Why did you pick him/her?: Very much for fun, just wanted to see how he'd play out in all this.

Personality: Dylan at first appears as this cynical, hot-headed, arrogant, by-the-book kind of person but he has many hidden traits underneath that rough exterior. He's actually not cynical or arrogant or rule-abiding in the slightest. Dylan actually is quite open-minded and flexible. Dylan is humble and incredibly manipulative. He has the acting abilities of a chameleon. He tends to act rough either to protect himself or to participate in something better. He's a brilliant man, immensely intelligent and creative, going to great lengths to solve something. He's agile and mysterious, he also tends to be immensely complicated with his motives, whether it be for something personal or not. He does however have a obvious heart, he always tends to have a soft spot, especially for those who have a tendency to be opinionated or optimistic. He also is quite vengeful, it is very hard to get him to forgive you, especially if you break his trust. He has a deep love for the impossible, such as magic or the like. He's immensely loyal once you gain his trust and will protect those he cares about with his life. Despite the acting, one thing on the surface that is consistent with his true self is his temper, it's pretty bad.
History: Dylan Rhodes was born as Dylan Shrike, the son of a famous magician Lionel Shrike. After Thaddeus Bradley, a rival of his, declared Lionel a fraud, Lionel decided to prove him wrong in a stunt that would change Dylan's life forever. At only eleven years old, Dylan saw his father descend into a lake, trapped in a small safe, with only three minutes to get out. Lionel never came out and drowned in the safe. As if that wasn't enough of a punch, Tressler Insurance(the ones who had Lionel Shrike as a client) denied any of Dylan's mother's claims as a widow to benefit her son. Dylan swore vengeance on both of them ever since and has been stuck on this personal vendetta his whole life. He learned his father's trade becoming a part of a magic organization called The Eye, filled with many magicians with access to real magic. He learned much and was one of the best magicians in history but he never took the credit. Instead he disguised himself as Dylan Rhodes and became a FBI agent to get better on the inside of things. He then set his plans to motion. He called out for people who would become the four horsemen(Public followers of the eye) and found them in the people of Jack Wilder, J. Daniel Atlas, Merritt Mckinney and Henley Reeves. He saw potential in each of them and secretly carried them out to do his bidding, mostly vigilante activities such as stealing money to benefit others. Eventually the horsemen, with his hidden assistance, exposed Tressler for the corrupt, evil businessman that he was, constantly denying claims to take people's money.
To prevent suspicion, Dylan played the angry agent who was hellbent on hunting them down with the help of Thaddeus. The truth was he was their mole and was hell-bent on making sure his revenge played smoothly. It was successful and Tressler was discredited as well as Thaddeus being framed for stealing money. When confronted as the mole by Thaddeus and asked why, he only responded with that dylan wanted nothing more than to see Thaddeus behind bars. After revealing himself to his horsemen, he was pleased to see they all wished to stay. However a year later, Henley retired and he rehired a new horsemen. Also there was more hinjinks, both Thaddeus and Tressler came back for revenge. He was exposed as the son of Lionel and went into hiding to prevent arrest, since he was now known as the mole. Thaddeus bribed Dylan that exchange for his freedom he'd tell him where the horsemen were captured. Dylan accepted, desperate to protect his horsemen. Located in China, the man searched and eventually found the horsemen, working for Walter Mabry to save their own skins by stealing a powerful computer chip. Despite arguing with his more rebellious member J. Daniel Atlas, he managed to save them in time, even at the cost of his own freedom.
Confronted by Tressler, he was sentenced to be drowned in the same safe as his father but he escaped with the know-how of a key. He was just inches away from death still but was saved by Atlas. He, with his horsemen, exposed Tressler once again along with Mabry and got them both arrested. Dylan successfully escaped and went back to the Eye, where he realized Thaddeus never wanted to have revenge on Dylan the whole time. In fact he was friends with Lionel years ago, he was only playing the rival to help Lionel's credibility. Thaddeus declared him as his magician successor and despite the guilt, Dylan and him came to good terms. Now Dylan's curiousity got peaked as he entered deeper into the eye's headquarters. He got split from his team yet again and ended up here. In a new world with new possibilities. And new enemies.
