(ooc: March 16th. Afternoon. Scar/Zira thread.)

Scar parted his long black hair from his face as he walked along. He'd gotten some clothes from the others thankfully so he was ok for now. He wore a red T-shirt, a pair of jeans and a pair of sandals. He'd tried shoes and well they just felt uncomfortable. At least he could slip out of he sandals if he wanted to. Wearing clothes was a bit odd but he was told he couldn't go outside without them to his annoyance. He had come to the woods to think. It wasn't exactly like home but it was the closest thing that felt like it.

"Curse that Facilier and his allies. If he hadn't cast that spell I'd still be a lion and wouldn't have to be stuck as a human." said Scar.

Well his only comfort was it wasn't only him. The spell had hit members on all 3 sides. Something he bet Facilier hadn't planned on. He was relieved he didn't find Zira repulsive as a human. He was still attracted to her but he just didn't know how to comfort her in this form. Everything was just so new and awkward. And no one knew how to reverse it. It didn't help may of the sorcerers were stuck as animals and their magic didn't work. It was up to the few sorcerers left who were still human to try to undo this. He missed walking on all fours. He had tried before but it felt odd in this form. Walking on two legs was still new to him. He was clumsy and tripped a lot. Thankfully he'd done most of his practicing alone not wanting to get laughed at. He sighed lying down in a shady spot next to a tree. He just didn't know if he could handle being stuck like this. He hoped they found a cure soon.

A harsh thud reverberated through the forest, followed by a low moan of pain. Zira picked herself off of the ground with a scowl. There was now a dull ache in new her hands and knees, which were now stained with dirt and slightly bloodied. Leaves and small twigs had lodged themselves in her sandy blond hair, and there was mud on her borrowed clothes, black leggings and a cream-colored tunic. Even worse, there was a hole over the knee, marking where she’d fallen. Zira groaned. She wasn’t looking forward to explaining this to the clothes’ true owner. Humans, she had learned, took the condition of their clothes very seriously.

The sound of a familiar voice cut through the once-lioness’s misery, and her red eyes widened. She recognized the voice immediately as Scar’s. Her first instinct was to try and hide, so her mate would not see her in such a pathetic state. The more rational part of her brain soon pointed out that if anyone would understand her situation, it was Scar. Zira took a small breath and quietly followed the sound of his voice, clinging to tree trunks and limbs until she reached him. She settled herself next to him beneath the tree and smiled in relief. Finally, no more walking.

“Hello, Scar,” she greeted him, sounding more cheerful than she really felt.

Scar recognized Zira's voice and smiled. He frowned realizing she'd snuck up on him. If he was still a lion he'd at least have caught her scent or heard her by now. This human form was weak. He had to find a way to adapt to his new form. At least while he was stuck like this.

"Hello Zira." said Scar.

He grinned draping an arm around her waist as it just felt natural to hold her close. He paused realizing it might be awkward and let go blushing.

"Sorry I just wanted to be close to you. These new forms are so awkward. I suppose I sound selfish but I'm glad we're going through this together. My stubbornness hasn't helped me much. I think it's time we take lessons from others. Walking, fighting, whatever we need while we're stuck in these forms. I don't like it but what if takes them a while to reverse this? Or we're even stuck like this? I do not want to be stumbling around like a clown all the time. What do you think?" said Scar.

Zira’s smile faded when she saw Scar’s frown. Had she done something to upset him? She couldn’t think of anything, but Scar could be peculiar at times, and being stuck as a human would put anyone in a bad mood.

“I didn’t mean to bother you,” she murmured quietly. “Do you want me to leave?”

She was comforted when he greeted her kindly, though heat rushed to her pale cheeks when he put an arm around her waist. Something about the gesture brought back memories of being an adolescent, vying with other females for the attention of the opposite sex – and Scar in particular.

“It’s all right,” Zira reassured him when he pulled away and apologized. “I like being close to you too. And I don’t think you’re being selfish.” Somewhat sheepishly, she admitted, “I was thinking that yesterday too, when we were trapped in these ugly bodies.” Realizing how her comment might be interpreted, she hastily added, “Not that I think you’re ugly. If I had to be stuck with anyone – no, that’s not the right word either!”

The heat in her cheeks was intensifying. Zira dropped her head in her hands with an embarrassed groan, hiding her flushed face from her mate. This brought back memories of being an adolescent too – making a complete fool of herself.

“I hate this. Everything was so much simpler when we were lions.”

When her face was no longer burning, Zira lifted her head to look at Scar again. She only nodded in answer to his question, not wanting to say something ridiculous again.

Scar shook his head.

"You're not a bother. Please stay. I always feel happier when you're around." said Scar.

He blushed when he said that. He just felt so unsure in this human form. What if she didn't like him in this form? He knew he hadn't always treated Zira right as he was wrapped up in his old selfish goals of being king. He'd even considered naming Kovu his heir even though it wasn't his son. But through all that, she'd stuck by him.

"I didn't always treat you right in the past. I don't really deserve you and yet you've stuck by me. Gave me two children of my own and my adopted heir Kovu. He would have made a great king. And I wasn't there to see them grow up. To be there for you. All thanks to Simba and those traitorous hyenas." said Scar.

He growled in annoyance and smiled as she said it was alright.

"I'm glad you feel that way." said Scar.

He walked close wrapping his arm around her again. He was still nervous but this felt right being so close to her. He raised an eyebrow as she said ugly bodies.

"Zira you could never be ugly. Lion, human, or anything e4lse. You're beautiful to me nad always will." said Scar.

He chuckled at her words.

"I know what you mean." said Scar.

He nodded at her words.

"Yes. It was simpler but perhaps this happened for a reason. To bring us closer?" said Scar.

He leaned closer giving her a kiss on the lips wrapping his arms around her as he brought her closer giving into the moment. And nothing else mattered not even they were humans. Just that they were together.

Zira was calmed significantly when she heard Scar’s reassurances and quick to give some of her own.

“That’s not true.” She laid her pale hand across her mate’s, smiling at the rush of pleasant warmth the touch brought her. “You’ve always been very good to me, to all of us. And it wasn’t your fault that…”

Here Zira had to bite down on her lip and take a second to collect herself. She seemed to be more emotional in this human form. Another thing to dislike about it.

“…that you didn’t get to see them grow up. That was because of Simba.”

The former lioness bared her teeth in a silent snarl that would have looked quite frightening in her true form, but here just seemed silly. For the moment, she didn’t mind.

Zira felt herself begin to blush when Scar said that she would always be beautiful to him.

“And you’ll always be handsome to be, no matter what,” she murmured, eager to make up for her previous ‘ugly bodies’ comment.

She soon found herself wrapped up in a kiss, her second since taking human form. This one was not as intense as the first, but no less satisfying.

So far, this act seemed to be the only good thing about being a human.

Scar looked at her and sighed.

"I should have been better. I was so wrapped up in my planning and being king. I didn't provide for you or make any plans. If it hadn't been Simba it could have been other lions that joined the other lionesses against us. I was so confident that with Mufasa and Simba gone that I was safe. But we weren't. I let the hyenas have free reign of the Pridelands and because of that all the prey was scared off.

Nala and Sarafina tried to warn me but I was too proud. Too foolish. I had children to protect A family. And because of me I failed you. You were forced to flee with the children and a group of supporters into the Outlands. I should have done better." said Scar.

He sighed looking away.

"Nuka, Vitani, and Kovu grew up without me. I doubt Vitani and Kovu even remembered what I looked like. I'm glad Vitani's here with us but I'll probably never see Nuka or Kovu again." said Scar.

He shook his head at that.

"I could try to blame Simba but it wasn't his fault. Not completely anyway. I blamed the hyenas for everything and they turned on me. My fight with Simba would have ended but I could have fled with you and our family, and the outlanders and the hyenas. The hyenas would have helped us survive better in the Outlands or perhaps we could have found a better home together." said Scar.

Scar smiled grinning as she said he'd always be handsome.

"Thank you my dear." said Scar.

He paused as they were kissing again as he grinned. He pulled apart smiling.

"Hmm. You know I could get used to that. Perhaps we don't have to rush back to being lions just yet." said Scar.

Zira listened to Scar’s talk and found herself growing more concerned with every word uttered. She had never heard him speak like this before – he had always seemed so sure of himself, even when they were young. How long had he been carrying this around with him?

She gave his hand a squeeze and rested her head on his shoulder. “You can’t blame yourself for everything that happened, Scar. It’s true that some of this could have been avoided, but neither of us had any way of knowing that at the time. You did what you had to.”

The once-lioness smiled when the kiss ended and leaned even closer to her mate. “I wouldn’t get any ideas if I were you,” she warned, a playful edge to her voice. “I miss the way things were before.”

Scar sighed and nodded.

"Can't I? I had so many plans and they've all fallen apart. And now two of our children are stuck there without us. I think I've just been ignoring this for so long. I'm glad Vitani's here but I'll probably never see Nuka or Kovu again. I never thought I'd end up missing Nuka that much. Sure he wasn't the warrior I'd expected but he was still my son. He could have been a great adviser to Kovu when we took over. Now I don't know if they'll even look out for each other without us." said Scar.

He grinned at the kiss as it put him in a better mood. He chuckled at her response as he wrapped one of his arms around her pulling her into a hug.

"Well, we should enjoy this while it lasts. I'm sure we'll be lions again soon." said Scar.

He paused as she spoke as he grinned.

"I do too but being humans isn't all bad. I couldn't kiss you and hold you like this before. I think I'll miss this when we change back." said Scar.
