[Henry V/Hal]

(OCC: Hal/Elisa thread. February 27th, early evening)

Ok. He was going to do it. Thanks to the good samaritan ways of Gene the Genie, he got reservations for a fancy dinner for just two where music would be set and delicious food would be served, and the best part was the reservation along with the date itself was free. Gene's kindness meant everything to Hal that he swore to pay it back somehow ten times fold. Hal had no idea of the modern courtmanship but damnit if it got Elisa happy and go to a date with him than he would.

Only thing was to get her permission and acceptance, then it would be actually a date. Elisa was supposed to be surprised, due to the genie claiming she'd like it that way. Hal wasn't sure lying was a good way to get a woman to agree with you but hey he was from the 1800's where arranged marriages were made and not willing dates. Hal wasn't used to this concept but he would do it for Elisa's approval. Hal decided to wear a nice red tux with a white shirt and a red bowtie, he trimmed his hair and his beard, giving him a look of a celeberty. He felt like one. Hmm, maybe the modern culture was something he liked.

He walked up the stairs, getting a few cat whistles from the women and thumbs up and laughs from the men, but he was all blushes and smiles, for he wanted Elisa's approval not anyone else's. He knocked on the door and gently asked "Lady Elisa?"

Elisa paused walking to the door hearing someone call her Lady Elisa. She smiled at the title. Only Hal called her that and it made her feel special. She smiled opening the door and surprised to see him all dressed up feeling a tinge of jealousy wondering what his plans were for the day. Although she had to admit it looked really handsome in that suit as she noticed she was blushing. She grinned trying to compose herself.

"Hi Hal. Can I help you with something? Cause if you're going to a party with the guys you might be a bit overdressed." said Elisa.

Hal could see she liked the way he was dressed due to her extensive blushing. It was working! He was impressing her! His smile increased seven times fold. When Elisa spoke, he frowned immediately in confusion. She thought he was going out with the men? Was this another reason for such formal attire. He chuckled nervously and responded "Oh no. I am not going anywhere with Critic and his band of brothers. I wished to speak to you"

Nervousness gone now, he took her hand and kissed it gently. He took it back and responded "I dressed like this to show you my admiration of you. For you have successfully stolen my heart and I wish for you to keep my love. To prove my love for you I have dressed like this and set up a reservation to a lovely dinner for the both of us. Just spending time with you is heaven on earth therefore this dinner would be reserved for our honor"

He felt really glad saying that. All she had to do now was accept the deal. Hal went down on his knee, the typical response to marriage but since this was a date, Hal assumed it was somewhat important and related to marriage and so kneeled down. Hal looked up and offered his hands "Dear precious Lady Elisa, will you go out with me?"

Elisa watched as he seemed to grin at her blushing as if he was enjoying the affect on her. She tried to calm herself down while listening to him.

"Oh you're not going with the guys?" asked Elisa, trying not to sound too hopeful.

She paused as he spoke again as she was in shock as she listened to him. He admired her. He wanted to be with her and he had reserved a date for her. She blushed again but couldn't help but grin. He wanted her. She paused as he knelt down as she looked at in alarm. Was he tried to propose to her? They hadn't even gone on a date yet. When he spoke again she smiled seeing it wasn't that serious. He was being so polite though.

"Of course I will. I was hoping you'd ask. I guess I was a bit jealous when I first saw you. I thought you were going out with someone else." said Elisa.

Hal was so excited. He let out a sigh of relief at Elisa's yes for the date. He was relieved that she took his hands and as they held hands, Hal stood up and eventually abeit relunctinately he let go of her hands. Hal was shocked to Elisa being jealous that he would prefer to be with anyone but her. Not because he didn't understand, he did, it was the fact she felt that Hal would prefer anyone over her kindness and beauty. Hal smiled softly, showing confidence for Elisa that he was dead set on her and no-one else. He smoothly responded "My darling, no-one would win me over the way you did. I want no-one other than you. You should not think such things, I would be a fool to go on a date with someone else other than you"

Hal then realized Elisa was not wearing a dress but casual wear. Hal once again was confused with modern times. Wondering if this was women dressed for outside or fancy dates Hal asked politely "Do forgive me. I am from older times I'm aware and I am different from other men but what you wear.... Is this what you wear for dates? I am admittedly confused" Worrying he would offend her, he quickly and shyly defended himself "Not that you are not beautiful this way. You are beautiful in everything but I am curious to modern customs"

Elisa smiled as he spoke saying he wanted her. He didn't want anyone else.

"You certainly have a way with words. I'm glad you chose me." said Elisa.

She paused as he looked at her normal attire.

"Well this is casual wear. I didn't know you were going to spring a date on me after all. But people here usually wear normal clothes while going on dates. Unless it's for special occasions or we're going to a fancy restaurant." said Elisa.

She paused walking to her closet and frowned realizing she hadn't brought any dresses as she'd left them at home.

"I suppose our first date is pretty special but I left all my dresses at home. You can't really fight a war in a dress after all. I guess I wasn't expecting to find love." said Elisa.

She grinned at him.

"I suppose I could borrow something or make a quick trip back home." said Elisa.

Dr. Tease suddenly walked in surprising them both as she handed her a dress turning to Hal.

"Come on. Out of the room." said Dr. Tease.

Once Hal was gone she turned to Elisa.

"Well I'm not the Makeover Fairy but how about I help you get ready." said Dr. Tease.

Elisa smiled.

"Thank you. That would be fine." said Elisa.

- Time Skip-

Elisa walked out dressed in an elegant blue dress her hair all combed, and her wearing some makeup as well. She carried her purse around her left shoulder as she turned to him.

"Sorry for the wait. We're not too late for the reservation are we?" asked Elisa.

Dr. Tease grinned seeing them together as she walked away deciding to head to the lab or look for Steve whichever came first.

Hal smiled, seeing Elisa feel better and smiling, he sincerely enjoyed seeing her this way. When she explained that what she was wearing wasn't for a date of fancy dining, Hal was going to insist why would it be a big deal but his conversation was temporarily halted by the rather rushed enterance of Dr. Tease. One woman that Hal was unsure to confirm that he really liked or liked but was extremely confused. Dr. Tease's command for him to leave made Hal confused but not disagreeable. Hal had a feeling it was for girl's only and like a flash, Hal was gone, leaving him to wait in the living room. He blushed a bit wondering what Dr. Tease was doing with Elisa and how they were helping Elisa get ready, Hal immediately looked for one of the books lying around and waited.

Hal grew bored with the book rather quickly and was about to go back and ask if Elisa was ready only for her to come down with a fancy dress, makeup, hair all nice and tidy and a purse. Hal's eyes widened, his jaw agape and he was staring profusely for a few moments. Eventually Elisa spoke and it snapped him back to reality. He coughed, trying to not be awkward and responded "The wait was perfectly fine. I believe we are not late at all" He couldn't help himself he responded, tone awed and amazed "Lady Elisa. You look absolutely perfect. The angels would be less beautiful than you"

He then noticed the clock make a tiny ding, making Hal remember that the reservation was soon to be done in a couple of hours. Hal offered his hand and politely responded "Let us go shall we?"

Elisa grinned at his reaction. She decided she owed Dr. Tease one and hoped to help her out in the future. For now she smiled as she complimented her. The way he spoke she sometimes wondered if he was a king or from victorian england era at least.

"Thank you. You're quite handsome yourself." said Elisa.

She paused as she took his hand hearing the clock ding as she nodded.

"Then let's go. I'm glad you asked me. I feel like a queen in this dress." said Elisa.

She grinned as soon they headed downstairs. As they headed to the door she grinned as she saw the shocked expressions when everyone saw her dress and then heard a few whistles which made her slightly blush. Soon they were outside and on their way to the restaurant.

"You certainly look like a queen" Hal responded, taking Elisa's hand and going right downstairs. He couldn't get enough of Elisa. Seriously could not get enough. Hal ignored the compliment she gave him, he could care less about himself, he only cared about how proper he was for Elisa only. As they went downstairs, he also got some praise from the women despite that the men whistled for Elisa making him acknowledge even more of Elisa's sweet personality and beautiful features. On their walk to the restaurant was easy, since it was right near the city. He didn't know how to drive but he thought a walk would be lovely. It wasn't that cold tonight and their clothes were warm.

Eventually they made it to the restaurant and Hal hoped Gene was right about their reservation. Hal looked over to the waiter, who was skinny and had a polite look in his eye. Hal spoke, holding onto Elisa's arm lovingly "Excuse me. I am Hal Plantagenet. I made a reservation"

"Oui Misiour Your table for yourself and your lovely lady is right in the back. I shall take you there. Follow moi" With that the waiter went off. Hal cringed at the french accent and words, remembering vividly about his previous marriage but quickly followed, taking Elisa with him. He hoped she didn't notice his cringing to the french waiter.

Elisa smiled as they arrived at the restaurant. She was impressed by this looking around and grinned.

"You're in our world a few days and get one of the best restaurants in Chicago. I don't know who helped you but thank them for me." whispered Elisa.

She smiled as the waiter showed them to the table. She followed him and paused seeing him wince at the man wondering what was going on.

"Are you ok?" asked Elisa, concerned.

Soon they were at the table as the waiter left leaving them menus as he left. She sat down waiting for him to join her but she was still concerned. If that man brought some bad memory then perhaps it would be better to eat somewhere else. She didn't want him to be unhappy on their first date.

"Look we can go somewhere else. It's no problem. I'd be happy anywhere as long as it's with you." said Elisa.

Hal smiled glad that Elisa was pleased with this diner so far. Hal indeed made sure to thank Gene afterwards. So far it was working. Then came the issue of the cringing, damn Hal didn't want to bring this up but Elisa was concerned and Hal didn't want to lie. Hal sat down beside Elisa and took a while to respond. Eventually though he did respond "No I enjoy this place. It is not the people or anything. It is just simple memories of my past. I am fine really. It was just a flashback I had when the waiter spoke"

Hal didn't know how to confess this to Elisa but he decided to go along with it anyway. Hal spoke calmly "Well before I came to this place, I was the king of england and we were in war with France. We lost many french people during the war. I regret my actions because it needed not be so violent. Eventually though as a peace offering they lended me a wife who I did adore but now I live here and am happy with you. I do prefer you over all else my dear Elisa" He hoped Elisa would take this to heart in the positive way. He confessed his feelings and awaited her response. He prayed that she wouldn't get angry with him and certainly not leave this place after they just got here.

Elisa looked at him with concern but he said he wanted to stay. She paused as he spoke again and she looked at him shocked. He was the king of england and was at war with france in his world. He had a french wife and he paused as she looked at him.

"How can someone lend you a wife? You're either married or your not." said Elisa.

She paused as he said he was happy here but she paused looking at him.

"You're a king and you're married. I don't want to be the other woman. Although I suppose she'd technically dead by now since you're from the past from another world." said Elisa.

She paused looking at him. She did like him and like she said his wife was technically dead. Unless she got pulled here too. She looked up at him.

"What if your wife showed up here? Would you leave her for me?" asked Elisa.

She was glad she knew know before they got any further. How he could be married to one woman and try to court her puzzled her. Sure it was an arranged marriage but was it fair to his for him to be here dating her?

[Henry V/Hal]

Hal's frown intensified, he never should've confessed something like this so early, but he did and there was nothing he could do. He patiently explained, being careful with his words "That is true. It was a peace offering. My former wife wasn't lend to me perse, we had the arranged marriage because it was one of the only ways to keep peace with france at the time" Hal sounded regretful here, he genuinely wanted her to believe him

"I was a king. I was married. You are correct but that was the past. I have moved on from those things and have come to the conclusion to perminently stay in this universe. You are not the other woman. Noone should assume you as such, I would never ask you to come here if you were the other woman! Please Elisa, I am sorry for hurting you in this way, I only wish you happiness" Hal said, very aware the woman before him wasn't entirely pleased. Crap. This wasn't his intention when telling the truth. Then she gave him the ultimatum, would he go back to Catherine if she came back or would he firmly stay by Elisa. As Hal swore before, Catherine was the past and Elisa was his future. If it meant drama with Catherine then so be it.

"If Catherine, my former wife, did come to pass here I would not leave you for her. I would stay by you. As I stated before she is the past along with my royal status as king. I may be stated as a king to people but it is no matter to me. Not anymore. You matter to me Elisa. You are my present and I will do anything to prove it" Hal confirmed. His tone was serious and his expression fit his tone but he wanted to let this go and continue the night. He wanted to enjoy this date, not have conflict.

[Elisa/Maven Of The Eventide]

Elisa paused as he listened to her.

"An arranged marriage? How old fashioned. I always thought marriages should be of love." said Elisa.

She paused as he spoke and listened saying it was his past and he was going to stay here permanently with her even if his wife came back. He was choosing her. She was shocked and touched at that. He'd give up his old life, his crown, his kingdom, and his wife for her.

"You really mean that? You'd choose me over your old life? No one's done that for me before. But you're a king back there. You'd really not want to go back and rule your people?" said Elisa.

She knew she shouldn't be second-guessing him as he was telling her the truth up front and even said he would stay here with here even if he had the chance to go back home. She should be happy but she felt like he was giving up so much to be with her.

"Are you sure this is what you want? To be with me? To stay here if you had a way to go back?" asked Elisa.

It was out of love... Just not the way you assume Hal thought as Elisa commented about how arranged marriages were usually not out of love. Sometimes they weren't but in Hal's case it gave him a happy last two years. Then again that was the past and Hal was firmly done with it. It would hurt him to remember. It would hurt him because his friends, family, and memories were in ways very good. Hal knew that within the covers he was Henry V but here he was a new man, with new friends and loved ones... Or loved one

Hal understood why Elisa was second-doubting him. From his recent experience in the city, the men were with many women that were their precise age or completely lacking awareness of their age. The woman wanted someone too but since this was a risky move that Hal was making, she wanted him to be absolutely sure. And he was. Hal smiled softly "Of course. I am a man of my word. If I wanted to go back I would of said so, but I do not wish return to my past. I wish to remain here. In a way, the modern times interest me and you mean so much to my life. Besides, being a king is more than just telling others of your rules, it means you yourself must face many laws and rules to abide too. The now present ruler of england is in charge here and it seems to be doing well"

Hal nodded a bit more at Elisa's other questions "Yes Lady Elisa. I wish to be with you above all else. I can learn the modern ways I am sure. It should not be that hard. I am very sure you are what I want"
