(February 22nd. Afternoon. Open to Scar, Zira, and Vitani.)
He'd had a great breakfast and shared his plans with Zira. And now they were thinking of going to be spies for Critic's army. But they still weren't sure when to go and who to disguise themselves as. He was in the back yard at the moment thankfully cloaked by magic so no one would freak out seeing a lion walking around the backyard.
He despited Mufasa and Simba but he'd started to grow found of Kovu and Vitani. And Nuka was a nuisance at times but he was still his son. Nuka was all grown up though. It was Kovu and Vitani he was worried about. With both of them gone, how could they survive out there in the Outlands and get their revenge? He was furious Simba had banished his family to the Outlands. He hadn't banished Sarabi or Sarafina or any of the other lionesses when he took over. He sighed lost in his thoughts as he didn't hear someone else join him.
Zira stepped out into the backyard, red eyes seeking out her mate. It was easy enough to find him – hard to miss the lion in the otherwise average plot of land – and she began walking towards him. When he didn’t respond to either her calling or moving closer, the lioness began to grow concerned. Such things weren’t like him, and she wondered if it had anything to do with what they had been discussing over breakfast earlier, either with their children or the infiltration they’d been planning. She suspected that it was the former, if nothing else than because the thought of them was still lingering in her own mind.
“Scar?” Zira repeated, padding closer and sitting beside him. Her voice had softened oh-so-slightly. “What’s on your mind?”
"Ah Zira. I've missed you. We don't seem to have much time to ourselves lately." said Scar.
He smiled as she walked over to him. He sighed.
"i just miss our children. It's been so long since you've been here and even longer for me. I know they have the other Outlanders and even Nuka but I'm even beginning to worry about him too. Can they really survive out there without one of us? They don't have a leader anymore with us both gone. What if they disband?" said Scar.
Vitani had been having quite the time trying to navigate the man-made place. The Outlands certainly weren't the best place to have a childhood, but if she had to make a choice, she would have chosen them over the difficult and admittedly frightening man-place. Applying what she knew already from home, the lion cub was keeping a low profile and sneaking around. She didn't know how average people would react to seeing a lion around. It was best to be sneaky when you're scoping out a new territory - especially if it appears it belongs to someone else. The rough little lady didn't know who would ever want to live in a such a place: it smelled bad and it was hard to see far with the square houses obscuring view. Vitani tried to keep a cool attitude about it. The scrappy lioness felt pretending like it was nothing would help her be more comfortable.
Needless to say that wasn't working. The instant she picked up on even the slightest hint of another lion, she instantly tracked the smell. Before long, she was able to recognize the individuals as those she knew. The first she recognized was Zira, but Scar was almost foreign to her. The cub followed the smell all the way to a particular house. Along with the familiar sent of lion, was a load of sents that confused and befuddled her entirely. This was the strangest of the strangest of human places. But in all her eagerness to met up with her mother, Vitani went on, skirting the side of the house from the front. The cub swiped at a fly that was sitting on the grass in front of her before her blue eyes found the pair of felines out on the grass. Her mother's form instantly registered but the male lion gave her a second's pause. Scar?
"Mother?" She murmured, beginning to lift one of her brows.
“Have you? It hasn’t been very long, you know.” Though her voice was teasing, Zira was secretly preening from the attention, pleased that her mate desired her presence.
Although she had been anticipating the answer somewhat, some of the lioness’s happiness faded when Scar told her just what was troubling him. This was the second time their children had been brought up today and the second time the subject had upset her. Adding to her distress was the idea that without them around, the cubs and makeshift pride might not survive.
“They don't have a leader anymore with us both gone. What if they disband?”
“They won’t.” Zira spoke with just a little more conviction than she truly felt. “They stood by me when I was banished to the Outlands; it will take more than –”
Without warning, a familiar scent reached her nose, causing her red eyes to widen in surprise. Her first thought was that it couldn’t be true, that she was imagining it because of what she had been thinking of that morning, and yet there could be no mistaking it. Zira took a step forward and looked around, spotting the source near the house.
“Vitani!”
Questions bouncing around in her mind, the lioness rushed to her daughter.
"Yes. But we haven't really been alone together since you first got here." said Scar.
He paused she said they would keep their children safe. He paused as she stopped as he could now smell it as well. He paused as he heard a familiar voice seeing it was Vitani. When Zira rushed forward he ran as well stopping to let the mother and daughter reunite first.
"Vitani. Are you alright?" asked Scar.
He hoped she was just arriving. And hadn't been here longer and they hadn't realized it. what kind of father would be to let his daughter wander around here unprotected. He waited for Vitani to speak next.
Vitani's tail lifted up as she bounded foreword a few paces before the adult lions cleared the distance between them. The cub couldn't help a small grin appear on her face. It would have been enough to just find another one of the Outlanders, but sight of her mother and father was a huge stroke of luck itself. She almost couldn't contain her happiness - almost. After her quick sprint, she seemed to calm down as she inched a bit closer to get another smell of her parents, to make sure they were really there. A smile was still present on her face.
"Yes. I'm fine. I wasn't here for too long, but I went a long way through this boxy place to find you - I figured out how to navigate all by myself!" Vitani boasted proudly.
That wasn't entirely true; before picking up on the lion scent, she had no clear way of knowing where she was going. But she was quite quick to try and covered up the fact that she was afraid to start. The grin on her face quickly vanished as her eyes flicked past Zira and Scar and back to her surroundings. Her ears pivoted back, showing her discontent. The lioness wasn't so much frightened as she was indignant.
"How'd we get here anyway?" She huffed pointedly, before fanning her ears out again, "Is this some kind of a test?"
Blue eyes shifted between Zira and Scar, hoping that one of them would provide an answer that made sense.
Once she had made sure that Vitani was indeed alright, Zira felt her blackened heart swell with pride at her daughter’s accomplishment. Such a thing was quite an achievement for a cub, even one as clever as Vitani.
“I would expect nothing less from you,” she replied, her voice as warm as she could make it. The red-eyed lioness nuzzled her cheek, listening to what else Vitani had to say. She couldn’t hold back a sigh at the questions.
“Unfortunately, no.” Zira pulled back a little to look at Vitani. “The humans here are at war with one another, and we were sent here to take part in it.”
Though why they would send for a cub, Zira didn’t know.
“Did you come here alone, Vitani? Are your brothers with you?”
"I'm glad to hear that. I don't want anything happening to you." said Scar.
If anyone had hurt her they'd regret it. He paused as she asked how they got her.
"Like Zira said. A human decided he wanted to rule the world so he made something that brought us here and others as well. So far it's just the three of us and two Pridelanders Sarafina and her grandaughter Kiara." said Scar.
He was unaware Kovu was in the Critic's army at this very moment. He paused as Zira asked him about her brothers.
"Yes. Did you see your brothers here when you arrived?" asked Scar.
If Kovu and Nuka were here he wanted to know about it. He wanted to make sure they were safe. Even if Nuka annoyed him a lot. He still cared about his children. Well Kovu wasn't really his son but he had adopted him and taken him in as his own. He had named Kovu as his successor but then Simba and his pack of lionesses had ruined everything.
