Quote: “I am Anga, the mighty warrior!”
Name: Anga
Age: 2 years (teen)
Where is this character from? Lion King [bg character]
Why did you pick him/her?: I played them on DWOW briefly and wanna play them some more
Picture:
(far right)
Personality:
As is your typical Outland resident, Anga can occasionally be a little abrasive. They’re prone to being catty and over-emotional. They often project a front of self-confidence, even outright egocentrism, but are softer and more vulnerable than one might assume, thus their defensiveness should their abilities be called into question. They tend to be vocal about their opinions, at least until a superior shoots their opinions down. Anga loves chances to prove their worth and will challenge others if they think they can take them in a scrap. They are, however, not stupid and will avoid anyone who obviously outmatches them. Anga wants to be noticed and eventually they hope to be a renowned warrior. They are reasonably skilled for their age, but there’s obviously quite a bit of learning still to go. Anga has problems in social situations, awkward and broody one half of the time, and an attention-seeking loudmouth the other half of the time. They are perhaps a bit too trusting that others have their best interests in mind. They can be childlike when they don’t understand things, such as when they’re shown genuine kindness.
History:
Anga was born into less than stellar living conditions. To cut to the chase, Anga was the runt and suffered from being picked on by two of their older brothers. When Anga became sick, the clan was convinced the cub would die and most simply turned the other cheek. But, Anga managed to pull through. The illness left them with a few lasting effects. Immediately noticeable was the damage to their throat, which caused them to speak in a rasping voice. But mentally is where the real damage was done: seeing how they were given little to no pity when they were sick, they bought into a “survival of the fittest” mantra. Their brothers didn’t help, constantly assuring them that they were inferior. Now, Anga is left with a cold disregard for those less fortunate than them, a higher capacity for killing and an overcompensation streak. There’s a tiny sliver of Anga that is compassionate and even generous, but it’s buried beneath a metric ton of Teen Angst™.
Vowing never to be the weak link, Anga grew to become a standout among the clan, even though they are still young. They are not big or particularly strong, but Anga’s running speed and endurance are nothing to be sneezed at. This skill has led them to become very valued as a member of hunting parties. Anga will run after a zebra for miles after everyone else has stopped, just to prove they can. When they run and look to the sky, they feel a thrill, as if they’re flying. This is something that makes them feel happy, although they believe it is a soft feeling and won’t easily admit to it.
Anga was still a child when Scar took the Pridelands. Because of this, they grew to have a skewed opinion of him, likening him almost to a god. They were chased away from the Pride Lands before they were old enough to really fight. Now an older teen, they have approached the warrior lifestyle with vigor. They are obedient and try to be helpful to the vast majority of their superiors. One may think this teen is a weak-minded lump of clay to be molded, but Anga has an introspective tendency that will prevent them from ever becoming a complacent grunt – for better or for worse.
Anga does not understand the new world they were thrown into, but quickly took to whatever side Scar was on, unable to see the lion for what he really is, still thinking of him as their king. Even so, they have problems attacking innocents. Poor kid.
Allies: Ask That Guy army, other hyenas (as far as they know)
Enemies: Critic’s Army, Facilier’s Army, prejudiced against prey animals
Plans: I wanna see this kid be molded into a badass warrior hyena, no matter the cost to their psyche :3
Also of note, Anga is gender-fluid. Anga most often accepts “they/them” pronouns. They will also accept “he/him” or “she/her” depending on what gender they identify as at the time.
