Flirting Is Not An Exact Science

[Dr. Carly Tease]

(February 6th. Afternoon. Closed to Dr. Carly Tease & Steve Rogers/Captain America)

Dr. Tease and the others had tried and failed to duplicate the formula that created Captain America guessing he would be their only super-soldier. And thankfully Hulk could indeed control his transformations now which was good to know. They'd run tests on the superheroes and everyone to make sure everyone was in top physical condition. Everyone checked out and the tests were over. She was going to take a break from her tests as she walked out of the lab heading out into the backyard to find Steve dressed in his normal clothes. Thankfully he'd been given modern clothes in his universe before being sent here. So he wasn't too out of place. She smiled walking over to him.

"Hello, Captain America. Or can I call you Steve?" said Dr. Tease.

She smiled grinning at him flirtatiously. She knew he was from the '40s and probably hadn't adapted to the modern world much before being brought here. He was attractive and she'd lost her chance at Tony shocked to see him kissing Bruce at one point in the lab. She had been a bit jealous but knew Tony was happy. Besides Steve was a very attractive man and his last girlfriend he'd left behind after being frozen for years. She knew he may take a while to open but she could wait and settle for a smile of his. She wasn't sure if he was totally oblivious to the effect he on their female members of the army or maybe he just chose to ignore it. She'd seen others looking at him with lovestruck expressions even those who were dating someone else at the time. She knew she couldn't ignore the attraction she had for him. It was different than what she had felt for Tony or for anyone else in the past. It felt more real. She found herself wishing it would last. She blushed noticing him look over to her.

"So how are you adjusting to being here?" asked Dr. Tease.

Steve Rogers had been relaxing in the backyard, wearing a jacket to help keep warm. He'd gone through some tests, ensuring that he was in top shape. He was. His blue eyes fluttered over to Dr. Tease, noticing that she had arrived and was talking to him. "You can just call me Steve, Dr. Tease." he responded to the doctor, facing her now.

It was odd being on the Critic's army. Women he worked alongside would look at him in an odd manner, wink at him, and he didn't have any idea as to why. He had poor skills with recognizing when women were attracted to him, being totally oblivious about it. He seemed to have other things on his mind most of the time. He noticed that she was blushing, though he didn't look into why. It could have just been the cold weather, right? She had a flirtatious grin on her face, and Steve wasn't sure what it meant. He shrugged before responding to her question.

"I'm adjusting. The military aspect is kinda familiar, but it's been a different story to get used to a lot of things."

Dr. Tease smiled as he said he could call her Steve. He was totally oblivious to her flirting as she guessed with the rest of the female member's attempts as he was so innocent coming from a different era. She nodded saying it was hard to adjust to some things.

"I'm one of the few who is from this world and it's still hard for us to adjust to. None of us expected to be fighting in a war. You know that's something you'd expect the military, the navy, and the air force to do. But none of them would be a match for half of those members. Thankfully we have strong superheroes like you to help keep us safe. So we're all going through this in different ways. We're kept from our homes although by choice unlike all of you. But if this wasn't my world I'd still be glad to help out." said Dr. Tease

She smiled grinning at him flirtatiously again. She paused decided to approach this a different way as she walked closer to him until they were practically standing next to each other.

"So do you have someone special back home?" asked Dr. Tease.

Steve hadn't really thought about how the people from this universe had to readjust too. They had to readjust to having all these other beings from different universes coming here. People changed, and they'd have to readjust to that too. It had to be equally hard for the natives and the newcomers. War was always hard.

Steve noticed that Dr. Tease had made her way towards him a bit more. She was a lot closer than previously. He heard the question about if he had a special someone back home. "Special someone?" Steve thought about it for just a brief moment. He didn't have a romantic relationship with anyone, and that meant he had no special someone. "No. I don't have a girlfriend, a wife, a secret admirer, an anything back home. What about you? Is there anyone waiting for you to come home?" Steve still didn't quite understand the concept of flirting, so he figured his question was just a simple one to get to know the doctor better. "Pretty woman like you is sure to have a man by now."

Dr. Tease smiled happy he was single. When he asked if she had someone she shook her head.

"No I don't have anyone either. I've dated sure but nothing lasted, unfortunately. I'm surprised you don't have a girlfriend yet. You're handsome, charming, heroic... any girl would be happy and lucky to have you." said Dr. Tease.

She slid her hand over his smiling. She decided to ask him out to test the waters. If he wasn't interested well it wouldn't be the first time she was rejected. Although she had a feeling she might take longer to get over Steve if he said no that other guys who rejected her in the past.

"Would you like to go out for a cup of coffee or something?" said Dr. Tease.

She grinned at him flirtatiously waiting for an answer.

Heroic. Handsome. Charming. Steve couldn't quite put his finger on it, but something was different about Dr. Tease. He wasn't really observant when it came to romance, not to mention he didn't have the best luck with girls before becoming a super soldier. Even then, the only girl he actually had somewhat of a relationship with was Peggy. That ended well. Suddenly, pulling him away from his thoughts, he felt the female's hand in his own.

"Coffee? Uh, yeah, I can go out for a cup of coffee. Any special occasion to get a cup of coffee?"

Dr. Tease smiled at him shaking her head. Did she have to spell it out with him? He had a girlfriend before he got frozen. She was sending the right signals but he wasn't picking up on them. She might have to do research to how women in the 40s attracted men.

"Great. Not really an occasion. I just want to hang out with you." said Dr. Tease.

She paused glancing at him guessing he still wasn't getting it.

"I like you Steve. I mean really like you. I'd like to go out with you, to date you. If you want." said Dr. Tease.

She was really nervous now waiting for an answer. She was almost tempted to just bolt from the room afraid of the answer. But now that she'd said it she also wanted to know as well.

I like you. I want to go out with you. I want to date you. Those were words that hit Steve's ears. Him? Why him? He was so old-fashioned, yet he'd heard that's what some women liked. They liked a man who was old-fashioned when it came to romancing a woman. Holding the door open for a lady was an example. Blue gaze was fixed on Dr. Tease, mouth slightly agape as he looked at her. Well, Peggy was no longer an option, as that would be far too difficult to have a relationship with her. Now they had quite an age gap. Dr. Tease on the other hand... well, she was certainly different from what Steve was used to. He contemplated her offer for a moment. It wouldn't hurt to try again in the romance department.

"I think I'd like that," Steve responded at long last. "I can go out on a date with you. We're going to grab coffee, right?"

Dr. Tease smiled at the answer and grinned.

"Yes. Just let me get changed real quick. Be right back." said Dr. Tease.

She smiled kissing him on the cheek before taking off to change no doubt leaving a speechless Steve behind her. She returned in a few minutes later dressed in more casual clothes a black T-shirt and a pair of jeans and a green coat. She had also let down her hair as well. She walked over to him grinning.

"Well shall we go?" asked Dr. Tease.

Huh. That was rather quick. Once he was given a kiss on the cheek, he was dumbfounded. Women seemed to be a whole lot more quick to starting romance nowadays then back in the 40's. His mouth was agape as he watched Dr. Tease go, unsure of what to think or feel. When she returned, she looked far, far more casual. Her hair was down too, and Steve assumed that they were ready to go.

"Yeah, let's go," Steve said once he finally recovered from shock.

Dr. Tease smiled as they headed out the door and found their way to a Starbucks. She paused outside wondering if he'd brought any money with him.

"Did you bring any money with you? To our world I mean? Because I can buy both of our coffees. I don't mind." whispered Dr. Tease.

She didn't want to embarrass him or anything not sure if he cared or not buying for himself or if he wanted to pay for both of them. She'd be happy to let him buy for her or split the bill if he had the money.
