jim and gently punched his arm. He then listened to Jim as he told him that he was planning to start a family and that he was going to name a son after him. John couldn't help but look down and tear up "Ah jim, you're gonna make me rust me eye again, lord" He wiped his eyes from the tears and hugged Jim "Namin' your son after me? That's worth more than all of flint's gold, lad"

[Indigo Lantern Jim Black]

Jim shook his head.

"It's not a new family. My family has just gotten bigger. And you'll always be part of it." said Jim.

He chuckled.

"I'm glad to hear that. I'd be sad if something happened to you. What about everyone else back home? Dr. Dopplar? Amelia? My mother? They're all ok? I mean as far as you know right?" asked Jim.

He chuckled.

"I'd like to make you the godfather to him and all my children. That way if something happened to me you'd be there for them like you were there for me. To tell them of our adventures together and maybe some of your own." said Jim.

He paused looking at him pleadingly.

"I know I have a wonderful family and army here. But there's always a chance something could happen. I want you to be there for my kids whether I'm here or not. Because I don't want them growing up with out a father. Not like..."

He trailed off as he flashed back to that day of his father leaving and his mother crying on the table. His father had walked out on them and might as well have died. He would make sure that nothing short of death would would separate him from his kids and the rest of his loved ones.

"Ah you do me old heart good, jimbo. I'll always be part of your family as long as you'll have me" Silver was honored to be part of jim's life. It made him feel pride but it also begged the question of why his real father left them. Did the fool not understand what a great kid he had? Did the fool lose his heart? What caused jim's father to not want to be a part of jim's life? And more importantly why? Well it didn't matter, silver was willing to take the place of teacher and parent if he had to. He grew immensely fond of the boy.

"Well as far as I know ya mother is still really successful with an inn. Talked to a friend of your mother's who told me she was alright. As for the good captain, she's back into the military but only half time to help with the doctor and her kids. That's all I heard from rumors, so I only heard good things about the others. Bless them all really, it's good to hear nice tales every once in a while" Silver did travel quite a lot, and from what the bartenders told him sarah was very popular for her inn was considered one of the better ones. As for captain amelia she was respected in the military and a couple army soilders talked about her in a positive light. So he was only telling jim what he heard. Because silver could tell it might ease the teen's mind to hear his mother and friends were fine and not worried.

"Now you listen here boy, you are not your father. You're far better than he is. Ya care enough to want to plan for the future. Don't you worry, I'll look after your tykes should you have them. Old silver may be old but even he can handle a fight or two" Silver replied sternly but affectionately. He did not want jim to worry about things like this just yet but jim did have a slight right to be concerned. First a war and then civilian life in a planet not his own, that was bound to be stressful. And jim was clearly someone who had great expectations on himself, he didn't have a easy lifestyle, constantly getting into trouble or trouble finding him. He no doubt tended to blame himself, especially for things that weren't even his fault.

Jim grinned.

"And I'll always want you in my life Silver." said Jim.

Jim smiled.

"I'm glad she's alright. I guess Captain Amelia and Dr. Dopplar will be there to help her if she needs it. I just never realized how much I missed her. I mean I went on the search for that treasure and...."

He trailed off as a horrible realization set in.

"What if she thinks I left too just like him? He broke her heart. I don't want to break it again. But there's no way back. I don't think there's even a way to send messages." said Jim.

He was starting to panic a little as he hugged himself trying to keep himself calm.

"I don't want her to be sad." whispered Jim, feeling so broken in that moment.

How had he forgotten about his mother for so long? He'd focused on this war, how it affected him, and his new family and boyfriend? But what about the people left behind in their old worlds?

"What am I going to do?" asked Jim.

He paused at Silver's words and pulled him into a hug as he could feel his tensions and fears decreasing.

"Thank you. Be there for my kids and the rest of my family too. My brothers, my parents, and my boyfriend." said Jim.

Silver gave a fond, soft smile as jim promised he always wanted silver in his life. Silver was feeling more at peace as jim confirmed his friendship with him. When silver left a part of him feared jim would lose concern for him or even hate him for the things he did. It was very nice to see that wasn't true. Silver vowed from now on to be here for jim. He then saw Jim get extremely concerned for his mother. About how she would feel and how she would react to his disappearance. Silver saw in his eyes the fear and silver immediately wanted to calm him down. "Now now hold on lad. Don't panic lad. It ain't your responsibility to worry about you being like your father. You're so much better than your father. I told you once ya got greatness and I meant it. Your mom will be fine. She'll either come here with those scientists finding a way to get her or we'll just go back home. She won't be alone I promise ya lad"

Silver then pulled him into a hug, gently patting his back, holding him close "Aw jimbo. Ya mom is lucky to have ya as her son. But I promise ye one way or another she'll come here or you'll get back to her" He didn't know how but he hoped ask thatguy had a solution. To have sarah come here to live so jim wouldn't have to leave his new family behind or he move with some of his new family back home. He didn't know how it would be fixed but it had to be fixed eventually right? Silver then replied at his question "Well for starters lad you worry about you surviving this blasted war. You just do what ya need to stick against the current. And I'll help ya any way I can"

He then smiled and nodded "I promise. I'll be there for them all. The kids, your new parents all of it. I support it all lad. Any friend and family of yours is family to good old john" He then turned to jim and then his eye glowed red and he gave a solemn look "That being said, that lantern got any funny ideas, that ask thatguy ain't the only one he'll have to be worried with. Let him know that. I may have changed me ways, but I am still the toughest mark"

Jim smiled at him.

"Thank you, Silver. For everything. I don't want to think what my life would be like without you in it. Probably still boring life back at the inn.." said Jim.

He nodded.

"I hope she's ok. At least Dr. Dopplar and Captain Amelia will be there to help her out occasionally. At least I hope so." said Jim.

Jim sighed.

"I used to think we could go home but the longer this war goes on the more I fear this won't happen. At least not soon. We could be stuck here years Silver. And what if time moves differently? What if I get back and she's not there anymore?" said Jim.

He paused feeling bad.

"She's going to think I abandoned her like he did. I can't let her think that. But I don't even know how to send messages between worlds." said Jim.

He pounded the wall in frustration, fresh tears coming out of his eyes. He turned to wipe them away. He was letting the emotions get the best of him. For so long it had always been him and his mother and now she was all alone and he had no way to comfort her or bring her here.

Jim sighed and nodded.

"I'll try. I have more family and friends here than I thought. I'm really glad you're here." said Jim.

Jim grinned.

"Good. That's good." said Jim.

He chuckled at Silver's threat.

"I appreciate you looking out for me. Just go easy on him if you want to give him the shovel talk ok?"said Jim.

Silver couldn't help but smile a tad as jim thanked him for being around. It made him feel guilty still about all the things he did but he was glad jim held no ill will. He then nodded "Aye. The good doctor and captain should be right for ya mum. It'll be just fine lad" He then worriedly looked as jim got frustrated. The boy had a right to feel afraid but it shouldn't of been his burden to bear. At least alone. He then sighed as jim asked the painfully right questions. The boy had a point, what if they never got home? What if they couldn't get home? What if it was too late? Silver then tried to answer but then jim expressed such frustration as to pound the wall. He sighed, replying gently "Listen jim. You can't be worried about all that stuff on top of this war. Ya gotta focus on surviving. That's all you can do. You gotta let ask thatguy and dark nella worry about sending us home. They're the ones who should be worried about those questions not you. It ain't ya fault you're stuck here and can't talk to her"

He then sighed again, worried himself, what IF they were too late? Silver may have not met jim's mom but he felt a concern for the woman. At least for jim's sake he did. He replied though, genuinely wanting to calm jim down "Lad. I think your mother thinks much higher of you than that. She'll have faith you'll come home. I may not know her, but I know she's a good mom to you" He then smiled a bit as jim seemed to calm down somewhat. He shrugged "Eh. I'm just lookin' out for ye. Like I promised I would"

"Oh I'll go easy on him for now lad. But if he breaks your heart, I'll break his legs. It's as simple as that" Silver jokingly replied, winking. He knew jim loved the lantern so he would be jovial towards the lantern but if bls had genuine bad intentions and broke jim's heart. Silver would genuinely go back to his somewhat bad ways and make the lantern wish he was dead. He was protective of jim. No one would hurt him. As long as he had anything to say about it.

Jim nodded.

"You're right. Thanks for talking me down." said Jim.

Jim smiled.

"I hope so. I wish I could let her know I'm alright." said Jim.

Jim grinned.

"Well I don't know if anyone could hurt him. I mean he's technically a zombie I think. But I appreciate what you mean." said Jim.

[John Silver]

Silver smiled as his words seemed to have an effect on jim. He was relieved he was helping. Silver replied kindly "It's no trouble lad. I just tink it's best for you to let the leaders focus on their responsibilities. You just focus on livin'" He then made a mental note to take his own advice. He had to help himself, and jim, get out of here eventually. There was no way he was staying here. Especially when he valued his life as much as he did.

He then nodded as jim expressed he wanted to communicate with his mother. Silver replied "We'll find a way. But who knows. Considering this mumbo jumbo maybe days or weeks here is only minutes back home. But then again we don't know. Ask thatguy should figure it out though" He sighed, somewhat annoyed. This was a concern. He then replied "But we'll find a way, jimbo don't worry" He then smiled, chuckling as jim corrected him about his boyfriend. He shrugged "Zombies can hurt like anyting else but like ya said, I'll be nice and won't"

He then scratched his face in wonder. He felt like getting to know more. But not for protection just to get to see what jim was up to. He replied, a curious tone in his voice "How'd you two get together anyway? Did he ask you? Did he treat ye right? I sure hope so"

[Indigo Lantern Jim Black]

Jim nodded.

"I'll try. But it's a lot harder than before. I'm just taking care of the Benbow and my mother. Or off finding treasure. I got younger brothers to look after. Pinocchio was held captive by one of the armies at one point. Both Pinocchio and I were injured in another fight. Maybe we need to start training the younger generation on how to fight. You could help me. I know no one may want them to fight. But that's not going to protect them if they're ambushed out there. Or if we get an attack here. If they can't fight they'd be easy to get captured or injured, or..."

He trailed off not even wanting to think it. He know only Holli had died in this war so far but one death in the army was bad enough.

"What if she's spent years thinking I abandoned her too?" asked Jim.

He was horrified at the thought. It was bad enough his fat- Mr. Hawkins had walked out on them but now Jim disappearing on her too.

"I just wish I could let her know I'm okay and I didn't leave by choice." whispered Jim.

He smiled.

"Maybe. I'm glad you won't hurt him though." said Jim.

He chuckled.

"I asked him out. He had just gotten dumped by Goggles. He'd helped bring her to this army and gave her a lantern ring. But the ring was destroyed and she rejoined the critic's army and is dating the other Spoony there now. I was there for him and were good friends. He said yes and I'm so grateful he wants me. Not because I'm the eldest son of the army leaders. But for me." replied Jim.
