Do You Trust Me? (Olive)

Olive was a bit annoyed with the fact the orphanage or the Gogans didn't even bother to teach him how to draw, read or write. He didn't want pete to feel bad though so he patiently whispered "Alright. I'll teach you to draw and I'll draw some things too then I'll teach you to write some things for it. This'll be great trust me" He then grinned once more as Pete said he knew what to do and that was something Olive was kind of proud of. As he recieved a plate filled with eggs, bacon and sausages with orange juice, Olive's stomach growled and he got his fork and began eating the eggs. Olive made a yummy sound and turned to see if Pete was eating too. For some reason, now that he was the big brother he felt the need to look over his younger brother now.

Malachite watched with a grin as they talked. He knew Pete was a fragile case. Being adopted by the Gogans and treated so horribly. Nora and Lampie, and Paul would have been a good family for him if he hadn't been sent here. And he was glad Pete had a good friend like Elliot to look out for him back there. But now he had Olive and him. And he wouldn't let anyone hurt Pete again.

"I'm glad you like it. You need anything you let me know ok." said Malachite.

Malachite patted Pete on the shoulder and his heart sank when Pete flinched as he mentally cursed for his mistake.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable." said Malachite.

Pete grinned at him.

"Thanks. You're the best brother I ever had." said Pete.

He hugged him and grinned. The only brothers he had before were Grover Gogan and Willie Gogan. They'd been abusive to him just like adopted parents Merle Gogan and Lena Gogan. He now had a new family. A good family. He pulled back and grinned as Malachite joined them and he started eating with a grin.

"Mmm. This is good." said Pete.

When Malachite patted him on the shoulder he flinched out of habit. When he heard Malachite apologize he shook his head.

"It's not your fault. I'm the screw up. Maybe if I'd just done the chores quicker or-"

He didn't finish as he suddenly felt hugged by Malachite and Olive as he couldn't help but sob as he held on tightly to both of them.

"I'm sorry I ruined breakfast." said Pete.

Malachite heard Pete's apology and stopped eating. He walked over and hugged Pete.

"It's not your fault. It was never your fault. The Gogans are the ones to blame. They give families a bad name. Never blame yourself for what they did to you." said Malachite.

Hearing Pete cry he just hugged him tighter.

"It's ok. Olive and I are your family now. We won't let anyone hurt you ever again." said Malachite.

He heard Pete and shook his head.

"You didn't ruin anything. Breakfast can wait." said Malachite.

Olive grinned, enjoying the fact he was so far being a great brother to Pete, hugging happily in return. That was pretty much what he wanted so far, to be a good older brother for pete. Then he was simply and naively eating when suddenly Pete flinched at Malachite patting him on the shoulder. Assuming this was the work of the Gogan's, Olive's heart sank also for his new youngest brother. Then anger came to him as Pete responded with a guilty apoligy, saying he was a screw up and needed to do something related to chores. At the sound of his apoligy, Olive's fork was instantly dropped resulting in it making a slight clanging sound, and the other boy joined Malachite into hugging Pete. "You're not a screw up. You never were. Those stupid gogans were terrible to you. Dad's right, you shouldn't blame yourself for anythin'"

He then hugged harder as Pete sobbed, saying he was ruining breakfast and nodded as malachite said that he didn't ruin anything and that breakfast can wait. I wish those stupid gogans never existed. If they ever come here I'll tear them apart Olive thought bitterly as his younger brother cried. "Hey pete, don't cry, it's ok. Don't be upset. It'll be fine. Aw, pete. Why would they do such things to you?" Olive said sympathetically

Pete looked at Malachite and Olive and smiled. He had a family. A real family. While he had a family with Nora, Paul, Lampie, and Elliot he was sure he could be happy with this new family. He heard their words saying it wasn't his fault and he wasn't a screw up. He felt safe in their arms as he heard Olive ask him now to cry.

"I'll try. For so long I've been blaming myself. I hate the Gogans and how they treated me. But I've felt like I've done something wrong for so long. No one told me that before." said Pete.

He hugged them both tightly and smiled.

"I'm so grateful I have you guys. A new family. I know I'm damaged. But in time I think I could happy again." said Pete.

Malachite smiled at his two sons as Pete hugged them back and spoke.

"I know it will take time but you should stop blaming yourself. It was the Gogan's fault and their fault alone. Elliot kept you safe and your old family Nora and her father from what you've said. If Elliot, Nora, and her father show up here they will be welcome. But the Gogans will be turned away. They can join Ask That Guy's for all I care but they will not join this army." said Malachite.

He stepped back furious at the Gogans not realizing as a fireball appeared in his hand. He realized he had to get his anger under control and doused the fireball easily seeing the amazed yet fearful look on Pete's face.

"Sorry. I sometimes lose control of my powers when I get too angry." said Malachite.

He stood up turning to his sons again.

"Come and let's eat before the food gets cold." said Malachite.

He grinned and returned to the table as he began eating again.

Pete nodded a bit shocked at the display of Malachite's power and he couldn't deny he was a little afraid of it. But it was brief. He knew Malachite wouldn't hurt him. When Malachite said they should keep eating Pete grinned. He was still a bit hungry. He hugged Olive again before getting up and ate some more.

"Dad's right, Pete. It was never your fault. It IS hard to stop blaming yourself but you have to eventually realize that it wasn't your fault. You'll be fine with us. We're family and we stick together" Olive replied persistantly. He saw then malachite rant and rave, to the point of being extremely angry and he saw Malachite conjure up a fireball resulting in both he and peter being fearful/amazed. He grinned joyfully after a while and said "Holy smokes! That was so cool!" He then saw Malachite ask them to eat before the food got cold. Olive nodded and began eating, hugging pete back as he hugged him.

"Mmmm. This is awesome" Olive said after a while of eating.

Malachite grinned listening to them.

"Olive's right. We're a family now. And I protect my family. I was too young to save my parents. I suppose I'm an orphan as well. Which is why I want to give the two of you a better life than I had." said Malachite.

He would have to find out what triggers Pete had so he could avoid them in the future. He smiled at Olive and Pete were both impressed by his display of magic. Although he saw the brief fear in Pete's eyes.

"Pete. You know I would never hurt either of you. My magic will be used to keep you both and this army safe. If you like I can even teach you how to use magic." said Malachite.

He grinned as they both started eating again glad breakfast wasn't a total waste.

Pete smiled at them both.

"Thanks. I'm so glad you have you guys." said Pete.

He knew it would take time to not flinch every time someone patted him on the shoulder or tried to hug him. And to stop blaming himself. He knew he was safe here and loved. And that reminded him of being in the lighthouse with Nora, Paul, and Lampy.

"You're right. It will take time. But at least I have that time. Thanks to you guys." said Pete.

He heard Olive's praise and it and heard Malachite's voice. Malachite knew he was slightly scared of the fire. He nodded.

"I know you wouldn't hurt us. I should be used to fire. Elliot breathed it all the time. And yet when you did that I'm not sure why I was scared." said Pete.

He sighed as he kept eating wondering when he'd stop feeling scared. He grinned when Olive said the food was good. Pete nodded as he kept eating.

"It sure is. I don't remember the last time I had food this good." said Pete.

Olive was glad Malachite was agreeing with him, but wasn't surprised either, he knew Pete didn't want to be scared but it was within the abuse he held and the fear couldn't be helped. Olive was determined to show his new brother the love the other child felt he deserved. After all, his mother would've wanted him to be a caring man. Olive turned to Pete with a grin as Malachite assured him that he wouldn't dare harm them with his magic. He then heard the idea of being taught this magic "Really? You could teach us, dad? Can you maybe teach me? That'd be awesome if you did!"

He nodded in agreement as Pete saying that he didn't remember the last time he had food this well done. He continued eating some more and made some yum sounds. "This is really delicious, dad. Thanks"

Malachite grinned listening to them.

"I know it will take some time to earn your trust. For you to feel safe here. The Gogans treated you horribly. But we won't." said Malachite.

He smiled as Pete said he knew he wouldn't hurt us and he had been around a dragon all the time before. So he wasn't exactly sure why he was nervous about Malachite's magic. He nodded to Olive.

"Yes. I would like to teach you both. This way you protect yourselves just in case you don't have a weapon. You'd at least know some magic." said Malachite.

He grinned as the subject shifted back to the food.

"Well, I haven't heard this many compliments about my cooking ever. I'll have to make some more then." said Malachite.

Pete smiled grateful for his new family.

"I hope one day I'll feel like that. I want to trust you. I've just been hurt too many times before." said Pete.

He sighed. He then looked surprised as Malachite said he could teach them magic. That did sound cool. Maybe the more he spent with them the more at ease he'd feel.

"Ok. That sounds like fun actually." said Pete.

He grinned as Malachite was pleased with the compliments about his cooking.

"Maybe you could teach us to cook too. I'd love to learn how to make this." said Pete.

Olive listened to malachite and pete converse and nodding in agreement to everything. The boy didn't have things to add other than agreement and promises to be a good person to pete. He responded softly to pete "Well, eventually you will trust us enough to not be so hurt anymore. It'll be ok pete. Believe me" He turned to Malachite with a very excited grin when the man responded he would indeed teach them, because the two boys might not be able to recieve or get a weapon so they would have to rely on supernatural arts. "Sweet!" Olive replied with arms pumped in the air "It'll be so cool to freeze some jerk up or burn them to a crisp!" Olive said overexcitedly "Magic is so cool!"

He continued to eat and smiled as Malachite was pleased with the praise the two boys gave. He then nodded excitedly again as pete suggested learning how to cook "Me too. I think we should learn because what if someone wanted something and none of the people who can cook besides dad wasn't here or he too wasn't here. We could be of some use this way"

Pete sighed.

"I hope so. I hate feeling like this. You guys have been so nice and so cool." said Pete.

He paused as Malachite offered to teach them and he thought it might be a good idea. Once he learned how to do it maybe he wouldn't be afraid of magic.

"I want to learn too. It does scare me but I don't want it too. It does sound like fun." said Pete.

Pete nodded as Malachite said magic wasn't a toy that they had to use it wisely like any other weapon.

"I understand. After living with a dragon for a few months you learn to be careful." said Pete.

He grinned as Olive seemed eager to learn to cook as well.

"So we can learn to cook together. I'd like that." said Pete.

He paused before continuing.

"I was thinking of maybe trying to be a medic. I mean I want to learn how to fight but I'm not going to be much use for awhile. And I doubt the other armies are going to let their kids fight. Especially after I got captured from Ask That Guy's side and several of the kids got hurt." said Pete.

Malachite smiled as Olive also tried to assure Pete he would feel okay soon.

"Don't worry. Take the time you need Pete. We'll always be here for you. Everyone is different. Maybe one day you'll wake up and it won't bother you anymore. Until then you'll always have us." said Malachite.

He chuckled as they both seemed excited to learn magic.

"It is ok to be nervous about magic. It is dangerous and can be lethal if used correctly. But it's not a toy either. It must be used wisely just as you would use a sword or a bow and arrow. You understand?" said Malachite.

Malachite nodded.

"I'd be happy to teach you both how to cook. Although I only know the basics on some things. You might have to look up recipes or get help from some of the others to learn more." said Malachite.

He paused as Pete said he wanted to be a medic.

"That sounds like a good idea. We can always use more medics." said Malachite.

"It's not a problem pete. Whenever you need us, we got ya. We'll be right here. We ain't leavin'" Olive agreed as he did his own part to support pete. He then nodded as Pete seemed more willing to learn about magic, saying it could be fun "It probably is fun! It'd be so cool to use! Like, so cool, I'd be the badass of the city with magic!" He then listened as Malachite said that although he was willing to teach them, magic was not a toy. A weapon to be used wisely. He nodded and shrugged "Yep, yep, yep. Got it. A hundred percent. Now can the first lesson be about freezing people? Or burning them up or something? Something scary so people can know that I'm not one to mess with?!" He then nodded as Pete said that he'd like to cook with him, then nodded again as Malachite mentioned he was willing to teach them but they would have to do more research on their own to learn more since his own knowledge was limited. "Aw come on. Learning how to cook should be easy. We'll be fine!"

"Medic? That's sounds great! We might need more anyway!" Olive agreed. He didn't include himself because unlike pete who seemed to think more logically about the situation, Olive was more interested in fighting regardless of his age. He wanted to be useful physically instead of medically. But he had a bad feeling malachite would not allow him to go much, so he would probably have to do something around the house. For some reason though, Olive found being a medic boring, maybe just be the cook. That made more sense to him.

(ooc: was thinking maybe in a few posts i have malachite leave the thread to do "leadership stuff". This way olive and pete can make that thing olive mentioned earlier. maybe they could give it to malachite in "help" or a later thread. xd)

Pete smiled.

"Thanks guys. You're the best." said Pete.

Pete grinned as Olive's enthusiasm about magic.

"It can't hurt. You think we could try water or wind magic first? I mean worst it can do is knock us down. Then again I don't want to accidentally start a tornado or a flood." said Pete.

He paused as Olive wanted to use ice and fire first.

"I don't know if I want to learn fire magic. At least not right away. I've seen how destructive fire can be. I don't want to start with fire. We can always learn different stuff I guess. After all we may not be the best at the spells. You could be better at fire while I was better with water or something." said Pete.

Pete paused at Malachite's words.

"And you won't lose us father. With your training Olive's going to be one of the best fighters in this army. People will be running home when they see him come to fights." said Pete.

Pete grinned.

"Yeah, it can't be that hard. Although I promise not to do it alone. That way if Olive sets the kitchen on fire someone will be there to put it out." said Pete.

He smirked showing he was teasing Olive. If anyone set the kitchen on fire out of the two of them it would probably be Pete. But it was still fun to tease his older brother. He grinned as Olive seemed happy he wanted to be a medic.

"Yeah. It can help out. Maybe you could teach me some healing magic too. Would be a lot easier to heal injuries than let them heal naturally. Especially the really bad ones." said Pete.

Malachite grinned at their enthusiasm.

"Magic is fun but I'm glad you're willing to take it seriously." said Malachite.

He paused at Pete's concerns and chuckled.

"Don't worry. We'll start with small spells. You're not going to be summoning tornadoes or floods or even earthquakes anytime soon." said Malachite.

He turned to Olive and smirked.

"So eager to fight. Don't lose that fighting spirit my son. Just be careful out there. You'll be a target because you're my son. I would order you confined to the house if I knew it would do any good. But you'd find a way to fight I'm sure. You train hard in magic, weapons, everything. I do not want to lose either of you." said Malachite.

Malachite smiled at Pete tried to assure him they'd be ok. Malachite then laughed as Pete said they wouldn't try to cook alone in case Olive accidentally set the kitchen on fire.

"I'm sure the others will be glad to know you won't be burning down the kitchen then." said Malachite.

Malachite nodded glad Pete wanted to be a medic.

"Sounds like a great idea. And yes I'll teach you healing magic. That is a useful skill." said Malachite.

"Maybe but I still wanna freeze people. So whatever we start with is fine, but I'd prefer learning how to use fire and ice!" Olive said, despite taking this seriously Olive was really excitable and loved the concepts of fire and ice. He saw Pete get happier but was nervous about causing big problems with magic, like make a tornado or flood but with malachite's assurance, it seemed pete felt a bit safer. He then listened as Pete did not share the same sentiment Olive did about learning more... violent magic such as fire spells. Olive shrugged, smiling, not changing his mind "That's ok. We have different ideas on what to learn first. That's what'll make us different. You'll learn water and wind, I'll learn fire and ice. That way we'll give our enemies different attacks and what to expect or something"

He then was glad malachite approved of his craving to fight. Saying that he shouldn't lose his fighting spirit. Yet that even though he felt he should let him stay in the house, Malachite was willing to have olive fight, so long as he trained in every possible way and was extremely careful. Olive was willing to do these terms "Don't worry. Pete's right. I'll be careful. I promise" He beamed though at the thought of having his enemies run away because of olive's power. A image of throwing fire balls came immediately to mind. He then snapped out of it when Pete mentioned cooking and smirked as Pete mentioned that him and pete would be fine because in case olive burned something, pete would be there to put it out. Seeing pete's smile caused Olive to stick his tongue out in retort, he knew his brother was joking. He then pondered about pete's want to be a medic "Healing magic? Cool" He didn't really see himself doing it but he still wanted to support Pete.

Pete nodded.

"I guess it wouldn't hurt to learn that kind of magic in case I needed it. After all, weapons can be knocked away from you but magic can't." said Pete.

Pete grinned at Olive's enthusiasm.

"That sounds good. We could be like the Elemental Brothers or something. I guess we're leaving Earth out? I mean earthquakes might be too hard to control and I don't know if there's anything else useful you could do with earth." said Pete.

Pete smiled as Olive promised to be careful.

"Good. I don't want to lose another family." said Pete.

Pete grinned as Olive was pleased he wanted to learn healing magic.

"Thanks. We don't seem to have that many doctors. If they got hurt of if there was too many people hurt having magical healers could really help. But learning the other magic could help. I guess I'll give it a try.{" said Pete.

Pete heard his father and nodded.

"Don't worry. I learned my lesson. Olive beat me pretty easily. I won't go out into a fight until I have more training." said Pete.

Malachite nodded glad Pete was more eager to learn magic.

"Good. I will teach you whatever magic you wish to know but it will take time and practice. But this means you can't use magic in battles until I believe you're ready. You could accidentally hurt yourself or one our allies by mistake and we wouldn't want that. But I won't ban you from using magic completely. If you're really stuck and risk getting really hurt or killed then you have my permission to use magic. While untrained you could hurt someone else but getting hurt is a risk we all took when joining this war." said Malachite.

Malachite nodded.

"Yes. You both don't have to learn the same magic. Elemental Brothers does have a nice ring to it Pete." said Malachite.

He paused as Pete said earth might be dangerous.

"It does have its uses but perhaps you should master the other elements first. If either of you wishes to learn earth magic later you can." said Malachite.

Malachite nodded.

"You both better be careful. Not just in training but out there. After I lost my parents and Arion betrayed me I thought love was weakness. But after taking you both in I see it's a strength. But I can't lose either one of you. So you make sure you're well prepared before you go into battle again. You don't have to prove yourselves to me or this army. I'd rather you were both safe in your room during battles but I know I can't force you to stay here. So I will make sure you are prepared in fighting and magic." said Malachite.

Malachite grinned as Pete said he'd be careful. He was glad Pete wanted to do healing magic.

"You are correct Pete. We have very few doctors and healers. Perhaps Facilier, Rita, and I should consider teaching more people here at least healing magic. That would be very useful." said Malachite.
