Taking A Risk (Olive)

Gi winced at the pain as she walked around the house. It had been a few days since the joint attack. They'd gotten attacks in good but she'd been hurt badly too. At least nothing was broken. She felt like a failure though. She'd been in a handful of battles and most of them she'd gotten hurt. Her magic ring was no help most of the time as they rarely fought near water. So short of carrying water around with her she couldn't use it much. She thought of asking the sorcerers for a spell or potion to summon water she could manipulate but they always seemed busy with something. And there were others she was too nervous to approach as they looked too tough or serious or angry all the time.

And then there was another problem she was dealing with. Her feelings for Olive. She'd fallen for him awhile ago but hadn't said anything. He was one of her first real friends since joining the army and she didn't want to blow it. What if he didn't feel the same and things became awkward? She didn't want to lose her friendship with him but she did want more. Then the lastest battle had made her decision. She had to ask him and risk it. She had to try. Every other chance at happiness she'd pushed away like the teen from Atlantis and even Kwame. She'd had feelings for him but he saw her more of as a sister so she hadn't even told him her feelings. But now here was a guy who was available but she hoped he'd want to try. She sighed gathering the courage and heading to his door knocking on it hoping he was there.

"Olive? It's Gi. Are you free to talk?" asked Gi.

Olive was livid. His father told him of the attacks and that Gi was one of the injured. Like Gi, he had feelings that were somewhat unaddressed. Sure they flirted but it never grew truly serious. The young boy was punching a pillow and ranting to it "Stupid critic, stupid ask thatguy. Hate you all, hate you all! You'll pay for hurting her, I'll kill you!" Suddenly a knock was at his door and it turned out to be none other than Gi. Immediately he raced and pulled her in his room "Gi! I heard everything! You got hurt! Are you okay? Sit down!" He put her down on his bed and looked her over. Seeing no major injury, he gently hugged her, tears falling to fall.

"If something happened to you, I'd kill them. Hell, I'm still gonna kill them" Olive sniffed before turning to Gi with a soft smile "Sorry, sorry, you said you wanted to talk about something?"

Gi chuckled as Olive pulled her in.

"I'm ok." said Gi, hugging him back.

When he started to cry she felt bad and hugged him again.

"I'm sorry you were worried but I'd know I'd feel the same if you came back hurt." said Gi.

She paused as he reminded her why she came. She blushed and looked down.

"Olivewouldyoubemyboyfriend?" asked Gi in such a rush.

She then realized she'd said it fast and her blush grew.

"Oive would you be my boyfriend? I have had feelings for you for a while now but I tried to ignore them. I didn't want to ruin our friendship but then that battle a couple of days reminded me this is a war. There are no guarantees. I had to try. But if you don't feel the same then can we stay friends? I don't want to lose you completely." said Gi, trying not to cry.

"Hey don't be sorry, it's not your fault. It's...theirs" If olive wasn't convinced before to hate his enemies, he sure as hell was now. He turned to Gi who replied she'd feel the same before answering his question really fast. She blushed after speaking so fast but Olive didn't understand a word. Before he could ask though, she repeated and Olive blushed like a beet. He then listened to her confess she'd felt this way for a while and he felt so bad that he ignored it, being stupid for not noticing.

Suddenly she began to cry and Olive immediately put her face near his own and gave her a soft, tiny kiss. He replied "Hey, hey. I wanted to tell you something but I was scared too. I feel the same way, Gi. You're the most beautiful, kindest girl I know. I love our friendship but I want us to be more" He smiled softly and replied "This IS a war. We should definitely give this a chance before we lose it"

Gi nodded.

"I know. I just feel like a failure. My ring is practically useless without water. And without the other four rings I can't even summon Captain Planet. And I keep losing and getting hurt." said Gi.

She sighed and paused as Olive gave her a kiss surprising her. She blushed while grinning.

"You really feel this way? I'm not dreaming this right?" asked Gi.

She smiled as he said they should give this a chance. Acting impulsively she leaned forward and gave him a long kiss on the lips. Only eventually to pull back gasping for air while grinning.

"I wanted to do that for a long time." said Gi.

"You're not a failure, Gi. Don't say that about yourself!" Olive refused to believe Gi was any less than perfect. A bit naive but it was how the boy truly felt. He then smiled as his kiss worked for a bit, making her blush. He shook his head and replied "Nope. No dream. It's real. I'm being totally serious"

Suddenly without warning, he was pulled into a longer kiss. Olive embraced it until the need for air called them. Olive's face was blushing with delight and he laughed a little as Gi replied she wanted to do this for a while. Olive replied "Wow. That was incredible. You're incredible, Gi. Truly" He smiled and held her close "I'm glad it's all out now"

Gi smiled at Olive's faith in her.

"Thank you Olive. I know you'd always believe in me." said Gi.

Gi grinned.

"Thank you but I think you're incredible too." said Gi.

He held her close and she returned the hug.

"I can't believe I waited so long to admit my feelings. I feared one day you might fall for another girl here or worse. What if you got killed and never knew? I couldn't deny my feelings anymore." said Gi.

"I always will, Gi. Always" Olive promised solemnly. His faith in Gi would never be dead. He was Gi's best cheerleader. Their friendship was quite strong so it was only fitting for it to escalate the way it did. He then smiled and blushed just a tad before holding her tight as she admitted it wasn't very bright to be such in denial. But Olive wasn't exactly blameless either, so Olive replied "I should've been honest from the beginning too. It was wrong on both of us to keep our feelings. I'm glad it's over now and we know" He kissed her again, softly and meaningfully

Gi grinned at him.

"I'm glad to hear that. Just as I'll always have faith in you." said Gi.

Gi sighed.

"So much time wasted cause we both were too afraid to say something. Guess we have a lot of time to make up for." said Gi.

He kissed her again as she returned it wrapping her arms around him and enjoyed the moment.

Olive felt genuinely happier and relieved now that this came out in the open. And he felt better when Gi swore her faith in him. Olive held her close as she spoke. He couldn't help but chuckle in amusement and reply "Yeah, I guess we do" He continued to kiss her, relishing in how close they were. After a small while, he then blushed, laughing a little "So, um, what do we do now? Do you want to do something romantic?" He laughed a little "Man, I'm such a loser sometimes"

Gi grinned.

"Then we shouldn't waste another second." said Gi.

She enjoyed kissing them again. After they pulled away she chuckled

"Kissing's not romantic enough for you?" teased Gi.

She chuckled again and paused for a moment.

"How about we grab something from the kitchen? Probably too short notice for us to go on a date now. But we could at least grab some food." said Gi.

She shook her head.

"You're never a loser to me." said Gi.

She then paused for a moment remembering he had a family and looked nervous.

"You think Pete, Malachite and Facilier will approve? I don't want your family to hate me or be mad at me." said Gi.

Olive nodded, agreeing not to waste anymore time. He then blushed about Gi's teasing "No! No it's totally romantic, I mean... It's just.. I just.. You deserve something nice is all.. like.." Olive felt really dumb now. Being a boyfriend was new to him at this point. He was still young and at this point he didn't have a father to teach him until Malachite and Facilier to teach him the steps. He then nodded "Yeah going to the kitchen sounds good for now. I'll think of a way cooler date though you'll see. It'll be nicer than the kitchen" He wanted to give Gi something special. He had to think of something. Damn. This was harder than it looked.

"Are you serious? Hate you? How could anyone hate you? They'll love you!" Olive was trusting of his family. They accepted him so they would no doubt accept her. Besides, Gi had no reason to not be liked. She was loyal, a good fighter and she had all the right qualities in a girlfriend anyway. Olive had no qualms with his family approving of her. He hugged her close "Don't worry about them. They'll totally love you"

Gi chuckled as he blushed.

"Well thank you. But I'd be happy just hanging out with you. Could be here, at a park, a restaurant. I don't care as long as I'm with you." said Gi.

She grinned.

"I'm sure you will. Just maybe no double dates with your dads ok?" said Gi, with a grin.

Gi grinned as he hugged and calmed her down.

"I guess I'm just nervous. I've liked other guys before but most of the time it never really went past one date. But I really do like you. And I wouldn't make you choose between your family and me if they didn't. But I'm sure you're right." said Gi.

She grinned.

"Race you to the kitchen? 1.. 2..."

She then took off running.

Olive couldn't help but smile. He felt like, for the first time in a while, that he found a true companion. Someone who he felt was genuinely into him for him. He then nodded laughing a little about having double dates with his fathers "Oh no that's not gonna happen it's gonna be something epic I promise" He had to get on that. But how to do that without his parents involvement was going to be tricky. He then sympathetically nodded "It's okay. I get it. I really like you too and I'm sure my dads will totally love you. So it won't be a problem"

"Hey! Hey that's cheating!" Olive laughed as Gi got a headstart in running to the kitchen. He raced not long after her, running to the kitchen and hoping to catch her.

Gi smiled.

"Good. I mean if you'd feel more comfortable with a double date I wouldn't mind. Just maybe another couple." said Gi.

She'd be okay with either but she wouldn't mind being alone with Olive on a date somewhere.

Gi smiled.

"I hope so. Especially Pete. I mean I don't want him to think I'm trying to take his new brother from him. I have a feeling he didn't always a good life." said Gi.

Gi laughed as she kept running.

"I never said there were any rules for it." Gi shouted back.

She kept running to the kitchen. She made sure not to go too fast though not wanting to trip or run into anyone or anything.
