Where is this character from? The Hunchback of Notre Dame 1 & 2
Why did you pick him/her?: more hunchback characters; and she's one of my favorites.

History:
Esmeralda grew up in Paris with the Romani people. Her closest friends were Clopin their leader and Djali her pet goat. She trained how to be a dancer and entertained crowds often for money. They didn't have much so whatever they earned they shared with each other including money they owned. Esmeralda's clothes were made by other Romani in the tribe.
One day she is performing for money with Djali. They are interrupted by guards but Phoebus intervenes. Esmeralda and Djali leave not trusting Phoebus but manage to keep their money for their troubles. A few days later at the Fest of Fools, she performs a few times dancing. She meets Quasimodo there and like everyone else assumes it's a mask at first. When it's discovered he's the bell ringer of Notre Dame and people begin throwing tomatoes at him Esmeralda frees him saying this was justice. Frollo orders her to be arrested but she disappears in a cloud of smoke. She runs through the town humiliating Frollo and his soldiers in the process in her attempts to get away.
She then hides in the church. Phoebues finds her first and she fights against him with a candlestick. He introduces him to her and she lets down her guard until Frollo and his guards show up as she thinks it was a set up. But he tries to get her to claim sanctuary and before she can say otherwise Phoebus says she did. She still doesn't trust him but is disgusted that Frollo is attracted to her. He denies it when he leaves reluctantly. But tells her this is her prison since the moment she leaves he'd arrest her. The Arch Deacon throws out Frollo, Phoebeus and the guards.
Esmeralda then sings in the church. She's still unsure if God exists but asks him to watch out for the people less fortunate than herself as others sing about themselves. When Quasimodo is spotted there he runs off to hide but Esmeralda follows him and they become friends. She learns of his hobby of making dolls and he agrees to let her free. And at night he gets her down and she asks him to come with her. Quasimodo feels he wouldn't be welcome there and Esmeralda gives him a map to their hideout if he changes his mind.
She later witnesses Phoebe rescue a family from being killed when Frollo burns houses down in his quest to get Esmeralda. Phoebus is arrested but Esmeralda shoots a rock with a slingshot at Frollo creating a distraction. Phoebus uses it to escape but he's shot by an arrow and falls into the river and is presumed dead. Esmeralda is later reunited with Phoebus and Quasimodo as they arrive at the Court of Miracles. The gyspies tried to kill them thinking they were Frollo's spies until Esmeralda vouched for them.
Phoebus and Quasimodo are freed and warn them Frollo knows where they are. Unfortunately he lied and had followed the pair to get Esmeralda. And arrests everyone. Quasimodo is chained up on top of the church while everyone else is arrested.
Esmeralda is tied to a stake and Frollo tells her to be mine. She refuses and Frollo sets the wood on fire. She passes out and is rescued by Quasimodo several times. Frollo is killed in his attempts falling into lava and Esmeralda wakes up to be reunited with Phoebus as they kiss. They introduce Quasimodo to the people who this time welcome him as a member of the town.
Several years later Esmeralda is married to Phoebeus and has a son named Zephyr. A circus has come to town and when robberies happen Phoebus is quick to blame them. This angers Esmeralda thinking he's acting irrationally and that they're just like her people, the Romani. She then learns Madeline, Quasimodo's new girlfriend was a spy sent by Sarouch to help steal La Fidele. And wMen Madellaine pleads for them to help her rescue the bell and stop Saroush Esmeralda pleads as well. That they trusted her once and they should give Madellaine the same chance. She's brought along in chains but they soon learn Sarousch has Zephyr. Esmeralda and Phoebus watch in horror as Sarouch nearly gets away with their son and La Fidele. But Madelainne and Quasimodo rescue Zephry and Phoebus gets Sarosuch and his men arrested. As Esmeralda and Phoebeus reunite with Zephyr. Later she proclaims to everyone she loves Phoebus at the next festival.
One day Quasimodo, Madellaine and Zephyr disappeared. And then Phoebus and herself disappeared. She woke up in a strange world reuniting with her family and friends in the Defiant Army. Upon learning of the army she agreed to join fighting against the
injustice should one oef the villain armies win and make this world their slaves.
