Happy To Be Free (Open)

[Nani Pelaki]

(ooc: March 9th. Mingling thread. Want to have Nani mingle with more people. So far' she's mostly stuck with Lilo & Morpheus. And to use more other characters I dont use much.)

Nani smiled as she sat down on the couch in the living room. She sipped some lemonade from a bottle in her hand. She had spent most of her time with Morpheus and Lilo since coming back and realized she had done that even before. She wanted to get to know more people in this army. She'd been here nearly over two months and realized she barely knew any of them aside from their names. She wanted to change that.

Nostalgia Chick walked out. She was recovering still and her burns had mostly healed. Thanks to magic like Willie, Gene, and the others her wounds were barely noticeable but they still hurt. She'd moved out of the infirmary into her own bedroom upstairs. She smiled seeing Nani as she grabbed a Dr. Pepper from the fridge and sat down joining her in the living room.

Roses walked out joining the group with a smile. She grabbed a Pepsi from the fridge joining the group. She was glad Chick was up and about now.

"So you guys alright?" asked Roses.

She got a nod from each of them but no one seemed to be in the talking mood at the moment. She took a seat on another chair and sipped from her drink.

Tender Heart walked out next smiling at the three women. He did hate lying to everyone about the kids training but it kept the children busy. And with the right training, he knew they could be good warriors. And then they could protect themselves and their friends a lot better. He grabbed a glass of orange juice from the fridge as he sat down next to Nani and grinned.

[Pepper]

(OCC: Because I missed Pepper XD)

Pepper leaped away from the secret training she was doing with the other kids to take a break, the puppy was hungry already and she told the others she would be back anyway. So she just went to find kanine krunchies, which seemed to be near the fridge and she gently tried to open it. Eventually though she grew annoyed with trying to open it and saw Tenderheart, the supposed leader and guardian of the group and tried to get his attention by pawing at his chair. He seemed to be looking at nani, which was why she made this silent response to get him to pay attention to her.

Angry Joe and Snob were quick to get up and out of the medical bay. Snob was still sore but his injuries were beginning to clear up so he followed Joe to the kitchen and decided to get a apple and a diet pepsi, while Joe simply got a sprite. The two men went over to sit next to each other. Angry Joe was with Roses and Snob decided to sit with Chick and Nani.

Snob turned to Nani and Chick, smiling at the two women before speaking "Nice to see you out and about Chick. Really. I'm glad you're getting better" He turned to Nani and responded "You doing OK nani? Haven't been able to chat with you for a while"

"Heya roses!" Joe interuptted happily, sitting next to her. He really enjoyed her company and never had a problem with rudely entering himself in for her amusement. Joe responded "We've been doing good since we came here. So I guess you can say things are for the better hm?"

Where was Dean? That was the one question on Sam's mind. Where did the elder Winchester brother run off to? Sam didn't have a clue. The young man ran a hand through his thick bangs and released a groan as he did so. It would have helped greatly if he could remember the last place he and Dean stayed at, but no matter what, he couldn't piece together the entire puzzle. Just his luck. He retracted his hand back to his side. Maybe if he knew where Dean was, and maybe if his stupid cell phone would work he'd know his brother's location, he would have stolen a car to find him. Seeing as how he didn't, though, and not to mention he wouldn't want to get into serious trouble with the law, Sam decided against that idea pretty quickly. Instead, he was going to have to take a chance on the hospitality of strangers.

Alright, Sam, which house do you want to try first? the hunter thought to himself, his brows creased into a furrow. The corners of his mouth dropped downwards until his hazel eyes tumbled upon a house. There was something about it that compelled him to check it out. Couldn't hurt, right? Well, it could hurt, especially since Sam didn't have any demon hunting gear with him, but at the moment, Sammy was running out of options. He might as well take the chance of seeing whoever was in there. Right now, anything was better than wandering around outside.

So Mr. Winchester walked up to the house. He raised a clenched fist to the door and knocked on it lightly. Hopefully, someone would be around. Preferably, someone who might be able to help explain to him why he was where he was.

Maleficent watched the intermingling of her allies from a safe distance, her face a mixture of amusement and exasperation. She had only come down here to get something to eat before starting her day. Getting mixed up in their love fest was not on her agenda, particularly when none of the people she considered to be “friends” were present. It was too early in the morning for such things.

Over the many conversations, Maleficent could make out a rapping sound. The dark fairy stood a little straighter and turned around. It had definitely been a knock. Someone was at the door. She spared her allies a glance, but they didn’t seem to have heard anything. She debated making one of them answer it, but ultimately went to the door herself – it would save her having to get involved with them.

The door swung open and Maleficent found herself eye-to-eye with a young human man. She looked him up and down carefully, eventually nodding her approval and choosing to speak.

“Welcome.”

Maleficent had automatically gone to the possibility that the unknown guest was a new recruit. It was a logical conclusion to her mind – after all, Grimhilde had arrived in a similar fashion, as had many others after her. Besides, in all the time she had been here, Maleficent didn’t think she had ever seen Critic have a proper guest before. He seemed to be as unpopular as her.

The dark fairy waited calmly for the human to answer her.

The man's fist returned to his side once more, unclenched as it rested at his side. Was it really a good idea to go around, door to door? Sam was aware of the crazy, unexpected things that could come crawling through the wrong door. It was a fairly slim chance he would walk right up to one of said doors, but there was still a chance that the house in front of him wasn't a decent one. His eyes fell to the ground, contemplating if he should simply walk away or not. There was something about this house that prevented him from leaving, though. Something Sam couldn't quite figure out. It wasn't physically preventing him from going. If he really wanted to, he could have left, but his mental state probably would have suffered for it from wondering why he felt like he needed to go there. Lately, he was having these odd visions and dreams, not to mention weird feelings when he passed by certain areas.

By now, they were impossible to ignore.

The door was flung open, forcing his eyes to lift up from the ground to the creature in front of him. Pale, minty skin, arched brows, an interesting set of horns protruded from her skull, and she had intriguing attire. That wasn't something you saw everyday, even if you were Sam Winchester. The tall male was at a loss for words. He was given a nod of approval and a greeting. Act normal. She hasn't tried killing you yet, so just... tread lightly. It took him a moment or two, but he finally found something to say. "Hi," he started. Just saying hi was a good start, wasn't it? "I'm Sam." No need to go giving out last names. He hardly ever did that before, he wasn't going to start getting into the habit now. "Sorry to bother you, but would you mind if I stepped in for a minute or two? My brother decided to take us on a road trip, and long story short, I'm stuck in Chicago with a broken phone and no car."

He wasn't lying. He just wasn't giving away every little detail about his life. Plus, did he really want to give away his entire life story to someone who honestly looked a bit intimidating? Speaking of the intimidating being, there was something off about her. No matter how hard he tried to remember, Sam just couldn't figure out what she was. There wasn't really anything he could piece together from his dad's journal of supernatural creatures that quite matched Maleficent's description. She had to be some sort of dark creature, but what kind? Sam could honestly say he didn't have a clue.

Whatever she was, it was probably better to have a civil conversation rather than pestering her about what she was.

(ooc: Seeing Sam & Maleficent interacting with the group at the safe house makes me chuckle. Now I'm kinda want Maleficent to babysit some of the kids. That would be fun to rp. xD)

Tender Heart looked down at Penny who pawed at her chair. He smiled looking down at petting her.

"Hello Penny. Do you need something?" asked Tender Heart.

Chick smiled at Snob.

"Thanks. With help from Maleficent, Willie, and the others their magic healed up most of the sever wounds. And the rest will have to heal on their own. I'm just glad to be out of that bed." said Chick.

Nani turned looking at Snob and sighed.

"I'm not doing so good. I'm trying but last night didn't help much. I had another nightmare last night. Back in that cell again. I thought it was supposed to get better but I haven't had a good night's sleep since before I was captured." said Nani.

She hadn't realized her hands were shaking until she started spilling her drink. She said it down on the coffee table next to her.

Chick set her drink down as she took one of Nani's hands.

"It's ok Nani. You're safe here. Those nightmares will go away and your time there will just be nothing but bad memories." said Chick.

She looked at Snob hoping he could help her out. Snob had been there with her for some of it so she hoped he could help Nani out a little. .

Roses turned to see Joe and smiled.

"Hey Joe. I'm glad to hear that. You know we should hang out more. Maybe play a few games or something." said Roses.

She paused as Nani looked she was having a breakdown and Snob and chick were helping her.

"Poor Nani. I guess Michelangelo, Iheart, Chester, and Snob weren't the only ones affected in those cells after all." said Roses.

Diablo flew out seeing Maleficent. He flew towards her as he saw she was talking to a boy. He looked curiously at the boy deciding he liked him landing on his shoulder. That was probably startling enough but then Diablo spoke his unique thought-speak.

"Hello. I'm Diablo. Welcome to the Safe House. My mistress and I were visiting. Have you come to join the war?" asked Diablo

(ooc: i couldn't resist. a telepathic bird landing on someone's shoulder would freak anyone out. It might not surprise Sam as much as most people but still be fun. I do think sam & diablo could possibly be good friends if you want. Perhaps Maleficent can sense he has psychic powers or that someone isn't normal about him at least.)

(OOC: I want this to happen now. Diablo might have to babysit with her, though, otherwise the kids would probably drive her bonkers.)

Maleficent frowned. It appeared that this man wasn’t a potential recruit, just an ordinary person with a mundane, real-world problem. But you know what they say about appearances.

When he’d first seen her, this Sam person hadn’t reacted at all the way the citizens of Chicago had when she first arrived, with fear and horror. Knowing the affect her appearance normally had on people, Maleficent found herself thinking that Sam came from a place where creatures such as she were commonplace. That didn’t seem to describe anywhere in this particular dimension. Meaning that Sam came from another world.

And besides that, the dark fairy could feel… something coming from him. It wasn’t magic, exactly, but it was enough to let her know that there was more to this man than she could see.

Before Maleficent could vocalize any of this, Diablo appeared, landing on the human’s shoulder and speaking to him as he would have any of their allies. Maleficent allowed herself a chuckle and reached out to stroke the raven’s head.

“Actually, Diablo, Sam says he just wants to come inside for a minute. Apparently, he’s lost.” Maleficent’s attention shifted back to the human in question. “A long story, you said? Well, why don’t you tell me some of it? I have an awful lot of time on my hands.”

The words themselves were sweet enough, but the smile on the dark fairy’s face was enough to show that it was more than a request.

The green woman frowned. That wasn't exactly a good sign. It was entirely possible she was expecting someone else, and then Sam showed up. Hopefully, that was the case.

Before the horned lady could say anything, an ebony feathered creature appeared. A bird commonly associated with ill omens and signs. A raven. The avian decided to land on Sam's shoulder when it appeared, much to Sam's surprise. Ravens, or really birds in general, didn't typically perch upon someone. Not unless they were domesticated. A startled expression crossed his face, one brow lowering while the other quirked upwards as he got a good look at the bird. Alright, that was a little weird. At least it wasn't attempting to attack him though. His eyes widened when he heard the bird speak. He could have handled dealing with the raven just sitting on him, but actually speaking to him? Ok, maybe it was telepathically speaking to him, but that made it even stranger.

War? Safe house? How long was it since the last time Sam was in Chicago? He didn't have fond memories of the city, but he could swear that there wasn't anything about a war related to Chicago. Instead of answering himself, the question directed at him was answered by Maleficent. If she heard him too, then maybe Sam wasn't completely crazy after all. Then the dark fairy turned her attention to Sam once more, and his attention returned to her as well. She wanted to know more about Sam then he was letting her know. The look on her face said that if Sam wanted to take a step inside, he had to give up a little more information about himself. He could do that, he just had to avoid any mention of the supernatural.

"Some of it? Alright. I was at college when my brother, Dean, shows up with his car. He was talking about how we should go on a road trip, so I took a break from school and went with him. We've been traveling all around the United States. My brother just loves going to new places and checking things out, you know? Anyway, we were heading out to some new place, I think Dean said it was a 'surprise,' and we were off to who knows where. Then, this morning, I wake up on the sidewalk somewhere in Chicago. I'm sure that Dean's just playing one of his stupid pranks, but my phone isn't working for some reason, so I can't call him to tell him to pick me up. Now, here I am, trying to find him."

[Pepper]

(OCC: Apoligies to Sam but my charries are still intwined with conversations. Do not worry! Pepper will notice you and talk to you after she eats XD)

Pepper was glad she succeeded in getting Tenderheart's attention. She took a look to hear Maleficent and a man talking but right now her tummy was making the rumblies. So she nodded to Tenderheart, smiling as he petted her and responded "Yes. Can you help me open up the dog food bag please? I'm hungry! You opening it would be so easier tenderheart" She looked to the bag and her stomach growled, she wanted food badly.

Snob smiled, glad Chick was ok and was about to comment but Nani's response was far from pleasant and her shaking hands was a good sign that this was a problem that needed to be solved now. Snob frowned and took the other hand that chick didn't take, nodding to what chick said. He then sighed "Nani, I totally get how you feel but chick's right. You're safe here with us and nothing like this will happen again. You're free to talk to us more about it now. I can totally get how you feel right now. You feel the world's turned upside down but really, it's just a really bad time. It'll pass. Not today but eventually" He shrugged softly and rubbed nani's hand and responded "Trust me nani. It'll be ok. It's gotta be"

Joe nodded cheerfully to Roses at her suggestion of hanging out more "Totally! Game night, movie night, whatever! I'm totally open for it!" He then sobered a little at Nani's little display of anxiety. He nodded as roses stated she too was affected during her capture. He nodded "Yeah lilo and morpheus helped her I'm sure but it takes a lot more people to help her out. Me and chick agreed to get mrs. potts and splinter here sometimes to talk to the ones captured and give them some time to think it out. I... I feel horrible" He sighed, rubbing his hair and responding with a frown to Roses "I wish I could do something. I know talking is good but sometimes I wanna make their pain disappear"

Maleficent got another laugh out of Sam’s reaction to Diablo.

“I’m sorry for my pet,” she said, though her tone wasn’t at all apologetic. “He has his own unique way of communicating, as you can see, and it seems we’ve both forgotten how… intimidating we can look to strangers.”

Maleficent had mixed feelings about that. On the one hand, it pleased her to know that she hadn’t lost her frightening edge. On the other, a part of her had not only grown accustomed to her allies acting as though she were perfectly normal, but found it pleasant.

It seemed that what Diablo had said was as confusing to Sam as the fact that the raven had spoken at all.

“That’s a long story too,” the dark fairy observed, a sly edge to her voice. “I could tell you some of it, if you were interested. Provided you tell me some of your own, of course.”

Sam soon launched into an explanation of why he was on the safe house’s doorstep, including a “road trip” with his older brother and a prank from said brother. It seemed like a reasonable, if not workable story, yet Maleficent couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something more that was not being told to her. Something Sam was trying to keep hidden.

“Your brother must be very cruel to leave you unconscious on the sidewalk as a joke.”

For now, however, she would leave it at that. She would just have to keep an eye on this new “guest” and find out for herself.

Maleficent opened the door a little wider and stepped aside, indicating that Sam had earned the right of passage. “There’s a phone in the kitchen. Mind you don’t disturb the others. Oh!" She put a hand to her mouth, as though she had forgotten something very important. "I haven’t introduced myself. A horrendous oversight on my part. My name is Maleficent.”

Sam gave a slow nod in acknowledgement to Maleficent's words. Apparently, they had grown used to not being startling at some point. That was what Sam picked up from Maleficent's words, anyway. The Winchester boy was tempted to look into what the bird meant by war, but he decided against it. He was already asking to step inside and use their phone, why be any more of a burden than he had to be? Besides, if he wasn't revealing too much information, it was unlikely he was going to receive much information in return.

Once he finished up his story about why he was lost in Chicago, something in him felt the need to stand up for Dean when Maleficent conjectured that he was a cruel being. True, if his older brother really had left him on the side of the road while he was asleep, that was a huge jerk move, but there was something about the situation that didn't seem like it was something Dean would do. For one thing, Dean was aware that the last time they were in Chicago wasn't a fun time. In fact, it was a painful thing to think about. They finally found their dad, only to leave him once more. The memory was a sour one. Even if Dean was a bit of a jerk at times - ok, a BIG jerk at times - Sammy doubted that he would go so far as to leave him in Chicago as a simple prank. There had to be something else involved, but what?

"Oh, I wouldn't say he's cruel, but he just has a weird sense of humor, I guess." Maybe it wasn't much to defend Dean, but what else could Sam come up with on the spot? Not much, apparently.

When it was clear to Sam that he had the right to come inside, he nodded once more to acknowledge what Maleficent said as he stepped in. Don't disturb anyone else, phone in the kitchen. Then she introduced herself. "Maleficent, huh? That's an interesting name." Maleficent. Maleficent meant dark and evil, didn't it? Before he could think too much about the name, he directed his head towards the kitchen. "Well, I'm gonna try to give Dean a call, shouldn't be too long until I'm back out of here." The young man maneuvered his way into the kitchen, though not without taking a glance or two at the residents dwelling in the house. There were people. Regular people. But that wasn't it. No, he could have sworn he saw a teddy bear talking to a dog? Maybe Sam hit his head real hard on the concrete sidewalk earlier? Surely that could explain what he was seeing. He shook his head and continued walking until he reached the kitchen. There was the phone. He picked the device up and dialed in Dean's number, keeping the phone up to his ear, silently praying that the ringing would be replaced with the sound of his brother's voice.

Much to his dismay, instead of his brother's voice, he got a message saying that it was an invalid number. He hung up, then attempted to call Dean once more. Still nothing. Not even his voicemail. The young man's stomach churned. He knew he punched in the right number. He knew his brother's phone was working. Why couldn't he contact him? His brows knit together as the corners of his mouth curled downwards into a frown. "Dammit Dean, what's wrong with your phone?" he whispered under his breath, entering his brother's number in one last time.

"You have reached an invalid n-"

Clank.

A fake smile fell upon his face to mask his frustration as he shook his head lightly. Now what was he supposed to do?

Tender Heart smiled following Pepper to the kitchen.

"Sure. Where is it?" asked Tender Heart.

He paused finding some Kanine Krunchies in one of the cabinets under the sink. He got a dog bowl and poured some in it. Then he got another bowl filling it with water as he set the two bowls down for Pepper to drink.

"There you go." said Tender Heart.

He paused seeing they had a new arrival as he walked up to them.

"Hello. I'm Tender Heart. Welcome." said Tender Heart.

(ooc: up to you. Not sure if Care Bears exists in the supernatural verse as a tv show or not. But be amusing if they did. xd.)

Nani turned to look at Snob and Chick and smiled.

"Thank you guys. You're good friends. I just wish the nightmares would go away. Chester shared a cell with me for a while. Seeing him hurt like that hearing his cries. Iheart wasn't the only one he was protecting. He was a true hero. And now... he looks so broken. I wish I could help him." said Nani.

Chick smiled at Nani.

"Joe and I talked about bringing Splinter and Mrs. Potts over here to talk with you guys. You guys need to talk to someone. Maybe not today, but some day. To help you get past this." said Chick.

Roses grinned at him.

"Sure. This looks like fun. I look forward to it." said Roses.

She paused glancing at Nani and nodded.

"That sounds like a good idea Joe. Perhaps we could have them come here every couple of days and talk to anyone who wants to. Some of them might be a bit stubborn like Snob. He wouldn't talk to me much. Maybe he'll talk to one Mrs. Potts or Splinter." said Roses.

She smiled patting him on the back.

"We all feel bad. It's no one's fault but the villains. Ask That Guy, Facilier, all of them. Well maybe except the kids. They're been lied to, brainwashed, or enchanted somehow." said Roses.

Diablo smiled listening to Maleficent and then looked at Sam.

"So you're Sam? Welcome." thought Diablo.

Diablo then listened to him. He said he was on a road trip with his brother but he'd woken up this morning on the sidewalk.

"I don't think that's what happened. You said his phone isn't working. Which means he's not here. I think you were brought here like most of us from another world. That's why you can't reach your brother. He's still back in your world. Maleficent and I are from the same world." thought Diablo.

He waited for Sam or Maleficent to respond to him. He paused looking up as Tender Heart joined them. He smiled at his friend.

"Hello Tender Heart." thought Diablo.

Sam, surprisingly enough, had almost forgotten about the raven until he heard the voice in his head again. So Dean didn't dump him off in the middle of some random neighborhood? That sounded pretty comforting. Sort of. If he legitimately was in another world, that would explain why neither his phone nor Dean's was working. But how was he in some other world in the first place? It didn't seem to add up. There was no way he could have just popped up on the sidewalk. Well, he had seen some pretty strange things. Maybe it was possible that he was transported into some other world. It was more reasonable than Dean chucking him out of the impala and out onto the streets, anyway.

Before he could make any comment about being in some alternate universe, another creature walked up to him. A... Care Bear? That wasn't weird at all.

"Uh, hey, I'm Sam," he decided to say, uncertain of what to say to the Care Bear. What were you supposed to say to something that was supposed to be fictional? Sam wouldn't know. He typically had conversations with real people. And occasionally people possessed by demons, but mostly real people. Demons and ghosts typically weren't much of conversationalists, so Sam tended to not make much effort in talking to them. But talking teddy bears? That was a new one. He didn't appear to be possessed, but maybe Sam was wrong about that.

[Cinema Snob]

Pepper was grateful that Tenderheart helped her out with the food. She smiled and responded "Thank you!" She then saw the bear immediately go to greet new people and it made the puppy grin that this bear was so kind after all they've been through. She was grateful people like him was around. She turned to see the new guy, Sam, be a bit unsure of this place and she chuckled amused that he was pretty much reacting normal new guys did. She was tempted to spook him or go say hello but the call of her stomach needing satisfaction was more important at the moment. So she proceeded to eat, humming in pleasure at the very taste of kanine krunchies.

Snob smiled softly and turned to agreement with Nani at the mention of chester. The bum had more pressure on him than a ton of weight. He sighed and responded "We all do nani. He's unsure of himself and is really upset over what happened. He doesn't see how great he was and is to us. We'll try to convince him to stay but after what he been through I wouldn't be surprised or blame him if he just didn't want to be here" He shrugged "But hopefully we can prove him he's needed here" He turned to Chick and responded to her "Hey. Not a bad idea. We need a good chat about this. I mean it's been rough" He turned to see Sam and responded with a grimace towards him, worried over how the new guy would react to them or the story he's been told.

Joe smiled as Roses' stated she looked forward to hanging out before commenting about how his idea to talk about it was good. He smiled slightly "It's worth a shot. I mean, they're hurting themselves by keeping it in. IHeart seemed to open up ever since Chester broke down but I guess she didn't want chester to keep blaming himself. As for snob, he seemed to chat with you a lot but I guess he wasn't specific to what happened so talking to someone else might do the trick" He then sighed again at the other armies "The kids are a different story. They've either been lied to, manipulated, enchanted or forced to stay. It's bad for them. It's the adults who should be punished" He growled a little "I swear one of these days, I'm gonna shoot them all down"

Maleficent couldn’t help raising an eyebrow when Sam defended his brother, even after the supposed prank that had been pulled on him. She certainly wouldn’t have been so forgiving. The dark fairy made no further mention of it, though, merely watched as Sam walked into the kitchen and allowed herself an amused smile when he was greeted by Tender Heart. What she had come to take for granted got an interesting reaction from the young man. Privately, she didn’t blame him. The bear wasn’t exactly one of her more favored allies.

“I take it you don’t have such things in your world, Sam?” she inquired, despite the answer being obvious.

Maleficent listened to Diablo explain the situation to their guest and nodded in conformation when he had finished.

“It’s true. Diablo and I are from a movie called Sleeping Beauty and Tender Heart is a Care Bear. We were brought here by a device made by one Ask ThatGuy, and it seems you were too.” She looked at Sam thoughtfully. “Why don’t you tell us about your world? Maybe then someone from this one can tell us where you came from.”
