Maleficent frowned at Grimhilde’s mentions of scenarios that would ultimately fail, particularly the bit about a possible prisoner exchange. Again their failures were thrown in her face.

“If only,” she murmured absently. The dark fairy was certain that it would have been a nearly foolproof plan. It was rather obvious that Ask ThatGuy and Dark Nella cared for Pinocchio. As they were the leaders, their soldiers would likely go to great lengths to get the boy back, if anything just to gain favor with them.

“Yes, a simple attack would likely be better. Perhaps it would be prudent to send one of the animals to spy on their base and find an easier way inside.”

"Yes. We need to decide who goes where. For anyone going with you and Critic we need for them to have an alibi. Like say they've stayed behind to care for injured like Critic, Iheart, and the rest of them. Or building up some new weapons. Something they'd believe they'd be doing here instead of fighting." said Grimhilde.

She knew they'd all want to go but the smaller the group this time the better. They'd chosen a very large group and this time the large group had to be out on the battlefield to make it look good.

"Perhaps you should have the group down to like 5 or 6. The more people out on the battlefield the more likely they'll believe no one's going to try another rescue." said Grimhilde.

“Saying that we’re still caring for the injured would most likely be the best option. Although you would also have to add that I myself was injured – I doubt that they’ll believe I stayed behind otherwise.”

Maleficent was certain that Ask ThatGuy and Dark Nella would know of her hungering for revenge. Even if they didn’t, she was (in her not so humble opinion) one of the most powerful fighters in this army.

The fairy nodded at Grimhilde’s words.

“Now all that’s left is to figure out who to bring on this mission. Myself and Critic, obviously. Perhaps Linkara as well.”

"Linkara sounds like a good choice. As for the rest I'd say Splinter for sure. If you run into one of the turtles he'd be able to talk some sense into them. But the other two I guess you could bring one of the new recruits we got a couple days ago. I don't think all of them have been seen yet." said Grimhilde.

Maleficent raised a slender, black eyebrow at Grimhilde’s suggestion. Having left the failed rescue mission early, the dark fairy had still yet to see the anthropomorphic rat’s skill in battle.

“New recruits?” Her eyebrow arched higher at the queen’s newest proposal. “You think it would be wise to send untrained new recruits into a dangerous rescue mission? What if something were to go wrong?”

"Maybe you're right. We don't want a repeat of last time. New recruits wouldn't have been seen is what I thought so they wouldn't be missed at the battlefield if you took a couple with you. I guess it is better to take experienced fighters then." said Queen Grimhilde.

She paused remembering the last attempt.

"We need tools they can use to break the locks just in case. If it's an electronic lock like before it might set off an alarm. So if you destroy the doors you better move quickly before the entire army returns to stop you." said Grimhilde.

“Your point is valid enough, but as I was saying, we can’t risk the possibility that they’ll mess something up. Even more experienced fighters are capable of making errors.”

Besides, considering that their last rescue attempt had been made up of nothing but (somewhat) experienced fighters, Maleficent was certain that new recruits wouldn’t be able to help without some training.

“I didn’t need tools to get inside last time,” Maleficent reminded Grimhilde. On the mission, the dark fairy had transformed herself into a will-o’-the-wisp and gotten in through an open upstairs window. “Perhaps I can get in myself and unlock the door from the inside, though that would require an unlocked window. The tools could be a secondary plan.”

Grimhilde looked at her puzzled before shaking her head.

"My apologies. I meant the cell doors. They're probably electronic. If you tried to blast them with magic or the others tried breaking them down with weapons it might set off an alarm. The tools would be a way to get them out quietly. I believe you're right. You can sneak in and let the others in. But getting them out of those cages will be difficult especially if any of the villains are nearby. Mechakara destroyed the door last time making a rescue impossible." said Grimhilde.

“Oh.”

Maleficent frowned, more than a little embarrassed by her mix-up. Hoping to get Grimhilde’s mind off of it, the dark fairy cleared her throat and began to speak once more.

“Yes, well, slipping through the cell doors would be simple in my will-o’-the-wisp form. From there, it would simply be a matter of figuring out how to pick the lock.”

She suddenly looked thoughtful.

“Perhaps we could steal the keys.”

"No that was my fault. I was thinking about it and finished my thought out loud." said Grimhilde.

She paused as Maleficent mentioned her transforming into a will of the wisp.

"That would work. Can you bring someone with you in that form? Even temporarily? It might be faster than trying to get the door open." said Queen Grimhilde.

She paused as Maleficent mentioned stealing the keys.

"Stealing the keys would work. But in this modern era the keys could be updated and maybe don't even look like keys anymore. Linkara and the others will probably know for sure how to open it if it doesn't use regular keys." said Grimhilde.

Maleficent shook her head.

“Unfortunately, no. The magic can only be applied to a single person – the spell’s caster.”

The spell’s limitation had created a small problem back when she was still in her kingdom. While she was able to get herself places fairly easily, Diablo was still forced to fly everywhere and had sometimes had to struggle to keep up with her.

“I suppose so,” the dark fairy admitted reluctantly. She hadn’t actually seen the cells for herself, and so she had no way of knowing without asking someone who had. “We’ll have to take that into account.”

(OOC: You want to end the thread here? No offense, but given that the hostages have already been rescued, there isn’t much of a point anymore.)

Queen Grimhilde sighed.

"Then I guess we'll need the keys then. Although if you're discovered then I suppose it wouldn't matter if you blasted down the door. I just hope it works. The last time we lost a member. We don't need to lose anyone else." said Grimhilde.

She smiled turning to Maleficent.

"Well how about we go hurry up that rescue plan. They've bound to come up with something good by now." said Grimhilde.
