A Little Time To Ourselves (Critic)

[Nostalgia Chick]

(ooc: March 9th. Evening. Critic/Chick date thread.)

Nostalgia Chick was nervous. She'd gotten help from Elisa, Nella, Carly, and others for this date. It was their first real date. They'd hung out when they could the past couple months but their last "date" had been years ago. They'd spend the date eating Cheerios 2 and making small talk. It had been a very awkward date and been a fan suggestion. And Nella had pushed her into it. Nella was right but it just wasn't the right timing back then. Now was the right time. She was dressed in a black sleeveless dress as she walked out to the living room waiting for Critic to join her. She was nervous but hopefully, this would go smoothly. All Critic had told her was to dress up but where they were going was a complete mystery to her.

Critic wanted this to be extra special, mostly because despite the love going on between him and Chick, they never actually had a proper date. Thanks to Elisa, Nella, Dr. Carly Tease and a few of his personal friends, Critic successfully had a time all to himself with Chick. It was something he never thought he would get the chance to do because of the war but now that he had, he wouldn't have it any other way. Since chick was dressed up, so was he as seen with instead of his usual red tie he had a black bowtie with a black tux and suit. He had no hat on which was the only admittedly uncomfortable thing for him, a very long time he was around with a hat. He pushed himself though because he wanted everything to go right.

He walked to the living room to see Chick herself in a nice sleeveless black dress, his heart began to pound in the most merciless way possible. His face flushed with admiration before he pulled himself together to show the most amount of confidence he had. He smiled softly and responded "You look gorgeous... Then again you always do but... Still. Wow" He shook his head "Are you ready?"

Chick grinned as Critic walked in. He looked more handsome than ever all dressed up like this. She heard his compliment an grinned.

"Thank you. You look handsome yourself." said Chick.

She nodded when he asked if she was ready. She was curious to where they were going but Critic hadn't told her. If any of the others knew they weren't telling her so it would stay a surprise.

"You said it was a surprise. Can I get a hint to where we're going?" said Chick.

"Really?" Critic said shocked before blushing "Oh I mean, thanks. I tried my best" Critic blushed harder "Sorry I'm not speaking right. Let's just get going" Critic was nervous and wanted this to be good and he felt he was blowing it already. He then listened to chick asked that could she get a hint to his surprise place. Critic smiled and replied "It's someplace fancy and it's someplace exotic. That's your hint. Go ahead and guess"

(OCC: Do you want me to send them someplace in Chicago or can we send them to transport someplace really fancy? Like france or something? XD)

Chick grinned as he blushed. He looked really cute when he did that.

"You're speaking just fine. It's ok. We're both nervous." said Chick.

She smiled getting a hit it was fancy and exotic. She chuckled as he said she could guess.

"Well, that doesn't really narrow it down much. I guess I'll just have to wait until we get there." said Chick.

(ooc: Sure. not sure where they could go for the date. somewhere in town or out of town. I'm up for anything.)

"Well I'm glad that I'm doing ok so far. I want this to be nice" Critic said sincerely, a smile coming across his features in admiration of Chick's patience with him. He was growing more confident because of it, true his pride was always something critic liked to consider but when it came to dates, confidence was not a very important thing he wanted or a thing that was easily given to him.

"Yep. You'll wait and see. Oh but you need to close your eyes too by the way" Critic said, starting to grow back to his teasing self again. He planned it out with Linksano and a couple of colleagues in the army to help him out with this. He had a teleporter in his back pocket, away from chick's sight, and was planning to take her someplace in france. Most likely paris. He responded "Trust me. You'll love how fancy and romantic it is. It's not cheesy romantic but it's nice overall"

Chick grinned.

"As long as it's not Cheerios 2 I'll be fine." said Chick, teasing him about their first failed date.

She hadn't really minded the cereal. The date had just been so awkward and had been more like a dare from a fan in a way. She paused remembering the Christmas tree toy he had. He probably sold it or threw it away. Or it was buried in a closet somewhere. She grinned focusing back on the conversation. Chick pouted as he said she had to close her eyes on the way there. She nodded closing her eyes reluctantly.

"Alright. Let's get going. I admit I'm curious to where we are going." said Chick.

"It's not don't worry" Critic chuckled, amused with Chick's teasing of their first date, which went as horribly as both assumed. He then smiled as she closed her eyes, and he quickly grabbed the teleporter and responded "Oh don't worry. You'll get answers soon!" He clicked the transporter and the both quickly were teleported right onto france. Just beside the effel tower. Even though previously he was indifferent to france, he did his homework and found the place to be extremely romantic. So, why not? He then helped chick turn around and giggled slightly "OK. You can open your eyes now!"

He hoped this plan would work. He hoped she would like it. If she didn't, he would always use the transporter to go someplace different, but Critic would've liked it much better if she just enjoyed it. But beggers couldn't be choosers and it was chick's choose in a way too.

Chick felt them being teleported as she told her to open her eyes. When she did she smiled looking around with a grin.

"You took me to Paris? That's kinda cool. So we taking a tour? Or we going somewhere in particular?" asked Chick.

Chick paused looking at the Eiffel Tower and grinned. She paused looking around not seeing signs of anyone and relaxed.

"It's a good thing no one's around. Don't want to blow our cover or have people think we're aliens or something." said Chick.

"Surprise!" Critic said first as Chick was clearly, and pleasantly, surprised. Critic beamed as she looked around. He was glad he was making her pleased. Critic responded "Yep. I thought you'd like someplace far more romantic" When asked if they were going to a tour or something, Critic responded "Yep. A tour first, then we're going to a fancy dinner and then maybe we can go the the top of the eiffel tower. That part is up to you"

He then looked about as Chick did but smiled as nobody was around. He softly chuckled "Yeah good thing. Sorry. I didn't think that through. I guess I was focused on the secret of, you know, being in france for our date" He then responded "Well let's get going to the tour. We don't want to miss out on some fun!"

Chick grinned as Critic shouted surprise as she looked around.

"This is a wonderful surprise." said Chick

She nodded.

"Well one of the most romantic cities in the world is definitely a good place for a date." said Chick.

Chick grinned as he agreed to a tour then a dinner. Then maybe go up to the top of the eiffel tower.

"That all sounds wonderful Just as long as don't stand too close to the edge. I'm not really afraid of heights but being up that high I'd rather not look down just in case." said Chick.

She chuckled as Critic hadn't thought of it.

"You didn't think of that? What if we teleported into a crowded part of Paris? Even if people didn't think we were aliens the French government could have come after us. To get this teleporting technology. Heck I think every country in the world would be after this. We better plan out each trip next time or not use this outside of the war. Because we do not need that kind of publicity." said Chick.

She nodded as he agreed to start the tour.

"I doubt any tour groups are this late so I guess we explore ourselves. Maybe we should find a map or something so we don't get lost." said Chick.

"Really?... Er I mean, yeah! Of course it is! Awesome!" Critic stated when Chick commented about the surprise. Critic was secretly praising the lord but he tried to appear more confident... more like his old self, well the positive side to his old self. Not the arrogant side but the more assertive side. He was a bit more stressed but didn't want Chick to know that.

"Great, I mean yeah, I knew that" Critic said, still trying to appear confident. He smiled though, sincerely glad that Chick was pleased. Maybe he loved her enough to genuinely want to make her feel happy, that's a side to him that not many got out of him but Chick succeeded in this regard. He then nodded at not being on the edge of the effel tower "Noted. Yeah, we'll try not to find a place close to the edge. Looking down gives me the creeps too"

He then blushed as Chick pointed out all the flaws of not being careful around france. He gulped and nervously responded, "Right! Got that! No publicity, right!" He now was beating himself up for not being so careful. And yet he was the leader. Stupid, he thought, so stupid. You need to be more careful Critic.

"Yeah. There should be a map somewhere. Wait maybe over here" He then looked over to a nearby building which seemed to have maps on a small box. He then took chick's hand and walked over to that said building.

Chick grinned at him.

"You could have taken me anywhere and I'd be fine with it. But it means a lot you thought this up." said Chick.

Chick could tell Critic was a little nervous so she smiled and gave him a hug.

"You don't have to make this perfect or get too nervous about this. We've seen each other at our best and our worst over the years. I just want to spend time with you." said Chick.

She grinned as Critic agreed not to find a place close to the edge.

"Good. The city would have a nice view. I just don't want an accident to happen." said Chick.

She sighed before smiling again.

"Look I don't mean to give you a hard time. We're just all on edge with what's going on. We just need to be careful." said Chick.

She nodded as Critic spotted a building with maps. He tok her hand and they walked over together to it. She paused looking at it and frowned.

"These are in French. My French is a bit rusty. And I'd rather not get lost here. Do you think there's any in English?" said Chick.

"I'm glad you like it. I really wanted to make you happy" Critic sincerely responded, touched that he made her really happy with this choice. It made him feel good to hear he did something that meant a lot to her. He then relaxed as Chick hugged him, assuring him that he didn't need to make this perfect. What she wanted was him. That being around him was the important part. He smiled "I do too. Sorry. I was just trying to make this great is all"

"Me neither. But we'll find a nice view I promise" Critic replied, glad that Chick was glad and there was no arguing. He felt nice that they haven't fought in a while. He shrugged as Chick apologized for being "too hard" he understood and in fact found this reasonable "Hey it's no problem. We're all on edge like you said. I'm not bothered by it. I'm on edge myself"

"Let me see" Critic said as he searched and then eventually found a pamphlet in English next to one certain map. He took said pamphlet and read it "Bonjour. Welcome to france. For all you lovely tourists here is our best spots. Ok... Let's see" He continued to read it then allowed chick to look at it as well.

Chick grinned at him.

"You certainly have." said Chick.

Chick chuckled as he said he was trying to make it great.

"It's great just by being with you. That's what this trip is about spending time with each other. Sure being in Paris is nice but we could have just done this easily anywhere else and I'd be okay with it. As long as I'm with you and having fun it doesn't matter where we are." said Chick.

Chick grinned.

"Perhaps next time we come during the day when there's more to see. Like for Breakfast or lunch?" said Chick.

Chick grinned as he said it was okay.

"Thank you. I didn't want to ruin our time together with being too tense or upset." said Chick.

Chick grinned as Critic look at a pamphlet as they read it.

"At least it's in English. Glad we didn't have to bring Benzaie or one of the others to translate. You spot anything good to try?" said Chick.
