Why did you pick him/her?: Loved him as a kid, still love him now. He's amazing and is just a great character.

Personality: Master Splinter is wise, intelligent and a skilled martial arts teacher. He is nearly always calm but despite his usually calm demeanor is not above rage, he will not hesitate to use his rage and anger to protect himself or his sons, however, again, he does always become extremely calm and level-headed, always making sure to be the father figure for his sons or be a good/loyal friend for his allies/friends. He is the quintessential calm, all-knowing wise master of all martial arts also, knowing many things about ninjitsu and is immensely skilled with it. He's extremely intelligent, clever and witty. He is not one to mess with, he can be incredibly intimidating and he is, because he is so skilled and prepared.
He loves his adopted sons with fierce devotion, willing to give up everything and anything for them. Anyone who tries to harm them severely is nothing more than a threat in Splinter's eyes,and he will not hesitate to terminate them. He will do anything for their safety, and wants nothing more than his sons' happiness, comfort and tranquility. He loves them all equally and individually, always supporting them regardless of what they do and is always there for them, the same goes for all his loved ones, friends and allies. His loyalty and concern for all of them holds no bounds. His love and devotion also comes with his need to protect, because of this he is incredibly protective of himself and his boys. However, regardless of his love, he can be fairly militant to his sons, especially when they were very young and inexperienced. Splinter's main fear is that he and his family will one day be exposed to the outside world for what they are, and is understandably protective. He is not above disciplining the turtles whenever they become disobedient or unruly. Splinter isn't without his soft side. He has a normally tender and self sacrificing heart. Another characteristic is his dry but obvious sense of humor, cracking jokes while maintaining his serious demeanor, he is never above humor, always having one. He is also not above the modern world, knowing technology and whatnot, yet despite his intelligence and wisdom, he can have trouble because of his age.
History: Splinter was the pet rat of a ninja named Hamato Yoshi in Japan. Intelligent for his species, Splinter was able to learn his master's art by mimicking his movements while he practiced. When his owner moved to new york to protect the utroms, he was murdered by the shredder AKA Oroku Saki. Because of this he needed to leave and go to the streets where he eventually found his four adopted sons and because they were covered in ooze along with getting some on himself they all became mutant talking creatures. Many adventures Splinter had with his sons. One day on a seemingly normal situation, a terrible storm came to new york and attacked the entire city. Splinter was knocked out by the storm but awoke in chicago and through time eventually came to Critic's ranks, realizing the evil nature Ask Thatguy had. He befriended many of the critic's members and reunited with his second oldest, Donatello. However, disaster came as Michelangelo and Raphael joined ask thatguy, assuming he and donatello were brainwashed, and despite their pleas it took much time for the other two to join them. Raph and Mikey reunited with them, however mikey suffered much torture and suffering because of it and raphael suffered much guilt. Splinter also has become aware his eldest, leonardo, at the moment, has been brainwashed by malachite to serve him as a slave. Although very happy with his other three sons, Splinter wants leo back and will do anything for him. Not only for leo, but to also return himself and his boys home. As well as destroy this war once and for all.

Plans: To eventually be temporarily brainwashed to serve malachite for a bit before being released alongside Leo, the both snapping out of it and escaping so he, leo and the others can all be reunited finally and be a family once more.
