Unleash The Beast

"Make these bastards pay! ATTACK!"

Facilier's voice rung though the ears of the facilier army. They were in a battle against Ask Thatguy's forces. For some time now, Critic's forces had taken a slight back seat from either villian army to handle the effects of some of their members leaving to make their own army still. Gohan though was primarily focused on surviving today. He was not going to make mistakes like he did with the future version of the androids. Speaking of which, it was very odd, but surprisingly comforting, to have 17 be his friend as opposed to an enemy. 17, despite himself, was atoneful for his future self and had been peaceful. Gohan still had some doubts, but he was getting more comfortable with the android. It also helped 16 was friendly and peaceful.

What was really comforting though was his former teacher and closest friend beside him. Gohan and Piccolo joint together as partners for some soldiers and if it wasn't for the fact their lives were at risk, Gohan would believe he was having fun. It was also a comfort to fight alongside Piccolo, the adult man always had looked up to the namekian back when he was young. That idolization had not changed, if anything it only increased. Gohan smiled to Piccolo, smirking "Just like old times huh, piccolo?"

"Definitely. Kind of enjoying myself if it weren't for... WATCH YOUR BACK" Piccolo replied, shoving Gohan a bit as a blast came through. This blast however caused him to be separated from Piccolo, tons of soldiers fighting back and forth. Piccolo was confronted by Dark Nella, and the two went back and forth.

"Piccolo! Hang on!" Gohan replied, but then he got kicked square on the back and Gohan turned slowly to realize who attacked. It was none other than a person Gohan had known back from his father's stories and the main reason responsible for the androids. He sneered "Dr. Gero"

"Ah. Gohan. How wonderful to see you remember me" Dr. Gero smiled, a hint of sadism in his smile "This is our first meeting, I'm quite pleased. I am even more pleased this will also be our last" Dr. Gero aimed to fire but Gohan quickly dodged, shoving the man back.

"You forget I'm not a kid anymore, as you can clearly see. I'm not afraid of you anymore" Gohan replied

"Oh believe me my friend, you will be" Dr. Gero smiled. The two went back and forth, constantly fighting and blasting on another. Unfortunately, gohan came down thanks to tripping by accident. Dr. Gero's blast went through him, damaging some of his clothes. Dr. Gero chuckled as Gohan struggled to stand, using his only arm for support. Gero's hand went straight to his face, replying calmly "It's really a shame your father could not be here to see this"

Gohan gave a angry, but peaceful, look as if to challenge Gero. Gero chuckled, proceeding to warm up his hand blaster. Suddenly a loud bear roar was heard, instantly a bear grabbed the robot and chewed on it's hat before throwing him off and away from Gohan. Dr. Gero was then instantly a long distance away. The bear beat the android mercilessly before Gero seemed knocked out. With a satisfied nod, the bear went over to Gohan. Gohan's eyes widened as he realized who it was

"C-Calvin? Is that really you?" Gohan replied

"You bet your bottom dollar!" Calvin laughed, immediately resuming his normal state. He gave a middle finger to Dr. Gero "Glad your momma didn't see me beat your ass" He laughed again, offering his hand to Gohan. Gohan couldn't help but laugh. Calvin was a very, very good friend of his at this point and the man could never be too annoyed by Calvin's light-hearted personality. If anything, it was a breath of fresh air. It was one of the reasons they were friends in the first place.

"Nice work calvin. But keep close. Dr. Gero isn't down yet" Gohan replied, he then moved a bit "Get behind me just in case"

"Ah, gohan you're worrying way too much. The old geezer can't take you down" Calvin replied. He then morphed into a gorilla, pounding his chest "Besides, I can take him down myself"

Dr. Gero immediately rose up, angrily looking around, demanding "Where is that bear? Where the hell did it go?"

"Oh you mean me. Yeah I morph into animals" Calvin arrogantly replied "Hi I'm calvin. I'm gonna kick you in the balls now"

"What... how dare you?" Dr. Gero replied but he was shocked as Calvin immediately grabbed him, kicking Dr. Gero in the balls as promised. Gohan was trying his absolute hardest not to laugh, if anything he wanted to be mad at Calvin for being so careless. But Dr. Gero being tossed around by a gorilla was too fun to ignore. It satisfied the pettier part of Gohan's personality. Calvin and Dr. Gero kept fighting, with Calvin eventually pinning him down and knocking him out again. Calvin morphed then into a human once more. It looked like calvin had the upper hand. But gohan was still unsure, something told him Dr. Gero wasn't doing this on purpose. He was off guard by Calvin but once he wasn't, Calvin was in danger.

"Get wrecked you piece of shit" Gohan heard Calvin say. The light-hearted man had a rage sometimes even Gohan forgot about. He kicked the man harshly "That one was for 17" He kicked the man again "That's for trying to kill Gohan. Don't you dare think I'll let you pick on him"

Gohan went over, pulling Calvin back, replying calmly now "Calvin, stop it. You made your point. Stay away from him. He's dangerous, I'm serious"

"I'm not done with this pushover" Calvin's face was annoyed, angry even. He kicked Gero again, harshly.

"Calvin! Seriously! Please, do it for me" Gohan looked back at Calvin with desperate eyes

Calvin widened his eyes, realizing that Gohan was genuinely concerned. That this wasn't a typical worry-wart situation, this was something Gohan took personally. Calvin adored Gohan and would do anything for the man. Unbeknowest to Gohan, Calvin was in love with him. He tried to cover it up for gohan's sake. But seeing Gohan look at him like that resurfaced some of these emotions. With a somewhat calmer look, Calvin nodded "Okay. I'll back off. But let me at least back you up"

Gohan nodded, then he saw Dr. Gero start to laugh. The elderly android then turned to Calvin, smirking "Thank you very much calvin. Thanks to you, you have just become a volunteer for my upgrades"

"Upgrades?" Gohan confusedly commented

"Bring it on, jerk" Calvin smirked, cockily "I ain't scared of you"

"Oh believe me my friend. You will be" Dr. Gero then got upgrades which caused his chest to expand as if buffer. His eyes glowed bright purple. His hair morphed slightly into somewhat shorter hair, but it was still glowing grey. Dr. Gero went immensely fast, kicking Gohan away. Calvin then was slammed down hard on the ground, causing the man to struggle. Gohan panicked as Gero aimed to shoot, the saiyan grabbed Gero and threw him across causing a back and forth between them once more. Gero smirked to Gohan "So much more passion for when that boy is involved, I must wonder. Gohan, do you really think that boy is worth your life?"

"He's my friend, of course he is. Even if he wasn't my friend, he's a life. And life always matters to me" Gohan snapped, kicking Gero in the chest. The two kept fighting. Unbeknownst to them, Calvin was slithering around like a snake. A poisonous python to be precise. The two kept fighting while Calvin was in the crossfire. Calvin eventually used his body to trip Gero, then slither away to hide.

"Why that little pest.." Dr. Gero aimed to shoot but was disarmed manually by Gohan wrestling him down. Dr. Gero and him proceeded to roll around before Gero kicked Gohan hard. The two kept punching, kicking and blasting back and forth. Until finally Gero aimed his finger to shoot at Gohan's leg.

"No! Gohan!" Calvin morphed back as a human but was stopped as Gero made a barrier

"You stay out of this or you're next" Gero threatened. He then kept shooting Gohan's legs and arm, causing Gohan to cry out in pain. Gero laughed a bit "Your father put up a much harder fight, and he was not fighting me half the time" He shot gohan some more. While that was going on Calvin flew as a eagle, then morphed as a human to hide behind bushes, waiting for a chance to strike. Gero continued to vent "I dare even say Piccolo was more of a fun fight, he at least challenged me"

Gohan tried his best to get up, but felt some pain. Gero's sadistic behavior caused him to be unable to get a second wind just yet. He had to find a way soon, or he was good as dead. Gohan sneered "You won't be so cocky, once I take you down"

"Oh I'm shaking in my boots. Pathetic. I'm shocked you can say that with a straight face" Gero snapped. He then got his hand out again. He smirked "Time for you to die, Son Gohan"

Calvin suddenly burst in, grabbing the elderly man, punching him hard. Calvin morphed into a lion, wrestling Gero down successfully. Calvin then morphed back into a human again, the two then did some martial arts back and forth. Calvin snapped "I won't let you kill him. I won't!"

"It's not up to you" Gero snapped. The two wrestled, Gohan then got up and assisted his ally. This lead to a three way fight.

In a split second, Calvin gave Gohan a senzu bean, distracting Gero by slamming the android's face against the concrete while Gohan ate the bean. With better energy, Calvin smiled as Gohan went super saiyan one but both were horrified when a punch did very little damage to Gero. Gero smiled "Oh my upgrades are a success. The super saiyan form is nothing for this. Only a higher form can do it. Unfortunately Piccolo seems busy, and my failures of androids are distracted. So there is little room for either of you" Gero then shocked Gohan hard back into his base form once more. The base form was one he was keeping as he felt super saiyan would be his trump card. Unfortunately his trump card now felt like a shameful reminder that he should've used it before the upgrades were in place.

"I should've killed you before we had this fight" Gohan replied "My own arrogance let me to this. But I will fix that" Gohan morphed into super saiyan one "I don't care if this doesn't work on you now. It will eventually!" Gohan punched Gero insistently, glad some damage was there but not by much.

Gero then surprised him by pinning him down, slamming his face hard, enough to draw blood from his nose and use some technology to hold him in place. "Finally. Let's put a end to this" Gero growled. Gero was about to kill Gohan finally, as Gohan struggled in the electric bonds set on him as the man was tied to a boulder. But Gero sneered as Calvin threw a really big rock as a gorilla form.

"Leave him alone, I said!" Calvin cried out

"My goodness, Calvin, you are really a pest" Gero snapped. He then turned to Gohan "You will watch this. A show of what happens when you defy me" He then sped up to Calvin, forcing the gorilla down and punching him square on the chest. The punch was so painful, Calvin had no choice but to submit in his human form. Gero replied, demandingly "Do you surrender, Calvin?"

"Never. I won't let you hurt Gohan. I'd rather die" Calvin replied

Gero laughed then, looking to Gohan who was desperate to get out of his bonds. He turned to Calvin, a pleased smile on his face "I'm happy to oblige" Gero then punched Calvin hard in the face. Gero then threw him across gohan, deliberately to show the saiyan what he was about to do. He picked Calvin up and consistently kept hitting calvin.

"Stop! Stop it! Do whatever you want to me, just don't hurt him!" Gohan begged "Please, stop it!"

"G-Gohan, go, leave me!" Calvin wheezed in pain. Calvin attempted to morph into a animal but Gero electrocuted the young man. Calvin screamed but he stood his ground, staying awake just to spit in Gero's face. Calvin replied "Y-You won't get me to surrender"

"A pity. You'll have to die then I'm afraid" Gero replied

"No! Don't! Gero, please!" Gohan begged, forcing himself out of some bonds "Calvin, hold on!"

"You're just a weak old man" Calvin taunted. He had a angry smile, he was trying to get Gero distracted by him. Mostly to avoid Dr. Gero from getting to gohan. If this meant all this suffering, it was worth it. It was better him than Gohan. Calvin deliberately tried to get under Gero's skin to keep him busy, to keep him away and to keep gohan safe. He was giving himself up for the sake of his close friend. Calvin taunted more "You don't scare me. Gohan is twice the man you'll ever be. You're just a scared old fool who couldn't handle why everyone else was stronger"

"You insolent little brat" Gero snapped. The scientist threw the man up and down, beating him mercilessly with his fists. He snapped angrily "If you will not stop talking, I'll beat you into silence!" Gero then did exactly that. Beating him often and hard, deliberately trying to cause torment in Calvin. Eventually, Gero smirked, breaking Calvin's right arm and quite a few ribs. Gero turned to Gohan, who was watching in absolute horror. Gero laughed "I hope you're seeing this, Gohan. This is what happens to all of my enemies"

"Stop! STOP! You'll kill him!" Gohan begged, tears in his eyes as he tried so hard to get out of the bonds. Gohan screamed "DON'T HURT HIM!"

Gero ignored this, turning to Calvin who barely was able to stand. Gero laughed "You are one stubborn boy. Why must you persist when you know you will die?"

"Because I'd rather die than let you hurt Gohan. He's my best friend" Calvin turned with a small, soft smile to Gohan. Who went super saiyan form to get out of the bonds but it was relatively fruitless. Calvin turned to Gero, opening his unbroken arm wide with a cocky smile "I'm still standing. What are you going to do?"

"I've been asking myself that same question. I admire your courage, but you must die. Prepare yourself, Calvin. You shall be sent to hell" Gero then aimed his hand. Gohan in the background was screaming, begging and demanding Gero to stop and not hurt calvin. One of his closest friends, a person he had strong feelings for was about to die, Gohan couldn't allow it. He wouldn't allow it. He got out of some bonds finally, he only had two more left. Gero turned to Calvin, aiming with his finger to shoot right at Calvin's chest.

Calvin gasped as he felt a unholy pain. He had a weird feeling something important was shot. He coughed up blood, realizing it was either a lung or his heart. Either way, Calvin felt way weaker as he felt the room spin. He felt his hearing become dim and his gaze hazy as he saw Gohan go super saiyan one once more and threw Gero away to many feet. Gohan's face was beside his finally and Gohan flew away to a nearby tree. Calvin coughed some more, turning to Gohan with a sad, but loving smile. Calvin replied "H-hey, gohan, I guess I couldn't handle it"

"Don't talk. Save your strength. I'm getting you out of here" Gohan replied

"He-Hey it's okay. We're gonna be fine" Calvin smiled a little "At least you're okay"

Gohan's eyes widened before they slowly filled with tears "Ca-Calvin. I.. I won't let you die" He turned to see Nerd and screamed "NERD! NERD HELP!" Nerd gasped as he saw the two and raced

"Oh my god, Calvin! Hang on dude! I'll get piccolo! He'll know what to do!" Nerd replied, racing to find piccolo immediately

"God please hurry" Gohan muttered aloud

"It's okay. Don't panic. Everything is going to be fine" Calvin assured, coughing a little and groaning but overall relaxed.

"I'm not going to let you die" Gohan replied, sincerely and determinedly

"Don't worry. I know you won't" Calvin smiled "But if I do it's worth it. I would die for you"

"Why? Why on earth would you..." Gohan then was surprised as Calvin held his cheek, Gohan's eyes widened more as he felt Calvin's blood on his face.

"I love you" Calvin confessed "Loved you from the start. You don't have to say it back. But I need to say it now, in case I don't make it" Calvin groaned in pain, feeling his head swim. Calvin shuddered a little "I'm cold"

Gohan's tears increased, the man used his arm to hold the other closely. He held him like a small child, desperate to keep him warm and alert. Gohan begged "Calvin, don't leave me. Stay. Just a little longer"

"I.. gohan, don't cry. It's gonna be fine" Calvin said, before finally succumbing to his injuries.

Unbeknownest to Gohan, he was still alive but barely. Gohan though feared the absolute worst as Calvin did not appear to be breathing in any capacity. Gohan feared the absolute worst. The one thing he did not want. Calvin, the one person he loved, was dead. Gohan's tears streamed as he screamed "NO! CALVIN!" He begged "Don't leave me! Don't go! Please! PLEASE STAY WITH ME!" He weeped loudly, holding the man close. Gohan looked to the sweet face of calvin. When he saw the man's face, his heart snapped into a million pieces. He kept wailing, crying, repeating Calvin's name in vain.

Eventually Gohan's crying turned into hiccups of desperation. Gohan looked to Calvin's face, before finally kissing his forehead and face in mourning. Gohan whispered harshly "I'm so sorry, Calvin. I failed you"

Dr. Gero then came into view as Gohan looked to see if anyone was coming. His sadness, the mere second Dr. Gero's face came into view, turned into the most unholy rage he had felt since the first time he went super saiyan. Remember. You have the power inside, gohan. Use it Piccolo's trustworthy advice came through to him. Playing repeatedly in his mind

But another, darker, more evil thought also went through his mind. I'm going to kill him. Kill him. KILL HIM Gohan's sad face turned into a dark, murderous angry stare. Gohan's teeth were like daggers. He turned to see Nerd and Piccolo come, he gave Calvin's body to them. Gohan replied, firmly "Take calvin. Go. Now. I have business to take care of. Don't argue. Let me handle it" With that Gohan went to Gero.

Piccolo and Nerd looked to each other. Nerd turned to Calvin, checking his pulse, replying "Oh thank god Calvin's still alive"

"I don't think Gohan knows that" Piccolo replied, a hint of understanding in his voice. Nerd gasped, about to go, but Piccolo with a free hand replied "We'll tell him later. Right now, we need to retreat. Calvin needs medical attention. He's barely clinging to life" Nerd nodded, taking Calvin from Piccolo and racing to Facilier to get help. Piccolo shouted "Gohan! Give him hell!" Piccolo cried out, racing after nerd and the rest of the team.

Gohan barely acknowledged Piccolo, looking directly at Gero. Gohan growled out, as Gero smirked "Wipe that damn smile off your face or I'll rip it out myself"

"My goodness. Such anger. That boy must've meant something to you" Gero's smile did not fade, if anything, it widened

"I told you to not hurt him. I warned you to stop. You killed him" Gohan's eyes got darker and darker, they glowed bright blue but not the typical super saiyan blue. It was a different super saiyan blue, deeper than the first form. It faded to his regular eye color to that deep blue back and forth. Gohan snapped loudly "You killed him. You beat him, you treated him like garbage. He was innocent. He was a good person. He was my friend" Gohan then burst into energy, his eyes and body going back and forth from his base to something much more powerful. His body looked much more muscular slowly, but surely, his black hair turning blond.

With a loud, unapologetic, and with no resistance, he shouted "I LOVED HIM!" Gero and the remaining warriors of Ask Thatguy and facilier all saw the display Gohan showed. Malachite was seen and heard expressing interest and shock. As Gohan screamed bloody murder, his form turned into a form he never achieved before. Super Saiyan Two. Gero widened his eyes at the display, even frowning in slight shock. Gohan eventually got comfortable with this form, the man then turned to Gero, bluntly stating "I'm going to make you pay. I won't rest until Calvin gets the justice he deserves!"

With that Gohan slammed into Gero, hard. Gero had a very hard time keeping up with this form. Gohan beat him mercilessly, blasting him many, many times. Gohan shouted aloud "KAMEHAMEHA!" Gero thankfully did dodge that one but Gohan noticed and instantly went right to him. Gohan grabbed Gero's arm and replied "This is for breaking his arm!" He threw Gero down and forced his foot onto Gero's arm, breaking it.

"This was for the broken ribs!" Gohan snapped, this caused him to deliberately use both feet onto Gero's chest. Gero used some remaining strength to get up. Gero had nothing to add or say, too desperate to fight back to make a comment. Gero did have fear though, as it was clear Gohan was finally out for his blood. Gohan cried out "This is for mercilessly shooting him!" Gohan then blasted a relatively easy blast to gero's leg causing him to stumble and be disabled.

"THIS IS FOR KILLING HIM!" Gohan replied aiming to use a final blow. Only to be blasted away by Dark Nella. While she did that, Gohan saw Mechakara and DarkHeart rescue him. Gohan shouted "NO! I won't let you live!" But he screamed in frustration as Nella chanted a escape spell, causing Gero to never be seen again. Gohan morphed back into base form, pounding the ground "YOU BASTARD" He kept pounding it until he felt malachite hold his shoulder

"Gohan, it's over. We need to go" Malachite's announcement caused Gohan to submit in grief. Malachite helped him up and the two went back with their bases, running away from people who were fighting them. Malachite eventually transported gohan home and replied "You turned a new form. That wasn't super saiyan. That was super saiyan two" Malachite smiled a little as gohan showed slight confusion "It's a form higher than super saiyan. Stronger too. Forms like that can only be achieved through rage. Olive watches dragon ball z, that's how I know"

"Who cares what it is?" Gohan numbly replied "Calvin's dead. I don't give a damn about new forms. I want him back"

"Dead? He ain't dead?" Facilier replied, coming from outside of the house "He's not dead. You saved that kid's life" Facilier looked to see gohan absolutely stunned. Facilier cocked his head "He's not awake now. But you can see for yourself if he's..." Facilier chuckled as Gohan rushed downstairs.

Gohan rushed down, seeing Piccolo and Nerd watch like hawks before seeing Gohan. Piccolo turned to Gohan, softly looking at him "Gohan. Good news. The shot aimed for his chest only got a small part of his lung. He's going to be fine"

"W-Wait. He's alive?" Gohan replied

"Yep. And kicking. He should be waking up shortly" Nerd replied with a smile

"Good. He'll be pleased to know that Gohan here went to a whole new form thanks to him" Malachite replied, checking his vitals "Calvin is definitely going to be out of fights for a while" Malachite turned to Piccolo who's eyes were wide "Oh yeah that's right. Gohan went super saiyan two"

Piccolo's eyes slowly morphed into pride, turning to gohan and ruffling his head "I wouldn't expect any less from you"

Gohan smiled barely before looking to Calvin. He turned to the three, replying "I'm really glad calvin's alive. And I'm glad we're all okay. But can I have a moment alone? With him?" He turned to all three and smiled as all three nodded. With malachite even making a do-not-disturb sign. Malachite left instantly.

Nerd went over to Gohan, giving him a tender hug before whispering "I'm really proud to be your friend" He then left. Piccolo then nodded to Gohan, giving a affectionate pat on the shoulder before going upstairs also. Gohan then sat to see Calvin sleeping softly.

"Calvin. I don't know if you can hear me but what happened today shouldn't of happened" Gohan's eyes teared up once more. His voice got emotional as he replied "You said you loved me. I should've said this earlier, way earlier, but I'm going to tell you now" He kissed calvin's head, replying softly "I love you too. I have been in love with you, but I was so scared. So scared of this happening. It happened anyway and it made me realize I should've said it anyway. I'm sorry. I'm so stupid, and weak, and spineless"

"N-no" Calvin's weak voice scared Gohan a bit. But the man smiled wide as Calvin awoke, the young man turned to Gohan with soft eyes "You are not stupid or weak. You're the strongest ever" Gohan then got excited and pulled Calvin for a hug. Only to be horrified when he hurt calvin accidentally, causing calvin to shriek. Calvin replied "I-I'm glad to see you too, but easy, my ribs"

"Oh god calvin I'm sorry! I got excited!" Gohan replied

"I know. It's okay" Calvin smiled. He then turned to Gohan, holding the man's hand, replying nervously "You really love me too?"

"Yes. And I should've told you sooner. But I'll make up for it now, if you'll let me" Gohan replied. The saiyan then held Calvin's hand, replying softly "I won't let this happen again"

"Gohan..." Calvin hesitated realizing gohan was too worried about his injuries to listen to logic. He decided to focus on the fact his love loved him back and the fact they could be together. He smiled before sighing in relief "I'm really glad you're okay"

"Me too with you. Well as okay as you can be" Gohan replied softly "The senzu bean you gave me was our last one for a while. Might take weeks for piccolo to make them"

"Ah what the hell I can handle laying in bed. So long as I can get breakfast in bed. Maybe kiss the cook?" Calvin winked to Gohan, smiling bright

"I'm being serious, calvin" Gohan rolled his eyes "You could've been killed"

"I know but I'm not. What's important is that we care about each other, we're ok and we can be prepared for next time. Now how about a kiss for my boo-boo" Calvin pointed to his lips, making a pouty face

"You dummy" Gohan smiled softly "I can't stay mad at you" Gohan then pulled the man in for a kiss, the two felt a shock and joy when they did. This was their first kiss and it was a kiss that mattered to both of them. As they kissed they realized that things would be fine. Things were changing constantly, but as long as they were together they would get stronger and better than ever. And things would turn out just fine.

loved it. that'll be great. although the real fight may e a little longer and Future Gohan might snap more than i realized. xD

after all when he became super saiyan 2 during the cell games he toyed with cell and it was like he became a pure saiyan in that moment losing himself in his rage and having fun. and that nearly got the planet blown up. if goku hadn't sacrificed himself. Gohan lost himself in his ultimate form in the buu saga too. power goes to his head. so future gohan might do something similar. go super saiyan 2... lose control, injure gero.... but then others like piccolo, 17, etc. might have to snap him out of it/knock him out. xD

Oh I agree. I can't wait for the actual fight I'm so ready for it. Mostly because I want Gohan so badly to get super saiyan 2 cause future gohan needs a bit of a break. As for his rage/cockiness of gohan, Piccolo would be the only one strong and trusted enough to snap Gohan out of it.

Anyway new overall list of fanfics to be written:

Brothers Born To Be King: Part One

One small action. One different choice. One alternation can make a whole new story come to life. You already know the original story of how Loki became the villain. But many can't help but wonder new theories on how the Odinson family could change. This is a question answered. What if Loki always knew he was adopted?

The sounds of loud men filled the chambers of Asgard. Frigga was just putting her son, Thor, to bed. The queen practically rushed in her white nightgown, ignoring the click of her slippers. There was her husband, bloodied and covered in soot. Soldiers were rushing to nurses and healers, ignoring Frigga's worried questions of what was happening. Frigga turned to her husband and found him being healed, all except his one eye. Frigga gasped, terrified "Husband?! Your eye! The war! Did you win?"

Odin smiled in relief "Ah, Frigga, my love. At last you're here"
Frigga gingerly held his face "Husband, please, don't stall, tell me what happened"

Odin told her everything. From how rough, violent and difficult the Jotuns were to the painful, but swift, victory they achieved. They finally achieved peace, at the cost of both Jotun and Asgardian life. Odin took the casket of ancient winters, having no other option, and forced the Jotun King's hand to surrender. Frigga listened calmly and patiently, taking in everything he said. It was finally over. The war was finished. Odin sighed, replying calmly "That is not all I'm afraid" A young nurse came with a soft, silky cloth, holding a small object that was crying loudly. Odin took the cloth and Frigga widened her eyes to see a baby. A small, blue baby that wept openly. Frigga gasped, staring at it with concern, worry and confusion. Odin sighed, replying "I went to get the casket and found this infant. He was very close to death"

Frigga asked, sympathetic "W-Was this poor thing alone?"
Odin nodded "Yes, no one had come to claim him the whole time I was there"
Frigga became even more sympathetic "Really? No one?"
Odin nodded "He was on his own"

Frigga's heart broke. Then again it was already broken thanks to the baby's cries. Frigga loved children. She always dreamed of having thousands of little ones. But she was lucky to have Thor due to her physicality making it hard to bear children. She slowly took the baby, shushing it gently and cradling it in her hand. Odin looked expectantly, and nervously, at her. She knew that Odin came here with the baby to ask if she would take it. That wasn't even a question. Of course she would take this child as hers. If anything, as she kissed the child's head, the baby finally looked up with adorably big red eyes. It was then she knew that she was his mother. Frigga smiled knowingly "Then he belongs to us" Frigga smiled to the baby "My son. My sweet, miracle child" She kissed the child's head again "You will be called Loki. Meaning found" Odin nodded approvingly, looking to the boy with curiosity and concern.

She knew he would stick out like a sore thumb in this form, so she quickly drew two symbols on the baby's forehead. Asgardian symbols that would give the baby a permanent Asgardian appearance. When he was older, he would be given the choice to make his own physical identity. But until then, he needed to look similar. As her magic transformed the baby's appearance, she replied firmly "Odin. When our son is older, we must tell him of his origin"

Odin widened his eye, more concerned "But wife, what if---"
Frigga snapped gently "Odin. Secrets only make the heart grow resentful. You know this better than anyone"
Odin softened his gaze, confessing "I just do not want the boy to hate us if he is to be our child"
Frigga retorted "Wouldn't he hate us more if we lied to him, made him pretend he was something he is not?"
Odin argued "But he is of Asgard"
Frigga answered "And of Jotun. He can accept both sides and still be ours"

Odin went to argue more but the magic completed, giving Loki a new look. Instead of blue skin, he was pure as snow. Instead of markings, he had hints of black hair on his head. Instead of red eyes, they were a emerald green. The baby looked back to the adults with a adorably big, toothless grin, giggling gently. Odin realized that Frigga was right. No matter what, this was his son. Just as much as Thor was. Odin sighed, nodding "We will tell him. When he is older" This satisfied his wife and Odin replied teasingly "Thor will be pleased. He has been praying for a brother"

Frigga laughed openly "We will surprise him in the morning"
Odin nodded, chuckling "Two sons. Born to be kings. How prosperous for us"

Odin and Frigga went off to bed not long after Odin was healed completely. It was still a massive transformation. To have Odin lose something but gain another. Frigga though accepted it with grace, acceptance and determination. Like she always did. Odin married her and had a child with her for a reason. Odin watched as Frigga put the baby in the crib, in their room which was one door away from their son Thor's room. It was going to be different around here but the king looked forward to it.

Seven years later

"Can't get me, Loki!"
"Yes I can!"
"Then run faster!"

Seven years had passed. Thor was the equivalent of nine years old. His brother just two years younger. The two boys laughed as they raced with wooden swords. Loki pondered before deciding to use his magic powers to teleport. Just last year, Frigga gave Loki a blessing to learn magic. Thor didn't have any patience with it, preferring to learn wrestling and horse-back. Still, the boys found ways to play in spite of this small differences. Thor looked behind him to not see Loki there only to be surprised as Loki shouted a cry and gently stabbed his brother. Thor snapped, annoyed "Loki! Mother said you can't teleport when we're playing games!"

Loki spit a raspberry "You're just mad because I won!"
Thor stomped his foot "That's not fair! I'm telling!"
Loki sighed, offering his sword "Fine. Stab me. Then we're even"
Thor smiled, happy with this trade "Take this!"

Loki allowed the boy to stab him and the brothers hugged it out quickly. Loki pointed to the hall of artifacts and replied "Let's go in there!" Thor agreed, excited to look inside and the two boys explored in the hall. Within were treasures and pieces that their father earned, found or taken from enemy territories. Loki looked around, finally finding the casket. He looked to Thor, excited "Thor, look, it's the Casket!"

Thor grinned evilly "I dare you to touch it"
Loki sneered "No way, you touch it!"
Thor teased "What's wrong, brother? Scared to turn into a Jotun?"
Loki huffed "Mother said that's not true!"
Thor crossed his arms "Then you shouldn't have a problem"
Loki hesitated immensely "I-I still think you should touch it first"
Thor huffed "Fine, but you better do it afterwards"

Thor gulped a little, the story making him second-guess his bravery. But seeing how nervous his little brother was, it gave him more courage to touch it. Thor poked it twice before beaming bright "See! It's fine! Now you do it!" Thor smiled as Loki nervously go to the Casket. Thor encouraged excitedly "Come on, brother, it's easy. It's not even that cold" Loki slowly but surely poked it. This caused Loki's hand to turn blue, and the blue skin slowly went up the boy's arm. Loki screeched in a panic and Thor widened his eyes, horrified. Thor screamed, terrified that he caused his brother to turn into a Jotun. Thor pulled Loki back, seeing the blue skin go over his brother's body "Loki! LOKI!"

Loki started to cry "What's happening to me?! Thor, I'm scared!"
Thor grabbed his brother's hand "Hang on, Loki! I'll get help!"

Thor raced with his panicked little brother at his side. Thor shouted "Guards! Somebody! Somebody help! My brother is turning into a Jotun!" The guards gasped, pulling to see Loki completely blue with red eyes. One of the guards raced to get the king while another tried to calm the boys down. Thor turned to Loki, replying softly "You're going to be okay, brother. I won't leave you"

Loki sniffed, wiping his eyes "I don't want to be a Jotun! I don't want to be a monster!"
Thor held the boy close, replying firmly "You won't! You're not a monster! You'll be okay!"

"What is happening?!" Odin demanded as he raced over to see the commotion. He then widened his eyes to see that the magic Frigga put on Loki wore off. Odin turned to the guard that summoned him and firmly replied "Bring the queen here immediately" Odin then turned to Loki and Thor, demanding softly "Tell me what happened" After Thor quickly explained the situation, he realized that the casket had no effect with Asgardian magic. Meaning that anyone using or having magic from Asgard was effected. Odin nodded "I see" Odin pondered long and hard, holding the two sobbing boys close "Calm down, boys. You're not in trouble. Far from it"

Thor sobbed "I-I turned Loki into a Jotun"
Odin shook his head "No my son. That is just a myth. This happened for a different reason"
Loki sobbed "F-Father I'm scared"
Odin shushed assuringly "Don't be afraid, my son. Everything will be clear"

Frigga rushed in quickly, picking Loki up and rushing to the brother's room. Odin turned to Thor, guiding him along. Thor watched with relieved eyes as Frigga chanted gently, causing Loki to return to his Asgardian form. Thor beamed bright, happy his mother saved the day. Loki hugged Frigga in relief, allowing the queen to kiss his tears away. Odin sighed, replying to Frigga "My wife. I think it's time"

Frigga nodded, sighing "It is. We were waiting for this day"
Thor was confused "T-Time for what?"
Loki looked down "We're grounded aren't we?"

Frigga sighed again "No my love. You're not in trouble. If anything, I'm more mad at myself for not preparing sooner" Frigga and Odin put the boys on the bed and Frigga spoke first "Loki, Thor, my sons, you must understand one very important thing. No matter what happens you and Thor are our children and we will always love you both" Loki nodded as did Thor. Frigga calmly but gently replied "Thor, you remember the day we brought Loki in your room?"

Thor nodded "Yeah, you said a angel found him"
Frigga chuckled "Yes, we found it hard to explain that your brother was adopted"
Thor widened his eyes "Adopted? Like a puppy?"
Frigga laughed "Sort of. But babies are adopted when they have no one else"
Odin explained "What your mother is trying to say is, Loki was adopted from somewhere else"
Frigga pointed to Loki "That was why Loki turned blue. He was always a Jotun. He was born on Jotunheim"
Loki widened his eyes, terrified "W-What?! I'm a Jotun? I'm a monster?!"
Frigga pulled Loki close, replying firmly but gently "My son. You are NOT a monster. Don't ever say that"
Odin nodded profusely "Your mother is right. Just because you are a Jotun does not mean you are a monster"
Thor turned to Loki, confused "Loki's a Jotun? That's why he turned blue?"
Frigga nodded "I put magic on him to help him become Asgardian as well. Your brother is Asgardian and Jotun"
Thor widened his eyes before nodding with a warm smile "So Loki is still Loki, right?"
Frigga nodded "Yes, Loki is still Loki"
Loki looked embarrassed "But Frost Giants are evil"
Thor smiled assuringly "But you're not! You're my little brother! And anyone who says otherwise, is gonna get beaten up"
Odin chuckled "Thor, a wise king does not seek war, but must always be ready for it"
Loki sniffed, wiping his eyes "But I want to be Thor's brother, and your son"
Frigga held Loki close, kissing his head "You are our son, this changes nothing"
Thor nodded, beaming "That's right, Loki! We're brothers! Mother and Father said! It doesn't matter!"
Loki looked worried "You sure you're not upset, Thor?"
Thor scoffed "Upset? No way, I'm just glad you're not going to destroy the kingdom"
Odin smiled, replying sweetly "My sons. Remember. It does not matter where you're born"
Frigga continued, replying gently "It only matters what you do afterwards"

Frigga hugged the two boys, kissing their heads "You're both my lovely, precious miracle babies. Both are you were destined for greatness. Both of you were born to rule Asgard" Loki smiled softly to Thor while Thor beamed happily to his little brother. Thor hugged Loki tightly after Frigga pulled away and Loki sighed in relief as he realized this changed nothing. Frigga and Odin smiled assuringly to Loki and the younger Odinson finally felt safe. He finally felt like home again. As the four relaxed in the bedroom, Loki realized that this big event really wasn't so big after all.

Many years later

"ANOTHER!"

Thor threw the golden glass down on the fire. As he walked down the steps, Thor was confident and beaming excitedly. The golden prince was going to be King in just a few short minutes. No longer was he a toothy, dorky, petite blond boy. He was now a muscular, large, bold, handsome man. He had a golden beard to match his hair, he had a large red cape with a silver armored outfit. He put on his winged helmet, walking down the coronation hall with pride. The soon-to-be king, the firstborn of the Odinson family, the pride of everyone's life. Thor was waiting patiently for his father to announce him when he saw his brother smiling calmly. Thor was a little annoyed that his brother had to come out before him, but he supposed Odin didn't want to leave him out. Loki, like Thor, had changed immensely. He was much leaner, and taller, than when he was a child. He was still clean-shaven and his hair was a ebony black, but his eyes had become a darker green. He wore gold to opposite Thor's silver and his cape was green. He was also wearing golden, proud horns on his head, symbolizing his poise. Loki stood next to his brother, smiling "Nervous, brother?"

Thor chuckled cockily "Loki, when have you ever seen me nervous?"
Loki replied "That one time in Norheim where you sweated--"
Thor chuckled again "That was the passion of battle, brother"
Loki hummed "So was the teeth chattering I suppose"
Thor rolled his eyes "At least I was charging in, you stayed behind"
Loki argued calmly "To create a diversion for the giants coming to assist the ogres"
Thor scoffed "Some of us fight, some of us just have tricks"

Loki sighed, annoyed by Thor's teasing but he let it go. Then again, he was used to this mockery at this point. Thor tended to make fun of his magic a lot. Still, Thor usually relied on him for his magic so he supposed it was just brotherly jest. As the crowd was heard cheering, Loki decided to extend cheer to his brother's coronation by having fun. Loki replied teasingly "I love the feathers on your head"

Thor laughed "You don't want this to get ugly, do you, cow?"
Loki gasped "Hey, I was being sincere"
Thor replied firmly "You're incapable of sincerity"
Loki looked back, smirking "Am I really?"
Thor hesitated before saying "Yes"

Loki turned around, smiling warmly at his older brother "Thor, I've looked forward to this day, probably longer than you have. You're my brother and best friend. Sometimes I'm envious" Loki got closer, offering his hand "But never doubt that I love you"

Thor softened his gaze, for the first time in a while before holding his brother's hand. Then Thor pulled Loki in, holding his head affectionately "Loki. I know I'm an ass. I know I can be hard to deal with. But I never doubted that. I can only hope you realize I love you too" Loki's gaze was relieved while Thor smiled warmly "You mean a lot to me, brother. I hope you know that" Loki beamed, this was the closest they had ever been in so long. Maybe Thor was finally becoming close with him. Thor patted Loki's back, teasing playfully "Now give me a kiss"

Loki shoved him, laughing "Shut up!" Loki and Thor had genuine laughter before Loki gulped as his name was stated "How do I look?"

Thor beamed, winking "Like a prince"
Loki sighed "It's time"
Thor shoved Loki playfully "Come on, don't keep mother waiting, I'll catch up"

Loki obeyed, walking beside his mother. As the crowd cheered for them, Loki blushed, looking away. He was never a fan of the crowds like his brother was. If anything, all it did was make him want to hide. He was the more socially awkward of the duo. Which was why he didn't have nearly as much friends as Thor did. Lady Sif and The Warriors Three though beamed bright at the sight of Loki, especially Fandral who clapped the loudest. Loki was embarrassed, looking down at the floor. Frigga whispered gently "It is alright, my son. Keep your head up and smile. Let everyone see how handsome you are"

Loki blushed "Mother! Please!" But Frigga encouraged more and Loki obeyed, giving a shy but polite grin. Odin smiled, pointing Loki to the front of the throne area while Frigga stood beside Odin. Loki was confused, wasn't he supposed to stand by Frigga? Wasn't he supposed to get out of the way? Then Odin surprised him by announcing Thor next. Thor burst into the room, cheering and waving at everyone while showing his hammer. As Thor came, the crowd roared with delight. Women screamed excitedly while men whistled. Thor winked and blew kisses to the women, something of which made Sif gag teasingly. Thor then looked confusedly to Loki but kneeled by him anyway, even winking teasingly to Loki. Loki smiled, assured before looking to his father.

Odin slammed his staff down to silence the crowd, which worked, then he spoke "Thor Odinson. My heir. My firstborn. You are the next king of Asgard. You are destined for greatness as well as prosperity. The people will be guided by you, just as they have been guided by me" Thor beamed his head up, smiling bright. Loki looked up at Odin, curious to where his father was going with this. Odin commented "However, even great kings need a man behind them. Not only to help them succeed but to ensure they are guided properly" Thor's smile transformed into a confused frown. The crowd murmured confusion as well. Loki looked to Frigga who cocked her head for Loki to look at Odin. Sif, Fandral, Volstagg and Hogun shrugged to each other. Odin though continued in spite of this, looking to Loki "Loki Odinson. My youngest. You are this man behind the king. You will be his royal vizier"

Crowds of stunned, excited surprise came into play. Thor frowned even more, his confused gaze turning into anger. Loki though beamed bright, his confusion turning into absolute joy. This was it. He finally could join his brother side by side like they both wanted in the past. Thor however glared daggers at his brother, a sense of betrayal evident in his eyes. Sif was interested, nodding while the Warriors Three were dumbfounded. Frigga nodded approvingly while Odin continued "People of Asgard. Thor will be your king and will lead you to a bright future. But Loki will also lead you to a bright future. Both of my sons will give you nothing but joy and satisfaction" Odin turned to Loki, replying calmly "You may not see your potential, my son, but I do" Odin turned to see Thor shake in anger, replying assuringly "My firstborn, do not lose your temper. This changes nothing. You will be in control. Your brother will just help you if need be"

"I DON'T NEED HIS BLOODY HELP!"

Gasps, shocked groans and horrified responses came as Thor stood up and screamed this decree. Frigga widened her eyes, stunned while Odin hummed in disapproval. Sif, The Warriors Three and especially Loki were uncomfortable with this response. Loki widened his eyes, feeling terrified that the chances of having his brother close to him slip from his grasp. Thor boldly, and angrily, screamed as he pointed to his brother "He is not fit to rule beside me! He's not fit to rule at all!" Thor slammed his hammer to his chest "I am your son! I am the rightful King of Asgard! Not him!"

Loki stood up, replying gently "Brother, please calm down"
Thor shoved Loki down "Calm down!? Calm down?! Would you be calm if your own brother betrayed you?"
Loki widened his eyes, shocked by the accusation "Betray you?! Why on earth would I do that?!"
Thor pointed to his father "You planted something in his head, didn't you?"
Odin snapped firmly "Thor! That's enough!"

Thor turned to his father as did Loki, Odin replied harshly "Don't you dare forget your place. Son or not, I am currently the king. And I decide what is best for this kingdom. Even if that means going against you" Thor looked hurt by his father's words while Loki looked at his brother with hurt in his eyes. Odin replied firmly "You have many wonderful qualities Thor"

Thor interrupted "Then why are you making Loki my advisor?"
Frigga went over "Because even great people need help"
Thor sneered "Help? I don't need help! I can take care of this kingdom myself!"
Loki went over "Thor, listen to them, stop and think"
Thor turned to Loki, sneering "This was your plan all along. That's why you buttered me up earlier"
Loki sneered a bit "You really think that little of me?"
Thor snapped "Why wouldn't I? You're a trickster. Always have been"
Loki snapped "I'm more than that! If you just gave me the chance, maybe you'd see that I could--"
Thor interrupted him "Could what? Be a better king than me?"
Loki shouted "I DON'T WANT THE THRONE YOU SELFISH IDIOT!"

This caused silence and awkward gasps. Frigga went to stop them but Odin pushed her back, deciding to see where this went. Everyone was holding their breath as Thor widened his eyes as Loki finally yelled back at him. This was the first time, in a small while, that Loki courageously snapped at him like this. Thor softened his gaze, fearful but finally willing to listen. Loki snarled, the anger finally getting to him "I never wanted the throne!" He looked firmly into Thor's eyes "I just want to be your equal"

This made Thor's fearful gaze turned into a spiteful one "You're looking out for yourself. That's all you ever do"
Loki scoffed, replying smugly "Something tells me you're projecting"
Thor snapped "What is that supposed to mean?"
Loki sneered "It means you're the one who only thinks about himself"
Thor growled "You dare question your king?"
Loki shouted at the top of his lungs "BUT YOU'RE NOT KING!"

Loki's voice boomed across the halls, causing worried, nervous silence. This caused Thor's eyes to widen with shock as Loki once again spoke loudly at him. Loki's temper was usually hard to break but this was the second time in a row that Thor pushed his buttons. Thanks to Thor's ego and Loki's sensitive nature, the argument was getting worse. This loud statement was yet another strike. The thunder god though became more hurt and angry. The same was said for Loki. Both brothers were hurt and betrayed for their own reasons. Instead of being brought closer by this decision from their father, they only drifted further apart. Frigga desperately begged Odin to do or say something to stop this but the King decided to observe with a disapproving, concerned frown. The elder King stared at his sons, rather displeased by this arguing.

Finally he decided to intervene when Thor began to walk towards Loki aggressively. Odin got in between the two boys, pushing them away from each other. Odin replied calmly and firmly "That's enough. Both of you. Cease this childish bickering" Odin turned to the people, giving a strict look "Everyone! Leave us! I must speak with my sons alone!" The crowd quickly obeyed, all but Frigga stayed. Odin repeated to Frigga "Frigga, my wife, please leave us" Frigga looked softly to the two boys but nevertheless obeyed. Odin turned to Thor, replying coldly the second Frigga left "Thor. This is not up for debate. Your brother is going to be your advisor. You are incredibly strong, skilled and disciplined. But your brother has his own assets"

Thor scoffed "Like what? He despises war. He doesn't believe in the glory of our kingdom"
Loki argued "I do believe in the glory of our kingdom. I just believe there are other solutions besides war"
Thor turned to Loki "How do you expect people to fear us? Fear me? If I just twiddle my thumbs like a fool?"
Loki replied, desperate "We don't always need to cause fear"
Thor snapped "Oh really? Then what do you suggest we do when the Jotuns charge into Asgard?"
Loki replied patiently "Thor, you're letting your emotions guide your judgement. It's unwise"
Thor chuckled mockingly "Oh now you're trying to be the advisor"
Loki profusely nodded "Yes! I'm trying to succeed our father! Why can't you do the same?"
Thor shoved Loki hard "I AM trying to succeed him! I can't do that if I'm your puppet"
Odin firmly replied "Thor, your fear of having your brother control you is affecting our family"
Thor pointed to Loki "You may believe he has good intentions but I don't!"
Loki looked hurt as he demanded "I don't want to be king, Thor! I'm telling the truth!"

Thor snapped again "Are you so sure? How do I know? The Jotuns attacked us last week, they entered our borders. They snuck into the magical caves that YOU found. Who's to say you didn't help them?" Loki widened his eyes while Odin hummed disapprovingly. The accusations his brother constantly threw at him were overwhelming the younger prince. Thor sneered, pointing a accusing finger "How can I trust you when the facts are staring at my face? The bottom line is you're of Jotun blood. And you always knew that. You say you love us but that is not true. You want to betray us for the race that abandoned you"

Loki shouted, angrily "These are false, vicious lies! You'll say anything to make yourself feel better!" Loki shoved Thor, his temper finally getting worse. Odin pulled Loki back, trying to calm the boys down, desperate for them to prevent worse fighting. Loki though continued "I have never once asked anything of you, Father or Mother. I never, ever resented Father for his decision. If it was not for him, I would not be alive!" Thor looked down, aware of this fact. Loki finally succumbed to his own emotions "Was that day that you accepted my adoption a lie?" Thor widened his eyes, shocked by the accusation. Loki snarled, heartbroken and hurt "The moment father and mother told us that I was a Jotun, you thought of me as a monster. You stopped thinking of me as your brother. I'm nothing more than a runt of the litter. Or a stolen relic locked up here until you might have use of me"

Thor's anger finally subsided, turning into hurt "N-No. That's not true"
Loki looked more hurt "If it isn't true, why on earth would you believe I'd betray this family?"
Odin replied gently "Loki. Thor. You are brothers. We told you the truth to bring you closer"

Loki snapped, enraged "Well you didn't! All this did was rip us apart!" This made Thor look admittedly guilty but he also had his own hurt and anger. He looked hurt as Loki ranted with rage and sadness "I am Asgardian! I am an Odinson! Just like you! Yet all you see is nothing more than a obstacle for your glory!" Loki's tears filled his eyes as his anger became worse and worse. Loki got closer and closer to a sad Thor who tried to argue his point "It all makes sense now! Why you left me in your shadow, all these years!" Loki shouted, tears pouring out from his face "Because no matter how much you claim to be my brother, you could never have a FROST GIANT sit on the throne of Asgard!"

Silence. Loki's breathing became heavy as the two brothers coldly, and hurtfully, stared at each other. Thor took a few deep breaths before looking coldly at Loki "You really want to be part of this family?" Loki looked confused, wondering where his brother was going with this. Thor growled, anger in his expressions "You really think yourself to be my equal?" Loki widened his eyes as Thor aimed his hammer at him "Then prove it. You will spar with me. On your birth ground"

Odin was horrified "Thor! What are you suggesting?"
Thor turned to his father "We're going to Jotunheim and fight it out. We'll see who's worthy then"
Loki widened his eyes "Thor! We're forbidden to enter those grounds!"
Thor turned to Loki "If you really love Asgard, you'll sacrifice everything for it"
Loki snapped "Jotunheim is very dangerous! We'll be killed!"
Thor chuckled mockingly "You're afraid. Typical. You've always been a coward"
Loki snapped "I'm trying to protect you!"
Thor sneered "Or are you just trying to protect your people, you treacherous bastard"

That did it. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. All of Thor's accusations caused him to nearly surrender to his emotions. Hell, he did snap earlier, but now it really set Loki on the edge. Loki had enough. Despite Odin shouting for Thor and Loki to calm down, the Trickster punched Thor squarely on the face. Thor fell to the ground, holding his bloody nose. Loki was weaker than Thor but that didn't change the fact Loki had his own strength. Thor looked up to see Loki snarling down at him, opening his hand to reveal his magic. Loki replied, in evident rage "You dare call me a bastard?" He immediately made a portal, replying coldly "Fine. You want a fight? Let's fight" Thor laughed mockingly as he rose, racing after Loki as the two left for Jotunheim before Odin or anyone could stop them. Loki grabbed his daggers, looking almost hatefully at Thor "I don't care how long it takes. I will not let you think of me as a bastard"

Thor swung his hammer, sneering "Then hit me, if you have the guts"

Loki snarled, roaring an angry cry as he aimed to hit Thor. Thor slammed into him, causing the two to wrestle harshly in the snow. The fight became more and more intense. From magic, to energy, to physical blows. Loki was powerful but Thor surpassed him like always. Finally, Thor threw Mjonir right at Loki's body. Thankfully, the prince dodged it but it hit a tower from Jotunheim instead. Causing the tower to crash into countless others. Loki tried to stop Thor, realizing the situation but Thor punched him square in the face. Thor mockingly replied "Now we're even" Thor then kicked Loki in the stomach, snarling "Get up. Or are you done?"

Loki forced himself up, wrestling Thor down. Loki did have the upper hand but a forceful throw from Thor caused his upper hand to quickly disappear. Thor kept beating Loki down, causing his brother to get a black eye, bloody nose and countless injuries. Loki gasped for air as Thor slammed him into the ice, stomach first. Loki managed to get a second wind and slammed his face into Thor's, distracting him long enough to fall down. Loki coughed out before replying, hissing out a plea "Brother. W-We can't keep this from going on. The Jotuns will find us"

Thor harshly hissed back "Stop being such a coward" Thor grabbed Loki and punched him again "Or maybe you finally accepted me as your king?" Thor stomped on Loki's stomach "And that you'll never beat me" Thor chuckled as Loki's fight finally ran out. Thor grinned egotistically, replying "You see, brother, I will always win. Even if you did want to overthrow me, you wouldn't be able to" Thor grabbed Loki, sneering closely at his face "So don't get any funny ideas. We may be brothers but even you won't stand against my power" Loki coughed out a bit, trying to argue but Thor replied cockily "Don't bother arguing. My mind is set. You're going to stand down. And if father doesn't like it, then persuade him. You're good at that" He then threw Loki to the ground only to hear the ground rumble as roaring was heard. Thor widened his eyes, horrified "Jotuns? Here?!"

Loki picked himself up, quickly healing himself "I tried to warn you"
Thor turned to Loki, replying "You mean they heard us?"
Loki nodded "Of course they did! Why wouldn't they!? You broke their tower"
Thor huffed "They should be lucky that's all I broke. Considering what they did to our men last week"

Jotuns immediately surrounded the princes. Immediately, Loki used his telepathy to warn Hogun, as Hogun had been raised by two healers and learned telepathy. He had to get help. In case things get ugly. Thor though got his hammer, growling at the jotuns. The Jotun King walked forward and replied in a harsh tone "Asgardians are not welcome here. Our place is not a battle ground. You would do well to leave this place"

Thor snapped "Such big talk from murderers and thieves"
Jotun King harshly replied "The only murderer and thief around these realms is your king"
Loki walked forward, replying peacefully "Sire, please, we mean no harm. We just had a spat but it's over"
Thor looked to Loki, sneering "Know your place, brother"
Jotun King hummed "Is it true, Asgardian? Was it a mere sparring match or was it more?"
Loki shushed Thor as he replied "It was a debate between me and my brother. My brother was victorious and now we will go"

Jotun King nodded approval "Fine. Go. While I'm in a merciful mood"

Thor sighed, realizing his brother was actually trying to help. So he submitted as his brother guided him. Then a Jotun chuckled, looking to Loki with a amused look "Looks like the king is being told what to do by some princess" Loki saw Thor's eyes widen with anger and disgust.

Loki replied worriedly "Brother, please"

Thor replied in rage "Nobody calls my brother a princess and lives! This means war!" Loki was a little pleased Thor defended him instead of mocked him. But now he saw Thor kill at least two Jotuns in pure cold blood. Thor mockingly replied "Who else wants to lose to me? Come on, I love it!" Thor used his hammer so many times and Loki had no choice but to help. It was either that or let his brother die. Suddenly, just as someone was about to kill him, a arrow came and shot the creature. To his surprise, it was Hogun who shouted for an attack. Fandral, Volstagg and Sif also battled, with Sif panickedly rushing in. Then Thor was shoved into the ground and smiled at the sight of backup "Ah! My friends! You came to join me!"

Sif snapped "Well, we had no choice, you idiot!"
Fandral sliced a giant "We couldn't leave you boys behind!"
Volstagg cried in pain as his arm got burned "Be careful! Don't let them touch you! They burn your skin!"

Loki and Thor, finally, fought side by side instead of against each other. Thor turned to Loki, a hint of relief in his tone "Finally, just like old times, eh brother?" Loki smiled, having a similar sentiment. Then Thor was shoved away and Loki tried to save him but was grabbed by his left arm. This melted his armor and revealed his arm to be blue. The Jotun looked at Loki in pure confusion, staring with shock. Loki, in a panic, stabbed him in the chest before self-stabilizing his magic. He knew the Casket would reveal his true skin, but being touched by a Jotun apparently did the same thing. This revelation made him realize that his secret could come to life sooner rather than later. His friends and family knew. But, by Loki's own free will, the rest of Asgard didn't know yet. Loki didn't have time to process this as he saw Fandral, his closest friend, get stabbed in the stomach. Loki's rage got the better of him and he killed the giant that harmed him. Thor turned to Loki, replying cockily "Don't panic, brother! We will win! Just as our father did!"

Loki begged "Thor, we can't hold this any longer! We must go!"
Thor roared "Then go! But don't cry when I get all the glory!"
Loki turned to Sif "Sif! Get Fandral, I'll call Heimdall!"

Sif immediately obeyed, worriedly staring at Thor, shouting "Thor! Come on!" Thor eventually surrendered, fleeing alongside everyone else. They were stuck in a cliff before suddenly a rainbow appeared before them. It was Odin and his precious eight-legged steed. Sif widened her eyes, relieved "It is the Allfather!"

Jotun King stepped forward, replying "This doesn't concern you, Odin"
Odin retorted "You're attacking my heirs. This has everything to do with me"
Jotun King huffed "These actions were caused by your boys, Allfather"
Odin glared daggers at Loki and Thor "You're right. And they will be penalized for it"
Jotun King huffed again "That's not good enough, Allfather. Asgard will get what your eldest demanded. War"
Odin sighed, accepting "Then so be it"

Odin blasted the Jotun King before he could attack. Odin then allowed Heimdall to transport them. On the way home, Odin shouted angrily "Do you realize what you boys have done?! You have endangered our home and our people!" Loki looked down, kneeling immediately. Thor though stood proudly, trying to argue. Odin snapped angrily at Thor "Don't you dare think that you are getting away with this! You cannot protect when you also are the one who is a danger to the people!"

Thor snapped "I was acting as a King should!"
Odin retorted "A King knows when he is in the wrong, yet you act like you are in the right!"
Thor snapped "Because I am right! They're the ones who should be afraid, not us!"
Odin retorted "You cannot constantly demand respect when you yourself give no respect to others!"
Loki replied worriedly "Father, Fandral is injured"
Odin snapped "Loki, I am aware, do you think of me as a fool?"
Loki looked down "Of course not"
Odin snapped "Then be silent. You will speak when you are spoken to. Sif, Volstagg, go to the healing chamber and get Fandral's wounds tended to"

Sif and Volstagg obeyed, dragging Fandral along. Hogun bowed before rushing after them. Thor snapped angrily "You cannot expect people to sit by and listen to you. You cannot be a king if you do not get people to obey" Thor replied angrily and demandingly "Our enemies must submit to me just as they submitted to you" Loki wanted to argue with his brother but didn't want to ensure the wrath of his father. Thor was already pushing buttons, the last thing Loki wanted was to get into the chaos of it. So he kept quiet. For now

Odin snapped "Thor, that's vanity talking. You're ignoring all my teachings"
Thor demanded "Your teachings were useful then. They're not useful now"

Odin chuckled mockingly "And you're so sure about that? Have you ever used anything other than your muscles?" Odin shushed Thor harshly "Enough. You continue to spiral out of control. If you truly wish to be king, you will be silent!" Thor finally shut up, looking down in shame and anger. Odin turned to Loki with anger "You're just as responsible, Loki. You could have avoided this but instead you allowed your own pride to control you. Have you forgotten the decree your mother made you swear to? Have you forgotten everything she and I expect from you? You know better than to lose your temper like this. Your brother's temper is completely unacceptable but it's equally unacceptable for you to stoop to his level"

Loki's tears were evident as he nodded "You're right. It is. I am sorry"
Thor scoffed, mockingly "Oh look at you with the tears. Typical"
Odin snapped "That's enough! Haven't you caused enough turmoil in this family, Thor?!"
Thor rolled his eyes "This is how he gets you to feel pity for him. With the tears and the apologies"
Loki replied worriedly "Brother, can you for once put your anger aside to see the bigger picture?!"

Thor turned to him "You know what, forget the tears. Forget the possibility you want the throne. You honestly need to grow a spine!" Thor went to Loki, demandingly "Why are you so afraid? These Jotuns should be afraid of you! Especially after everything they've done to you!" Thor pointed to nothing as he replied to his brother "Didn't you see how strong we were? We can kill them together. Just like you want, right? You said you wanted to be part of this kingdom? Now is the time!"

Loki retorted softly "War isn't the answer, brother. Regardless of who is our enemy"
Thor snapped "We have no choice! It's the only way!"
Loki replied desperately "Thor, I refuse to believe there's not another way. We can find a different solution"
Thor snapped "No we can't! Didn't you hear them?"
Loki retorted "They only acted this way because you attacked them first"
Thor replied "Well it was either them or us!"
Loki snapped "And that's why we're in this situation, because you won't see any other way! Why can't you listen?!"
Odin nodded "Loki is correct. You're being unreasonable. Violence is never the first answer"
Thor retorted spitefully "It is. More than that, it is the only answer"
Odin snapped, finally too angry to compose himself "You are a vain, greedy, cruel child!"
Thor shouted loudly "AND YOU'RE AN OLD MAN AND A FOOL!"

This finally seemed to be the last straw. Coldness became evident in the entire room. Heimdall himself stiffened. Loki knew, from how defeated their father looked, that Thor finally went too far. Thor seemed to realize it too, as his anger finally subsided with regret and sadness. Loki looked back and forth, seeing the hurt from both parties. Loki got up, trying to vouch for his brother again "Father. He didn't mean it"

"No, Loki. He's right. I was a fool. To believe that your brother was ready to be king" Odin stepped down, turning to Loki who tried to push him back "Loki, stand aside" Loki hesitated, standing beside his confused, concerned brother. Odin sneered, snapping loudly "STAND ASIDE!" Loki stiffened, obeying immediately. Odin grabbed Thor by the shoulder, snatching Mjolnir from Thor's hand and shoved Thor to the end of the portal. He nodded to Heimdall who obediently opened it. Odin hurtfully but firmly replied "Thor Odinson. You have become not only a danger to your family. You have become a danger to Asgard itself. For your arrogance and your stupidity, you have dishonored your king, you have reignited the bloodshed. You have sacrificed your people for the benefit of WAR!" Thor shuddered in terror at his father's rage, looking down in shame. Loki watched in horror as his worst nightmare came to life. They were being ripped apart by him. He couldn't help but blame himself. This was his fault. Who else was to blame? Without him, Thor would be king and the realms wouldn't be in danger of war. It was his fault. All because he surrendered to his emotions. He had to conceal, like he usually did, but failed to do so. Now his family, kingdom and the realms were being ripped.

Odin though ignored him as he ripped Thor's outfit apart "You are unworthy of this realms" He continued, forcing Thor to kneel and made the man glow bright white as his godhood was stripped "You are unworthy of your title" He forced Thor up to look him right in the face "YOU ARE UNWORTHY! Of the loved ones that you have betrayed!" Loki watched with terror as Odin went to use Mjolnir to strip Thor of his power "In honor of my father, and his father before, I Odin Allfather CAST YOU OUT!" Thor instantly vanished with a loud shout of terror and despair, transported to Midgard. What many knew as Earth. The mortal realm. Odin then waited as the silence took a toll for a while. Then he turned to Loki, beckoning him "Loki Odinson. Step forward"

Loki did so but pleaded "Father, bring Thor back! I beg you!"
Odin shushed him harshly "He is a traitor to his kingdom and anyone who vouches for him is also a traitor!"
Loki looked down, guility replying "T-This should not be. I-I never wanted this to happen"
Odin hummed, calming down "Thor is responsible for his actions. Take only responsibility for yours"
Loki looked extremely ashamed "I am father. It is my fault Thor is banished"
Odin shook his head "No. You made me realize how selfish your brother is. And how you're far too selfless and insecure"
Loki widened his eyes "W-What?"
Odin replied "Thor's anger and vanity lead to his poor decisions. Your poor decisions were lead by guilt and enablement"
Loki was confused "I-I don't understand, father"

Odin nodded, aware and patiently replying "You will understand. And hopefully so will your brother. But until then, put your hands on the hammer" Loki did so, feeling power, energy and strength course through his veins. Odin whispered aloud "By the powers that be, if Loki be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor. If Thor be redeemed, so shall his title and status" With that, Loki felt a jolt within his heart and collapsed to the ground. While that happened, Odin threw the hammer out into the portal then assisted his son up "Loki. The burden of our family line, as well as Asgard, has fallen onto you. If your brother fails to see reason, Asgard is yours. Do you understand?" Loki had so many emotions with this one decree. But he didn't have time to process it. His father repeated, firmer "Do you understand?"

Loki nodded "Yes father. I understand"
Odin nodded "Good. Go tend to Sif and The Warriors. And do not leave the palace until you are needed"
Loki bowed "Yes, father"

Loki then raced off, storming to the healing chambers. He was going to check on his friends then sulk. There was nothing else to do. Thor was banished. His kingdom was in danger. His friends were hurt. And all because he used his magic for selfish reasons. A thing his mother made him swear never, ever to do. He didn't keep many promises but this was one he held true to his heart. The fact that he broke it felt like he betrayed everything he worked so hard for. He felt like he genuinely betrayed his Asgardian family over a insecurity. His father was right. He was lead by enabling his brother's anger and irrational emotions. He was supposed to be smarter than this, as his brother's advisor. Instead, he was no different than his brother. He went off, depressedly, to his friends and replied "Hello, friends"

Sif beamed "Loki! I thought you were in trouble!"
Fandral laughed "That's our Loki! Always finding a way out of trouble!"
Loki scoffed "Yes, apparently so"
Volstagg was stunned "Wow. Loki. What happened? Silver tongue turn to lead?"
Loki sneered "Thor was banished"
Sif, Volstagg and Fandral were stunned. Hogun widened his eyes "Banished? Thor? Really?"
Loki nodded, in despair "Our spar caused a war and now Father banished Thor and isolated me"
Sif was horrified "Thor is banished? To where?"
Loki softened his gaze "To Midgard"
Hogun widened his eyes "Odin must have made him mortal!"
Fandral hissed "I knew it was too good to be true"
Volstagg cursed "We never get away with anything, damnit"
Sif turned to Loki "D-Did you try to stop him?"
Loki nodded "I tried to beg for Thor's life, but Father's mind was made up. He called Thor a arrogant, reckless man"
Hogun sighed "Well, he is not wrong"
Loki replied "He is arrogant but that doesn't warrant banishment! Thor always had a bad temper!"
Sif nodded "You're right! Maybe once your father calms down, you can try to reason with him"

Loki looked angrily at Sif "If I do then what? It will not change the fact we are in the brink of war. Our fight has caused the entire cosmos to be in chaos. Thor may be reckless, but I was destined to lead him to something better. Instead I lead him to destruction! Is that what Asgard needs from an advisor?! If I cannot protect him, who can?" Loki then stormed off, racing to his room. He slammed the door and sat on his recliner, pondering and sulking in terror, guilt and sadness. He was forbidden to leave while his brother was forbidden to enter. All he wanted was the two to be beside each other. Instead, they were worlds apart.

And it was only going to get worse. Loki had a bad feeling this was far from over.

Brothers Born To Be King: Part Two/Final

Loki finally was alone. He pondered, processed and took in everything that happened within the day. Hell, the whole week. Thor was wrong to accuse him of treason but Loki finally understood why. The golden prince, despite his hurtful execution, was just trying to take care of Asgard. He meant well, even in his selfish ambition. The first thing Loki had to do was find out who exactly caused the Frost Giants to enter Asgard the week before. If not who, then what. That was the first thing he had to do. In order for Loki to be proven innocent, he had to find the one responsible.

But then that just boiled down to the fact that Thor didn't trust him. Loki supposed that wasn't unwarranted completely. Ever since the two were boys, Loki played pranks and tricks on him. Mostly because he was one of the few people he was comfortable messing around with. Loki had a difficult time making friends. Due to being socially awkward, shy and reserved. Sif, Fandral, Volstagg and Hogun had traits that made it easier for Loki to be friends with them. It wasn't impossible for Loki to befriend people but it was far harder for him than it was for Thor. It was very hard to get attention from others because of it. As such, he used his magic, tricks and humor to make up for it. He supposed his shy, reclusive and mischievous nature caused Thor to be suspicious every now and again. Loki progressed in both magic and maturity so Loki had a belief he wouldn't surrender to temptation. But that was what Thor feared. If Loki had progressed, who was to say he would use said progress for the good of Asgard? It didn't help that Loki DID have access to many places in Asgard. Including Jotunheim itself. A place that Loki had admittedly went to, in order to properly connect with his birth race. It wasn't too challenging to see why Thor came to the belief Loki left a portal for Frost Giants.

It also didn't help that his impulses surrendered today. Odin was right. From the moment Frigga took him as her student, she made him swear to use magic for beneficial purposes. Not for selfish reasons. Loki wasn't perfect, Frigga knew, but she made it clear that his magic was a weapon. Very much like a spear, it could kill someone if one wasn't too careful. Loki had the choice to reject Thor's dare. His parents, friends and eventually Thor himself would respect this decision. But he didn't. He enabled Thor's behavior. Just like he always did. Usually, Thor managed to get his brother to do things he wasn't supposed to do. Thor had his own ways to manipulate and enforce Loki into his schemes. A lot of the time Loki enabled him to spend time with Thor or make Thor happy. Sometimes Thor was happy or rewarded Loki by hanging out, sometimes Thor threw him away when he outlived his usefulness. Loki realized, right then and there, what his father meant by enablement and guilt. He enabled Thor because he felt guilty for being adopted. Plain and simple. Even now as a adult, he just wanted to be close with his brother. He knew Thor loved him. He knew Thor considered him as part of the family. But Thor made it very clear that he had doubts and insecurities about him. It begged the question: Did Thor truly accept him?

He knew his friends did, especially Fandral and Hogun. He knew his father did. He knew his mother did, obviously. But Thor was a representation of the people. He knew the people better than Loki did. Who was to say the people would accept him? Especially if their golden prince didn't? Loki honestly didn't mind being rejected by the public. He would understand. If anything, he would feel the same way if someone was a Frost Giant posing as a Asgardian. Regardless of Odin, and Frigga's, efforts the people were afraid of Frost Giants. They had their prejudices. Sure, some Frost Giants WERE citizens here and were accepted as Asgardian. But the doubt and fear still lingered like a shadow. Would this doubt and fear cause Thor to get worse? Would Thor really truly let his anger go? Those were questions that didn't have answers yet.

Other, countless, questions filled Loki's mind. Would Thor change? Would he be WILLING to change? Thor's ego and temper was built for strict beliefs. Thor was always a stubborn person. It didn't help that everyone surrendered to him. He was strong, confident and unapologetically competitive. It was easy to submit to him. His mother, father and only certain teachers talked back to him. Many people feared Thor immensely, including Loki himself. That was why Loki rarely talked back. That was why Loki tended to enable him. It prevented him from facing Thor's mighty wrath. Thor was right. He was a coward in many aspects. Maybe he DID need to grow a spine. He would probably have no choice but to find some courage. A war would come at any time. It was very likely Loki would have to face the battlefield, alone, without his brother. Thor was miles away. On a moralistic, spiritual journey in a mortal, new land. If Thor didn't change soon and get his strength back, it would be extremely likely everyone would suffer. Not just Thor but his home too. Loki was hoping Thor would see reason. He was hoping Thor would be king as was destined, expected and hoped for him. Loki did NOT want the responsibility. Loki did NOT want to steal Thor's birthright. All he wanted was Thor to succeed. He loved his brother more than anything else. Loki was even willing to suffer great punishment, even die, for him. But that was the thing. Thor wouldn't believe it. Thor believed he could take care of himself and fight his own battles. Loki just wished that Thor understood that Loki just wanted to protect and support him. He wanted Thor to realize that Thor didn't need to be alone. That he didn't deserve to be alone.

That was the main thing Loki didn't want to be. Alone. He was born alone. But he didn't want to die, and live, alone. For all his insecurities, flaws and shortcomings, Loki was a people person. He wanted to connect with others so badly. He wanted companionship more than most. Yet everyone understandably believed him to be the ice prince to Thor's golden king. Due to his reserved, controlled personality, many people assumed him to be cold and rather unapproachable. Loki understood why. Loki was hurtful, spiteful and aggressive in his own right. Not with his body but with his words. Thor could beat the shit out of someone but Loki could break someone's heart in a matter of seconds. A king needed to be a guide, a leader, a person people could go to and bond with. Loki didn't believe himself to be that person. If he was King, he would have to lead, and guide, a whole kingdom. It was a burden Loki wasn't sure he could carry. That was why being an advisor seemed like the perfect job. It was helping the kingdom without facing the people. It was helping his brother without taking his power. It was supporting his father without replacing him. Now that chance of this job was slim, just like Thor's chances of redeeming himself.

Still, Loki knew he had a lot of work to do. This was his mess too. He had to clean it up. Starting with the mystery of the Frost Giants. He was not allowed to leave the kingdom until his father said. But that didn't mean he couldn't get others to do it or even solve the mystery. So, he started with the easy way, he went to Heimdall. Heimdall was his confidante. One of the few people Loki connected to a personal level. Heimdall was more than a friend, the man had known him since he was a small boy. It was like another father. Loki rushed to Heimdall, bowing shyly "Hello Heimdall"

Heimdall looked knowingly "You wish to understand the chaos that surrounds you"
Loki sighed "That's a basic way of putting it"
Heimdall chuckled "If I understood it myself, what makes you believe I wouldn't tell you?"
Loki replied "You don't have to know everything, I just... I want to prove my innocence"
Heimdall raised an eyebrow "Innocence? Of what?"
Loki replied "Thor thinks I caused the Frost Giants to attack us last week through the secret portals"
Heimdall chuckled "You cannot control everyone, Odinson. If you could, we wouldn't be in this spot"
Loki sighed "Thor doesn't know that. He thinks I opened the portal"
Heimdall pondered "The portal had been open for much, much longer. I'm surprised we weren't attacked sooner"
Loki widened his eyes "Wait, you knew it was open for this long?"
Heimdall nodded "Yes, I kept Odin alert. I told him about it. He said it was not a concern"
Loki widened his eyes "T-Then Father knows who's responsible, right?"
Heimdall retorted "No. He only knows that the portal was open. It is not confirmed what caused it"

Loki pondered, sitting thoughtfully by the portal. He studied Heimdall's spear then processed everything he knew about the secret portals. The secret portals could only be activated by Asgardian royal blood or special magic. Loki got away with it through his mother's magic. So, sadly, this didn't rule him out. Loki then turned to Heimdall, hopeful "Heimdall. What if someone did it on accident?"

Heimdall hummed "That is completely possible"
Loki hummed, sad "So it is possible I did it without knowing"
Heimdall sighed "It would appear possible. But it was not you. I know the signature of your magic"
Loki widened his eyes "That's right! Everyone has different signatures! When I officially made my own magic, I made my own signature!"

Heimdall walked down, sitting beside Loki, patting the man's back "If I may theorize, your majesty" Loki nodded, insistent, wanting to know his friend's advice. Heimdall sighed, replying calmly "The facts I have is that portal was activated purely by a person of Royal Asgardian blood" He continued calmly and factually "Asgardian Royal Blood means you are tied to, or control, the castle itself. Meaning people like me also have Royal blood. So, only staff of high honor such as your friend Sif, or people like your mother are suspects in this situation" Heimdall replied firmly "That means you have specific suspects. Sif, The Warriors Three, your father, your mother, myself--" He then replied worriedly but unapologetically "Or your brother"

Loki widened his eyes "Thor would never do that. Not on purpose"
Heimdall replied "You will have to look at every path to get to the right one"
Loki shook his head "No. I refuse to believe Thor is responsible"
Heimdall sighed "Loki, I know you trust your brother but sometimes you cannot afford to"
Loki looked down "I-It cannot be. I-It is not possible"
Heimdall sighed again "It is possible. But that does not mean it happened"

Loki got up, replying firmly "We will solve this. Until proven otherwise, Thor is innocent. As am I. Stay and abide to your duty. As of now, my father is still the king and we all most obey him" Heimdall smiled approvingly, nodding in consent. Loki sighed, pondering "I'm going to speak to Mother. She always finds clarity even in dark storms" Loki raced to find his mother and found her walking to his room. Loki looked shyly to his sad, worried mother. He tried to be kind to her, knowing how stressed she was "Hello Mother. You look pale" Loki joked playfully "Your son's golden hair gave health to your skin"

Frigga chuckled "Oh Loki, my sweet son, always trying to protect me even when you are so afraid"
Loki held her hands "Do not be in despair. He will return, Mother. Safe, and ready to lead our kingdom"
Frigga looked down, sad "I really hope so. If he perishes, I will never forgive myself"
Loki squeezed her hands "That will never happen. I will bring him back. By the hair if I must"
Frigga smiled, fond and appreciative "You are such a good brother. If only Thor realized that"
Loki replied, hopeful "He will. I prove it to him. I know I am unworthy but he will see that I can still help him"
Frigga sighed, sad "Oh Loki, you always think the best of others but never yourself"
Loki looked away "It is my fault this is happening"
Frigga pulled Loki to look at her "Loki. You mustn't take everyone's burden. Not everything is your mess to clean"
Loki argued gently "But I used my magic for selfish purposes"

Frigga gently sighed "Perhaps, but it would not be the first time. You will always make mistakes. But you can always set them right. You can always try to do better. And many times, you have progressed and matured. You need to see yourself the way you see Thor" Frigga held his cheek, smiling even as Loki's eyes burned into her with sadness and insecurity "Being a man is always a process. Being a leader is a process. Everything is a process. It is never set in stone. Thor can change but he must be willing to accept the process of change" Frigga sighed, looking deeply into her younger son's eyes "You must be willing to accept change too. Change is a part of life. Change is a part of growth" Frigga looked outside to see the kingdom have a beautiful sunset "Our lives are like the day itself. It shifts, ever moving forward" Frigga smiled gently "Just continue to have hope things will get better. That we will all be together again. That your brother will come home"

Loki softly asked "What hope is there for Thor?"
Frigga smiled "Plenty. Especially when he has you"
Loki looked down "Mother. Heimdall and I are trying to discover who caused the portal for the Frost Giants"
Frigga hummed "You mean the incident of last week? The one that killed at least thirty civilians and ten men?"
Loki nodded profusely "We suspect someone of royal blood"
Frigga nodded "Heimdall used to be my student but he preferred controlling the door instead. It was easier"
Loki asked gently "Mother, is it possible it was an accident?"
Frigga nodded, extremely hopeful "Oh absolutely. And whoever caused it will be forgiven if it is"
Loki nodded, sighing "Thor believes I did it. Heimdall thinks Thor might have done it"
Frigga held her breath before nodding solemnly "Well, whoever did it, what was done is done. This event should not destroy our family and kingdom. We cannot focus on the past. Only the present"

"LOKI!"

Sif raced to chase after Frigga and Loki, panicked and upset. Sif sniffed, turning to Loki "Loki, come quickly, it's the Allfather! He wants to talk to you! It's urgent!" Loki panicked too, terrified of what was wrong. Was his father sick? Was the war about to start? Did Odin change his mind? Did Odin need him as the king after all? So many questions but Loki knew he needed to help his father. Sif turned to Loki, replying worriedly "He said it's about the fate of the Kingdom! He said something about three days!"

Loki raced after her "Three days for what? A war? Thor's return?"
Sif shook her head "I don't know. He just told me to get you!"
Loki worriedly replied "Was father really sick when he spoke to you? He hadn't had a Odinsleep in fifteen festivals time!"
Sif replied nervously "I-I don't know. I panicked"
Loki cursed "You should've tried to get me sooner"
Sif replied nervously "Well you ran off when we last talked, sorry!"
Loki waved it off "Never mind, let us just find him"

Loki and Sif eventually found the king leaning by his desk. He was writing calmly but breathing heavily. Sif stayed by the doorway, in case, but Loki walked gently over. He sat by his father, replying "I am here Father" Odin smiled weakly, squeezing his son's shoulder. Loki immediately could tell something was wrong. He was trained to prepare for Odinsleep in case. Frigga and Thor were trained also. Loki saw how white his skin was, how sweaty he was, how hard it was for him to stay awake. Loki replied softly "Father, I know you are tired" Loki replied assuringly "I will fix this. I swear I will"

Odin smiled "I know you will, my son. But before you do I must tell you something. Please listen. Do not interrupt" Loki obeyed, allowing Odin to continue "Loki. Your brother has a chance to redeem himself but only if he is willing. He has three days before the Jotuns truly arrive with a army here. He must make his own choices and realize the error of his ways. If he fails, you must allow yourself to let him go and do what is best for Asgard" Loki tried to not interrupt but nervousness, despair and confusion was evident in his eyes. Odin repeated, tenderly "You must let go of him. Let go of your need of his approval. Let go of your fear of his power. Let go of this belief that he is better than you" Loki looked down, realizing what his father was saying. Odin firmly, but weakly, replied "Loki, look at me, please" Loki did so, nervous and sad "I know you do not believe it but you were born to be King. Just like your brother. You may fear him. You may love him. But you are not weaker than him. You are not inferior to him. You are in control of who you wish to be. Whether you are a Jotun, Asgardian or both. You must realize that you are part of his family, no matter what your brother tells you" Loki breathed heavily, very touched by these words. He knew his father accepted and loved him. But Odin was not as verbal, affectionate or patient as Frigga was. To hear all of this from his father gave him everything he needed. Loki listened with appreciation and love as he held his father's hand. Odin continued "Loki. Never forget. It does not matter where you're born, it only matters what you do afterwards" With that, Odin slowly collapsed on the desk, sleeping soundly and quietly.

Loki finally spoke, shaking his father "Father? Father! Wake up!" Loki shook him more before realizing that the Odinsleep officially took affect. He had to get Odin to his chamber and help him get support. It would make all the difference between Odinsleep and death itself. Loki screamed "Sif! Get help! Quickly!" Sif obeyed, rushing and calling for the queen and guards. Guards helped Odin and escorted him to his room. Frigga did her healing before shutting the windows of the room. Loki helped his father get comfortable before softly replying "Thor has three days, Mother. Three days before the Jotuns arrive"

Frigga sighed "Never lose hope, Loki. There is always a purpose to everything your father has done"
Loki nodded "The person responsible for the portal doesn't matter. It must be closed. I'll get that done"
Frigga replied gently "Afterwards go to Heimdall and get your brother back"
Loki widened his eyes, pleased but concerned "Of course. But what about his redemption?"
Frigga replied "He can be disciplined and make his journey on Asgard. When he does, you both will rule. Together"
Loki smiled, approving before getting nervous "And if he fails?"
Frigga replied firmly "Then you will be King. Asgard will be yours. As your father decreed"
Loki widened his eyes, terrified "Mother, no offense but that's a terrible idea!"
Frigga hummed in disapproval "Loki. You are a excellent warrior. You can easily deal with this war. You are capable"
Loki shook his head "Mother, I am not. I cannot lead! I don't even know if the public will accept me!"
Frigga replied gently "My son. You love the Kingdom. You are smart, powerful and selfless. Of course they will"
Loki looked insecure "People cannot trust someone who does tricks. I can't believe myself as worthy to be king"
Frigga smiled knowingly "You will. In time. You will see yourself as I see you"

Loki walked off, processing his mother's words. After a while, he accepted his mother's decree and fixed up the portal with Sif's assistance. He looked to Sif, smiling "Good news. I will get my brother back" Sif beamed, hugging him. Loki smiled to her, replying "Tell the Warriors Three of the great news. Mother ordered for his return. Everything will finally be set right" Loki sighed, rubbing his eyes "In the meantime, I shall be in charge while he is in rehabilitation"

Sif nodded, smiling "This seems like a great plan"
Loki chuckled "Mothers. They always know best, right?"
Sif laughed "Go get him, you dork!"

Loki laughed, feeling more and more joyful. The more he thought about it, the greater this sounded. Loki was king for a temporary time. Thor would redeem himself and easily take Loki's place. Then Loki would be his advisor and everything would be back to normal. He returned to Heimdall who was pondering. Loki replied excitedly "Heimdall, great news! Thor can return!"

Heimdall hummed "Is your mother sure this is wise?"
Loki beamed "Of course it is! With Thor, everything will be set right!"
Heimdall hummed again "You have so much doubt in your own ability"
Loki waved it off "Quick, get the portal ready. Send me to Earth"
Heimdall hesitated "You will have to be mortal to enter"
Loki widened his eyes "W-What?"
Heimdal replied "This portal is not updated yet. Immortals cannot enter mortal realms"
Loki was confused "I thought Odin had decreed that law be changed"
Heimdall nodded "It is changed but it was supposed to be updated when your brother was coronated"

Loki pondered long and hard. He paced back and forth before snapping his fingers "I got it! I can make myself mortal! Mother taught me this trick to blend in within Nilmheim's borders. It's a temporary spell anyway. Three days should suffice" Heimdall gave a concerned look but Loki waved it off "I can do it. Anything to set things right for our kingdom" Loki stepped back and did some chanting then had his hands on his chest. Certain green energy was drained from him as well as white magic. Together it made into a light ball and Loki breathed heavily. He carefully put this energy into a glass bottle and gave it to Heimdall "Take this. Keep it safe until it's ready to be released"

Heimdall immediately did so but commented "If you get hurt, you can die. You realize that, right?"
Loki shrugged, smiling smugly "Come on. It is Midgard. Where humans think of us as gods. It should be fine"

Loki went to get more things to prepare for his journey. He was so busy planning he didn't hear Heimdall's other warning "This comes with many prices. Being a mortal means you have very limited things" He continued, in spite of Loki preparing "You will not be known to anyone. They will not believe your decrees of power or authority as things work differently there. Mortals have many languages and many cultures. You cannot use magic of any kind as a mortal. You will have limited strength and abilities. You will only rely on your wit. You need to understand that"

Loki was too excited to listen, replying "Heimdall, what are you standing around for? Get the portal ready"
Heimdall replied "So confident in this plan, yet not of your own ability. You are an odd boy"
Loki sighed, scoffing "Would not be the first time I was told that. Just do it"
Heimdall rolled his eyes "You're acting impulsive again"
Loki retorted "And you're bossing me around again. Some things never change"

Heimdall made the portal ready while Loki did a couple more magical things to disguise himself as a human. He was dressed in a plain, but fancy, black suit with a blue-white checkered scarf. He replied firmly "Make sure this portal is open for Thor" Heimdall hummed but nevertheless obeyed and felt the portal forcefully fly him out. Loki realized how scary this was as a mortal. It was far faster, and far more bumpy, as a human body. He screamed as he fell to the muddy, rainy ground. Loki threw his hair back, growling "Heimdall did that on purpose" Loki brushed himself off "He ruined this nice suit. Let me just clean it up" He snapped his fingers to clean with his magic but widened his eyes as he didn't work. Loki widened his eyes "Heimdall. He said something about magic not working as a mortal" Loki was horrified with this implication "Three days without magic?" Loki widened his eyes more "Three days... without MAGIC?!" Loki panicked "What the hell am I going to do? Oh gods, he was right! I should have planned this better! I was too excited to get my brother! I was too distracted! The dumb bastard that I am! Why do I always forget things when he is involved? Why must I always surrender to distractions? Damnit!"

"Hey, dude, can you shut up? For real?"

Loki screamed in a panic as a pale white woman came to his view "Who are you?!"
The woman smirked smugly "What's the matter, fancypants? Never see a vagina before?"
Loki sneered "Well, you are awfully crass. Is that any way to speak to a prince?"
The woman rolled her eyes before bowing mockingly "Oh I'm so sorry, your majesty. Would you like a nice warm milky baba?"
Loki sneered more "You're mocking me, aren't you?"
The woman snickered "Oh, you have some type of brain. Name's Darcy by the way"
Loki looked at Darcy up and down "Listen, Darcy, I have no time for your jests. I must find Thor"
Darcy widened her eyes "Thor? As in stupid, big, blond Thor?"
Loki widened his eyes "You know him?"
Darcy pulled Loki along "Come with me. I need to have you talk to somebody"

Loki was dragged into a empty garage where a woman, and a old man, were fixing up newly bought computers. Darcy shouted "Hey Jane! Jane! This guy knows about your boyfriend!" Loki was absolutely dumbfounded while the two women bickered about the new woman's, who was called Jane, dating life. The old man looked at him suspiciously which made Loki really wish he wasn't as filthy as he was. He looked really wet, muddy and disgusting thanks to the weather. Darcy eventually replied "Look this dude is looking for him. I think you should talk to him"

Jane went over, replying excitedly "You know Thor?"
Loki replied "I am his brother"
Jane beamed "He talked about you! Loki, right?"
Loki nodded "Yes, where is he?"
The old man scoffed "In jail. Yet again. He went to steal SHEILD property"
Loki widened his eyes "Wait. Again? To steal what?!"
Jane corrected "No, he went to get back our stuff and that hammer of his"
Loki replied "Hey wait a minute, what? What is happening?"
Jane blushed "Oh, shit, sorry. You're confused. My name is Jane. This is my friend Darcy"
Loki huffed "Trust me we met already. Crass woman"
Darcy snorted amusement "If you think I'm crass, you should meet my Mom"
The old man interrupted "I'm Dr. Selvig. Now why are you here? We already are dealing with one crazy man, we don't need another"

Loki replied nervously "I mean no trouble. I just came to Midgard to find my brother and return home with the bifrost"
Selvig widened his eyes "Oh jesus, not you too. Why can't I deal with normal people?"
Jane replied "Wait, you can't take him home! He needs to help me rediscover the alternate realities!"
Darcy replied "Meaning Jane wants to bang him first"
Jane snapped "I do NOT!"
Loki snapped "Okay, seriously! Someone tell me what the hell is going on?!"

Jane then turned to Loki, pulling the man close "Look, listen. Let me explain what's going on" Loki was relieved as Jane kept to her promise. Jane, Darcy and Selvig met Thor when he was banished the night before. The three were attacked by him at first, forcing the man to go to jail for the first time. After Jane took pity on him, paying his bail, Thor resided with them. Jane, Darcy and Selvig all bonded with Thor, Jane even befriending him. SHEILD, thanks to their studies on Mjolnir and countless projects, took their property for privacy reasons. Thor, realizing they had his hammer, went after them. Jane replied sadly "So, we had to start from scratch but hopefully Thor will get my things"

Loki looked down "Miss Foster. I am sorry. But right now, I'm afraid your research must wait. I need to take him home"
Selvig nodded approvingly "Yes! Please! Take him home!"

Loki explained to a sad Jane "We can help your situation later. But right now, he must return. My people are in danger of a war. Endangering not just my home but yours also" Loki explained his entire situation, something of which stunned the three humans. Loki ended it with "We are on the brink of war. His actions, and mine, caused turmoil. And it will affect thousands of innocent lives" Loki sighed, replying "Without Thor, we are lost. He is the strongest warrior and the most dedicated man I know. He is our pride and future" Loki looked down, replying softly "I must do what I can to protect Asgard. And the nine realms"

Jane sighed, pointing to the right "They went that way. It's on the outskirts of this state"
Loki hummed "Which state is this area?"
Darcy answered "New Mexico"
Loki hummed, confused "W-Wait, there is more than one Mexico?"
Darcy widened her eyes "Holy crap, Selvig, I think Thor wasn't crazy"
Selvig rubbed his eyes "Maybe not. But I'm about to be if this doesn't change"
Loki looked around, asking "Is there a stable with horses by any chance?"
Darcy replied "No but we have this cool new thing called cars"
Loki pondered "Cars? What type of animal is that?"
Jane pulled Loki "Come on. You're in for a history lesson"

Jane, Darcy and Selvig gathered up everything they could before driving Loki to the SHEILD Headquarters. They explained they were planning to confront them anyway. Loki supposed the stars aligned. Loki couldn't use magic but he looked around, realizing he could maybe persuade the people to let him in. He borrowed an old suit and pondered "Jane, is it possible you could use your computer to help change my identity?"

Jane nodded "Yeah, I did it for Thor, why?"
Loki replied "Call me his lawyer. You said you would get one, right?"

Jane widened her eyes before understanding Loki's plan. She made up some forms as well as a ID to help him enter. He quickly used a old briefcase, much to Selvig's annoyance, to help with his disguise. He entered the building, smiling warmly to a agent who walked over to him "Good morrow, sir. Might I get your name?"

The agent smiled "Agent Coulson. And you are?"
Loki replied "I'm William Muxton. Ah, I have an appointment"
Coulson smiled knowingly "Ah. You must be that attorney Selvig said he would get"
Loki took the bait, nodding "Yes, that would be me. I'd like to speak with my client in private"
Agent Coulson replied "Well, he's here for domestic assault on many agents"
Loki smiled nervously "Well, why do you think I'm here? I wish to discuss our options"
Agent Coulson turned to a agent who inspected him, the agent replied "He's good to go, sir"
Agent Coulson nodded, cocking his head "Follow me"

Agent Coulson escorted him and Loki replied, nervously "I can assure you, my client and I will be more than happy to come to a arrangement with you" Loki explained his situation and replied "If there is any way to release him quickly, I will be more than happy to accommodate to it"

Coulson responded firmly "My men are the definition of Military discipline. Trained under special elite. Yet your client made them look like a bunch of mall cops" Agent Coulson smiled teasingly "I gotta admit. It stings but I'm impressed. I've been trying to get him to at least confess and tell us who he really is. Because no normal guy can do that. I was wondering where he came from. Afghanistan maybe?"

Loki shook his head "No. Asgard"
Agent Coulson raised an eyebrow "What?"
Loki panicked, realizing Heimdall's advice "Um, I'm joking, of course he was in Afghanistan. He was in service for five years! Honorable discharge but, well, he has never recovered from it. Loves to cause trouble nowadays"

Coulson hummed, seemingly suspicious but nevertheless he opened the door. To Loki's joy, there was his brother. The blond man widened his eyes at the sight of him, shocked but admittedly pleased. Thor looked a bit disheveled thanks to the mud and cuts around his body. He was wearing a blue t-shirt with jean pants. Loki couldn't help but wonder what had really happened. Thor seemed tired, depressed but nevertheless hopeful now. Loki smiled brightly, playing into the lie "Hello Mr. Blake. My old friend. It's been so long"

Thor asked, still surprised "L-Loki?!"
Loki laughed, shoving Thor "Oh you old rascal! Still with the nicknames!"
Agent Coulson raised an eyebrow "Nicknames?"

Loki explained "Donald and I were mythology fans. Since we were children. Donald was always a fan of Thor, hence Thor. I preferred that no-good trickster" Loki then whispered to Thor calmly "Trust me. Just play along" Thor nodded, laughing playfully as Loki laughed "Remember that one time you punched that barman?"

Thor laughed "Oh yes! But it was funny! He took it like a champ!"
Agent Coulson chuckled "Are you always this upfront of your client's information?"
Loki blushed "Well, um, he confessed to the crime. And hopefully I'll convince him to make a deal with you"
Agent Coulson left, chuckling "See that you do. I'll see you around"

Loki sighed, absolutely relieved the second the door closed. Thor pulled Loki in for a hug, delighted "Loki! You bastard! You did it again!" Thor laughed before looking confused "What are you doing here? I am banished, remember?" Thor looked ashamed "The hammer. It will not work for me anymore. It means I am still unworthy"

Loki replied assuringly "Brother. You are not the hammer. You must believe that"
Thor sighed, depressed "I really did miss your brown-nosing, brother. I really need it"
Loki chuckled, sitting beside him "I bring you great news. You can return home"
Thor widened his eyes "B-But what about father's decree?"

Loki replied softly "Father has fallen into Odinsleep" Thor widened his eyes, absolutely shocked and saddened. Loki explained "Mother is fearful he will not awaken again. The burden of the throne has fallen to us, brother. She has made it clear she wishes us to fight this war. Together. The Jotuns will come in three days, to attack" Loki looked desperate, hoping that the news plus his effort would make Thor realize what was at stake. He hoped his brother would finally put his distrust in him aside for the benefit of Asgard. He hoped they could finally be close again. Loki replied determinedly "It is not too late. Mother said there is hope" Loki looked down, admitting "And you were right. About me" Thor listened intently, hope and determination in his eyes "I was a coward. But not anymore. I realize now war is going to happen. I am willing to fight. As long as you are beside me" Loki looked to Thor, pleading "I may be unworthy, but you are not. Please brother. Come home"

Thor pondered long and hard, he paced back and forth. He seemed to be taking in everything from his journey on Earth to what Loki was saying. He seemed to be taking in what had transpired and what was about to happen. Thor seemed to have a horrible realization. He slowly turned to Loki, replying softly "Brother. Listen to me. I will set things right. As I am supposed to" Loki nodded, listening intently. Thor replied softly "I have a new theory. I was wrong. You did not make that portal. Father did" Loki widened his eyes, listening but still shocked "That portal, I remember, it was there when we were running from the Jotuns. Five weeks ago. Remember, that trip father took us too to teach us it's culture" Loki nodded, recalling that old incident. Thor asked gently "Remember, that Father transported us there?" Loki widened his eyes, absolutely stunned and horrified. Thor was right. Their father unintentionally did this. Primarily to teach Loki of his heritage. So, yet again, he unintentionally caused this. Loki began to panic but Thor held him close "No, no brother. You see. I'm not angry. I'm grateful. You made me realize that it was not you that was the problem" Loki widened his eyes, looking right at his brother. Thor replied softly "It is me. I am too stubborn" Loki was confused, startled by this idea "They found out about you. They found out about what our father did. They must have figured out that you and I are traitors to the cosmos. I-I-I lead you to them" Thor's eyes were evidently ashamed and his tone was in despair. Thor sniffed, murmuring "Brother. I am the one who endangered our family. You were the one who was right. There is another way. We do not need a war. At all"

Loki looked hopeful but sad "You really have changed, brother"
Thor nodded, beaming as if he was relieved "Yes. I've changed. I'll prove it"
Loki nodded "Excellent! We'll go home!"
Thor shook his head "No, no! You can't go home!"
Loki widened his eyes "W-What?"
Thor insisted "The minute they see you, they'll kill you. Did you not hear me? They think of you as a traitor"
Loki replied "But I have no issue with them. Abandonment or not, I made my peace"
Thor shook his head "You know that. I know that. But they do not. They will kill you anyway"
Loki looked down, fearful "Y-You really think so? C-Can I not just join into battle?"
Thor replied softly "You are brave, brother, but I cannot let you do that. Not when this is my responsibility"
Loki replied softly "W-What if you die?!"
Thor replied firmly "That is my curse to bear with. Just know that I did it to protect you"

Loki widened his eyes before tearing up "S-So you enter and I stay here?" Thor nodded and Loki pondered long and hard before replying "P-Perhaps you are right. Perhaps this is best" Loki asked "What about after? What if you live?"

Thor answered "It would be best you stay here perminantly. To protect yourself. I will make sure I visit you. Every week" Thor hugged Loki who was still grieving. He gained his brother but now he was losing his home and life. But maybe this was better. This was what he wanted. This was what Asgard needed, right? Thor replied gently "I promise. It will be fixed. I am so sorry for everything"

Loki teared up "Brother. I am the one who should be sorry. For causing all of this"
Thor shook his head "It will be alright. I will take care of it"
Loki hugged Thor "P-Promise you will let me at least see Mother and Father again, one day?"
Thor nodded insistently "I promise"
Loki sighed "Alright. Let me get you out of here first"

Thor nodded and Loki did it all. He forced his emotions aside, as a rightful family member should. He managed to get Thor off quickly and after a loud shout to Heimdall. Thor was ready to go. Thor turned to Jane, offering her the journal and winked to her "I told you I would get it back, did I not?" Thor then kissed Jane's hand, smiling warmly "I will return for you too" Jane blushed and giggled, nodding in relief. Thor smiled to Darcy and Selvig "Selvig. Darcy. My friends. Farewell" Thor then smiled softly to Loki, pulling his brother close "Stay close with them. They will teach you everything they have taught me" Loki nodded while Thor disappeared to Asgard. Much to everyone's, minus Loki, shock.

Darcy screamed "What the fuck was that?"
Loki answered "The bifrost"
Jane looked softly to Loki "Loki, honey, are you okay?"
Selvig asked gently "Aren't you going to go with him?"
Loki shook his head "No. In order to restore peace, Thor and I agreed it was best I stay here"
Darcy softened her gaze "But you wanna go home, don't you?"
Loki sighed "It matters not what I want. What matters is what Asgard needs"

Jane replied gently "B-But why not both?" Jane looked at her journal "According to my research, the balance in certain places doesn't require someone to be in another area. Things can always change" Jane turned to Loki who sat on the ground in despair. Jane replied, softly "Loki, you don't need to stay here"

Loki replied "But if I do not, the Jotuns will kill me. Kill my family"
Darcy replied firmly "How do you know that? You and Thor are like super strong"
Jane agreed "Yeah, Thor went through our men like nothing. And you got in faster than he did!"
Selvig nodded "Loki, if you are Loki, you have the power to turn stone into men. You can find a way"

Loki got up, pondering "I-I do not know" Loki sighed "I am such a coward. I should have protested more" Loki teared up, sniffing "I should have said no. I should fight alongside him. Instead---" Loki widened his eyes, recalling his father's advice "Instead I enabled Thor" Loki widened his eyes in unquestioned horror "That was what Father warned me about. That I am too selfless. For my own good" Loki pondered "W-Wait, I can stay on Earth, but I can also be on Asgard"

Darcy asked "How?"
Loki beamed "My magic. In three days. It will return"
Jane widened her eyes "You're willing to stay here for that long?"
Loki replied "Yes. Once I gain my power, I can use it for my brother. And my people"
Jane hummed softly "Doesn't really explain the how part"
Loki explained more "I can make versions of myself. I'll make a portal for a duplicate to stay here to fool the Jotuns"
Darcy asked "Wait, if you think they'll know you're here, wouldn't they know if you lied?"

Loki chuckled "Oh Darcy, a very typical question" Loki showed his hands "Imagine a line. Once you split it in two, it'll still be the same type of line. While also being different" Loki replied "Jotuns are brutish by nature. Very few learn magic and even fewer master it. They won't be able to tell" Loki smiled "It's foolproof"

Jane hummed "What will your duplicate do?"
Darcy scoffed "I still say you can just go, kick ass and be done with it"
Loki ignored Darcy "He will distract the Jotuns long enough to help Thor take them down if he has no choice but to fight"
Jane hummed "So you still think there's a chance to fight? Even though Thor said he'd take care of it?"
Loki sighed "I'm just being cautious. I want to help my brother. Even if it's for nothing"
Jane replied "Loki, you're being really considerate. But I just feel like you're not trusting yourself"
Darcy hummed "Yeah, it seems like you're trying to get everything you want"

Loki looked down, sneering at the girls "What do you know? You both are simply mortal. You cannot possibly understand what I am trying to do" Loki saw how shocked the girls were before he confessed "I just... want to make it right"

Selvig replied gently "Loki. If you really want to set it right, you need to let it go. You need to face whatever fears you're having and not avoid them" Loki widened his eyes as Selvig encouraged "Let go of everyone's approval. What you did now, to us, you need to do that with the Jotuns" Selvig replied "You want to stay for three days, fine. But you can't have your cake and eat too. You either risk letting thor handle it, or you risk going. Either way, you're not going to get everything you want" Selvig cocked his head "Think about it. But right now, let's get home"

Loki watched as Darcy, Selvig and Jane drove him. He processed Selvig's words. They were very similar to Odin's. He realized that Selvig had a blunt, but true, point. He had to let go. Yet he was scared to. Ah, but that was Selvig's point. He was afraid. And he was more of a coward then he realized. Loki needed three days to decide. Use his magic to avoid or use it to confront. Either way, someone was going to lose. He had to make a decision. One thing was for sure, Thor was right. These people would give him clarity. They would teach him things. They already taught him so much in such short time. He only hoped they would teach him more.

Three days later

It was quieter. It was less grandiose. It was messy. It was weird. But Loki liked it all. He befriended Darcy, Jane and Selvig very quickly. His original reaction to Darcy was she was a crass, annoying woman but once he got to know her, they instantly became best friends. Darcy constantly took pictures with him, defended him when people mocked him, showed him casual things like TV and the internet along with take him to a party. The same process was with Jane. At first Loki didn't really know what to make of the overly curious scientist, but he became best friends with her too. Jane taught him knowledge of her world as well as psychological knowledge that made him a better person. From her research through her notebook, to exploring New Mexico, to giving him insight into how one could be strong without physical strength. She was brave as Thor and didn't even use any physicality to her strategy. He had realized, quickly, how insecure he really was. How afraid he was. Jane, Darcy, even Selvig, showed that by simply being themselves. They befriended him and gave him perspectives on mortal life. They gave him perspective on how everyone mattered. How community mattered. How it was okay to be yourself, in spite of what someone would say.

It made him consider the decision to go home as opposed to stay. Maybe it was a risk. But considering how willing Jane, Darcy and Selvig were willing to risk it all for their belief in a scientific theory. He could be willing to risk it all to save lives, maybe even his own family. He needed to face his fears. Every single one. It was like Thor said, if he really cared about his country, he would sacrifice everything. And he realized all of this one night at dinner. Jane ate thoughtfully "You know. This just hit me. You and Thor are really two sides of the same coin" This made Selvig and Darcy hum in agreement

Loki chuckled "How so?"
Jane replied "You both like to blame. Only Thor blames someone, you blame yourself"
Darcy commented "You both hate being alone. You both love your parents"
Selvig added "Yet you try constantly to appease others by obedience while Thor risks everything to gain approval"
Darcy added "Oh, you're both really cute. Seriously. I should make you guys a dating app"
Jane muttered "Thor's a little cuter"
Darcy gasped "Loki's got the perfect eyes!"
Selvig rolled his eyes "Guys, I thought this was a serious conversation"
Darcy added "It is! Loki's cute!"
Loki blushed brightly "You're very sweet Darcy"
Darcy smiled "See, I am once you get to know me"

Loki softened his gaze, confessing softly "I am sorry about what I said when we met. That you were nothing more than crass" Darcy waved it off but Loki replied "No. I should take responsibility for my actions. I can only promise to do better, as your friend" Darcy beamed, nodding forgiveness. Loki sighed "You three have really changed me. For the first time in my life. I finally understand what my parents meant by unconditional love" Loki turned to his friends with a wiser smile "You made me remember that Thor is not the only person in my life. I have you three. And my friends. And my parents. I was so focused on my brother that I forgot that I could still live a life. Or do things without him. I--I am.. what is that word you said Jane?"

Jane added "Co-dependent?"
Loki nodded "Exactly. I have become co-dependent"
Selvig shrugged, teasing "I guess you wouldn't be the only one. I love these girls. I should be independent"
Jane softened her gaze "But then you'd miss us, Erik"
Selvig sighed, smiling warmly "That I would, Jane"
Darcy chuckled "Even if she constantly gets you into trouble?"
Jane added teasingly "Or when I ruin your experiments?"
Selvig chuckled again "Jane. You're my prized pupil. Nothing changes that"
Loki chuckled "Jane is brilliant. It amazes me"
Selvig chuckled "Well, it's amazing what you can do if you put your mind to it"

This was what gave Loki courage. This was reminded him of the day of his adoption. The last thing his father said before odinsleep. It matters not where you're born, only what you do afterwards Odin was right. His adoption didn't, or shouldn't, matter. Loki didn't need Thor or anyone else to tell him who he was. Loki had to decide for himself. He needed to stop relying on others on self-assurance. He needed to accept himself. He needed to accept what he could offer. He needed to be confident and independent. In spite of what others expected. Loki looked down, murmuring "I-I was adopted" This caused the three mortals to widen their eyes "My mother. My father. They accepted me and it was not enough. I realize now that it was because I did not accept myself" Loki looked up to Selvig "Y-You remind me of my father. Stern but unquestionably kind" Selvig smiled softly, flattered as Loki continued "Jane. You once told me that you kept spreading your knowledge not to gain attention in the present but to give ideas for the future" Loki smiled, proud and hopeful "I want to do that too" Loki sighed, standing up "In a few hours, if the timing is right, I will become a god again" He looked to his friends, a firm, brave, determined look in his eyes "I will clean up the mess I made. I am going home"

Darcy sighed, looking down "I'm so glad.. but, it'll really suck"
Loki widened his eyes "Why is that, dear Darcy?"
Darcy looked sad "Because you're like, my buddy now"

Loki chuckled sadly, grabbing Darcy for a hug "This is not a permanent goodbye. Thor and I will return. That I can promise you. And I always keep my word" Darcy and Jane raced to Loki, hugging him tightly. Loki looked to see Selvig nod in approval. It was a hell of a journey for him and the three mortals. Selvig thought he was crazy but after the incident with the bifrost, Selvig believed Loki was who he said he was. And Selvig accepted him for it. Jane had given him the wisdom to understand what confidence and skill could really do. Darcy gave him the courage and drive to stay true to himself. Loki knew he had to come back for his friends afterwards. They were his family too in a way.

Suddenly, without warning, loud booms came across the town. Fire blew up and women screamed loudly. Loki, Darcy, Jane and Selvig went to the town. Wondering, and worrying, what was happening. To Loki's horror, the destroyer Odin made years ago was destroying the city. Loki looked around, realizing that whoever sent the destroyer was determined to ruin everything in it's path. Loki's courage finally came into play, turning to Darcy "Darcy. You, Jane and Selvig get as many people out. What is important right now is that everyone gets to safety" Darcy and Jane stuttered protests which made Loki firmly reply "Do not argue with me! Go! Now!" Selvig encouraged the girls as the three went to help civilians. Loki raced to the direction of the destroyer, too concerned about others to worry about himself. He threw rocks at the destroyer, waving his arms "Hey! Hey! Over here! Come and get me!" Loki then bolted as the destroyer followed him. Loki replied worriedly "The Frost Giants, they may have taken this over! Or maybe they're forcing Thor to control it or..." A blast hit near him which caused Loki to collide into someone. Loki looked down, realizing it was Fandral "Fandral?!"

Fandral widened his eyes, looking up "Guys! I found him!"
Sif's voice shouted out "Quickly! We need to return back soon!"
Hogun aimed some arrows at the destroyer "Damn, our weapons do nothing!"
Volstagg looked terrified "I did not eat enough before I came here. Now I'll never have my last roasted hog!"

Loki pulled Fandral up and the two had a quick hug. Loki heard Fandral encourage him to flee just as the destroyer came for them again. Loki raced with Fandral, just as people were screaming and cops were panicking. Loki asking worriedly "Fandral, what happened? How did the Frost Giants get to Father's vault? They did not kill Thor, did they?!" Loki allowed Fandral to pull him and the two hid. Loki pulled on Fandral, replying determinedly "Tell me where he is. I can rescue him! I can fix all of this! He does not need to be afraid! I want to help him! I know he wants to protect me but I can help him. We can--"

"It's not the Frost Giants! It's Thor!" Loki was stunned by Fandral's news and it only got worse. Fandral said, with evident despair "He's controlling the destroyer, Loki!" Fandral yelled out, panic and sadness in his voice. Loki felt his heart freeze and his entire body tremble in shock. Loki was silent as Fandral explained "Thor took over everything. H-He forced your mother to give him his godhood and power back. She said she could only give him his godhood and strength but not his power. Thor seemed fine with it at first but then the second he became a god, he went after the Jotuns. He killed their king and now plans to destroy Jotunheim. And force Asgard into a new order" Fandral's voice then whispered out in shame and panic "H-He came here t-to kill you"

Loki was horrified, and betrayed, as Fandral basically told him his brother didn't change at all. If anything, he got worse. Not only did he not change, he was hellbent on killing anything that stood in his way. Loki felt coldness into his soul as he knew that he had to do the one thing he did not want to do. That he was going to take the throne. That he needed to be king. That needed to stop his brother and defeat him. The things he feared most were coming true. Fandral looked deeply into Loki's eyes, scared "Loki. Asgard is doomed"

Loki's fear, betrayal and horror transformed into the same courage, determination and confidence he had previously. But it was not for his brother. It was for himself. Something within his heart snapped. Loki could beg, sacrifice and do anything for Thor. But it would not change Thor. Thor had to change Thor and he wouldn't do that. So Loki had to change himself. And he would. For the hope, glory and safety of Asgard. In order to help his family, he had to take down the threat. Even if that was family too. Loki firmly replied "No. It is not" He slowly rose, replying "You forgot about me" Loki looked firmly to Fandral "My brother may want to kill me. But what he wants is not what Asgard needs. Get Sif, Hogun and Volstagg to help protect the people" Loki pointed to Selvig "You see that man?" Fandral nodded "That is Dr. Selvig. He is a friend of mine. He will help you. I will distract the destroyer. Now go!" Fandral hesitated but Loki shoved him, screaming "GO!" Loki tried to blast at the destroyer but sighed as his magic still didn't work. He was beyond angry but instead of using it for selfish purposes, he was going to use his anger to guide him to victory. He realized he needed to rely on his wit. Just as Heimdall warned. Loki pondered long and hard before deciding on a plan. He whistled for the destroyer, shouting "THOR! I'M HERE! LOOK AT ME!"

The destroyer stopped, looking right at Loki. Loki shouted, tears evident in his eyes "Thor, listen to me. I know you feel betrayed. I know you feel anger. I know I caused you such pain. And for that I am sorry" Loki's tears streamed but his voice was determined and brave "But you are hurting innocent people. You are attacking a realm that should not be involved" Loki opened his arms, replying boldly "If you must attack someone, attack me" Loki declared, a hint of bitterness in his voice "That was what you wanted to do all along, right?" The destroyer hesitated for a brief moment before grabbing Loki's throat. As the object squeezed his throat tightly, Loki felt unable to breathe. He heard Fandral, Darcy, Sif and Hogun all scream in panic. Volstagg tried to step in only to get hit across the face, knocking him out. Loki gasped out "I-I do not care what you do to me. It will never change the fact that you are not what a king should be. If you must kill me to satisfy your anger, so be it" The grip only tightened, not loosened. Loki gasped out "L-Let it go, Thor. Let go of your fear. For your own sake. I beg you" Then, with a unquestioned boldness, the destroyer threw Loki harshly on the ground. This caused Loki to pass out. Blissfully unaware of Jane, Darcy and Sif's screaming for his name.

The first thing he saw was a green light. His signature magic. It pulsated and beckoned him. He heard the thunder crash. The sound of Thor's power. The green magic allowed itself to combine with white light, transforming into a beautiful melody of yin-and-yang. A image of a hammer was the next thing he saw, combined with his own hands taking it. He felt powerful. He felt alive. He felt godly. He saw the green light turn itself into a green window as the world around him was in a green hue. Everyone was watching with admiration, respect and enjoyment. But Loki's gaze went to the hammer and he heard himself hum softly. Instantly, the hammer became a spear which retracted into the size of a dagger. Loki's gaze heard the sound of anguished metal crying as the destroyer was staring right at him. Just as he saw the destroyer race to him, Loki's instant thought was to use this delicious power. To attack. To destroy back. That was what happened when you were living on pure adrenaline. He used the dagger right to the destroyer's heart, thunder and magic destroying it in seconds. Darcy's voice went "FUCK YEAH LOKI!" Which only fueled the god's bloodlust. The destroyer quickly dissipated. Just as Loki's vision became normal again. He stiffened but realized it was Darcy who was hugging him. Darcy sobbed "I'm so proud of you! Oh my god!"

Loki looked over "Darcy?"
Darcy sobbed "I thought you were dead!"
Loki looked worried "Are you alright?"
Jane raced over "Loki! Y-You were awesome!"
Selvig beamed proudly "Told you it's amazing what you can set your mind to, didn't I?"
Loki beamed to Selvig "Selvig. You are wiser than the gods"

Sif grabbed Loki in for a hug, as did the Warriors Three, but then the sounds of angry cries echoed the entire skies. Loki looked up and saw the sky look slightly red. Thor was not the god of thunder anymore. No. He was the god of wrath, now. And Loki had no choice but to fix it quickly. Loki looked sadly to his earthling allies and replied firmly "I must go. Thor will not stop. Not until he destroys everything" Loki used his magic to deliver papers to Jane, replying "If SHEILD asks, give them this. Along with this to get your things back, as I promised" Jane took it, looking confused and scared. Loki looked to the girls and Selvig, replying gently "I need to go. But I will come back. And I will make sure we finish our dinner" Darcy smiled while Jane tearfully laughed. Selvig sighed, pulling Loki in for a hug. Sif, Fandral, Hogun and Volstagg nervously but hopefully stared at Loki. Loki turned to his asgardian allies, replying "Stay with them. Protect the Earth. In case" Loki sighed, looking up "I will deal with him"

Sif replied anxiously "Loki. Please. You do not have to do this alone"
Loki looked firmly to Sif "Trust me. The last thing I want is for someone to suffer his wrath like I did"
Fandral sighed "You come back alive, damnit"
Loki smiled, winking "That was always the plan"

Loki used his magic to immediately find a secret portal. He did in the form of a hair salon. Despite the odd circumstance, he entered it with little to no trouble. He found his mother, brother and a nervous guard protecting a small Jotun child. The child was crying and Loki was horrified to see two dead bodies. Along with trapped Jotuns, panicking. Loki saw his mother pull Thor's arm from killing but felt his own type of rage as Thor shoved Frigga to the ground. Thor shouted "Stand aside, Mother! I will do whatever it takes to protect Asgard! Even if it means going against you or other Asgardians!" Thor raised a sword up and was stunned to see Loki grab his hand and throw him down. Loki stood protectively over the guard and child. Thor widened his eyes before snarling "You"

"Loki!" Frigga raced over, hugging Loki who stared at Thor even as he affectionately held Frigga "I knew you would return to us!" Frigga looked to see her younger son act braver than he ever did. And saw her eldest stare hatefully, more hatefully than he had in years.

Loki sneered, firmly replying "Tell her, Thor. Tell her of your treason. Of how you went to activate the destroyer to kill your friends and me" Frigga looked away, shocked but absolutely saddened. Thor was silent as he rose slowly. Thor looked somewhat regretful but the hate was still there. Loki demanded "Give your mother the damn courtesy of explaining why you did what you did! Forget me! Explain to HER why you did this!"

Thor looked to Frigga, sadness evident in his tone "I just wanted to protect everyone"
Loki replied mockingly "Oh yes. Protect everyone by murdering anyone who stands in your way"
Thor looked nastily "If you had to perish, that is as it must be. Frigga still has me as her son"
Loki retorted firmly "You forget that she can have both sons. Without bloodshed"
Thor asked nastily "What made you so wise?"
Loki shrugged "I had fun on Earth. They showed me another side to life"
Thor chuckled mockingly "You're a talented liar, brother, always have been"

Loki retorted, sadly but firmly "I am ashamed of you. Ashamed of your behavior" Loki offered his dagger with a strict but loving expression "But you can change. Even now. This does not need to be. For once, in your life, do not kill" Thor hesitated immensely, staring hatefully at the Frost Giants. Loki snarled "Stop looking at my people that way!" Thor widened his eyes, shocked by Loki's words. Loki replied firmly "I am a Jotun. And a Odinson. This kingdom's people and these innocent Giants can co-exist. Just as you and I co-existed. I will not let you destroy what our Father worked so hard for" Loki offered the dagger again, repeating "You can change. But you need to do so now" Loki replied coldly "Or I will defeat you"

Thor snarled, angry and disgusted "Defeat me? You will defeat ME!?" Thor slammed his elbow right into Loki's face. He tried to steal the dagger but sighed "My own brother. Taking my power" Thor looked hatefully to Loki "You took everything from me" Thor replied, evident betrayal "Just like I feared you would" Thor stared at a saddened, but firm Loki. Thor grabbed Loki's throat, snarling "You took my power. It's only fair I take your birth land" Thor threw Loki to the ground and used his remaining powers to run fast. Asgardians were naturally fast runners, it fit with their natural strength. Thor was always the most athletic, with or without power. Loki knew this was going to be hard. But he knew he had to do it. His own mother was endangered by Thor. If he hadn't come sooner, Thor might've killed her too. He couldn't allow any people to die. At least not any more people to die.

Loki cried out "Mother! Release any prisoners and bring them to the throne room. I will send them home once this is over" Frigga nodded, encouraging the remaining Frost Giants away. Loki grabbed the dagger and allowed it to turn into a spear. He quickly used it to fly faster, trying desperately to catch his brother quickly. To his despair, he saw Thor use his own father's spear to slowly destroy Jotunheim with the assistance of the bifrost. To his relief, Heimdall was alive but trapped thanks to the Casket's freezing power. Which Thor used to freeze the spear also. Loki snapped "BROTHER! Stop!"

Thor snapped "It cannot be stopped! The bifrost will rip Jotunheim apart!"
Loki begged "Why?! Why are you doing this?!"

Thor answered "To prove to our parents that I am the worthy son! Once Odin awakens, I will have stopped the war! I will have destroyed every single enemy, including you!" Thor snarled, pushing his chest out "I will get my power back and I will be the true heir!"

Loki snapped "You're killing an entire race!"
Thor retorted "Of course I am!"
Loki replied "They are my people. Without them, I wouldn't exist"
Thor retorted again "Yet without our father you would not live"
Loki nodded "I forgave them, Thor. Just like I can forgive you"

Thor laughed aloud "Forgive me?" Thor laughed again "Forgive me? Like this is my fault? And not the monsters who forced my hand?!" Loki sighed, looking disgusted and saddened. Thor scoffed "You're so much better, right? You once told me you wished you were never a Jotun. Now you're more than happy to declare them your people" Loki looked firmly and bravely at him. This made Thor scoff again "My goodness, no apologies? You're so confident. You're so brave. So different from a few days ago. You were more than happy to not fight"

Loki looked up "I've changed"
Thor chuckled "So have I"
Loki retorted "Well, clearly not enough"

Thor chuckled again "Is that right?" Then without warning, Thor slapped Loki hard with a hard baton. Loki realized it was a sparring baton, back when they trained as teenagers. Loki felt heartbreak as he realized it was Thor's special, favorite baton that he had kept during his warrior graduation. A sentimental piece, made into a murderous weapon. Thor snarled "Fight me then. Coward" Thor slammed into his face again and Loki shrieked as he felt a sharp blade. Realizing Thor also had a sword. Thor laughed "See! I have my own tricks too! I guess I should thank you!" Loki stood up as Thor moved around, waiting for him "I should also be grateful. It was about time you grew a spine"

Loki shouted "I will not kill you, brother!"
Thor snarled "I'm not your brother. I never was"
Loki shouted "Thor! This is madness! You are surrendering to nothing more than pure hatred! You are spiraling out of control!"

Thor widened his eyes, tears evident as he asked "Is this madness? Is it really?" Thor asked again "IS IT?!" Thor shoved Loki down on the ground "How come you talk with such power?! Where do you get off on being so brave?" Thor grabbed Loki, snarling angrily and tears streaming down "What happened to you? What turned you into this so-called king? What happened on Earth that made you think you could win? Who made you believe you could be king? Was it Darcy?" Loki didn't answer, just shoving Thor away with a calm, courageous frown. Thor laughed sadly, tears of rage and insanity evident in his eyes "I knew it! It was her! She was always so damn stupid!" Loki breathed heavily as his best friend was insulted, snarling himself. Thor laughed insanely as anger was evident in his tone "Wow, you care for her! Well maybe, when we're done here, I'll visit her like I promised!" Thor looked hatefully as he stated "Maybe even show her who the real God is!"

Loki shouted loudly "YOU WILL NOT TOUCH HER!" Loki then charged into Thor and the two sparred. This time Loki was his equal in power. For the first time ever, it was a huge stalemate. It lasted a long time before the two collided. Thor with his sword and Loki with his spear. Finally, as the two charged a final time, Loki forced his spear to attack Thor but Thor slammed into him. Loki grabbed onto Thor, seeing the man above him "Thor, the burden of the throne has fallen to me" Loki looked saddened "I will do what I must"

Thor chuckled, aiming his sword "You're right. You will. But not without a fight" Thor then tried to stab him but Loki got out of the way. This caused the sword to messily slice down his abdomen. Then he made a slash on the right side of his face. This made Loki scream in agony and slam his spear, causing lightning to strike. Thor cried out in unquestioned pain, holding his eyes "MY EYES! AH! MY EYES!" Loki widened his eyes, absolutely horrified. The lightning struck his brother's face, directly hitting him across the eyes. Blinding him. Loki stammered, instinct forcing him to help his brother and Thor flailed around in a panic "Don't touch me! Don't touch me!" Thor sobbed a little "I can't see! B-Brother!"

Loki pitied Thor, rushing to him "B-Brother, I'm here. Don't cry. I-It will be alright"
Thor sobbed a little "I-I can't see! I'm scared!"
Loki gently pulled Thor "It's going to be okay. I'll protect you"

Suddenly the Bifrost was overwhelmed in power. Loki had no choice. It was either destroy the bridge or cause Jotunheim to perish. And possibly harm Asgard too. Loki murmured gently "Thor, stay here. Don't move. I'm going to fix this. Then I'll get you healed" Loki then used his spear to pierce the bridge. He pierced it many times only to feel someone pounce on him and angrily wrestle him. Loki begged "Thor! Stop! I need to destroy the bridge!"

Thor snarled "Like hell you will!" Thor choked him but Loki stubbornly wrestled him down. Despite the despair in seeing Thor's bloody eyes, he knew he had to stop him. Thor hissed out "If only I can wish how you're looking at me, right now. My brother. The king. All hail Loki Laufeyson!" Loki looked away, hurt by being called his birth father's name. Thor mockingly replied "All your magic. And what good does it do you now, HUH?!"

This gave Loki the idea to use his magic to destroy the bridge faster. He pushed Thor off, putting the dagger on his chest to keep him there and blasted the bridge itself. Loki then quickly grabbed the dagger and pulled his brother "Thor, come on, we need to go!"

Thor snarled "Go to hell!" Thor shoved onto Loki and the two wrestled down to the part where the abyss lay. Loki panicked, trying desperately to push Thor away but instead it caused Thor to fall and Loki to accidentally join him. Loki realized he might die but then, suddenly, he saw his father. Odin, awake, and desperately holding onto one of Loki's hands. Odin held the dagger with his other hand. Thor though was held on by Loki's other hand. Thor looked around "Loki, what's happening?! I'm in the air!"

Loki shouted "Thor, hold on! I got you!"
Thor panicked "Loki, don't let go! Please!"
Loki assured "Never! Never! I will never let you go!"
Odin shouted "My sons! Hang on!"
Thor looked up, despite seeing nothing "F-Father! Father, I know I made mistakes! I am sorry!"
Odin shouted "My son, worry not! Just stay alive!"
Thor begged "I could have done it, Father! I could have done it! I could be king!"
Odin looked down, saddened "Thor, your brother is King, there is nothing to do"

Thor was in despair at those words, saying meekly "W-What?" Then a loud crumble of the bridge caused Loki to slowly lose his grip. Thor asked, in sadness "I-I am not King? Ever?"

Loki replied softly "Brother, that does not matter"
Thor replied "I'm not worthy"
Loki replied firmly "Thor you are! That isn't true!"
Odin replied "Thor, stop, hold your brother's hand! You're slipping!"
Thor replied "He's not my brother. I am not your son"
Loki begged "Thor, hang on! I'm slipping! I won't let you go!"
Thor snarled "Let me go, Loki"
Loki pleaded "Thor, I cannot"
Thor snapped "Let me go!"

Loki held on tight but Thor snarled "Fine. If you won't, let the gods decide my fate" Then, another rude rumble which forced Thor's hand to slip from Loki's. Thor smiled sadly as he felt the weight of space take him away "The gods decided. I am not worthy"

Loki shouted "Thor, no!" Thor instantly fell without another word, causing Loki to scream loudly and in despair "THOR!" Thor fell to the space below and Loki felt numb. He felt sadness overwhelm him as he screamed painfully into the void. Even as his father comforted him. Nothing could comfort him now. His brother was dead. He was alone. The sole heir to the Odinson family. Even if people accepted it, it didn't matter. Loki would never accept it. He was not meant to be King. But he needed to be. Because Thor wasn't.

Many, many days later

The coronation was simple. The announcement was simple. He had Jotuns and Asgardians peacefully in the same room. For the first time in thousands of years. Loki was officially king and everyone accepted it. Even loved him. They became his friend quite quickly. They didn't care of his adoption. Because Loki didn't care. All he cared about was his loss and the fact the realms were unable to be reached until a certain time. But soon, he would visit Darcy. Soon he would explain to Jane why Thor didn't return. Soon he would thank Selvig. Soon he would get Sif, Volstagg, Hogun and Fandral back.

But until then, he had to mourn. He wept. Daily. He focused on his work when he wasn't crying. He was helping his ailing father and grieving mother when he wasn't crying. He was using his magic and power to make the bifrost complete when he wasn't crying. Thor was constantly throughout it all. Smiling, laughing and even crying with him. Loki Odinson. The only Odinson. Alone in this kingdom.

Or so he thought. Little did he know that he would get his brother back. But in a whole new way. And a whole new way, meant a whole new journey. As the sobbing king was comforted by his mother, his brother was beside a young african-american boy. The boy looked to Thor, asking "Hey, what are you going to call yourself in this Dark Avengers team?"

Thor smiled mockingly "Daredevil"

these are great. although i might tweak things for thor 2's app. like i was thinking of him getting nabbed by the collector early. and get blinded there while fighting. and collector had some magic mumbo jumbo to heighten his other senses to make up for his sight. and only back on earth does he go by the name daredevil and join the dark avengers. like i planned on the chituari invaded by themselves. or they got another puppet since loki's good and thor's out of the way. ooh maybe they get clint earlier. and when clint breaks free it's hydra who helps him not shield getting him to join the dark avengers.

like thor could be gone for a few months or more at the collector's place and it might be a few weeks in asgard/earth time.

Oh, this just explained how Thor got blind. He can still be taken by the collector, I made it clear how Thor ended on Earth again being entirely up to interpretation. But honestly, you can do what you need to do to make sense for your Thor II so do what you gotta do lol.

This is not the end of my storytelling for King Loki. If anything it's only getting started lmao

maybe i'll do something like he was temporary blinded. and the collector was able to heal him so he could see a little. then further injuries made him completely blind. giving him false hope he might see again then have it taken away.

That's more than fine! Loki's accident the collector fixed, only for Thor to be blind again but thankfully he gets super-human abilities that help him with that(or at least earn senses that are like seeing)
